19880501 Caitanya-caritāmṛta Madhya-līlā 19.136-143 Sunday Feast Lecture

The following is the class given by His Holiness Jayapatākā Swami on May 01,1988, Atlanta Georgia. The class begins with a reading from Caitanya-caritāmṛta Madhya- līlā chapter 19, Text 136 through 143.

 

His Holiness Jayapatākā Swami: 500 years ago, Sri Kṛṣṇa Caitanya Mahāprabhu appeared in the East with Lord Nityānanda and they brought this process of chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa in a congregation to the masses of people.

Lord Caitanya did not write any books himself, he did not created anything new tradition or new philosophy or such, what he did was simply referred the original Vedas.

 

Especially the Bhagavad-gītā and Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, actually the knowledge was there but it was not properly applied, so therefore he didn’t write any new book but he only wrote eight verses , he directed his  followers to study the book from there he quoted how to apply it properly, so one time he met, one of he got, great , he was actually the finance minister for the government at that time the emperor of Husain shah , the emperor of pañca Gauḍīya, whole Northern India , North Eastern India, and Rūpa gosvāmī wanted to know from him the essence of Spiritual life and what was real purpose of life, he wanted to surrender to him so then Lord Caitanya taught him in 12 days. In 12 days gave him the entire essence of Kṛṣṇa consciousness, so the few beginning lessons that he gave I will just read few verses from here

 

CC Madhya 19.136

 

prabhu kahe, — śuna, rūpa, bhakti-rasera lakṣaṇa

sūtra-rūpe kahi, vistāra nā yāya varṇana

 

Translation:

 

Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu said, “My dear Rūpa, please listen to Me. It is not possible to describe devotional service completely; therefore, I am just trying to give you a synopsis of the symptoms of devotional service.

 

CC Madhya 19.137

 

Translation:

 

“The ocean of the transcendental mellows of devotional service is so big that no one can estimate its length and breadth. However, just to help you taste it, I am describing but one drop.

 

CC Madhya 19.138

 

eita brahmāṇḍa bhari’ ananta jīva-gaṇa

caurāśī-lakṣa yonite karaye bhramaṇa

 

Translation:

 

“In this universe there are limitless living entities in 8,400,000 species, and all are wandering within this universe.

 

Prabhupāda, our founder ācārya Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupāda, he gave his explanation of

 

Purport:

 

This is a challenge to so-called scientists and philosophers who presume that there are living entities on this planet only. So-called scientists are going to the moon, and they say that there is no life there. This does not tally with Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu’s version. He says that everywhere within the universe there are unlimited numbers of living entities in 8,400,000 different forms. In the Bhagavad-gītā (2.24) we find that the living entities are sarva-gata, which means that they can go anywhere. This indicates that there are living entities everywhere. They exist on land, in water, in air, in fire and in ether. Thus there are living entities in all types of material elements. Since the entire material universe is composed of five elements — earth, water, fire, air and ether — why should there be living entities on one planet and not others? Such a foolish version can never be accepted by Vedic students. From the Vedic literatures we understand that there are living entities on each and every planet, regardless of whether the planet is composed of earth, water, fire or ether. These living entities may not have the same forms that are found on this planet earth, but they have different forms composed of different elements. Even on this earth we can see that the forms of land animals are different from the forms of aquatics. According to the circumstance, living conditions differ, but undoubtedly there are living entities everywhere. Why should we deny the existence of living entities on this or that planet? Those who have claimed to have gone to the moon have not gone there, or else with their imperfect vision they cannot actually perceive the particular type of living entities there.

The living entities are described as ananta, or unlimited; nonetheless, they are said to belong to 8,400,000 species. As stated in the Viṣṇu Purāṇa:

jala-jā nava-lakṣāṇi sthāvarā lakṣa-viṁśati

kṛmayo rudra-saṅkhyakāḥ pakṣiṇāṁ daśa-lakṣaṇam

triṁśal-lakṣāṇi paśavaḥ catur-lakṣāṇi mānuṣāḥ

“There are 900,000 species living in the water. There are also 2,000,000 non-moving living entities (sthāvara), such as trees and plants. There are also 1,100,000 species of insects and reptiles, and there are 1,000,000 species of birds. As far as quadrupeds are concerned, there are 3,000,000 varieties, and there are 400,000 human species.” (Guru Maharaj saying: End of translation). Some of these species may exist on one planet and not on another, but in any case, within all the planets of the universe — and even in the sun — there are living entities. This is the verdict of the Vedic literatures. As the Bhagavad-gītā (2.20) confirms:

na jāyate mriyate vā kadācin

nāyaṁ bhūtvā bhavitā vā na bhūyaḥ

ajo nityaḥ śāśvato ’yaṁ purāṇo

na hanyate hanyamāne śarīre

Translation:

“For the soul there is neither birth nor death at any time. He has not come into being, does not come into being, and will not come into being. He is unborn, eternal, ever-existing and primeval. He is not slain when the body is slain.”

