19880829 Arrival Address

19880829 -The following is an arrival of his grace given by His Holiness Jayapatākā Swami Mahārāja on August 29th 1988, in Trivandrum, India.

Thank you for the welcome extended by the devotees here of the Trivandrum center of the International Society forHare Kṛṣṇa consciousness. We have… We have His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Śrīla Prabhupāda. The International Society forHare Kṛṣṇa Consciousness has been expanding the principles of sanatan dharma all over the world in a very fast way. Now we must have heard that the recent succession of eastern countries European and soviet Russia. Under the general secretary ship of Mr. Ghorbachev TheHare Kṛṣṇa conscious movement has been given recognition in Soviet Russia. Now the devotees are chanting the Hare Kṛṣṇa mahamantra on the street in Moscow and Leningrad on a regular basis. Also, Poland has given recognition for theHare Kṛṣṇa conscious society as well. Now devotees there are able to freely distribute the Bhagavad-gītā in polish language throughout the city. Actually, people are lining up in queues in order to get Bhagavad-gītā in Poland. Just like here in Trivandrum they are lining up in a queue to see cinema there they are lining up in a queue to buy Bhagavad-gītā.

They are so eager to read Bhagavad-gītā because before they could not get the Bhagavad-gītā so easily.  When the movement was not recognized they had this Bhagavad-gītā to Poland from western Europe and one Bhagavad-gītā cost the same as one-month salary still people were eager to buy. So, because Chaitanya Mahāprabhu predicted that this chanting of Harinam sankirtan was spread all over the world to every town and village.

Chanting process and reading Bhagavad-gītā is so sublime that anyone who practices in any part of the world they feel peace and bliss.  There is a reason for this that by nature we are actually spirit souls, we are eternal spirits which make this material body alive. When spirit leaves the body, the body is called dead. Actually, the body is never alive. The body is felt alive because of the presence of the atma the jiva atma the spirit soul. Actually, the body is the machine made of the material energy; the difference is that the machine which can carry the spirit soul. Therefore, it’s a very useful machine. This machine is a tapecorder where we can tape what we are speaking or singing. We came in the life members ambassador card and this also machine for going to the one place to the next. Every machine has good and bad qualities, every machine has its ultimate use or purpose. So, the Bhagavad-gītā said this material body is the machine of material energy and eight million four hundred thousand species of life, these are different species of body. Human body is considered the best. Why is that? Why is the human body considered better than animal body? This is because only the human body can eat and animals cannot eat, no animals also eat. Because human beings only have procreation or sex life and the animal cannot have no animals also have it or is it only because human beings can sleep or can defend itself.

Even animals can sleep and defend themselves with their paws. Why are human beings called best in all the creatures because human beings can understand who am I,! Who is the God the Supreme Personality Bhagavan śrī Hare Kṛṣṇa!  Whether he is Russian or Polish or American or Indian any human being can understand these things with the proper guidance of a proper spiritual master. Therefore, people in Russia now because they are practicing the teachings of Bhagavad-gītā and chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa under the guidance of the followers of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedant SwamiŚrīla Prabhupāda therefore they are getting spiritual bliss also from that spiritual platform. Actually, the people of India are considered to have the best opportunity for understanding spiritual science. Because here, so many great acharyas avatars have given the preaching opportunity is very great for studying and practicing all these things. We are at least many of these developed people gone and taken as occupations. When I discuss in the gulf area many of them attend Bhagavad-gītā classes, they find great happiness by chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa and reading Bhagavad-gītā in the Gulf.

When we were travelling, we never got any time for this because they were always thinking about how to get to the gulf. But now we are here in the gulf, we already have a job, we are sitting, there is nothing to do just only sand, air-conditioners and earn. We can stay here forever; we had made some money to bring it back to kerala and go back home. So, we find it by chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa reading Bhagavad-gītā we get great peace of mind which we couldn’t realize how much happiness is present within these things. Coming from the airport I saw so many advertisements to watch adult movies which advertising sense gratification but that sense gratification even animals can have.

