30 Oct 2020|Duration: 00:13:14|English|Zoom Sessions|Transcription|Śrī Māyāpur, India

The following is the Zoom visit to the Saṅkīrtanadeśa by His Holiness Jayapatākā Maharājā on Octorber 30th 2020 in Śrīdhāma Māyāpur, India.

mūkaṁ karoti vācālaṁ paṅguṁ laṅghayate girim
yat-kṛpā tam ahaṁ vande śrī-guruṁ dīna-tāraṇam
paramānanda-mādhavam śrī caitanya īśvaram

Hariḥ oṁ tat sat!

So I’m very happy to visit Śaṅkīrtanadeśa and very happy to hear the report of the wonderful observance of Puruṣottama month and others. Purpose of human life is we should actually serve Kṛṣṇa. Material life generally we are thinking of the body and we think that to make the body comfortable is the goal of life. Actually, the human life is a special facility to get out of this material world. Actually, we are here, kind of a prison house. Because in the spiritual world everyone wants to serve Kṛṣṇa, Rāma or Nārāyaṇa, but in the material world everyone thinks that they are the lord of everything. But in the spiritual world that illusion cannot remain. There everyone realizes that the Lord is the Lord. And if we serve Him, we actually get unlimited spiritual bliss. So, if we practice that service while we are in this material world. Then we can at the end of life transfer back to the spiritual world. And in the spiritual world there is no birth, death, old age, disease. Normally, it is very hard to get pure bhakti and even paṇḍitas, great sannyāsis, they don’t understand it. In the Bhagavad-gītā [7.19] in a verse bahūnāṁ janmanām ante jñānavān māṁ prapadyate after many many lives those who are intelligent, knowledgeable, they surrender to Me. But bhakti-yoga is practiced by anyone – ladies, vaiśyas, śūdras, sinful people. So that mercy was being distributed by Lord Caitanya and Nityānanda. They don’t considered that who is qualified and who is not qualified. And previous yugas, they had different processes like meditations, homa, temple worship. They could take an old horse and sacrifice him and bring him back to alive in a new body. But in this Age of Kali there is no such brāhmaṇas and so such yajñas are forbidden. So we are not able to do any of these difficult things in Kali-yuga. A Lord has come as His holy name and He has all the power in the holy name. Thus, so by chanting the holy name we can achieve all the results of the previous yugas. Śaṅkarācārya says, to achieve mokṣa one have to be a sannyāsī, but for the bhakti-yoga may be a householder, it can be sannyāsī; it doesn’t matter. So we want everyone to have a taste, his unlimited spiritual bliss. That’s why we are promoting the chanting of Hare Kṛṣṇa. Lord Caitanya gave three instructions balo-kṛṣṇa, bhaja-kṛṣṇa, kara-kṛṣṇa-śīkṣā. Chant Hare Kṛṣṇa, worship and serve Kṛṣṇa and third one is study the teaching of Lord Kṛṣṇa. Bhagavad-gītā is by Kṛṣṇa and Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam is about Kṛṣṇa. So we are grateful that we have different classes in Bhagavad-gītā and Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam. And sometimes people ask me how can they conquer their false-ego and different problems? By the chanting of Hare Kṛṣṇa mantra or and by performing devotional service all these obstacles are removed. Actually, they want real happiness but the senses give us both happiness and distress. So while we are in the material world, we will get sometimes sense happiness, sometimes sense suffering. But just like a fish out of water, we are out of our natural element, we want spiritual bliss. And that we get by chanting, by serving, and by hearing. And I am very grateful that, while you are all working at the sametime you are practicing your Kṛṣṇa consciousness. We want you to be happy, and comfortable in this life, you can go back to the spiritual world after this life. So I can speak a lot more, but want to have some time for ‘home visit’. So should I have a questions or do the home visit?

Devotee: Guru Mahārāja, home visit will be good. We don’t want to inconvenience to you.

Devotees: Guru Mahārāja kī… jaya! Prabhupāda kī… jaya!
