Advaita Ācārya Meditates to Bring Lord Caitanya and Feed Him Alone [Part-2]
Under the section: Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu Accepts Prasādam from His Devotees

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa 9.21

advaitera svahaste randhana—

randhane vasilāśrī-advaita mahāśaya
caitanya-candrere kari’ hṛdaye vijaya

Jayapatākā Swami: Śrī Advaita Mahāśaya sat down to personally cook, with Caitanya-candra, He kept in His heart..

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa 9.22

pati-vratā vyañjanera paripāṭī kare
yateka prakāra kare yena citte sphure

Jayapatākā Swami: His chaste wife made all the preparations for cooking the different vegetables of many kinds which inspiration manifested in her heart.

We see here that both Advaita Ācārya and Sītā Ṭhākuraṇī were engaged in cooking, preparing vegetables for Lord Caitanyacandra.

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa 9.23

vividha prabhupriya-śāka-randhana—

‘śāke īsvarera baḍa prīti’ ihā jāni’
nānāśāka dilena—prakāra daśa āni’

Jayapatākā Swami: Since Sītā Ṭhākuraṇī knew that Lord Caitanya liked śāka, so she gave Advaita Ācārya ten varieties of śāka which she had brought from Bengal.

Śaka is a green leafy vegetable like spinach. But there are various varieties in Bengal. Lord Caitanya was very fond of śāka. So, she had ten varieties of śāka which were prepared and given to Lord Caitanya.

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa 9.24

ācārya rāndhena, pati-vratā kārya kare
dui janā bhāse yena ānanda-sāgare

Jayapatākā Swami: Advaita Ācārya cooked and His chaste wife assisted in various ways. The two were floating in an ocean of spiritual bliss.

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa 9.25

advaitera cintā-sannyāsīgoṣṭhī-saha prabhura āgamane prabhura bhikṣā-saṅkoca-sambhāvanā—

advaita balena,—“śuna kṛṣṇadāsera mātā!
tomāre kahi ye āmi eka manaḥ-kathā

Jayapatākā Swami: Advaita Ācārya said to His wife “O mother of Kṛṣṇa dāsa! Listen, let Me tell you what I am thinking.”

So, Advaita Ācārya was revealing His mind, thoughts to Sita Ṭhākuraṇī.

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa 9.26

yata kichu ei morā kariluṅ sambhāra
kon-rūpe prabhu saba karena svīkāra

Jayapatākā Swami: Whatever we have collected, somehow or other let Lord Caitanya accept them all.

Since Lord Caitanya had come with many sannyāsīs and associates, Advaita Ācārya was afraid that Lord Caitanya would not get all the preparations.

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa 9.27

yadi āsibena sannyāsīra goṣṭhī laiyā
kichu nā khāiba tabe, jāni āmi ihā

Jayapatākā Swami: If Lord Caitanya comes along with or brings a group of sannyāsīs, then in that case, He may not eat very much. This I know from experience.

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa 9.28

apekṣita yata yata mahānta sannyāsī
sabei prabhura saṅge bhikṣā karena āsi’

Jayapatākā Swami: All of the anticipated sannyāsīs and mahāntas, all of them liked to take the association with Lord Caitanya, and come to take their meals.

So, Advaita Ācārya was also worried that in the presence of so many sannyāsīs, He would be a little self-conscious and might not each so much. He was very eager for Lord Caitanya to take all the preparations.

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa 9.29

sabei prabhure karena parama apekṣā
prabhu-saṅge saba āsi’ prīte karena bhikṣā”

Jayapatākā Swami: “All of them have great respect for Lord Caitanya. So, they out of affection they come with the Lord to take their meals with Him.”

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa 9.30

antare prabhura ekākī bhikṣārtha āgamana-kāmanā—

advaita cintena mane “hena pāka haya
ekeśvara prabhu āsi’ karena vijaya

Jayapatākā Swami: Advaita Candra was thinking within His mind, the prasāda that He cooked should be accepted by Lord Caitanya alone. And therefore, He should come alone.

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa 9.31

tabe āmi ihā saba pāri khāoyāite
e kāmanā mora siddha haya kon mate”

Jayapatākā Swami: “In that case I could make Him eat all these preparations. In what manner can this desire of Mine be accomplished?”

So, this was the hidden desire of Advaita Candra. That He wanted to feed Lord Caitanya alone.

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa 9.32

ei-mata mane cinte advaita-ācārya
randhana karena mane bhāvi’ sei kārya

Jayapatākā Swami: In this way, Advaita Ācārya thought within His mind. He was cooking thinking this way.

He was cooking, His mind absorbed in the cooking, thinking in this way.

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa 9.33

prabhu o sannyāsigaṇera madhyāhnādi kriyāra saṅkalpa kariyā bahirgamana

īśvara o kariyā saṅkhyā-nāmera grahaṇa
madyāhnādi kriyā karibāre haila mana

Jayapatākā Swami: Lord Caitanya completed His chanting of the holy names, His fixed number of rounds. He thought He would perform His midday duties.

