Jayapataka Swami: Today is the auspicious day of Vāmana Dvādaśī and the auspicious appearance day of Śrīla Jīva Gosvāmī. So tomorrow is Śrīla Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura’s appearance day. Then on the 20th is the Bhādra Pūrṇimā. So in the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam it mentions that he who worships the Bhagavatam on the Bhādra Pūrṇimā and gives it away to someone, he goes to the spiritual world. Because devotional service is the main subject in the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam. And that bhakti is eternal, even when the universe is destroyed, it is not destroyed. Actually Lord Kṛṣṇa, He only gives bhakti to those who are completely surrendered to Him. But Lord Caitanya gave it out freely. And He did not consider who is qualified, who is not, He gave it freely to everyone. We are very fortunate to be in the movement of Lord Caitanya. And Lord Caitanya taught especially we should read Kṛṣṇa-śikṣāBhagavad-gītā and Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam. Since the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam glorifies devotional service, there is no other literature, no other śāstra equal to it. Most people pray to the Lord for some material benefit. But the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam shows how serving the Lord in pure bhakti is the highest achievement of life. So those who receive the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam are especially fortunate. So we have been having the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam put in the libraries in the colleges, university libraries. Śrīla Prabhupāda wanted that every gentleman should have the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam in their house. We cannot underestimate the glories of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam. Actually, who keeps the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam in their house, we should understand that the Bhāgavatam is a literary avatāra of the Lord. There are 12 principle devas, they come and pay their obeisances to the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam. Previously, Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam was handwritten on tāl leaves, palm leaves. And now we have the Bhāgavatam printed on paper and it is accessible fairly easily. So, by taking shelter of the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam even a foolish person has its secrets revealed to him. So, Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam reveals confidential pastimes of Lord Kṛṣṇa. And just as Kṛṣṇa has ananta-rūpam, so He appears as different avatāras. Like Vāmanadeva, Narasiṁhadeva, Matsya, Varāhadeva. Like an actor, same person but He plays different roles. So, in this way, there is one Supreme Personality of Godhead but He has unlimited forms and pastimes. All the śāstras mention that devotional service to Kṛṣṇa is recommended. But the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam is especially focused on this devotional service towards Lord Kṛṣṇa. In the beginning. middle and end Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam glorifies devotional service to Lord Hari. So we hope that everybody in the Middle East will take advantage and somehow help us to distribute the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam.

Lord Caitanya had explained the glories of the Śrīla Prabhupāda to Devānanda Paṇḍita. We hope that everyone in the Middle East has a copy of the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam. If we cannot have it in the Middle East, at least have it in your home in India. You already heard from others and Bhakti Puruṣottama Swami how you can participate in this Bhādra Pūrṇimā Campaign. We thank all the devotees in the Middle East who are helping in various ways different projects in India, Nepal and Bangladesh. We hope that by the mercy of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam that we all will go back home back to Godhead. So, I hope that everyone studies the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam very minutely, and that you can achieve pure bhakti in your life. Hare Kṛṣṇa!
