Jayapatākā Swami: They (Devotees in Navadvīpa) said: Lord Gaurāṅga took sannyāsa giving us unhappiness. He left us here and merciless He went away.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa, 14.36

Jayapatākā Swami: “How can we stay without Him? He Lord Gaura mercilessly has left all of us all and went away.”

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa, 14.37

Jayapatākā Swami: His great Name, More merciful than Himself; His name is more merciful. By chanting His name, we will attain Him – This is our main activity. So, by Chanting the holy names of Kṛṣṇa the associates of Navadvīpa are considering that they will achieve Lord Caitanya. So, they simply absorbed themselves in chanting His transcendental names.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa, 14.38

Jayapatākā Swami: His statement to us that He gave us previously is still there “Who chants My name will achieve Me, will attain Me.'” Haribol.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa, 14.39

Jayapatākā Swami: Considering this, all the devotees sat down to chant His holy name. Mother Śacī, Viṣṇupriyā, and everyone who was there sat down and chanted Lord Gaurāṅga's holy names.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa, 14.40

Jayapatākā Swami: All the Children, youths, girls and elders all sat down and chanted with their full attention keeping Gaurāṅga as their goal.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa, 14.41

nāmapāśe bāndhila gaurāṅga mattasiṁha

Jayapatākā Swami: In this way, by the ropes of His holy names, they bound the ferocious lion of Lord Gaurāṅga. Caitanya Mahāprabhu stood, His movement was broken.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa, 14.42

Jayapatākā Swami: Leaning on Lord Nityānanda's body, Lord Gaurāṅga stood He remained with tears flowing from His eyes, the Lord was weeping. So there is no difference the name of Kṛṣṇa and Kṛṣṇa himself, all the devotees sat down and started chanting Kṛṣṇa Caitanya’s holy names and then this touched Lord Caitanya and He start walking away and He leaned on the body Lord Nityānanda and He was profusely crying.

Caitanya Carita Mahā Kāvya 11.62: By fortune, he went in the southern direction and, recovering consciousness, thought, “Where am I?” He decided to go to Advaita’s house. He then spoke to Nityānanda in a sweet voice.

Murāri Gupta Kaḍaca 3.4.2: Thus the Lord of all embodied beings, who vanquishes the woes of His bhaktas, resolved to set forth for the abode of Advaita Ācārya.

Murāri Gupta Kaḍaca 3.4.3: As the Lord whose form was a festival for eyes of the people, wandered about Rāḍha-deśa, spoke sweetly to the munificent avadhūta as follows:

Murāri Gupta Kaḍaca 3.4.4: Kindly go by way of the Gaṅgā's bank to the enchanting town of Navadvīpa. First utter My name with great devotion to My mother, and kindly speak to her about Śrī Kṛṣṇa's character, qualities and so forth so that she may feel peace and happiness.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa, 14.43

Jayapatākā Swami: “Lord Nityānanda you can go today to Navadvīpa. Tell all the devotees that I want to see everyone in Śāntipura.”

Jayapatākā Swami: The Lord said, “Listen, O magnanimous Nityānanda! You should quickly go to Navadvīpa.”

Jayapatākā Swami: “Go and mitigate the distress of Śrīvāsa and the other devotees.”

Jayapatākā Swami: “Tell everyone this message that I am going to see the moonlike Lord of Nīlācala.”

Murāri Gupta Kaḍaca 3.4.5-6: “Then summon all My beloved Vaiṣṇavas, headed by Śrīvāsa, to wait until I come at the house of the Ācārya in Śāntipūra.” After hearing these orders from Gaura Jagadīśvara, Śrī Nityānanda at once swiftly departed in jubilant spirits for Navadvīpa, which was blessed by the opulences of goddess Lakṣmī.

Caitanya Carita Mahā Kāvya 11.63: “Go quickly to sweet Navadvīpa, on the bank of the Gaṅgā. Say sweetly to the people there my words. ‘Go quickly to the house of Advaita. I have arrived.’” Agreeing, Nityānanda then left for Navadvīpa.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa, 14.44

Jayapatākā Swami: Hearing this, Lord Nityānanda became very joyful at heart. Lord Caitanya said: “I will appear before all the Vaiṣṇavas, it is the truth.”

