vārtā-hāriṇaḥ: tatas taiḥ kathitam—
mada-mudita-mayūra-kaṇṭha-kāṇḍa-
dyutim abhivīkṣya kutaścid apy akasmāt
skhalati luṭhati vepate virauti dravati
viṣīdati hanta mūrcchatīśaḥ
Translation: Men bringing news: They (the men who travelled with the Lord) told us that the Lord suddenly saw somewhere the beauty of a peacock’s neck that was blissful due to happiness, and He fell down, rolled about on the ground, trembled, cried out, ran too and fro, wept, and fainted unconscious.
Jayapatākā Swami: So, Lord Caitanya, just by seeing the blue neck of the peacock became completely overwhelmed with ecstatic love for Kṛṣṇa, He started to manifest different ecstatic symptoms like rolling on the ground, trembling, crying out and running to and fro, weeping and fainting. So, He was expressing loving ecstasy very greatly in Vṛndāvana
Caitanya Caritāmṛta, Madhya-līlā 17.217½-218
mayūrera nṛtya prabhu dekhe kutūhale
mayūrera kaṇṭha dekhi’ prabhura kṛṣṇa-smṛti haila
premāveśe mahāprabhu bhūmite paḍila
Translation: When the Lord saw the bluish necks of the peacocks, His remembrance of Kṛṣṇa immediately awakened, and He fell to the ground in ecstatic love.
Caitanya Candrodaya Nāṭaka 9.133
api ca—
kvāpi vatsa-kulam uccala-pucchaṁ
dhāvamānam anuvīkṣya vanāntaḥ
kaṇṭakāvalini vartmani sadyo
vīkṣitāṅgam abhitaḥ skhalatīśaḥ
Translation: Once when the Lord saw calves running in Vṛndāvana forest with tails raised He fainted in ecstasy and fell into thorn bushes by the roadside and all of his limbs were pierced by the thorns.
Jayapatākā Swami: So, Lord Caitanya would sometimes fall in ecstatic love of Kṛṣṇa and He would not be conscious of His body, but His body would be injured by the thorns, so Balabhadra Bhaṭṭācārya and others were very anxious to protect the Lord.
Caitanya Candrodaya Nāṭaka 9.134
rājā: tatas tataḥ?
Mahārāja Pratāparudra: Then?
Caitanya Candrodaya Nāṭaka 9.135
vārtā-hāriṇaḥ: tataḥ—
kuñja-sīmani kadāpi yadṛcchā-
mūrcchayā nipatitasya dharaṇyām
ālihasti hariṇā mukha-pheṇān
apibanti śakunā nayanāmbhaḥ
Translation: One time on the edge of the bushes He suddenly fainted and fell to the ground in ecstasy. Then the deer licked the foam from His mouth and the birds drank the tears that had fallen from His eyes.
Jayapatākā Swami: So, these animals were expert in taking the nectar from the Lord.
Caitanya Caritāmṛta, Madhya-līlā 17.194
go-pāla darśana o vraja-līlā-smṛtite premāveśa:—
pathe gābhī-ghaṭā care prabhure dekhiyā
prabhuke beḍaya āsi’ huṅkāra kariyā
Translation: When Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu passed through Vṛndāvana, herds of grazing cows saw Him pass and, immediately surrounding Him, began to moo very loudly.
Jayapatākā Swami: So, the cows in Vṛndāvana could sense that Kṛṣṇa has returned they wer mooing in great love.
Caitanya Caritāmṛta, Madhya-līlā 17.195
gābhī dekhi’ stabdha prabhu premera taraṅge
vātsalye gābhī prabhura cāṭe saba-aṅge
Translation: Seeing the herds approach Him, the Lord was stunned with ecstatic love. The cows then began to lick His body out of great affection.
Jayapatākā Swami: So, the cows in Vṛndāvana, they are actually experiencing spiritual bliss and they are attracted to Lord Caitanya and started to lick His body in great affection. This is very unusual for the cows, this means that the cows understood that this was their Supreme Protector, Lord Kṛṣṇa.
