mūkaṁ karoti vācālaṁ paṅguṁ laṅghayate girim
yat-kṛpā tam ahaṁ vande śrī-guruṁ dīna-tāraṇam
paramānandaṁ mādhavaṁ śrī caitanya iśvaram

Hariḥ oṁ tat sat!

Introduction: So, Lord Rāmacandra, when He visited Māyāpur, He told Sītā devī that this was the place where He comes in the Kali-yuga. And that in this līlā as Rāmacandra, He will banish her to the forest. Then He will worship a golden form of her. In the Kali-yuga, He will banish Himself to the forest. And she will worship a golden form of Him, but she didn’t like this. Anyway, now Viṣṇu-priyā devī had heard the rumors that Viśvambhara may take sannyāsa and leave her, so she wants to clarify this. Continuing Chapter:

Viṣṇu-priyā Wants Viśvambhara to Clean Up the Hearsay About Sannyāsa Part II

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 12.10

He is nondifferent from Rāmacandra, and She is nondifferent from Sītā devī.

śuna śuna prāṇanātha, mora śire deha hāta,
sannyāsa karibe nāki tumi

Jayapatākā Swami: Viṣṇu-priyā devī said, listen, please listen, O master of my life! Please place Your hand on my head. Will You accept sannyāsa?

lokamukhe śuni’ iha, vidarite cāhe hiyā,
āgunite praveśiba āmi

Jayapatākā Swami: I heard from the people’s mouths. Now my heart is broken. I will enter into the fire.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 12.11

to’ lāgi jīvana dhana, rūpa navayauvana,
veśa-vilāsa-bhāva-kalā

Jayapatākā Swami: Everything is meant to please You – my life, my wealth, my beauty, my youth, my grace, my dress, my love and artistic skill.

tumi yabe chāḍi’ yābe, ki kāja e chāra jīve,
hiyā poḍe yena viṣajvālā

Jayapatākā Swami: If You leave me, what is this worthless life, like a pile of ashes? My heart will burn in poisonous flames.

āmā hena bhāgyavatī, nāhi kona yuvatī
tumi mora priya prāṇanātha

Jayapatākā Swami: There is no youthful lady as fortunate as me. You are my dear Lord of my life.

baḍa prati āśā chila, nija deha samarpila
e nava-yauvane dibe hāta

Jayapatākā Swami: I had a great desire; thus, I offered my body unto You. This youthful body, You will touch with Your hand.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 12.12

dhik jāu mora dehe, eka nivede tohe,
kemane hāṭiyā yābe pathe

Jayapatākā Swami: Fie upon my body! I have only this prayer to make, “How will You walk on the pathways?”

śirīṣakusuma yena, sukomala caraṇa,
paraśite ḍara lāge hāthe

Jayapatākā Swami: Your lotus feet are soft like the flowers of the śirīṣa, (similar to acacia flowers. I fear to touch them even with my hand.)

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 12.13

bhūmite dāṁḍāo yabe, ḍare prāṇa hale tabe,
siñciya paḍaye saba gāya

Jayapatākā Swami: When You stand on the ground, my life air trembles out of fear, and streams of tears flood my whole body.

araṇyakaṇṭaka-vane, kothā yābe kon khāne,
kemane hāṭibe rāṅgā pāya

Jayapatākā Swami: The forest paths are filled with thorns,

araṇyakaṇṭaka-vane, kothā yābe kon khāne
kemane hāṭibe rāṅgā pāya

Where will You go, in which direction? How will You walk with Your reddish lotus feet?

She was expressing her extreme love for Lord Caitanya. How He with His tender body how will He walk on these difficult pathways.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 12.14

sudhāmaya mukha-indu, tāhe gharmma bindu bindu,
alapa-āyasa mātra dekhi

Jayapatākā Swami: When You do even the slightest action, I see drops and drops of perspiration on the pure moon of Your face.

bariṣā-vādala-vela, kṣaṇe bāri kṣaṇe kṣarā,
sannyāsakaraṇa mahāduḥkhī

Jayapatākā Swami: The monsoon season will come, somedays it will be raining, other days the sun will be intensely shining, these sufferings are great for the sannyāsīs.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 12.15

tomāra caraṇa bini, āra kichu nāhi jāni,
āmāre phelāha kāra ṭhāṁya

Jayapatākā Swami: Other than Your lotus feet I do not know anything else. Where do You throw me away?

dharma-bhaya nāhi torā, śacī vṛddha ādhamarā,
kemane chāḍibe tena māya

Jayapatākā Swami: Do you not have any fear of breaking the religious principles? Mother Śacī is an elderly person and she is already halfway to her death; how will You leave her?

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 12.16

murāri, mukundadatta, e hena saba bhakata,
śrīnivāsa āra haridāsa

advaita-ācārya ādi, chāḍiyā ki kārya sādhi,
kemane vā karibe sannyāsa

Jayapatākā Swami: Murāri Gupta, Mukunda Datta and all these devotees like Śrīvāsa Paṇḍita, Haridāsa, Advaita Ācārya and all the other devotees, what will You achieve by leaving them? How will You accept sannyāsa?

