Gadādhara Invites Nityānanda Prabhu to Take Meal
Under the section: Śrī Nityānanda’s Return Journey to Nīlācala from Navadvīpa

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa 7.103

nityānandera jagannātha-darśana o mahābhāva-līlā—

nityānanda-svarūpo parama-harṣa-mane
ānande calilā jagannātha-daraśane

Jayapatākā Swami: Lord Nityānanda Svarūpa with the mind transcendentally happy, with great joy He went to have the darśana of Lord Jagannātha.

So, Lord Nityānanda, He appreciated seeing the arcā-avatāra of Lord Kṛṣṇa, Lord Balarāma and Subhadrā, and therefore in great ecstasy to see the Deities.

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa 7.104

nityānanda-caitanye ye haila daraśana
ihāra śravaṇe sarva-banda-vimocana

Jayapatākā Swami: So, hearing about this meeting between Lord Caitanya and Lord Nityānanda, and Their association with each other, simply hearing about this, one is freed from all bondage of this material world.

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa 7.105

jagannātha dekhi’ mātra nityānanda-rāya
ānande vihvala hai’ gaḍāgaḍi’ yāya

Jayapatākā Swami: As soon as Lord Nityānandarāya saw Lord Jagannātha, The Lord He was overwhelmed in loving ecstasy and began rolling on the ground.

So, Lord Nityānanda's emotions could not be controlled when He saw the Deities of Lord Jagannātha, Baladeva and Sudarśana cakra. He got overwhelmed in ecstasy and started rolling on the ground.

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa 7.106

āchāḍa paḍena prabhu prastara-upare
śata jane dharile o dharite nā pāre

Jayapatākā Swami: So, Lord Nityānanda fell on the stone floor with such force that even a hundred people, if they tried to catch Him, they could not hold Him or break His fall.

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa 7.107

jagannātha, balarāma, subhadrā, sudarśana
sabā dekhi’ nityānanda karena krandana

Jayapatākā Swami: So, Lord Nityānanda Prabhu shed tears of love on looking at the divine forms of Sri Jagannātha, Lord Baladeva, Subhadrā Devī, and Sudarśana Cakra.

Lord Nityānanda’s pure love manifested as soon as He came before the Deity of Lord Jagannātha.

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa 7.108

sabāra galāra mālā brāhmaṇe āniñā
punaḥ punaḥ dena sabe prabhāva jāniñā

Jayapatākā Swami: Understanding Lord Nityānanda’s transcendental influence, the brāhmaṇas present garlanded Him again and again, with the garlands from the necks of Lord Jagannātha, Lord Baladeva, Subhadrā devī, and Sudarśana cakra.

Lord Nityānanda was very special and seeing Him they could understand His transcendental potency, and thus they garlanded Him with the garlands of the Deities again and again.

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa 7.109

nityānanda dekhi’, yata jagannātha-dāsa
sabāra janmila ati-parama-ullāsa

Jayapatākā Swami: Seeing Lord Nityānanda all the servants of Lord Jagannātha, into their heart arose a extreme confidential jubilation.

The pūjārīs and the servants of Lord Jagannātha became jubilant on seeing the transcendental form of Lord Nityānanda.

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa 7.110

ye jana nā cine, se jijñāse kāro ṭhāñi
sabe kahe,—“ei kṛṣṇa-caitanyera bhāi”

Jayapatākā Swami: Anyone who didn’t know Lord Nityānanda’s identity inquired from others, who replied, “He is the brother of Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa Caitanya.” Hari Bol!

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa 7.111

nityānanda-svarūpo sabāre kari’ kole
siñcilā sabāra aṅga nayanera jale

Jayapatākā Swami: Lord Nityānanda Svarūpa raised and put everyone on His lap and He soaked their bodies with the tears of love from His eyes.

Lord Nityānanda is the personification of Lord Caitanya's mercy so He was very merciful to all the close servants of Lord Jagannātha who were present.

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa 7.112

tabe jagannātha heri’ harṣa sarva-gaṇe
ānande calilā gadādhara-daraśane

Jayapatākā Swami: After seeing Lord Jagannātha, with a blissful heart, Lord Nityānanda along with all His associates, happily went to see Gadādhara Paṇḍita.

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa 7.113

gadādhara-gṛhe nityānanda—

nityānanda-gadādhare ye prīti antare
tāhā kahibāre śakti īśvare se dhare

Jayapatākā Swami: Lord Nityānanda and Gadādhara when they met each other, the transcendental love and affection They felt for each other is inexplicable by anyone but the Supreme Lord.

So, actually since Gadādhara Paṇḍita is the incarnation of Rādhārāṇī, and Rādhārāṇī She would not be present before Balarāma. But here as Gadādhara Paṇḍita and Lord Nityānanda They could associate with each other. This was a very rare occasion and the love They felt for each other was inexplicable for anyone but the Supreme Lord.

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa 7.114

gadādhara-bhavanastha parama-mohana śrī-gopīnātha vigrahake śrī-caitanyadevera kroḍe dhāraṇa—

gadādhara-bhavane mohana gopīnātha
āchena, ye hena nanda-kumāra sākṣāta

Jayapatākā Swami: In the house of Gadādhara, the standing Deity of Gopīnātha was there and He appeared to be exactly like the son of Nanda Mahārāja, personally there.

Purport (by Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura): The Deity of Śrī Gopīnātha worshiped by Śrī Gadādhara Paṇḍita is still present in one ṭoṭā, or garden, in Śrī-kṣetra. This Yameśvara-ṭoṭā is situated southwest of Śrī Jagannātha temple on the sands of the ocean. See Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Madhya-līlā, Chapter Fifteen, text 183.

