Introduction: We are continuing with the compilation of Caitanya līlā book, the chapter entitled today is:

Discussion Between Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu and The Sanoḍiyā Brāhmaṇa Part 3

Under the Section: The Lord Travels to Vṛndāvana

So Śrīla Prabhupāda has given extensive purports how the Sanoḍiyā Brāhmaṇa was considered as lower caste therefore a sannyāsī would not normally take prasāda but Lord Caitanya said that since Śrī Mādhavendra Purī accepted him as his disciple and took prasāda from him, therefore whatever Śrī Mādhavendra Purī did, that was the essence of śāstra, then He took prasāda from his house. After taking prasāda, then people came to see Lord Caitanya, so many came, hundreds and thousands.

Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Madhya-līlā 17.188

asakhya lokera prabhu-darśana:—

lakṣa-saṅkhya loka āise, nāhika gaṇana
bāhira hañā prabhu dila daraśana

Translation: People came by the hundreds of thousands, and no one could count them. Therefore, Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu came out of the house to give audience to the people.

Jayapatākā Swami: So, many people had come to see Lord Caitanya, He was like honey attracting the bees and to facilitate their desires, He came out of the house.

Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Madhya-līlā 17.189

prabhura kīrtane sakalera ntya:—

bāhu tuli’ bale prabhu ‘hari-bola’-dhvani
preme matta nāce loka kari’ hari-dhvani

Translation: When the people assembled, Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu raised His arms and said very loudly, “Haribol!” The people responded to the Lord and became ecstatic. As if mad, they began to dance and to vibrate the transcendental sound “Hari!”

Jayapatākā Swami: So, wherever Lord Caitanya went, He was encouraging the people to perform kirtana. He would say Hari Bol! And the people would respond they would raise their arms and started dance, some would dance like mad men. So, Lord Caitanya in this way spread the Harināma saṅkīrtana, wherever He went.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Śeṣa-khaṇḍa 2.54

juḍāila deha mora tomāra sambhāṣe
tumi dekh
āibe yathā ye āche viśee

Jayapatākā Swami: My body has become cool by conversing with you. You will show whatever specific and special pastimes happened in those places. So, the Sanoḍiyā Brāhmaṇa was inspired that Lord Caitanya would show him what pastime Lord Kṛṣṇa had performed in what places.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Śeṣa-khaṇḍa 2.55-56

mathurā-maṇḍala ei kṛṣṇera antarīṇa
sakala j
ānaha tumi bhakata pravīṇa

yekhāne ye kaila kṛṣṇa—saba tumi jāna
mathur
ā-maṇḍala more dekhāo sthāne sthāna

Jayapatākā Swami: Mathurā-maṇḍala is Krishna's favorite place where He performed His intimate pastimes. Since you are a great devotee, you know all the different places of Krishna's pastimes. Now show to Me these places in Mathurā-maṇḍala."

Jayapatākā Swami: So, Lord Caitanya was asking the Sanoḍiyā Brāhmaṇa who was a resident of Mathurā, to show the different pastime places of Kṛṣṇa in Mathurā.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Śeṣa-khaṇḍa 2.57

dvija kahe—saba sthāna nā jāniye āmi
dvāda
śa-vanera sthāna sabe āmi jāni

Jayapatākā Swami: Kṛṣṇadāsa said, “I don't know all the places in Mathurā, but I only know the twelve forests.”

Murāri Gupta Kaḍaca, 4.2.13

sa tv enam āha śṛṇu keśava prabho
yadi svayaṁ bhakta-janābhimānī
tathāpi pādau vinidhāya me hṛdi
prakāśaya tvaṁ madhu-maṇḍalaṁ nijam

Translation: The brāhmaṇa replied to the Lord, “Hear me, O Keśava Prabhu! Even though You are in the mood of a bhakta, nevertheless placing Your two lotus feet within my heart reveal to me Śrī Madhu Maṇḍala.”

Murāri Gupta Kaḍaca, 4.2.14

pītvā ca tasya vacanāmṛtaṁ harir
jagāda jīmūta-gabhīrayā girā
mad-ājñayā te ca śrī-kṛṣṇa-līlāḥ
sphurantu dhāmāni ca sarvataḥ sukham

Translation: Lord Śrī Gaurahari drank deep of his nectarean words and replied in a deep resonant voice like a thundercloud, "By My order, may the pastimes of Kṛṣṇa and every delightful aspect of His holy abodes be revealed to you."