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa, 14.45

Jayapatākā Swami: Lord Nityānanda continued walking with Lord Gaurāṅga. Then Lord Caitanya smiled and bid Lord Nityānanda farewell. So, Lord Nityānanda and Lord Caitanya they are very merciful, they were understanding how the devotees of Navadvīpa were feeling great distress. So, Lord Caitanya went to give darśana to all the devotees in the house of Advaita Ācārya in Śāntipura, therefore He is sending Lord Nityānanda to announce this to the devotees. Naturally Lord Nityānanda became very joyful because He knows how this will give great joy to the devotees in Navadvīpa.

Jayapatākā Swami: “You should go and bring everyone quickly there. I will go to Phuliyā to visit Haridāsa.”

Purport by Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura: The village Phuliyā is situated between Rāṇāghāṭa and Śāntipura. From Navadvīpa, the devotees went there by boat and joined the Lord.

Caitanya-bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 1.132

Jayapatākā Swami: Lord Śrī Gauransundar sent Lord Nityānanda, then Mahāprabhu went to the town of Phuliyā.

Jayapatākā Swami: He said to Lord Nityānanda, “You bring everyone and come there. I will see Everyone at one place in Advaita Acārya's house.”

Caitanya-bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 1.133

avadhūta nityānanda—
prabhura ājñāya mahā-matta nityānanda
navadvīpe calilena parama ānanda

Jayapatākā Swami: Following the Lord order of Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa Caitanya, Lord Nityānanda went in great ecstasy greatly intoxicated in love of Kṛṣṇa Lord Nityānanda went in great ecstasy to Navadvīpa. Lord Nityānanda was intoxicated in love of Kṛṣṇa and being absorbed in love of Kṛṣṇa he went to Navadvīpa. At the same time, it was explained that His mood was in transcendental ecstasy.

Caitanya-bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 1.134

prema-rase mahāmatta nityānanda-rāya
huṅkāra garjana prabhu karaye sadāya

Jayapatākā Swami: Greatly intoxicated in the mellows of ecstatic love Lord Nityānanda was roaring loudly and shouting the holy names constantly.

Caitanya-bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 1.135

matta-siṁha-prāya prabhu ānande vihvala
vidhi-niṣedhera pāra vihāra sakala

Jayapatākā Swami: Lord Nityānanda was like an intoxicated lion overwhelmed in loving ecstasy. His pastimes are all transcendental to the rules and regulations.

Purport by Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura: In the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam (11.2.40) it is stated: “When a person is actually advanced and takes pleasure in chanting the holy name of the Lord, who is very dear to him, he is agitated and loudly chants the holy name. He also laughs, cries, becomes agitated, and chants just like a madman, not caring for outsiders.”

In the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam (11.18.28-29) it is stated:

“Giving up the rituals and external regulations pertaining to one’s particular status of life, one should act on the transcendental platform beyond rules and regulations. Although most wise, the paramahaṁsa enjoys life like a child, oblivious to honor and dishonor; although most expert, he behaves like a dull, incompetent person; although most learned, he speaks like an insane person; and although a scholar learned in Vedic regulations, he behaves in an unrestricted manner.”

Jayapatākā Swami: These verses explains the character of Lord Nityānanda, being totally absorbed in the Love of Kṛṣṇa He sometimes loudly chanted the holy name. He appeared like an intoxicated lion that he was oblivious to rules and regulations and He was absorbed in the ecstatic symptoms of love of Godhead. Jaya Nitai. Haribol!

Caitanya-bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 1.136

kṣaṇeke kadamba-vṛkṣe kari' ārohaṇa
bājāya mohana veṇu tribhaṅga-mohana

Jayapatākā Swami: Sometimes He would climb a kadamba tree and play enchanting melodies on a flute while standing in a threefold-bending form. He was absorbing Himself in thinking of Kṛṣṇa so He would assume the three fold bending form of Kṛṣṇa playing on a flute and sometimes He climbs trees and He would act in very unusual way being completely maddened by love of Kṛṣṇa.

Caitanya-bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 1.137

kṣaṇeke dekhiyā goṣṭhe gaḍāgaḍi' yāya
vatsa-prāya haiyā gābhīra dugdha khāya

Jayapatākā Swami: Sometimes Lord Nityānanda would roll in the pasturing ground, and sometimes He would drink milk directly from the cow like a calf.