Caitanya Caritāmṛta, Madhya-līlā 17.196
sustha hañā prabhu kare aṅga-kaṇḍūyana
prabhu-saṅge cale, nāhi chāḍe dhenu-gaṇa
Translation: Becoming pacified, Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu began to caress the cows, and the cows, being unable to give up His company, went with Him.
Jayapatākā Swami: So, all the cows in Vṛndāvana was spontaneously attracted to Lord Caitanya and they wanted to go with Him.
Caitanya Caritāmṛta, Madhya-līlā 17.197
kaṣṭe-sṛṣṭye dhenu saba rākhila goyāla
prabhu-kaṇṭha-dhvani śuni’ āise mṛgī-pāla
Translation: It was only with great difficulty that the cowherd men were able to keep the cows back. Then when the Lord chanted, all the deer heard His sweet voice and approached Him.
Jayapatākā Swami: So, Lord Caitanya is Kṛṣṇa Himself coming in the mood of His devotee, somehow the cows, deer, and all the other animals, they understood that this was their dear friend and fearlessly they approached the Lord and took His association.
Caitanya Caritāmṛta, Madhya-līlā 17.198
prabhu-darśane mṛgadampattira sukha:—
mṛga-mṛgī mukha dekhi’ prabhu-aṅga cāṭe
bhaya nāhi kare, saṅge yāya vāṭe-vāṭe
Translation: When the does and bucks came and saw the Lord’s face, they began to lick His body. Not being at all afraid of Him, they accompanied Him along the path.
Jayapatākā Swami: So, this is most usual because when Kṛṣṇa returned to Vṛndāvana all the animals approached Him without fear.
Caitanya Caritāmṛta, Madhya-līlā 17.199
prabhu-darśane pakṣigaṇera kala-nāda o harṣa:—
śuka, pika, bhṛṅga prabhure dekhi’ ‘pañcama’ gāya
śikhi-gaṇa nṛtya kari’ prabhu-āge yāya
Translation: Bumblebees and birds like the parrot and cuckoo all began to sing loudly on the fifth note, and the peacocks began to dance in front of the Lord.
Jayapatākā Swami: So, the birds and bumble bees were also inspired by the Lord, they sang in the fifth note, the highest note, and they accompanied the Lord as He walked through the forests of Vṛndāvana.
Caitanya Caritāmṛta, Madhya-līlā 17.200
vṛkṣa-latārao pulakāśru -varṣaṇa:—
prabhu dekhi’ vṛndāvanera vṛkṣa-latā-gaṇe
aṅkura pulaka, madhu-aśru variṣaṇe
Translation: Upon seeing Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu, the trees and creepers of Vṛndāvana became jubilant. Their twigs stood up, and they began to shed tears of ecstasy in the form of honey.
Jayapatākā Swami: So, this shows the special quality of Vṛndāvana, how the trees and creepers of Vṛndāvana are also expressing ecstasy at the presence of Lord Caitanya.
Caitanya Caritāmṛta, Madhya-līlā 17.201
phula-phala bhari’ ḍāla paḍe prabhu-pāya
bandhu dekhi’ bandhu yena ’bheṭa’ lañā yāya
Translation: The tree branches and creepers, overloaded with fruits and flowers, fell down at the lotus feet of the Lord and greeted Him with various presentations as if they were friends.
Jayapatākā Swami: So, in the spiritual world all the creepers, trees are alive and conscious and it seems that in the land of Vṛndāvana, they are also experiencing the same symptoms transcendental consciousness and spontaneously they are offering their fruits to Lord Caitanya with great affection.
Caitanya Caritāmṛta, Madhya-līlā 17.202
prabhu-darśane sthāvara, jaṅgama, sakalerai harya o prabhusaha krīr̤ā:—
prabhu dekhi’ vṛndāvanera sthāvara-jaṅgama
ānandita—bandhu yena dekhe bandhu-gaṇa
Translation: Thus all the moving and nonmoving living entities of Vṛndāvana became very jubilant to see the Lord. It was as if friends were made happy by seeing another friend.
Jayapatākā Swami: So, all the living entities of Vṛndāvana, moving and non-moving became very jubilant to see Lord Kṛṣṇa Caitanya and they expressed their loving devotion.