But animals cannot take transcendental ecstasy of chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa and eatingHare Kṛṣṇa prasadam and enjoying the philosophy of Bhagavad-gītā and Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam. So, Actually, this is the real treasure that you can achieve in human life; this is transcendental happiness. Kali yuga is the time of great maya, where maya the illusion tries to take up mind away from Hare Kṛṣṇa.  But by chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa we can focus our mind on Hare Kṛṣṇa again and experience the original happiness within.  Whether as a householder or as a brahmachari anyone can experience this happiness by chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa. So, actually, very fortunate we can hear you can easily chant Hare Kṛṣṇa. In Russia they are enjoying happiness from chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa, but they are not able to offer such nice prasadam to Hare Kṛṣṇa. They are not getting so many nice vegetables and fruits they will never be able to get coconut because when you get coconut in Russia it’s a cold place, they are able to get cabbage. Cabbage everyone knows cabbage. So, they are preparing various types of cabbage preparation, but they can also get rice and some wheat.

So, they bought me Indian meal from Russia. They fed me one special laddu which they made from some rice flour wheat flour milk.  I had one laddu I never saw before it’s a different type of shape but even though one Russian laddu I was completely satisfied with the whole day. They were very very happy that there were so many nice coconut and jackfruit and various kinds of vegetables that you are having to offer to Hare Kṛṣṇa as Hare Kṛṣṇa prasadam.

This year Rath yatra festival in Bangalore the mayor of Bangalore Mr. Seshadri and movie star Mr. Anantnag inaugurated the festival and thousands of devotees who are seeing the Rath go by. In Kolkata we have the Rath yatra festival where the vice counsel general of the soviet union along with the counsel general wife and son inaugurated the Kolkata Rath yatra festival and they swept the road before the Lord Jagannath offered aarti and pulled the Rath, this way… They also gave a very nice speech praising the Hare Kṛṣṇa conscious movement for the good work that was doing around the world and in Russia.

Actually, Lord Chaitanya said that people of India take this science and spread it all over the world. We need specially some candidates to take this message to different parts of the world.  Here in Kerala, we can also recruit some worldwide preachers if anyone would like to help in spreading this culture to different parts of the world.  They like to also taste Idli, Dosas, Appam and various types of preparations which are very popular here in Kerala (laughter). Very popular specially I know in South America they have… they like to learn how to prepare all these things. They also have modern cities in that continent.  This way every town and village of the whole world should all be flooded with love of God, that plan of course originally came from India.

So, thank all of you for helping Hare Kṛṣṇa conscious movement and coming to the function. We know that you are all very dear to Lord Hare Kṛṣṇa here in Kerala Guruvayur Lord Hare Kṛṣṇa very dear deities for everyone as well as Trivandrum Padmanabhan, the avatar of Mahavishnu is also beloved to all people that means you all are very blessed people.

Everyone should every day chant this Hare Kṛṣṇa mahamantra for some time. How many of you are presently chanting every day? How many of you will try chanting? How many are chanting or group study chanting? Those who are not going to try only say going to try some time … very wonderful. We have many devotees

Guru Maharaja: - The secret you have to chant the name of Chaitanya Mahāprabhu before you chant Hare Kṛṣṇa then you get benefit, effect. One week, try six months. One week is not anything. Because take average a life member [Not audible] then they should also chant Hare Kṛṣṇa just being life member one time giving donation and then nothing doing they won’t get full benefit. If you buy the medicine and keep it how you don’t eat it (not Audible) They are reading all the books How many times they read the books [Not audible] because life members they got very [not audible] this whole world is a problem. Even already [Not audible].

So, no one has any doubt. If they have doubt they should ask questions. You are chanting a stotra there is some verse there, those verses have some meaning. Then you can understand by meaning what he has chanting [Not audible] You don’t understand the meaning [Not audible]. Hare Kṛṣṇa.
