Caitanya-bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 1.162 nityānandera śacīmātāke prabodha-dāna—

dekhi' nityānanda baḍa duḥkhita-antara / āire prabodhi' kahe madhura uttara /

Jayapatākā Swami: Lord Nityānanda on seeing Mother Śacī,

felt distressed at heart.

To pacify Mother Śacī,

He spoke sweet words to her.

Caitanya-bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 1.163 “kṛṣṇera rahasya kon nā jāna vā tumi / tomāre vā kibā kahibāre jāni āmi /

Jayapatākā Swami: “What confidential topics about Lord Kṛṣṇa are unknown to you?

What do I know

that I can tell to you?

Caitanya-bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 1.164 tilārdheko citte nāhi kariha viṣāda / vede o ki pāibena tomāra prasāda /

Jayapatākā Swami: “Do not feel the slightest distress in your heart.

Will the Vedas ever receive your mercy?

Purport by Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura: The Vedic literatures favor those who engage in their study.

Those Vedas are desirous of receiving Śacīdevī's mercy,

because svayam-rūpa Bhagavān is her eternal son.

The Vedic literatures are always anxious and inclined to worship Śacīnandana.

Jayapatākā Swami: So the position of Mother Śacī is very special

being the eternal mother of Lord Caitanya

who is known as Śacīnandana,

a rare position.

Even the Vedas aspire for Her mercy.

Caitanya-bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 1.165 vede yāṅre niravadhi kare anveṣaṇa / se prabhu tomāra putra—sabāra jīvana /

Jayapatākā Swami: Who the Vedas are searching after constantly

that Lord is Your son,

who is the life and soul of everyone.

Purport by Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura: In the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam (10.87.23) it is stated:

“Simply by constantly thinking of Him,

the enemies of the Lord attained the same Supreme Truth

whom sages fixed in yoga worship by controlling their breath,

mind, and senses.

Similarly, we śrutis, who generally

see You as all-pervading,

will achieve the same nectar from Your lotus feet

that Your consorts are able to relish

because of their loving attraction to Your mighty,

serpentine arms,

for You look upon us and Your consorts in the same way.”

Jayapatākā Swami: Since Kṛṣṇa is the reservoir of all rasas,

all transcendental mellows

so everyone connected with Kṛṣṇa by any rasa will achieve His merciful glance.

Caitanya-bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 1.166 hena prabhu buke hāta diyā āpanāra / āpane sakala bhāra laila tomāra /

Jayapatākā Swami: The same Lord, had put His hand to His heart

and has promised to personally take all responsibility for you.

Caitanya-bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 1.167 vyavahāra paramārtha yateka tomāra / mora dāya prabhu baliyāche bāra bāra /

Jayapatākā Swami: Worldly and spiritual requirements,

whatever you have,

Lord Gaurāṅga said that He will personally take responsibility.

He repeatedly declared

that He will look after all your responsibilities repeatedly.

Caitanya-bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 1.168 bhāla haya ye-mate, prabhu se bhāla jāne / sukhe thāka tumi deha samarpiyā tāne /

Jayapatākā Swami: What is good for everyone,

the Lord He knows best.

Therefore, you should simply live happily

and surrender your body to Him.

Purport by Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura: Śrī Nityānanda told Śrī Śacīdevī

that since her son has taken all responsibility for her,

there was no need for her to worry.

He is the sole maintainer of both the material and spiritual worlds.

The Lord's father and mother,

who are the āśraya, or abodes, of vātsalya-rasa are fully surrendered to the Lord.

Therefore, after realizing this, Śacīdevī should act accordingly.

Jayapatākā Swami: So Lord Nityānanda is instructing Śacī devī not to lament.

That the Lord will take care of her

materially and spiritually.

She has nothing to lament for.

Caitanya-bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 1.169 upavāsinī śacīke kṛṣṇārthe randhana-kārye prarocanā— /

śīghra giyā kara mātā, kṛṣṇera randhana / santoṣa hauka ebe sarva bhakta-gaṇa /

Jayapatākā Swami: “Go quickly My dear mother,

and cook for Lord Kṛṣṇa

may all the devotees be satisfied by taking your prasāda.

Caitanya-bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 1.170 tomāra hastera anne sabākāra āśa / tomāra upavāse se kṛṣṇera upavāsa /

Jayapatākā Swami: “When you fast Lord Kṛṣṇa fasts.

Everyone desires to eat food

cooked by your hands.

Caitanya-bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 1.171 tumi ye naivedya kara kariyā randhana / mohora ekānta tāhā khāibāra mana” /

Jayapatākā Swami: “You should prepare the offering.

Go and therefore cook.

I have a strong desire to eat

your cooking.”

Caitanya-bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 1.172 tabe āi śuni' nityānandera vacana / pāsari' viraha gelā karite randhana /

Jayapatākā Swami: On hearing Lord Nityānanda's words,

, when Mother Śacī heard Lord Nityānanda's words,

she forgot her separation

and she went to cook.