Since the living entities are never annihilated, they simply transmigrate from one life form to another. Thus, there is an evolution of forms according to the degree of developed consciousness. One experiences different degrees of consciousness in different forms. A dog’s consciousness is different from a man’s. Even within a species we find that a father’s consciousness is different from his son’s and that a child’s consciousness is different from a youth’s. Just as we find different forms, we find different states of consciousness. When we see different states of consciousness, we may take it for granted that the bodies are different. In other words, different types of bodies depend on different states of consciousness. This is also confirmed in the Bhagavad-gītā (8.6):

yaṁ yaṁ vāpi smaran bhāvaṁ tyajanty ante kalevaram

taṁ tam evaiti kaunteya sadā tad bhāva-bhāvitaḥ

One’s consciousness at the time of death determines one’s type of body in the next life. This is the process of transmigration of the soul. A variety of bodies is already there; we change from one body to another in terms of our consciousness.

So in a universe there are limitless living entities, 8,400,000 spices, this may appear difficult to understand it that how it is possible that life on the moon, or on the mars or other places where this part we see that to sustain life we call oxygen generally the scientist look what type of planet has oxygen , if they find same composition of oxygen, carbon dioxide whether they considered well, there must be life on that planet, but this is a very narrow minded view point on what  is life is, but according to Vedas life can be exist, different forms of life in different environment, life is present everywhere in the universe.

Recently there  was a very unusual discovery by marine scientist, that underneath the surface of the earth,  on the ocean, there was a volcano, some kind of when the volcanic erosion coming up, and especially this was a constant flow of ammonia gas , now ammonia gas is highly toxic and any type of living entity that fish or humans anything that comes in ammonia gas very quickly die.

But the scientist very amazed to find that around the Ammonia gas coming out from the ocean floor  there were both plant as well as specific kind of fish which was simply living in the gas, when they took those plants and fish away from the gas they will die, if another, ordinary fish flow in the gas , it will immediately also die, but that there was certain living , plant and animals, they were the fish, they were actually  living on the ammonia gas, there metabolism is based breathing ammonia.

 

Just like the fish breath oxygen to dissolve in the water, these fish and plants, they couldn’t  breadth oxygen, they could only breadth ammonia , this was the unique thing, so this amazing discovery actually supported the version from the Vedas, that living entities are everywhere within the universe, they may be in some places the whole atmosphere of ammonia, so there may be the living entities they breathe ammonia , or they may be a another type of atmosphere or even more a subtle situation, living entities can also live in various types of atmosphere.

Just like when a person digs in the ground, you find that underneath the ground there are so many worms, so many living entities are there in the ground , even when you go high in the sky, the airplane find that sometimes there was jet ran into a mosquito twenty nine, thirty thousand feet above the sea level they got into the engine and caused some disturbance , so there living entities able to live in all this extreme environment.

So similarly all over the universe, what is this actually, how is this, apply to us, this means that now we are living here as a human being, in this particular planet at this particular place, but actually we are the living force, living entity within the body and for some time we are this planet , this body, this country, but after we leave this body, then again we may take birth in any other planet, in any other place not only this planet, or even as a human being, but as other species or other type of human beings in other place, this is explained from the Vedas, what is the nature of the living entity,

CC Madhya 19.140

 

keśāgra-śata-bhāgasya

śatāṁśaḥ sādṛśātmakaḥ

jīvaḥ sūkṣma-svarūpo ’yaṁ

saṅkhyātīto hi cit-kaṇaḥ

“ ‘If we divide the tip of a hair into a hundred parts and then take one of these parts and divide it again into a hundred parts, that very fine division is the size of but one of the numberless living entities. They are all cit-kaṇa, particles of spirit, not matter.’