Jayapatākā Swami: So, devotees rarely go to this temple which is called by the devotees as Ṭoṭa Gopīnātha and the Deity gave the special darśana to the devotees.

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa 7.115

āpane caitanya tāne kariyāchena kole
ati pāṣaṇḍī o se vigraha dekhi’ bhule

Jayapatākā Swami: Lord Caitanya had personally taken that Deity of Gopīnātha on His lap. Even extreme atheists forget everything upon seeing that Deity.

This is a very beautiful deity and devotees go there just to have the darśana of this Deity and also the other Deities present.

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa 7.116

dekhi’ śrī-muralī-mukha aṅgera bhaṅgimā
nityānanda-ānanda-aśrura nāhi sīmā

Jayapatākā Swami: Looking at Lord Gopīnātha’s beautiful face, which was adorned with a flute and His body was bent, Lord Nityānanda's tears of ecstasy of pure love had no limit.

When Lord Nityānanda saw the deity of Gopīnātha, immediately He was crying in transcendental, loving ecstasy.

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa 7.117

svīya bhavane nityānandera vijaya-śravaṇe gadādharera bhāgavata –pāṭha-parityāga kariyā nityānandasamīpe āgamana—

nityānanda-vijaya jāniñā gadādhara
bhāgavata-pāṭha chāḍi’ āilā satvara

Jayapatākā Swami: When Gadādhara understood that Lord Nityānanda had arrived, he immediately left his recitation of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam and came quickly to receive Lord Nityānanda.

Śrīla Prabhupāda he was walking one morning he went into an unknown person's house, the person's servant came out and said that the Master was engaged in his Deity worship. Śrīla Prabhupāda said that this is a symptom of a kaniṣṭha-adhikārī. An advanced devotee understands that receiving a Vaiṣṇava is more important. So, here we see the Gadādhara Prabhu left his recitation of the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam and went to receive Lord Nityānanda.

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa 7.118

duṅhe mātra dekhiyā duṅhāra śrī-vadana
galā dhari’ lāgilena karite krandana

Jayapatākā Swami: The two upon seeing each other, they noticed the faces of each other and embraced and held the neck of each other and began to cry in ecstasy.

There was so much transcendental love between them and when they saw each other'sand transcendental face they immediately began to cry.

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa 7.119

sākṣāte paraspara sambhāṣaṇa—

anyo’nye dui prabhu kare namaskāra
anyo’ṇye doṅhe bale mahimā duṅhāra

Jayapatākā Swami: The two Prabhus offered obeisances to each and the two began to sing the glories of each other.

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa 7.120

doṅhe bale,—“āji haila locana nirmala”
doṅhe bale,—“āji haila jīvana saphala”

Jayapatākā Swami: They both exclaimed, “Today my vision has become purified and the two of Them said today my life has become successful!”

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa 7.121

bāhya jñāna nāhi dui prabhura śarīre
dui prabhu bhāse bhakti-ānanda-sāgare

Jayapatākā Swami: The Two Lords' bodies lost all external consciousness and the two Lords were floating in the ocean of ecstatic love, happiness in devotional service.

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa 7.122

hena se haila prema-bhaktira prakāśa
dekhi’ catur-dike paḍi’ kānde sarva dāsa

Jayapatākā Swami: Such was the manifestation of Their prema-bhakti, seeing this all the devoted servants around fell down and cried in ecstasy.

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa 7.123

ki adbhuta prīti nityānanda-gadādhare
ekera apriya āre sambhāṣā nā kare

Jayapatākā Swami: What wonderful affection of love there was between Lord Nityānanda and Gadādhara Prabhu! Neither of them would even speak to anyone who was not dear to the other.

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa 7.124

gadādharera saṅkalpa-nityānanda nindakera mukha adṛśya—

gadādhara-devera saṅkalpa ei-rūpa
nityānanda-nindakera nā dekhena mukha

Jayapatākā Swami: Gadādharadeva's, determination was in this form, that he would not see the face of anyone who criticizes Lord Nityānanda.

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa 7.125

nityānanda-svarūpere prīti yāra nāñi
dekhā o nā dena tāre paṇḍita-gosāñi

Jayapatākā Swami: Whoever had no love for Nityānanda Svarūpa, Paṇḍita Gadādhara would not even see him.

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa 7.126

tabe dui-prabhu sthira hai’ eka-sthāne
vasilena caitanya-maṅgala-saṅkīrtane

Jayapatākā Swami: Thereafter the two Prabhus became pacified and peaceful and They sat down in one place and They engaged in Lord Caitanya’s auspicious saṅkīrtana.

So, these loving exchanges between Gadādhara Paṇḍita are being described here, we can see the great attachment and love between these members of the Pañca-tattva, and They are giving the example of how we should behave with the devotees.

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa 7.127

gadādhara-gṛhe śrī-nityānanda o śrī-caitanyera ānanda-bhojana—

tabe gaduādhara-deva nityānanda-prati
nimantraṇa karilena—“āji bhikṣā ithi”

Jayapatākā Swami: Then Gadādhara deva invited Lord Nityānanda, “Today You will take Your meal here.”

So, the loving exchanges happen in six ways, we offer prasāda, we take prasāda we open our minds to what the person has to say, we give some gifts, we may receive gifts. so They were exchanging Their transcendental love in various ways.

Thus ends the chapter entitled, Gadādhara Invites Nityānanda Prabhu to Take Meal