Murāri Gupta Kaḍaca 3.4.9½:

Nityānanda ate the foods she had cooked and then

took stayed there that day. Then, the next day.

Caitanya-bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 1.173 kṛṣṇera naivedya kari' āi puṇyavatīagre / diyā nityānanda-svarūpera prati /

Jayapatākā Swami: The pious devotee Mother Śacī

offered foods to Lord Kṛṣṇa

and placed the prasāda

before Nityānanda-svarūpa.

Caitanya-bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 1.174 tabe āi sarva-vaiṣṇavere agre diyā / karilena bhojana sabāre santoṣiyā /

Jayapatākā Swami: Then Mother Śacī served the prasāda to all of the Vaiṣṇavas.

After satisfying everyone,

she then sat down to eat.

Caitanya-bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 1.175 parama santoṣa hailena bhakta-gaṇa / dvādaśa-upavāse āi karilā bhojana /

Jayapatākā Swami: When Mother Śacī broke her fast of twelve-day and had prasāda.

All the devotees were supremely pleased.

So Mother Śacī was in such separation from Lord Gaurāṅga,

that for twelve days she hadn’t eaten or drunk.

So by Lord Nityānanda saying to her that He is hungry, please feed Him,

by His preaching

she forgot her separation from Lord Caitanya and began

to cook for the Lord and the devotees.

This gave everyone great satisfaction.

Thus Ends the Chapter, Induced by Nityānanda Prabhu, Śacīmātā Cooks, Feeds the Devotees and Breaks Her Twelve-day Fast

I was thinking how Kṛṣṇa and Balarāma

came as Gaurāṅga and Nityānanda

as Kṛṣṇa was challenged by Rukmiṇī

that there is one thing that He didn’t know.

Rādhārāṇī knew, She knew

that how much devotees loves Him and in what way they love Him.

So, He came down to experience the love of a devotee

as Lord Caitanya and Lord Nityānanda.

We were reading in the trip to Navadvīpa,

Lord Nityānanda would climb the kadamba tree,

and float in the water

and sometimes He sits down in the middle of the road,

He loudly cries and laughs

and I was thinking Lord Caitanya and Lord Nityānanda was experiencing so much happiness of loving ecstasy

as Lord they don’t experience being a devotee.

But in this pastime, they experienced unlimited bliss

and in that way; He was experiencing so much transcendental ecstasy.

Haribol! Nita Gaur! Nitai Gaur! Jay Gaur!

Any questions?

Question from Kiśorī, Chennai

Question: Why are we calling sannyāsīs as Mahārāja?

Jayapatākā Swami: That is the tradition

since the sannyāsīs are addressed as svāmī, Gosvāmī or Mahārāja,

because they control their senses.

Therefore, they are given this name.

Question: Hare Krsna Guru Mahārāja! Please accept my respectful obeisances.

Could you please explain the importance of hardcopy of Śrīla Prabhupāda’s books

over softcopy and other way around?

When we distribute, devotees say we will read soft copy.

It becomes challenging to explain sometimes.

Your servant, Vipina Vihārī Vrajeśvara dāsa

Jayapatākā Swami: The important thing is that they read the book.

If they are saying that I will read the softcopy as an excuse,

then they don’t actually want to read it

and that is not a good idea.

In the future, devotees will be able to download softcopies and distribute to the people (devotees).

So, I think that that facility is already there for some books.

But the most important thing is that they read the book.

Question by Jaya Rādhe Kṛṣṇa dāsa

As per Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Madhya-līlā and Caitanya-candrodaya Nāṭaka,

chapter 5, it is Nityānanda Prabhu who tricks Mahāprabhu and takes Him to Śāntipura.

While Ācāryaratna (Candraśekhara Ācārya)

is sent to Navadvīpa to fetch devotees to Śāntipura.

Whereas in Caitanya-maṅgala and Caitanya-bhāgavata, Nityānanda Prabhu is sent to Navadvīpa to fetch the devotees to Śāntipura.

How to reconcile the difference in the narration?

Your servant, Jaya Rādhe Kṛṣṇa dāsa

Jayapatākā Swami: We see that difference, in how Lord Caitanya went to Śāntipura.

Since the Lord’s pastimes are inconceivable,

then this is an example.

Someone might ask how is it that Lord Caitanya was tricked?

Since He is the controller of the three worlds?

Anyway, somehow this is His divine plan,

that He wants the devotees to go to Śāntipura,

and that’s the thing about combining all the books.

Sometimes each book gives a slightly different presentation.

Maybe they all write from a different perspective.

I am just compiling; I am not editing!

Question: Can all Vaiṣṇavas be worshipped as guru tattva

or is there any difference between guru-tattva and all other Vaiṣṇavas in general?

Your insignificant servant, Saraṇya Śrīnīvāsa dāsa

Jayapatākā Swami: One has a dīkṣā-guru and sīkṣā-gurus.

So they would be the guru-tattva.

Not every Vaiṣṇava is necessary to be a guru-tattva.

But since we see all devotees as respectable,

so we address them as ‘prabhu’ or ‘master’.