Kṛṣṇa explains in the Bhagavad-gītā

mamaivāṁśo jīva-loke

jīva-bhūtaḥ sanātanaḥ

Prabhupāda explains

The living entities in this conditional world…..conditioned world are My (Lord Kṛṣṇa, Himself is speaking) are my eternal fragmental my parts and parcel,  the Kṛṣṇa is the name of the supreme spirit , He is the supreme soul we are small particles of Kṛṣṇa, the same spark whether in ant body or whether an elephant body whether very small or very large we are actually moving for this living entity which is a small spiritual atom, like an atom, like a small spiritual particle , although is small, it has more power than millions of suns, which is eternal,  never die, it can’t be divided, it can’t be wet, when the body dies, this little spiritual spark goes again and takes a new birth according to its consciousness. How the consciousness is developed, actually the spiritual spark is wonderful if we can understand by self, spiritual person, or the spiritual of God, part of the supreme god, we can, realize that we are eternal, we never die, we never born, that’s actually the perfection of knowledge that is the true understand of life, in this world people are suffering. Why.?

In the newspaper everyday there are so many problems in the world, sometimes what is the Hare Kṛṣṇa movement doing for the problems of the world? And although we see hundreds and thousands of millions of people every day prasādam around the world, we do various types of  -very considered these activities because of feeding, or specifically those, welfare activities that we do which are more disciplinary relationship with the body  they considered this to be the most important activity, and the spiritual determination of  knowledge is considered may to be much lower in priority or value, it’s unfortunate in one sense, it’s actually because , we study what are the problems in the world just like so many wars going on at present, something like 45 wars going on in the world , most of its ,lot of research we do , to exploitation various  sentiments, like someone is born as Sikh , or born as a Hindu, or born as a Tamil or born as a Salamis, or born as a Sunni or Siya Muslim or born as a Jew, or born as a Palestinian , as if they identify with themselves the particular body, and just like a cat is the enemy of dog and dogs are the enemies of cat and  as soon as  cats and dogs meet immediately spontaneously have some enmity, we will have  these whites and blacks the various types of bodily distinction, there is so much prejudice, hatred, envy even wars going on in the world , it is not actually due to religion even, is due to racial kind of problem why because people don’t realize they are not the body, they don’t realize that now we have taken birth  in this particular country and in particular family but that doesn’t’ t mean that the real identity.

Just like someone may go  on to join in diners club, then he may resign and join other club , someone may be a one nationality and change and wear one set of cloths  and then change it, these are not our real identity, this is not actually our real nature, we are the a  living force within the body, when the body dies, we go on , we don’t die.

So someone may be born an American in this life, next life, he may be born as Russian, you see, when he is dying, if he is thinking of Russians , he may take next birth as Russian,  (Devotee laughs_), those who are dying, fighting their…..18.56 they may next life in the opposite side, whatever you think about of when you die, that will you attain, so in this way, of course, there is a special advantage for thinking about Kṛṣṇa at the time of death  then you go back to Kṛṣṇa, not that you become Kṛṣṇa but you will go to the planet of Kṛṣṇa, go back to the spiritual world, but that’s we can discuss it later, what we are discussing now is that about the soul, about the self, the people they born into this world then they simply identify , so this is my mother, this is my father, this is who I am, than according to that they form a opinion of themselves, there may be due to various philosophical, ideological, development, that they may tend to  identify themselves according their ism, I am followers of communism , I am a follower of capitalism, I am a follower of altruism  or humanism, this all becomes on the mental platform and that may change.

Someone may be a pragmatics and may later on become a liberals in this way this may change according to the environment of development…20.22 of just like the philosophy that are prevalent in the world, in the west they continually undergoing various changes.

Now America  is going to  conservative mood, in the past they went other different changes, who knows  the mood that is going to be in the future, so, people identify with the body or with the mental outlook and then they assign friends and enemies, likes and dislikes, in this way they are trying to find different  allies for their struggles with life, different friends, 21.05 as they changes, their relationship change since these things are always  changing even people come together as friends may be as they added to change their part again, they become enemy sometime , so friendship on the basis of  having a similar outlook on life  is not very permanent because outlooks may change, friendship on the basis of having some similar caste, creed or colour or birth relationship there is even at a lower level of simply bodily identification, specially real friendship is that which is  based on the intelligence is based on the soul , the Bhagavad-gītā  specifically deals with the level of intelligence, above the physical and mental level, to understand the intelligence who am I. Am I the body? That always changing, am I the mind, it’s always changing its outlook.NO.

