Nityānanda Prabhu Meets Lord Caitanya and Tumbles Down in Ecstatic Love of God Part 2
Under the section: Śrī Nityānanda’s Return Journey to Nīlācala from Navadvīpa

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa, 7.14

sapārṣada nityānandera nīlācale āgamana, ‘śrī-kṛṣṇa-caitanya’ nāme huṅkāra, bhāvāveśa evaṃ puṣpodyāne avasthiti—

ei-mata sarva-patha premānanda-rase
āilena nīlācale kateka divase

Jayapatākā Swami: In this way, passing the entire journey, absorbed in ecstatic love of Kṛṣṇa, they arrived in Nīlācala after some days.

So, Lord Nityānanda and His associates were absorbed in complete ecstasy of love of Kṛṣṇa on the entire path to Nīlācala. Lord Nityānanda was always absorbed in love of Kṛṣṇa. But thinking of joining with Lord Caitanya, His ecstasy was even greater.

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa, 7.15

kamalapurete āsi’ prāsāda dekhiyā
paḍilena nityānanda mūrcchita haiyā

Jayapatākā Swami: Arriving at Kamalapura, Lord Nityānanda Prabhu fell unconscious in ecstasy from seeing the temple of Lord Jagannātha in the distance.

As one approaches Jagannātha Purī, from a distance you can see the temple, the cakra, rising above the temple and there are flags attached to the cakra. By seeing that, Lord Nityānanda became ecstatic and fainted to the ground.

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa, 7.16

niravadhi nayane vahaye prema-dhāra
‘śrī-kṛṣṇa-caitanya’ bali’ karena huṅkāra

Jayapatākā Swami: Constantly tears of love flowed from His lotus eyes, and He loudly shouted, “Śrī Kṛṣṇa Caitanya!”

So, these are the ecstatic symptoms of Lord Nityānanda.

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa, 7.17

āsiyā rahilā eka puṣpera udyāne
ke bujhe tāṅhāra icchāśrī-caitanya vine

Translation: Lord Nityānanda came and stayed in one beautiful flower garden. Who would understand His desire other than Lord Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu?

Why Lord Nityānanda remained in a flower garden is a mystery only the Lord can understand!

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa, 7.18

ekeśvara gauracandrera nityānanda-samīpe āgamana—

nityānanda-vijaya jāniyā gauracandra
ekeśvara āilena chāḍi’ bhakta-vṛnda

Jayapatākā Swami: Understanding through His mystic potencies that Lord Nityānanda had arrived, Lord Śrī Gauracandra, the original Supreme Personality of Godhead, leaving His personal associates, He came there.

Lord Caitanya was very eager to meet Lord Nityānanda so He left His associates and went to see Lord Nityānanda.

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa, 7.19

dhyānānande yekhāne āchena nityānanda
sei sthāne vijaya karilā gauracandra

Jayapatākā Swami: When Lord Nityānanda was absorbed in meditating on Kṛṣṇa, in transcendental bliss, Lord Śrī Gauracandra Prabhu arrived there.

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa, 7.20

prabhura nityānanda-pradakṣiṇa o nijakṛta śloka stuti—

prabhu āsi’ dekhe—nityānanda dhyānapara
pradakṣiṇa karite lāgilā bahutara

Jayapatākā Swami: When Lord Caitanya saw Lord Nityānanda sitting absorbed in meditation, He began to circumambulate Him repeatedly.

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa, 7.21

śloka-vandhe nityānanda-mahimā varṇiyā
pradakṣiṇa kare prabhu prema-pūrṇa haiyā

Jayapatākā Swami: Lord Caitanya recited a verse glorifying Lord Nityānanda. As Lord Caitanya was circumambulating Lord Nityānanda, He was filled with ecstatic love.

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa, 7.22

śrī-mukhera śloka śuna—nityānanda-stuti
ye śloka śunile haya nityānande mati

Jayapatākā Swami: Please hear the verse emanating from the Lotus mouth of Lord Śrī Caitanya, describing the glories of Lord Nityānanda’s that Śrī Caitanya recited. By hearing this verse, one’s mind will be attracted to Lord Nityānanda.

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa, 7.23

gṛhṇīyād yavanī-pāṇiṁ viśed vā śauṇḍikālayam
tathāpi brahmaṇo vandyaṁ nityānanda-padāmbujam

Translation: “Whether Śrī Nityānanda accepts the hand of an outcaste woman or enters a liquor shop, His lotus feet are still worshipable by even Brahmā.”

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa, 7.24

“madirā yavanī yadi dhare nityānanda
tathāpi brahmāra vandya”, —bale gauracandra

Translation: Lord Gauracandra said, “If Lord Nityānanda enters a liquor shop or accepts the hand of an outcaste woman, He is still worshipable by even Lord Brahmā.”

Purport (by Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura): By drinking wine, human beings lose their sense of discrimination. By consuming intoxicants, sinful people bring about their own degradation. To associate with an outcaste woman devoid of good behavior is most sinful. Brahmā is the origin of all demigods and is worshipable. As on one side a most sinful person is degraded, Brahmā, on the other side, is worshipable by all. Śrī Nityānanda Prabhu and Śrī Guru-Vaiṣṇava, who are nondifferent from Śrī Nityānanda, are so worshipable by all that even if through external vision cheated by māyā they are found to be engaged in extremely abominable activities, they always remain superior to everyone and respectable to all. It is a great offense to consider through external vision that they are polluted by sin.

Jayapatākā Swami: Since Lord Nityānanda Prabhu is trying to help even the most fallen people to be Kṛṣṇa conscious, His reason for doing these apparently abominable things is only to spread the glories of Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu.

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa, 7.25

ei śloka paḍi’ prabhu prema-vṛṣṭi kari’
nityānanda pradakṣiṇa kare gaurahari

Jayapatākā Swami: Lord Caitanya created a shower of ecstatic love for Kṛṣṇa, as Lord Gaurahari circumambulated Lord Nityānanda.

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa, 7.26

mahāprabhura sandarśane nityānandera premānanda o bhāvāveśa —

nityānanda-svarūpo jāniñā sei-kṣaṇe
uṭhilena ‘hari bali’ parama sambhrame

Jayapatākā Swami: Nityānanda Svarūpa understanding that Lord Caitanya was there He rose up chanting, “Hari! Hari in great bewilderement!”

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa, 7.27

dekhi’ nityānanda gauracandrera vadana
ki ānanda haila, tāhā nā yāya varṇana

Jayapatākā Swami: When Lord Nityānanda saw the Lotus face of Śrī Gauracandra, what happiness He felt is beyond explanation.

How much transcendental bliss was felt by Lord Nityānanda, when He saw the Lotus face of His beloved Lord Caitanya, Lord Gaura Hari, He began to chant and dance in ecstasy.

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa, 7.28

‘hari’ bali’ siṁha-nāda lāgilā karite
premānande āchāḍa paḍena pṛthivīte

Jayapatākā Swami: Lord Nityānanda chanted the holy name of Hari roaring like a lion, in the ecstasy of ecstatic love, He fell to the ground.

So, Lord Nityānanda is finally seeing the object of His worship Lord Sri Caitanya Mahāprabhu, He feel to the ground in complete ecstatic love for Kṛṣṇa. It is not possible to describe what transcendental bliss He was experiencing! Haribol!
