20190117 The Lord Proves His Words to Remove the Doubt of Śrīvāsa Ṭhākura (Part 1)

mūkaṁ karoti vācālaṁ paṅguṁ laṅghayate girim
yat-kṛpā tam ahaṁ vande śrī-guruṁ dīna-tāraṇam
paramānandaṁ mādhavaṁ śrī caitanya iśvaram

Hariḥ oṁ tat sat!

Introduction: Today is Putradā Ekādaśī here in Chennai. If you are interested in getting a son, then read what this Ekādaśī’s glories are. Today we had the physical therapy in the morning, then I went tricycling. The doctor said I need sunlight. My skin is too soft! Sunlight would make it better! So today we started a new regime of medicine, instead of taking twice a day, we are now taking once in 24 hours. So if you have any difficulty understanding something that I say, then write it down and we will include it in our voice therapy which will be tomorrow. Gīteśvarī Viṣṇupriyā and Kairava Candrīkā are seeing on the internet and emailing it to me. (The repeater told the audience there: The devotees who are present here if you find words difficult to understand, you can note down and give them to Uddhava Prabhu and we will take it up during voice therapy tomorrow). This evening I had Ekādaśī dosas and also Ekādaśī capattīs with nut butter and jam. Very sticky! So this chapter is that, “The Lord proves His words to remove the doubt of Śrīvāsa Ṭhākura”

Caitanya-bhāgavata Madhya-khaṇḍa 2.321

śrīvāsa bhrātuṣputrī nārāẏaṇīra vaiṣṇavī pratiṣṭhā

sanmukhe dekhaye eka bālikā āpani
śrīvāsera bhrātṛ-sutānāma ’nārāyaṇī’

Jayapatākā Swami: Lord Viśvambhara looked at Śrīvāsa Ṭhākura’s brother’s daughter, that is, Śrīvāsa’s niece, a small girl named Nārāyaṇī, standing before Him.

Caitanya-bhāgavata Madhya-khaṇḍa 2.322

adyāpiha vaiṣṇava-maṇḍale yāṅra dhvani
caitanyera avaśeṣa-pātra nārāyaṇī’

Jayapatākā Swami: Even today amongst the Vaiṣṇavas, we know that Nārāyaṇī, she is the recipient of Lord Caitanya’s māha-prasāda remnants. Sometimes ladies question their position in Caitanya Māhaprabhu’s movement. Here is an example how Lord Caitanya gave His mercy to a little girl, and also in the previous verses, He asked Śrīvāsa to bring His wife and other family members. So, doesn’t matter, which body you have, male body or female body, you get the mercy of Lord Caitanya! Haribol! Haribol!

Caitanya-bhāgavata Madhya-khaṇḍa 2.323

sarva-bhuta-antaryāmī śrī-gaurāṅga-cānda
ājñā kailā,—“nārāyaṇi! ’kṛṣṇa’ bali’ kānda

Jayapatākā Swami: As the Supersoul of all living entities, Śrī Gaurāṅga Candra, He gave the order to Nārāyaṇī – “Nārāyaṇī, chant the holy name of Kṛṣṇa and cry!”

Caitanya-bhāgavata Madhya-khaṇḍa 2.324

tatkṣaṇāt nārāẏaṇīra kṛṣṇanāme aśrupāta—

cāri vatsarera sei unmatta-carita
’hā kṛṣṇa’ baliyā kānde, nāhika samvita

Jayapatākā Swami: That four-year-old girl became mad in love of Kṛṣṇa! She cried out “HA KṚṢṆA! HA KṚṢṆA!” and she was crying and she forgot herself!

Caitanya-bhāgavata Madhya-khaṇḍa 2.325

aṅga vahi’ paḍe dhārā pṛthivīra tale
paripūrṇa haila sthala nayanera jale

Jayapatākā Swami: Flowing from her eyes and drenching her body, the tears fell to the ground, filling the area around her with the water of her tears!

Caitanya-bhāgavata Madhya-khaṇḍa 2.326

pratyakṣa-pramāṇa-pradarśanānte sahāsye prabhura, śrīvāsa bigatabhaẏa kinā, jijñāsā—

hāsiyā-hāsiyā bale prabhu viśvambhara
“ekhana tomāra ki ghucila saba ḍara?”