Jayapatākā Swami: So, by Lord Caitanya's mercy the Sanoḍiyā Brāhmaṇa will have revealed all the sacred pastime places related to Lord Kṛṣṇa, and then those he will show to Lord Caitanya.

Murāri Gupta Kaḍaca, 4.2.15

tadā sa vipraś caraṇābja-sannidhau
papāta harṣeṇa prabhor dayā-nidhe
dhṛtvā padau te mama mastakopari
sandarśayiṣye bhavate ca sarvam

Translation: Then the learned brāhmaṇa fell joyously at Lord Caitanya’s lotus feet and said, “O ocean of compassion! Just by placing Your Lotus feet upon my head, I shall certainly show all of the holy places to Your Grace.”

Jayapatākā Swami: So, by the mercy of Lord Caitanya the Sanoḍiyā Brāhmaṇa was convinced that he could see all the holy places connected with Lord Kṛṣṇa in Mathurā.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Śeṣa-khaṇḍa 2.58

e bola śuniñā prabhu premānande hāse
t
āhāra śarīre śakti karilā prakāśe

Jayapatākā Swami: Hearing the words of the brāhmaṇa, Lord Caitanya laughed in ecstatic love and infused strength in Sanoḍiyā Brāhmaṇa’s body.

 Caitanya Maṅgala, Śeṣa-khaṇḍa 2.59

mahānande bole- āmi saba dekhāiba
k
ṛṣṇa-janma haite kasa-vadha gunāiva

Jayapatākā Swami: In great happiness, the brāhmaṇa said, “My Lord, I will show You all of the places of pastimes in Mathurā. I'll tell You the pastimes from Lord Kṛṣṇa’s birth to the killing of King Kaṁsa.”

So, by Lord Caitanya’s mercy the Sanoḍiyā Brāhmaṇa would understand all the places of Kṛṣṇa’s  pastimes and dosplay those to Lord Caitanya.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Śeṣa-khaṇḍa 2.60

dvija kahe-śuna śuna śuna mahāśaya
nandera nandana tumi j
ānila niścaya

Jayapatākā Swami: The Sanoḍiyā Brāhmaṇa said, “Listen, listen, Oh great personality. I understand certainly, that You are actually the son of Nanda Mahārāja.”

So the Sanoḍiyā Brāhmaṇa, he understood that Lord Caitanya was Kṛṣṇa Himself who had come in this form.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Śeṣa-khaṇḍa 2.61

tomāra darśane mora vraja-daraśana
ācambite saba mora gela smaraa

Jayapatākā Swami: “By seeing You, I have obtained the vision of vraja-darśana. Surprisingly all of my memory has come.”

By blessings of Lord Caitanya the brāhmaṇa got his full memory back, He could understand all the holy places in Mathurā connected to Lord Kṛṣṇa’s pastimes.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Śeṣa-khaṇḍa 2.62

yekhāne ye jāni āmi sthānera marama
yekh
āne se bhagavān janama-karaa

Jayapatākā Swami: I will tell you about wherever and whatever I know about the secrets of the places and wherever Lord Krsna performed his birth and activities,

Caitanya Maṅgala, Śeṣa-khaṇḍa 2.63

e bola śuni prabhu haria hiyāya
k
ṛṣṇadāsa kole kari’ kṛṣṇa-gua gāya

Jayapatākā Swami: Hearing these words, Happy with the Sanoḍiyā Brāhmaṇa, Lord Caitanya placed him on His lap and started singing the glories of Lord Kṛṣṇa.

So, Lord Caitanya embraced Kṛṣṇadāsa, He was so happy and so He took Kṛṣṇadāsa on His lap and embraced him.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Śeṣa-khaṇḍa 2.64

se dina vañcilā kṛṣṇadāsera ālaya

ā-maṇḍala kathā sarvarātra kaya

Jayapatākā Swami: Lord Caitanya spent that day in Kṛṣṇadāsa’s house talking about Mathurā-maṇḍala whole night.

So, Lord Caitanya was telling all the pastimes that Krsna performed in Mathurā and that took the whole night and Kṛṣṇadāsa was listening to Lord Caitanya’s ecstatic narrations.
