How many of you are taking initiation?

Those who are taking initiation raise their hands. Today we are having the initiation ceremony. Some are taking the first initiation, some are taking second initiation, and others are watching. This is a very important ceremony. Here they can say their initiation mantra, and also take the vows. Then after receiving your mantras and the names, they will go to the temple and sit in the fire sacrifice. This means you are formally accepted in the disciplic succession of Srila Prabhupada. He comes in a very illustrious succession. From Lord Krishna to Brahma, from Vyas to Madhavacharya. Through the Madahava line to Lord Caitanya, to the six goswamis, and to Siddha Das Babaji, to Bhaktivinod Thakur, to Gaura Kishore Babaji, and Bhakti Siddhantha Saraswati Thakur, to Prabhupada.

So we hope that you also continue this disciplic succession, make many new devotees. Human form of life is specially meant to perfect your own life, and help others. So we are basically a gosthiyananda movement. We are bhajanandi and gosthiyananda. Bhajanandi’s like to do bhajans themselves, gostyanandi’s like to make new devotees. So Prbhupada made temples and devotees all over the world. So he gave me a order and I am trying to execute that to spread the Krishna Conscious movement. Again and again Prabhupada said that we are not the body, but the illusion is so strong that we all think that we are the body.

Like there are two rails in a railway, so one we see how the material body works, and the other is that we pass through the spiritual process. So side by side we need to see both. As we are in the material world, we are subject to the material ways. So when the body dies the soul doesn’t die. So this is the mystery told in the Bhagavat Gita. We have the same quality as Lord Krishna, but He is sachidananda and we are also sachidananda. We are very small, He is very great. One person, He maintains all the others. So this process of bhakti yoga means that we are conscious of Lord Krishna everywhere, and we engage in this devotional service.

The Pandavas were very attached to Krishna. Their service to Lord Krishna was to be Lord Krishna’s friend. Hanuman, he was Lord Ram’s servant. Some people worship the deity of the Lord. Some offer prayers, some offer service, some remember the Lord, some glorify the Lord, some hear about the Lord, and some offer everything for the Lord. So whether you do one thing or you do all the things. Bhakti Yoga means to do service, service to Lord Krishna.

So all the devas are also parts of Krishna, and by serving them you are also indirectly serving Krishna. If you think that they are part of Krishna, then that service is transcendental. If we think that they are different, and they have nothing to do with each other, then your service is materialistic.

So Lord Siva is the greatest of all the vaishnavas. Vaishavanam yatha sambhu. So we see everything in relation to Krishna.