Actually, to understand I am the soul, I am the living entity I am the spiritual spark, spiritual …dynamic force within the body, and then realize, that spiritual force has an origin, it is part of Kṛṣṇa.

Kṛṣṇa says

mamaivāṁśo jīva-loke

jīva-bhūtaḥ sanātanaḥ

All living entities are my parts and parcels, whatever qualities we have we are micro percent of that, we possess in a small minute fraction basic quality which are eternally existence in God, that only difficulty is that we are not perfect, therefore inauspicious quality are conflict so they are impure, pervading way in many cases, many examples wherein the supreme lord they are perfect they all good, so we understand the nature of the soul. Then we can see well everyone, everyone in the world coming from the same sources, they are all spiritual quality, but they are covered by the various material covering depending on the covering that’s how their consciousness is coming from.

 

Just like you are wearing glasses -sun glasses , if you wear yellow glass you will see everything yellow, if you wear red glasses you see everything red , if you black you will see everything dark blue and everything blue, according to the colour of glass that you are wearing , sun glasses, then you will see everything has change, so similarly  depending on the type of body that covers  the soul that’s how the consciousness comes out, now, in the animal species the consciousness is very deeply covered, consider like a child in the womb, a child in the womb is a embryo is not developed, only then when the child become born, will that actually developed, and it is full consciousness, in the womb is not able to manifest its potential, similarly animals they have consciousness but their consciousness were not fully developed till they leave the animal species and come up to the human species, they have consciousness they feel pain and pleasure they have intelligence, just like in if you take the example of a cat, say a wife , some cats like to eat fish

 

In India there was a housewife and she was cooking a fish, and the cat was just watching from outside the kitchen what she is doing, and the housewife she leaves the kitchen and goes somewhere, and at that time, this is opportune moment, the cat runs in grabs the fish and runs off, wife comes back and sees where is the fish? Is this not intelligence?

 

The cat has intelligence, not that they have no intelligence but their intelligence is limited to how to eat, how to catch a mouse, mouse, the tigers in jungle they are very clever, they wait for the - in Bengal went recently had a tour to Sundarbans, Sundarbans are the jungle on the very Southern part of Bengal, Bangladesh.

 

Of course in Bangladesh you have to go 30miles off the cave road, and we reached this very remote village, where one or two sponsored a program, and just a week before they were two villagers gone to get honey from the Sundarbans forest and the tigers can swim, the tigers swam next to the boat, and they took the boat, ….25.59grab them, they are very clever, they know how to get their prey, how to get what they want, the human being may be can be trained to be more clever.

 

Actually, that’s not the real perfection of human intelligence, just how to be more clever and depending oneself or how to get enough food to eat or a place to sleep or how to impress someone else so we can have some nice friendship, and find a boyfriend or girlfriend that type of intelligence, is there in the animals, they are making friends, they are having family, even the lion cub, just two years before in really go hunting on its own.

 

The lion takes the baby cub wherever they go, feed the cub, protect the cub, they have their family life not that family life is exclusive to the human being.

In fact,  in India a calf dies the mother cries the cow cries, so what the farmer does is sometimes cow is so sad when the calf dies, it stop giving milk then the  farmer takes the dead calf and skins it and stuffs it, then hangs it in front of the cow, and then the cow smells, it’s my calf then she was happy then start giving milk again, she doesn’t  realize that  this is the dead skin of the calf, calf is dead, doesn’t have that developed intelligence, so like this, but in the  kingdom they have family life.

 

It is not humans have family life. The mother bird brings food home for the little babies, when the egg hatch, the human being has the full capacity to understand that I am not this body. You can’t tell a dog you are not a dog; you are eternal living entity. you are born before cat, now you become dog, next life you become a horse, you are wasting your time, dog won’t understand woff, woff….that’s it (Devotee laughs) tell them about I just wanted to know my dogs  food  (Devotee laughs) , so that’s where the animals are actually different from human beings, they don’t have the intelligence to understand who is God , who , what is life, these are philosophical  things , that they don’t have the capacity, but the human being do.,,

 

Actually, Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupāda when he came to the western world, his concern that we are American a leading nation in the world, we have, very advanced, materially advanced, technological nation and they develop science and such degree but unfortunately, they haven’t understood the difference between animal life and human life or the difference of the purpose of human life.

