Chapter entitled as Wonderful Transformations of Mahāprabhu During Kīrtana in The Courtyard of Śrīvāsa – continued…

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Madhya-khaṇḍa 8.180

yakhana ye bhāva haya, sei adbhuta
nija-nāmānande nāce jagannātha-suta

Translation: Whatever mood the Lord exhibited was most wonderful. The son of Jagannātha Miśra danced in the ecstasy of chanting His own holy names.

Jayapatākā Swami: Whatever ecstasy the Lord was in, it was wonderful. He was chanting His own holy names in His ecstasy and He was dancing, the son of Jagannātha Miśra.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Madhya-khaṇḍa 8.181

ghana ghana huṅkāraya sarva aṅga naḍe
nā pāre haite sthira, pṛthivīte paḍe

Translation: Sometimes He roared so loudly that His entire body trembled. Unable to remain steady, He then fell to the ground.

Another reading of huṅkāraya is hu-huṅkāra [which also means “loud roar].

Jayapatākā Swami: Sometimes He roared so loudly that His whole body was vibrating, trembling, He was not able to remain steady and He fell to the earth. So, whatever the Lord did, whatever ecstasy He was in, it was adhbhuta, means wonderful or exceptional. So, the author, he is only able to describe something, but actually, what the Lord did was so amazing that it cannot be fully described in words. So how fortunate were the devotees there, who could see these ecstatic, loving manifestations expressed by the Lord.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Madhya-khaṇḍa 8.182

gaura-varṇa deha—kṣaṇe nānā-varṇa dekhi
kṣaṇe kṣaṇe dui guṇa haya dui āṅkhi

Translation: Although the Lord's complexion was golden, He sometimes appeared in various colors. Sometimes His two eyes doubled in size.

Jayapatākā Swami: Although, the Lord was golden color, sometimes He would manifest different colors. Sometimes, His two eyes, were double in the size.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Madhya-khaṇḍa 8.183

alaukika hañā prabhu vaiṣṇava-āveśe
ye balite yogya nahe, tāo prabhu bhāṣe

Translation: In this way, the Lord became absorbed in the transcendental mood of a Vaiṣṇava and spoke in words that did not befit Him.

Jayapatākā Swami: So, the Lord He transcendentally assumed the mood of a Vaiṣṇava, and He would say things which were not befitting Him, since He is the Supreme Personality of Godhead but He was in the mood of a devotee!

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Madhya-khaṇḍa 8.184

pūrve ye vaiṣṇava dekhi' `prabhu' kari' bale
e beṭā āmāra dāsa”, dhare tāra cule

Translation: Previously, whenever the Lord saw a Vaiṣṇava He addressed him as “Prabhu,”
but now He would grab them by the hair and announce, “This fellow is My servant.”

Jayapatākā Swami: So previously, when the Lord saw any Vaiṣṇava, He would address them as “Prabhu,” very respectfully. But when He was in His ecstasy, sometimes, He would grab the hair of a devotee and say, “this fellow is My servant.”

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Madhya-khaṇḍa 8.185

pūrve ye vaiṣṇava dekhi' dharaye caraṇa
tāra vakṣe uṭhi' kare caraṇa arpaṇa

Translation: Previously, whenever the Lord saw a Vaiṣṇava He would catch hold of his feet, but now He would climb on their chest and offer His feet to them.

Haribol!

So, the Lord manifested extreme ecstasy in love of Kṛṣṇa. Sometimes He would cry for three hours, sometimes He would laugh for three hours, sometimes He would dance wildly that He would touch His head with His feet. He was doing different amazing manifestations, turning different colors, falling to the ground, jumping up, roaring so loud that it pierced the universe. So, He was in such ecstasy that we cannot understand. Vṛndāvandās Ṭhākura, he was saying that just as a bird flying in a sky, can only fly so high in the unlimited sky, like that he can only explain only so much, but there is so much more that could not be explained. So, he said that if anyone hears the pastimes of Lord Caitanya with an open mind, then they will naturally develop love for Kṛṣṇa! Haribol! Gauuuuuurāṅga! Gaurāṅga! Gaurāṅga!