Purport: The phrase saṅkhyā-nāma refers to chanting the holy names of the Lord a certain number of times, as opposed to chanting the holy names without counting. The word grahaṇa indicates to kīrtana.

Jayapatākā Swami: Just as the devotees are given a particular number of rounds or mantras to chant by the spiritual master, Lord Caitanya being the great teacher, Mahāprabhu, He also practices this regulation, He had a fixed number of japa that He would do every day. Haridāsa Ṭhākura would chant 300,000 names of Kṛṣṇa in a day. Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura asked the pūjārīs to chant 100,000 names a day. His disciples who were book distributors who were preaching chanted 25,000 names a day. In ISCKON, Śrīla Prabhupāda recommended we chant 25,000 mantras, holy names or 16 rounds every day. This is a standard practice and Lord Caitanya also followed this.

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa 9.34

ye-saba sannyāsī prabhu-saṅge bhikṣā kare
tāṅrā saba calilā madhyāhna karibāre

Jayapatākā Swami: All the sannyāsīs who generally took their meal with Lord Caitanya also went to perform their mid-day duties.

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa 9.35

advaitera abhilāṣānukūla daiva duryoga—

hena-kāle mahā-jhaḍa-vṛṣṭi ācambite
ārambhilā devarāja advaitera hite

Jayapatākā Swami: At that time, a great storm and rain appeared suddenly and began intense shower by Indra, the king of the devas, all this was to satisfy Advaita Ācārya’s desire.

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa 9.36

śilāvṛṣṭi catur-dike bāje jhanjhanā
asambhava vātāsa, vṛṣṭira nāhi sīmā

Jayapatākā Swami: Hailstones began to fall everywhere in the four directions with thunder and lightning, impossible wind and there was no limit to the rain.

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa 9.37

sarva-dik andhakāra haila dhūlāya
vāsāya yāite keha patha nāhi pāya

Jayapatākā Swami: All the directions became so darkened and filled with dust in the air. In order to reach their residences, no one could find their way.

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa 9.38

hena jhaḍa vahe, keha sthira haite nāre
keha nāhi jāne kothā laiyā yāya kāre

Jayapatākā Swami: Such a torrential storm came and no one was able to remain still. No one knew where to go and where one was being taken by the winds.

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa 9.39

advaitera randhana-kāryera sthāne jhaḍavarṣādira svalpa prakāśa—

sabe yathāśrī-advaita karena randhana
tathā mātra haya alpa jhaḍa variṣaṇa

The area where Advaita Acarya was cooking, only that area had small amount of rain and wind.

Jayapatākā Swami: Since Advaita Ācārya is the incarnation of Mahā-Viṣṇu and Sadāśiva, if He desires something then certainly that happens. So, He wanted that Lord Caitanya come alone, He made it impossible for the sannyāsīs to accompany Him..

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa 9.40

duryoge prabhura bhikṣāra saṅgī sannyāsigaṇera paraspara saṅga-biccheda—

yata nyāsī bhikṣā kare prabhu saṁhati
nāhika uddeśa kāro kebā gelā kati

Jayapatākā Swami: The sannyāsīs who generally took their meals with Lord Caitanya, they got lost, and no one knew where they went.

So, the sannyāsīs were scattered by the heavy storm.

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa 9.41

advaitera bhogasajjā—

ethā śrī-advaita-siṁha kariyā randhana
upaskari’ thuilena śrī-anna-vyañjana

Jayapatākā Swami: Meanwhile, Śrī Advaita Siṁha finished cooking and he cleaned a spot, and He placed the rice and vegetable preparations.

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa 9.42

ghṛta, dadhi, dugdha, sara, navanī, piṣṭaka
nānā-vidha śarkarā, sandeśa, kadalaka

Jayapatākā Swami: Advaita Ācārya also set out ghee, yogurt, milk, cream, butter, piṣṭaka (a sweet preparation made with rice), varieties of sweets, sandeśa and bananas.

So while the storm was going on, Advaita Candra had a little storm in His area and He lay out to serve Lord Caitanya.

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa 9.43

ekeśvara mahāprabhura āgamanera janya advaitara dhyāna—

sabāra upare diyā tulasī-mañjarī
dhyāne vasilena ānibāre gaurahari

Jayapatākā Swami: On each preparation, He put a tulasī-mañjarī, Then He sat and meditated on bringing Gaurahari there.

Advaita Ācārya sat meditating on bringing Gaurahari there

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa 9.44

ekeśvara prabhu āisena yena-mate
ei-mata mane dhyāna karena advaite

Jayapatākā Swami: Advaita Ācārya, he meditated in such a way that Lord Caitanya would come alone. This was his meditation.

So, Advaita Ācārya He wanted Lord Caitanya to come alone. So, Indra made such an environment that that was possible.