 

Actually, human life is meant ultimately to achieve liberation from the whole material world, to achieve freedom from this type of bodily consciousness to come to the higher level of God consciousness, or Kṛṣṇa Consciousness, you come to the level to realize that I am part of God, we can see how everyone else is also part of God, then we can actually have true brotherhood based on having a common father, based on having a common origin, common root.

 

Our forefathers of this particular body may be from Africa, or from Germany, or from  America everybody comes from somewhere else except for the red Indians. We don’t know where they come from originally, thousands of years before they may also come from somewhere else, so everyone can take back that the material history that is not real identity, it’s not that once materially has to again and again be born in the same family rather the opposite is normally true. We are not necessarily, we are not to born in the same family, born in different places and different families in most cases, actually we don’t know our real identity, we don’t know, who we are?

 

Until we come to the point of understanding what is life?  Here Lord Caitanya he is explaining that 8,400,000 species of life in the world, he in different species, the soul the minute that is transmigrate between the different species, he explains:

 

Translation:

 CC Madhya 19.143

 

“‘O Lord, although the living entities who have accepted material bodies are spiritual and unlimited in number, if they were all-pervading there would be no question of their being under Your control. If they are accepted, however, as particles of the eternally existing spiritual entity — as part of You, who are the supreme spirit whole — we must conclude that they are always under Your control. If the living entities are simply satisfied with being identical with You as spiritual particles, then they will be happy being controllers of so many things. The conclusion that the living entities and the Supreme Personality of Godhead are one and the same is a faulty conclusion. It is not a fact.’

 

Once we accept first Lord Caitanya explain there are many living entities, in different species , and these are all spiritual parts now  people are coming to know more and more in the whole new age movement they are coming to understand that we are spiritual force and the spiritual powers within us they can be developed, they can be brought out, but then why do the this force come from  what is the nature , is this spiritual particle the spiritual  soul , God, and the answer given here is the spiritual part is the same quality of God , the same quality but not the same quantity.

 

Just like a drop in a ocean is salty and in a drop you won’t find whales, sharks , you just find microorganism, but the salty party of the water  you find basic similar , saltiness is there similar composition of water is there , ocean of water , many other things won’t see in a drop, similarly  within the supreme soul, there are many different, degrees of the same quality, but the basic quality is not different, so, here some philosophical point is given which sounds a little bit complicated.

 

Now if the soul was all pervading, in other words, if we are actually all pervasive souls and that we have just depend on the body, and when we realize our self….we realize that I am all pervasive, I am God,   if that was the case when was the actual things that we have to realize that I am God. In that case, then why are we under control of this body, why do we have to become liberated, if we are actually all pervasive, then how we are covered up?

 

In other words, if we are God, lot of people think, I am God, this is a very popular notion, we are God in quality not in quantity, there is a supreme God, if they are God, they are supreme God. We are not supreme, we are small parts of God, if we are God, then we would be all pervasive, then we wouldn’t  be under the control of this world, under this body, we wouldn’t be limited like ,we wouldn’t be forced to get traffic tickets and get off all kinds of difficulties we are doing under the control of the body, we identify we are this material body , how can  you bring all the pervasive God, under this limited body, but if you accept as it says here , but if you accept however, particles of eternally existing spiritual entity , a part of you from Supreme,…. If you are a part then, you can be covered, if you all pervasive, if you are God? its big mistake people making, many people think that I am God, they start to realize they are a part of God, the spiritual oasis, spiritual reality, but they go on to next thinking no we are God, it’s a mistake.

 

 God by definition can never be God under illusion, we are in illusion now it‘s time to realize who we are, our spiritual identity, our spiritual potential, that means we are starting to awaken, that is we are covered , we are in illusion, so if you are actually God – we can’t be  born in illusion.

 

The Kṛṣṇa consciousness is not to teach people they are God, we teach that you are a part of God. Being part of knowing who I am is the most important thing. if I think I am someone I am not, it is like a form of insanity, someone thinks he is Napoleon, he walks around with his hand in his shirt, and people just think he is nuts. if one has any practical value, if I go around thinking I am God, I am God, I may satisfy my ego, when in reality, if I am not God, what is the use of….., but if I realize who is God, what is  my relationship with God?, who and what is  actually my real position is in the universe? that  is valuable, that’s what we need to know.            