Caitanya-bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 1.138

āpanā’-āpani sarva-pathe nṛtya kare
bāhya nāhi jāne ḍubi' ānanda-sāgare

Jayapatākā Swami: Being immersed in ocean transcendental ecstasy Lord Nityānanda would lose His external consciousness. As He danced alone the entire way.

Caitanya-bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 1.139

kakhana vā pathe vasi' karena rodana
hṛdaya vidare tāhā karite śravaṇa

Jayapatākā Swami: Sometimes He would in the middle of the road sit and He would cry loudly in such a way that whoever heard His crying their heart would break.

Caitanya-bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 1.140

kakhano hāsena ati mahā aṭṭahāsa
kakhano vāśire vastra bāndhi dig-vāsa

Jayapatākā Swami: Sometimes He laughs out loudly He laughs very loudlywith loud, extremely intense laughter, and sometimes He would take off His doti and wrap it around His head.

Caitanya-bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 1.141

kakhana vā svānubhāve ananta-āveśe
sarpa-prāya haiyā gaṅgāra srote bhāse

Jayapatākā Swami: Sometimes in His own ecstatic mood as Anantadeva, He would float in the current of the Ganges like a serpent.

Caitanya-bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 1.142

anantera bhāve prabhu gaṅgāra bhitare
bhāsiyā yāyena ati dekhi manohare

Jayapatākā Swami: Lord Nityānanda in the mood of Anantadeva floating in the Ganges water He was most enchanting to behold.

Caitanya-bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 1.143

acintya agamya nityānandera mahimātri
bhuvane advitīya kāruṇyera sīmā

Jayapatākā Swami: The glories of Nityānanda are inconceivable and incomprehensible. In the three worlds His compassion was without comparison as a limit of mercy. We see that Lord Nityānanda, Lord Caitanya was prema-avatāra, He was giving out love of Kṛṣṇa but then Lord Nityānanda sometimes it is described as the mercy-avatāra or dayā-avatāra because He gives out mercy most incomparably.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa, 14.50

ihā bali mahāprabhu calilā satvara
nityānanda yāna tabe nadiyānagara

Jayapatākā Swami: After speaking these words, Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu He quickly went, and Lord Nityānanda reached to the town of Navadvīpa which is known as Nadīyānagara.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa, 14.51

nadiyānagarera loka jīyantete marā
kāṭile kuṭile rakta-māṁsa nāhi tārā

Jayapatākā Swami: The people of Navadvīpa were like living dead. If cut into small pieces they did not have blood or flesh in their bodies. They were feeling such separation from Lord Caitanya that they were like living dead, so this was the situation in Navadvīpa after Lord Caitanya left. So we can understand when Lord Nityananda goes there it’s a great thing.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa, 14.52

udare nāhika anna–ṭalamala tanu
sarva andhakāra tārā gaurācāṁda binu

Jayapatākā Swami: There was no rice in their stomachs. Their bodies were trembling. Without Lord Gauracandra everything seems dark, they were as if blind.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa, 14.53

ācambite nityānanda nadiyānagare
gāye bala–haila-sabhe dhāilā satvare

Jayapatākā Swami: Suddenly Lord Nityānanda arrived in Nādia and he was in Navadvīpa town. Strength came to their bodies and everybody went running quickly to receive Lord Nityānanda.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa, 14.54

calite nā pāre pathe ṭalamala kare
dekhite nā pāya patha nayanera jale

Jayapatākā Swami: They couldn’t even travel on the path, they were trembling. Tears were flowing from their eyes; they could not even see the paths.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa, 14.55

sakala vaiṣṇara kānde paḍiyā caraṇe
puchite nā pāre kichu nīrava-vadane

Jayapatākā Swami: All the Vaiṣṇavas were crying and fell down at the lotus feet of Lord Nityananda. They were not able to ask anything with their mouths were silent.

So, as we say that there is no difference between Vṛndāvana and Navadvīpa. We see that the Navadvīpa-vāsīs they are filled with separation like the Vṛndāvana-vāsīs when Kṛṣṇa went to Mathurā but Lord Caitanya is so merciful that He is seeing them in Śāntipura.

Thus Ends the Chapter, Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa Caitanya Mahāprabhu Sends Lord Nityānanda Prabhu to console the Devotees in Navadvīpa.