Caitanya Caritāmṛta, Madhya-līlā 17.203
tā-sabāra prīti dekhi’ prabhu bhāvāveśe
sabā-sane krīḍā kare hañā tāra vaśe
Translation: Seeing their affection, the Lord was moved by ecstatic love. He began to sport with them exactly as a friend sports with his friends. Thus He voluntarily came under the control of His friends.
Jayapatākā Swami: So, Lord Caitanya being in Vṛndāvana reciprocated with all the moving and non-moving entities. Thus, He was joyful and they were joyful
Caitanya Candrodaya Nāṭaka 9.136
kadāpi—
patayālur asāv upety kāyām
api govardhana-bhūdharasya devaḥ
anurāga-sudhābdhi-madhya-magno
na hi bhugno’pi bahir vyathāṁ viveda
Translation: Once, although he fell on Govardhana Hill and His body became broken, because He was drowning in the nectarean ocean of ecstatic love, He was not aware that He was hurt.
Caitanya Candrodaya Nāṭaka 9.137
anuvanam anukuñjam īkṣyamāṇe
rudati vibhāv anurakti-mukta-kaṇṭham
rurudur iva latāś ca śākhinaś ca
dvija-mṛga-rājir abhāji mūrcchayaiva
Translation: When the Lord saw forest after forest and the bushes, without restraint lamented loudly out of love. Seeing this, the trees and vines also cried, and the birds fainted as if being attacked.
Jayapatākā Swami: So, Lord Caitanya’s ecstasy was reciprocated by all the trees and birds. Lord Caitanya’s presence in Vṛndāvana was filled with ecstatic love.
Caitanya Caritāmṛta, Madhya-līlā 17.204
prati vṛkṣa-latā prabhu karena āliṅgana
puṣpādi dhyāne karena kṛṣṇe samarpaṇa
Translation: Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu began to embrace each and every tree and creeper, and they began to offer their fruits and flowers as if in meditation.
Jayapatākā Swami: So, Lord Caitanya was feeling such ecsatic love that He started to embrace all the trees and they in return gave all the fruits and flowers to the Lord.
Caitanya Caritāmṛta, Madhya-līlā 17.205
kṛṣṇapreme pramatta prabhu:—
aśru-kampa-pulaka-preme śarīra asthire
‘kṛṣṇa’ bala, ‘kṛṣṇa’ bala—bale uccaiḥsvare
Translation: The Lord’s body was restless, and tears, trembling and jubilation were manifest. He said very loudly, “Chant ‘Kṛṣṇa!’ Chant ‘Kṛṣṇa!’”
Jayapatākā Swami: So, the Lord in His ecstasy was telling all the moving and non-moving living entities to chant the holy names of Kṛṣṇa.
Caitanya Caritāmṛta, Madhya-līlā 17.206
prabhura kṛṣṇa-kīrtane sakalerai kṛṣṇadhvani:—
sthāvara-jaṅgama mili’ kare kṛṣṇa-dhvani
prabhura gambhīra-svare yena prati-dhvani
Translation: All moving and nonmoving creatures then began to vibrate the transcendental sound of Hare Kṛṣṇa, as if they were echoing the deep sound of Caitanya Mahāprabhu.
Jayapatākā Swami: Hare Kṛṣṇa! by Lord Caitanya’s influence all the moving and non-moving living entities started to chant Hare Kṛṣṇa as Śrīla Prabhupāda said that we cannot do the same thing as Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu but atleast we should get the human beings to chant.
Caitanya Caritāmṛta, Madhya-līlā 17.207
mṛga-saṅge prabhura prema-krandana:—
mṛgera galā dhari’ prabhu karena rodane
mṛgera pulaka aṅge, aśru nayane
Translation: The Lord then clasped the necks of the deer and began to cry. There was jubilation manifest in the bodies of the deer, and tears were in their eyes.
Jayapatākā Swami: So, Lord Caitanya was feeling such loving separation from Lord Kṛṣṇa, He hugged the neck of the deer and cried in ecstasy and the deer were also feeling ecstasy and they cried. Normally deer will not come up to a person but they came upto Lord Caitanya because of Him being transcendental and they became very jubilant to see Lord Caitanya.