           

If someone knows exactly how he fits in, he can be ahead of everyone, it’s like why we find lawyers they make good progress  mostly in politics,  because they know serving the law, what is the whole Government system, so they have advantage over the ordinary person, and they may not  understand all the intricacies of the system ,if you know the whole universal situation, how you fit in, what is the relationship with the universe, with nature, with the  laws of nature, with the Supreme Lord, even with other living entity even from the material point of view. Your position is far beyond anyone else is, this ordinary thing that disturbs and cause other great problems won’t affect you, just like a small child becomes very upset over little things are not important. In the world today we are having wars, people are mass murderer of each other, over illusion, they don’t even realize who they are and they are fighting some kind of racial, some kind of obvious illusion, and ignorance.

 

So Śrīla Prabhupāda, Bhaktivedanta Swami he said, that the most important welfare work that can be done in the world today is to waken up the living people of the world to their realize spiritual identity, waken them up from the type of base animals outlook on life what they see themselves is a real kind of animals, based on their body, based on their colour and we suffer because of that everyone is suffering so, being a human being is therefore very very important opportunity.

 

Opportunity now, in the human form of life, we can take opportunity of human intelligence to understand what is the real purpose of life? how do we fit in and then ask in a proper consciousness, then the modern technology, modern everything, amenities they can all be used in a proper manner. Vedic culture should be total harmony between man and is environment because the lack of spiritual knowledge our ecologies are also being destroyed, instead of thinking of overall welfare of the planet, of the universe, of the human being we are thinking of only a very limited - economic goal, which in a long run is going to cause not only economic disaster but other form of disaster as well.

 

Actually Kṛṣṇa consciousness is the most  , we would humbly submit to all of you present, actually the most important welfare work that should be done, to educate the people on the science of Bhagavad-gītā and Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, the science of the soul the science of life, it is not the every, it is nothing missing in the western world, here  in America what is missing, there is part of  video,  there is  plenty of things to see, things to do , things to eat, there is so many cloths, the houses, the vehicles, its’ everything , why then people are not fully satisfied?

 

Why are people have to take shelter of drugs, and so many things just to get some happiness, why they are not complete in themselves? They have all the material facilities, it’s a very important question.

 

Prabhupāda said that actually the people in America they have everything, they are good looking, they are intelligence, they have all these material possessions, only thing they are missing is the spiritual knowledge. They are missing Kṛṣṇa consciousness, if they have God consciousness, if they have Spiritual consciousness, then everything else is fits into the place.

 

Other like Jesus says: “You can’t take anything with you.” All material possessions are rather obstacles to go into the spiritual world, all the material possessions, but according to Caitanya Mahāprabhu if you use the material possessions  in Kṛṣṇa’s service, if you know the proper use of  them, they are not an obstacle they can also be an aid , if you know that  I am not actually the owner I am just like a leafy I am having it for sometimes, but they are not going to stay with me, they are ultimately the property of supreme Lord, I can use it for my need, my maintenance, and in purpose I use should use it for his service.

           

So, these are some of the highlights of Kṛṣṇa Consciousness of course , for us Kṛṣṇa is very special being a always of course there are many forms and many names of God, Kṛṣṇa is the original , for the devotees even more than just the title over the position of  being with supreme Lord, Actually the more they know about Kṛṣṇa as a person, as an individual, that the more they develop, very passionation, attraction and attachment, a love, it’s  very practical  , it’s much easier if you develop love by knowing about someone, than just a theoretical. So Kṛṣṇa he has so many wonderful qualities. Just like yesterday, we have observed the appearance day of Kṛṣṇa when he came as nṛsiḿhaḥ dev, where he came and protected his devotee, devotee was been prosecuted he was asked that, you say God is all pervasive, he is everywhere, well I am going to kill you right now, now will your God come and save you ?, he’s everywhere, is he here….. here in this pillar? if I smash down this pillar will he come and save you?

 

Come on let us see whether God saves  you now, I will kill you , he curses , curses the little boy, now I am going to kill you, no one will save you and smashes the column, just see now  you are dead, all of a sudden  out of the column comes nṛsiḿhaḥ dev , (Devote laughs)… can you believe it, how did this come out of  the column, out of nowhere, and protected his devotee so this 42.10….Lord always protects His devotee, then it was like Kṛṣṇa was in with his friends the Pāṇḍava.

 

He established them the rulers of the planet, and then Kṛṣṇa was going back to His own place when he was here five thousand years ago having His pastimes and then His aunty, so called aunty, when He appeared in the certain family so some people are considered themselves as relation, although I am supposed to be your aunty, I know you are the supreme Lord, you are the lord of everyone.