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 12.17

tumi prabhu premarāśi, jagajane hena bāsi,
viparīta carita āśaya

Jayapatākā Swami: You, my Lord, are filled with spiritual love for Kṛṣṇa, and You have given Your love to everyone in the world. So,Your actions are very contradictory.

tumi deśāntare yābe, śunile maribe sabe,
ārajile apaśamaya

Jayapatākā Swami: When they hear You have gone to a faraway country; all the devotees will perish. You have set up Yourself for criticism and ill-fame.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 12.18

ki kahiba muñi chāra, muñi tora saṁsāra,
sannyāsa karaha mora ḍare

Jayapatākā Swami: What will I do? I am worthless, like a pile of ashes. I am Your material attachment You wish to renounce, and fearing me, You have wished to accept sannyāsa.

tomāra nichani lañā, maro muñi viṣa khāñā,
sukhe nivasaha nijaghare

Jayapatākā Swami: I will take one last look at Your lotus face, and I will consume poison. Then You can happily live in Your own house.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 12.19

prabhu nā yāiha deśāntare, keho nāhi e saṁsāre,
vadana cāhite poḍe hiyā

Jayapatākā Swami: O master, please don’t go to another country. There is no one else but You in this world. My heart is on fire to look on Your lotus face.

kahite nā pāre kathā, antare marama vyathā,
kānde mātra caraṇe dhariyā

Jayapatākā Swami Viṣṇu-priyā had no power to say any more. Her heart was filled with pain. She could only weep, holding Lord Gaurāṅga’s lotus feet.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 12.20

śuni viṣṇupriyā-vāṇī, tabe sei gauramaṇi,
hāsiyā tuliyā nila kole

Jayapatākā Swami: Hearing Viṣṇu-priyā’s words, the jewel of persons, Lord Gaurāṅga, smiling, lifted Viṣṇu-priyā on His lap.

vasane muchiyā mukha, kare nānā kautuka,
michāduḥkha nā bhāviha bole

Jayapatākā Swami: With His own garment, He wiped the tears from her face. He joked with her in many ways. Don’t be falsely unhappy and think for no reason.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 12.21

āmi tore chāḍiyā sannyāsa kariba giñā,
e kathā vā ke kahila toke

Jayapatākā Swami: I would leave You and take sannyāsa? Who has told you this?

ye kari se kari yābe, tomāre kahiba tabe,
ekhane nā mara michāśoke

Jayapatākā Swami: Whatever I will do, I will tell you. Don’t perish with this needless sorrow.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 12.22

ihā bali’ gaurahari’ āśleṣa-cumbana kari,
nānā rasa-kautuka-vihāre

Jayapatākā Swami: So, Lord Gaurahari said these things. He embraced her and kissed her. Many mellows and blissful exchanges, He made with her.

ananta vinoda premā, līlā-lāvaṇyera sīmā,
viṣṇupriyā tuṣila prakāre

Jayapatākā Swami: With unlimited, nectar, loving pastimes, with pastimes at the highest point of beauty and grace, He satisfied Viṣṇu-priyā in this way.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 12.23

vinoda-vilāsa-rase, bhaigela rajanīśeṣe,
punaḥ kichu puche viṣṇupriyā

Jayapatākā Swami: With blissful nectar pastimes, They passed the night. Again, Viṣṇu-priyā asked something.

hiyāya āguni āche, te-kāraṇe punaḥ puche,
priya-prāṇanātha-mukha cāñā

Jayapatākā Swami: Flames again rose in her heart. For that reason, she looked at the dear Lord of her life’s face and questioned Him again.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 12.24

prabhū-kara buke diyā, puche devī viṣṇupriyā,
michā nā kahio mora ḍare

Jayapatākā Swami: Placing the Lord’s hand on her chest, Viṣṇu-priyā devī asked. Do not lie to me, fearing me.

hena anumāna kari, yata kaha–cāturī,
palāibe mora agocare

Jayapatākā Swami: I presume You are speaking cleverly, and You will leave me without my knowledge.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 12.25

tumi nijavaśa prabhu, paravaśa naha kabhu,
ye karaha āpanāra sukhe

Jayapatākā Swami: You are the Supreme master, and You are not controlled by anyone. You do whatever makes You happy.

sannyāsa karibe tumi, ki balite pāri āmi,
niścaya kariyā kaha moke

Jayapatākā Swami: If You wish to accept sannyāsa, what can I say to stop You? Tell me for certain, what You want to do?

So, Srila Prabhupada said that, if your wife serves you, if she is favorable, there is no reason to take sannyāsa. Ha! Ha! But the Lord, His pastimes are independent. He can do whatever He likes. And no one can control Him. So, this is a different situation. And the Lord, He has to accept sannyāsa. So, Viṣṇu-priyā understands this in her heart. But she wants to hear what the actual plan is, by the Lord. So, we will continue tomorrow.

Tomorrow is the chapter: Viṣṇu-priyā is Pacified by seeing the four handed form of Viśvambhara.

Thus, ends the chapter: Viṣṇu-priyā Wants Viśvambhara to Clean Up the Hearsay About Sannyāsa Part II

Sometimes devotees ask, it seems that in Kṛṣṇa consciousness, there is lot of pain. Actually, somehow these intense situations, bring out the love of the devotees to a great extent.

Anyway, tonight we are celebrating Śrīla Prabhupāda entered the boat Jaladūta, he went to Colombo. Then he stopped in Kochi. So, we are having a program in Kochi. You are all welcome to come at 8.30 pm IST and see and experience the bliss of Śrīla Prabhupāda getting his Śrīmad-Bhāgavatams in Kochi, and then he took the Bhāgavatams through the Suez Canal to the USA. It is Onam. So now it is Onam season in Kerala. Do you see the ad? (referring to the ad on the screen). We should pray for Keyā Rāṇī’s grandmother?

Keyā Rāṇī: Hare Kṛṣṇa! My grandmother had the third stroke recently. Humbly requesting prayers for her from Guru Mahārāja and all the devotees.

—Your servant, Keyā Rāṇī, Śyāmadeśa

We will chant the mahā-mantra one time, for Keyā Rāṇī’s grandmother. She didn’t give us her name. She has two grandmothers, right? Okay.

Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare
Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare

for the health of your grandmother.