Jayapatākā Swami: Lord Viśvambhara Prabhu said smiling, “now your fears have been dispelled.”

Caitanya-bhāgavata Madhya-khaṇḍa 2.327

ekānta prapannaśreṣṭha śrīvāsera nirvhīkabhābe uttara–

mahāvaktāśrīnivāsa—sarva-tattva jāne
āsphāliyā dui bhuja bale prabhu-sthāne

Jayapatākā Swami: The great orator, Śrīnivāsa Prabhu, he knew all truths, he raised his arms and spoke the following to the Lord.

Caitanya-bhāgavata Madhya-khaṇḍa 2.328-329

“kāla-rūpī tomāra vigraha bhagavāne
yakhana sakala sṛṣṭi saṁhāriyā āne

takhana nā kari bhaya tora nāma-bale
ekhana kisera bhaya?—tumi mora ghare”

Jayapatākā Swami: You are the form of Time,Bhagavān! When You destroy all the creation, that time I don’t have fear, because I chant Your holy names. Now what fear can I have? You are present in my house! So Kapila muni the incarnation of Godhead spoke to His mother,Devahūti, that the blessings My devotees have, the transcendental opulence, they are never bereft of. Neither weapons or change of time can destroy such opulence because they accept Me as their friend, relative, son, preceptor, benefactor and Supreme deity. They cannot be deprived of their possessions at any time.

Caitanya-bhāgavata Madhya-khaṇḍa 2.330

premāveśe sa-bhṛtya-parikara śrīvāsera vedastutya prabhura aiśvaryaprakāśa-darśana

baliyā āviṣṭa hailā paṇḍita-śrīvāsa
goṣṭhīra sahita dekhe prabhura prakāśa

Jayapatākā Swami: As Paṇḍita Śrīvāsa speaking in this way, became overwhelmed in spiritual ecstasy, as he and his associates saw the Lord’s manifestation.

Caitanya-bhāgavata Madhya-khaṇḍa 2.331

cāri-vede yāṅre dekhibāre abhilāṣa
tāhā dekhe śrīvāsera yata dāsī dāsa

Jayapatākā Swami: He, whom the four Vedas desire to see, was seen by Śrīvāsa’s maid servants and the servants.

Caitanya-bhāgavata Madhya-khaṇḍa 2.332

granthakārera śrīvāsamahimā-kīrtana—

ki baliba śrīvāsera udāra caritra
yāṅhāra caraṇa-dhule saṁsāra pavitra

Jayapatākā Swami: What can I say about Paṇḍita Śrīvāsa’s magnanimous character? The dust from his lotus feet purifies the entire universe!!

Caitanya-bhāgavata Madhya-khaṇḍa 2.333

gaurāvatāre śrīvāsagṛhaï kṛṣṇavihāra-sthāna vṛndābana—

kṛṣṇa-avatāra yena vasudeva-ghare
yateka vihāra saba—nandera mandire

Jayapatākā Swami: Kṛṣṇa descended from the spiritual world to the house of Vasudeva. Yet He enjoyed various pastimes in the house of Nanda Mahārāja.

Caitanya-bhāgavata Madhya-khaṇḍa 2.334

jagannātha-ghare haila ei avatāra
śrīvāsa-paṇḍita-gṛhe yateka vihāra

Jayapatākā Swami: Similarly, the Lord appeared in the house of Jagannātha Miśra. And He enjoyed various pastimes in the house of Śrīvāsa Paṇḍita. So there are eleven more verses in the chapter. It is already quarter after nine. So, I will end here for today. We see that Śrīvāsa and all his family members and servants, they all got unlimited mercy.

So, Lord Caitanya, He was giving special mercy to Śrīvāsa Paṇḍita and to all his family members and even servants. So, by serving His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami we can also get Nitāi Gaura’s special mercy!! So, there is a śloka where the Lord tells Arjuna, “Those who say that they are My devotees actually, they are not My devotees, those who are the devotees of My devotees are My true devotees”! Haribol!