 

Actually, only the pure devotee can have you and she offered so many wonderful prayers. you saw in the prayers of Queen Kunti a wonderful book published by the Bhaktivedanta Book Trust, requested Kṛṣṇa, you please stay, don’t go now, when Kṛṣṇa went on, he accepted all these prayers but did what enough to stop him.

 

Then he came there was his friend Yudhiṣṭhira maharaja ,who was at them time, just made the emperor, but he actually had a deep affection for Kṛṣṇa, and when he saw Kṛṣṇa leaving he just got Krsna’s hand and he was just crying and Kṛṣṇa please stay for few more days, because they are so so love and affection , so Kṛṣṇa saw , he also ,and He couldn’t say no to His devotee, like this there is so many little thing, you read about, hear about Kṛṣṇa, from the devotee, if you hear about Kṛṣṇa from some other devotee they give their own interpretation and they add something they don’t know the inner nectar about that, they don’t actually have the flavour they don’t have taste for they just add some dry way and you won’t get the real feeling to really know about Kṛṣṇa one has to  just like if you want to know about someone you hear about him from a friend and hear about some real inside, you have to know about Kṛṣṇa you have to hear from a devotee of Kṛṣṇa, then you can get the actually feelings of supreme lord , what he Likes, if you hear from an atheist, or some person who doesn’t believe there is personality of  Godhead, 44.30they just in a dry fashion  which you won’t be able to get the real taste for it.

           

Just like  Kṛṣṇa had a friend, who was his school friend he was very poor and his name was Vipra sudama , and he was a Brahmin, Kṛṣṇa that means like a priest, Kṛṣṇa he plays the role as a son of a king, just like, a party was playing when he was in the Dvārakā, , so the Vipra Sudama, his friend, his wife kept pressing him, he were so poor, he don’t have anything in the house, the roof has a leak in it , like my clothes are old and I have nothing, you have the richest friend your Kṛṣṇa, he is big rich king. I even hear like a supreme Lord or something has come down, you will get everything there.

 

Just in Dvārakā, why don’t you go tell Him, give us a little something  you know, we are so poor, you know he never asked Kṛṣṇa friend , he is my friend, there are like school mate.

 

Kṛṣṇa accepted a Guru Sāndīpani muni, to teach everyone that everyone requires spiritual master or a Guru, that time Vipra Sudama, was also a student of the same Guru, so this way they are like, school friends  he thought let me go and see Kṛṣṇa, this is the opportunity , wife let me never go and see Kṛṣṇa, let me go, now she is because thinking of getting something, now take the chance, so he went next door, beg some, he don’t have anything his house is empty, beg some chipped rice, chira and wrapped it up in his cloth and he went out to Dvārakā to see Kṛṣṇa.

 

So when he went see Kṛṣṇa and finally reached Dvārakā, it so many huge palaces, beautiful palaces and Gardens and wonderful arrangements there, fountains, he came to the main gate and the gate is open and the gate keeper said Kṛṣṇa is waiting for you go right in.

 

So he walked and goes to the various gates, and finally he goes right up to the inner quarters where Kṛṣṇa is there, as soon as Kṛṣṇa sees him,  he offers his respects, he welcomed his friend now you are Brahmin , you are a priestly person, I am just you see - kingly person , I have to worship the priest, you please sit down, he offered his own seat, His private throne, bathed his feet, has the His queen Rukmiṇī, the Goddess of fortune fanning him, this way they are talking after the formality of talking and tell me how are you , how is everything.

 

Vipra Sudama he couldn’t say that  Kṛṣṇa we are actually… we are really broke, (Devotee laughs) , he couldn’t , no everything is alright, actually I always thinking about you , I am so happy to be here, and he couldn’t bring himself to ask for a hand out, instead he was  just so happy to be with Kṛṣṇa and Kṛṣṇa was so kind to him so personal, even he was the whole thing was very insignificant person to consider himself but Kṛṣṇa treating him with so much respect and affection.

 

Then Kṛṣṇa saw that he has in his cloth this is like a system sometime in villages, they put all [not clear 48:07] cloth and they put the grain inside and they just tie it, so he is carrying like that over his shoulder, that grains, what have you got there, that is something for me? I think you bought this for me and let me try some.

