niścaya kariyā nija maraṇa jānila

Translation: Hearing this word, from that day on, King Kaṁsa began harassing all religious people, knowing to be certain that his death is impending.

Jayapatākā Swami: Since the prediction was made that he would be killed by the eighth child of Devakī and he was told that Kṛṣṇa has appeared somewhere else, so he was very much afraid that he might die at any moment at the hand of Kṛṣṇa. So, he sent his demon friends to kill Kṛṣṇa in Nandagrāma.