Any questions?

Question: Hare Kṛṣṇa Jayapatākā Swami: PAMRO. I am serving for the past one year in the 24 hours Vṛndāvana kīrtana-maṇḍalī. Please bless me that I should be able to serve without any offence in Vṛndāvana-dhāma, in the kīrtana-seva and thus help in preaching. Your spiritual son, Samadarśana Gaurcandra dāsa.

Jayapatākā Swami: I wrote a letter to him asking him where was he staying before, now that he is staying in Vṛndāvana. Where was he going from?

Question: Dear Guru Mahārāja, daṇḍavat praṇāma. AGTSP. Preaching is a thankless task, so what should be our mood to encourage ourselves to take care of newcomers? Guṇagrāhī Gaurāṅga dāsa.

Jayapatākā Swami: Why is preaching a thankless task? I don’t understand! By preaching, you are helping someone transcend the repetition of birth and death, you are helping someone to go back home back to Godhead. Why is it a thankless task? I don’t understand! You are doing the most important service, to help people to transcend the cycle of birth and death. So like Śrīla Prabhupāda, he could have stayed in Vṛndāvana, and certainly in the proximity of Rūpa Gosvāmī’s samādhi and Rādhā-Dāmodara temple. He was in the ideal place for liberation. But he took the risk of going to the West, to spread Kṛṣṇa consciousness, because he wanted to please his guru, because he saw that the people in the West were suffering so much in the material world. So he wanted to help them. If you see the great sacrifice of Śrīla Prabhupāda, then you should be encouraged to also take up preaching.

Question: Dear Guru Mahārāja, (Facebook question) from Nanda Priyā Premā devī dāsī. Guru Mahārāja, PAMRO. In the Caitanya Caritāmṛta, it is said that if one simply remembers Lord Gaurāṅga, difficult things become easy. Could you please explain this and expand how this is possible? Thank you very much. Your servant.

Jayapatākā Swami: Caitanya Caritamrita, Adi lila 14.1

kathañcana smrte Yasmin
duṣkaraṁ sukaraṁ bhavet
vismṛte viparītaṁ syāt
śrī-caitanyaṁ namāmi tam

Translation: Things that are very difficult to do become easy to execute if one somehow or other simply remembers Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu. But if one does not remember Him, even easy things become very difficult. To this Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu I offer my respectful obeisances.

Just like Srīla Prabhupāda asked Tamāla-Kṛṣṇa Gosvāmī to preach in China and normally that would be very difficult. But, he was always remembering Lord Caitanya, Śrīla Prabhupāda, and therefore it became very easy, and now we have so many devotees. So similarly, spreading Kṛṣṇa consciousness in the West is not easy, but if we remember Lord Caitanya, we can have great results. And if we try to do things that are easy, but we don’t remember Lord Caitanya, it becomes very difficult. Preaching in India is very easy, but if we don’t remember Lord Caitanya, it will become very difficult. Haribol!

Question: Dear Guru Mahārāja, PAMRO. (Guru Mahārāja said: Accepted). My question is, in this auspicious occasion of Gaura Pūrṇimā, what should we pray to Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu? Your spiritual son, Dvijanātha Gaurāṅga dāsa, Sylhet, Bangladesh.

Jayapatākā Swami: What do you think? What should you pray for? What did Kholāvecā Śrīdhara pray for? He was offered a kingdom, mystic powers, liberation, but he didn’t want anything! Then, he asked for service, I could serve Lord Caitanya in every one of His pastimes. Then Lord Caitanya gave Him love for Kṛṣṇa! What should you pray from Lord Caitanya?

Offering: On behalf of His Holiness Jayapatākā Svāmī Guru Mahārāja, Hirak and Mita, taking shelter at the lotus feet of Guru Mahārāja is offering 108 Bhagavad-gītās!

Also, Sandip Kumar Yadav, has offered 108 Bhagavad-gītās on behalf of Guru Mahārāja! Haribol!