 

NO NO actually I got for you but it is not really good.  NO, you got for me, then let me see I want to have some, NO NO, actually Kṛṣṇa is living in such opulence. What is this ordinary cereal I got it from next door neighbour?

 

How can I give this to Kṛṣṇa?  (Devotee laughs) No No, he opened it up …OOO I see that favourite cereals, (Devotee laughs) I love my cereals bought by my devotees, chira is a type of I Mean …. for the western cereals, so he took, O let me try again this is very good, NO NO doesn’t take it, it is not good enough, NO NO, what he meant…He went to take it third time Rukmini His queen put please don’t take anymore, Why What’s the matter? That whatever you taking charity, whatever your devotee offers it, I have to give him blessings, if someone gives you any donation, or any service then  I reciprocate and I bless them, so many times in return, but he didn’t give it from his own wealth he has no personal wealth he ran and begged them from next door neighbour ,and that means he gave beyond his own capacity, and he is giving it to you ,that means when he gave you that first donation, he took the first bite  I have to give him, all that as  much as opulence there is in the universe , I have to give so much, he took for the second time, that means I have to give equal with you, which even that’s not possible for me,  how I can give equal to you ? but you take the third time , he took from someone else that means I have to give at least equal to what he did. I have to give him more opulence than you have, if he is giving what you have, I can give more than you have, there is nothing more than you, so don’t take three times, please I will in big trouble how to give him blessings, for whatever service he is doing, then Kṛṣṇa , then Vipra sudama, I don’t think how much thing really he can pick up when he is going out, Rukmini was talking

 

But anyway Kṛṣṇa talking spent some time and he went, he took leave from Kṛṣṇa , they embraced each other, then he went back to go to his house, then he is going back don know why…..  would say why don’t you get from Kṛṣṇa?  (devotee laughs) how could I ask, Kṛṣṇa so wonderful, Kṛṣṇa is anyway this way so happy this could be Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa was so kind, he is actually, he is in love with Kṛṣṇa, as a friends, that is the perfection, if you love God, there is nothing higher than that. In every great religious leader whether Jesus, Mohammed, there is no higher perfection than loving God, just surrender and love to God.

 

This is the natural way, if you know about, you develop your friend of him. Well, what should be higher than that, so then Vipra Sudama, and he finally get back near to where his house his and then he looks around his house, he doesn’t see anymore, where is my hut? (Devotee laughs), someone is built a big building, over my hut, he see a big palace, some palaces, some kind of big multistorey building, what kind of, he approaches, then his wife, he see, some beautiful lady come with  some maid servant and everything, and is this his wife, O someone has come here  and given his all these things, this must be Kṛṣṇa,  how is that , thank you for having Kṛṣṇa to given all these things, I didn’t say anything to Kṛṣṇa, so then what to do ? If I reject it that won’t be polite, so instead he just used it as a big temple and used it all for Kṛṣṇa’s service.

 

And from there he trained people how to serve Kṛṣṇa and he glorified Kṛṣṇa. He never took it take it in that way because Kṛṣṇa gave it, now let me just use this is for myself. Kṛṣṇa gave it let me use it for Kṛṣṇa, of course he lived there, but he used it for Kṛṣṇa.

 

So like this Kṛṣṇa is very kind to his devotees, He knows in heart what they want. If someone wants something in serving Kṛṣṇa, even without asking you, he fulfilling their desire. And if someone  realizes that the best thing is to be just a devotee of Kṛṣṇa, or to, they want knowledge to, if they want to be a devotee, if they what material things , whatever they want, that becomes very easily fulfilled by practicing Kṛṣṇa Consciousness , whether one in the beginning doesn’t have so much understanding, about Kṛṣṇa but they just likes this 53.25 likes this spiritual process even if they practice the process, even without great understanding if they goes to the practice the lead a very natural life style, whether in a temple or in their own house , that will gradually will help you to bring the spiritual potential to the highest point and then gradually get the wisdom to understand what is this world ?

His Holiness Jayapatākā  Swami: The manor, recently , the group of people, devotees and counsellors from the English Manor, Bhaktivedanta Manor donated by George Harrison, which the local village Government wants to close off from being visited by the Indian, Hindus from London, because they say that so many come, fifty thousand come on the big festive day, so that they village get overwhelmed , they wanted to closed it off , but actually the traffic study shows that people are very orderly ,very well behaved , this is not that once in a year, this huge crowd doesn’t even pose a big problem with plenty of parking space everything , so but it became as more or less are like a racial thing.
