The following is a Initiation Ceremony Lecture given by His Holiness Jayapatākā Swami on JUN 01st 1997 in Bengaluru,India.

vande 'ham sri-guroh sri-yuta-pada-kamalam sri-gurun vaisnavams ca

  sri-rupam sagrajatam saha-gana-raghunathanvitam tam sa-jivam

sadvaitam savadhutam parijana-sahitam Kṛṣṇa-caitanya-devam

sri-radha-Kṛṣṇa-padan saha-gana-lalita-sri-visakhanvitams ca

nama oḿ viṣṇu-pādāya kṛṣṇa-preṣṭhāya bhū-tale
śrīmate bhaktivedānta-svāmin iti nāmine

namas te sārasvate deve gaura-vāṇī-pracāriṇe
nirviśeṣa-śūnyavādi-pāścātya-deśa-tāriṇe

namo mahā-vadānyāya

kṛṣṇa-prema-pradāya te
kṛṣṇāya kṛṣṇa-caitanya-

nāmne gaura-tviṣe namaḥ

he kṛṣṇa karuṇā-sindho dīna-bandho jagat-pate
gopeśa gopikā-kānta rādhā-kānta namo 'stu te

tapta-kāñcana-gaurāńgi rādhe vṛndāvaneśvari
vṛṣabhānu-sute devī praṇamāmi hari-priye

mūkaṁ karoti vācālaṁ
paṅguṁ laṅghayate girim
yat-kṛpā tam ahaṁ vande

Here we gathered for realizing initiation ceremony this is the first after the temple because it is very important here before Radha Kṛṣṇa chandra, Nitai gaura chandra, Kṛṣṇa balarama these devotees are surrendering to Lord Kṛṣṇa . Kṛṣṇa is adiguru , He is the original spiritual master, He is also chaitya guru , He is inner spiritual master and external spiritual master is his representative and extension. The Kṛṣṇa is always supreme guru. Because we can't hear Kṛṣṇa properly in our conditioned state therefore we accept his representative the form of devotee who is acting as guru on his behalf. And we serve Kṛṣṇa through Kṛṣṇa’s devotee. Actually Kṛṣṇa said he is more pleased when you serve his devotee when you serve him. So this way to get special mercy from lord Kṛṣṇa. All the services we do we think we are offering to our guru.In fact everyone who is under shelter,they should also be practicing in same way whatever service we are doing we offer to the guru. We don't think I am serving Kṛṣṇa I am serving my guru who is serving his guru who is serving Kṛṣṇa so the guru parampara in that way we serve Kṛṣṇa. By helping Kṛṣṇa s devotees, we are dasa nu Dasanu das. We taking initiation is also a serious commitment.  we are taking our spiritual master is our eternal father.  Our scripture as our mother.   Everything we do is connected with our Diksha guru . We go back to Kṛṣṇa and Kṛṣṇa also bless the Diksha guru . If we commit sin, Diksha guru suffers so everything we do you have to be very careful now. Specially that connection is more tight at the second initiation, more immediate reaction but even at that first initiation the guru is responsible. In this first initiation we are not only giving the Harinaam, but also the disciples are accepting the guru, the guruvarnam is done in ISKCON at the time of the first initiation.Thats why the new names are given by the guru and in some other institutions they only give the name in the second initiation. But in ISKCON we are giving the first, because guru is accepting disciple eternally and disciple is accepting guru and anybody is feeling hesitant to take this type of responsibility, this is your last chance to get out .If you want to think about it some more time. Diksha guru is one,we have many Siksha guru. But the Diksha guru is one. So once you take Diksha guru, that means no more Diksha guru rest of your life by Kṛṣṇa’s mercy.Anyway this is the disciplic succession you are linked.With this disciplic succession you are under the protection of Srila Prabhupād and all the former, previous acharyas .So everybody want to go forward raise your hands. Ok Hare Kṛṣṇa. This is a bond ,this is not a material. This is a spiritual heart to heart, soul to soul bond which the created.If we try to see materially then what similarities are there. So many different backgrounds maybe there, different age groups whatever language group , but this is the spiritual relationship which comes to service to Kṛṣṇa so one has to very careful and protect this relationship avoid the all kinds of offense. Sometimes people are not clear about their wows in initiation. What is the significance so no doubt what is the significance which drives any minute, you have it achha. Give to everyone a copy, sign it and give it to me. Actually taking the vows in front of fire and there is no higher commitment according to Vedas but somebody said in Kaliyuga if you sign something then they will take it more serious. ( laughing ) And Prabupaad said one time this is spiritual sign on this auspicious occasion, of course whenever we take vows for Kṛṣṇa we should never vow anything for any material purpose only for Kṛṣṇa. When we take a vow for Kṛṣṇa, then we are also begging Kṛṣṇa and getting the mercy from Kṛṣṇa to be able to fulfill this wow. This Vow doesnt mean that if I will break it then i give it up. Somehow if we fail in any respect ,there is no price chit. Only thing is you can try don't repeat the same again. The guru is very merciful and he forgives a disciple, but we try our level best to follow.Where is the list? So here we have a husband and wife should come together.Now Ramdas you come with your wife, next one will be Sunil and he can already pay his obeisance, because we are very late. All the pranams you do before come here, what are the four regulation principles you are going to follow for your whole life, Boliye? No meet eating, no gambling, no intoxication, no illicit sex, thank you, aap bhi boliye  how many malas everyday do you helping in my mission? So your name is Paratattva Prasad das Brahmacahri. The mercy of supreme truth. After this kamalakar, hare Kṛṣṇa. What are the principles you are following your whole life? How many rounds you do everyday minimum? and you will help me in my mission and follow all principles? So your name is Sravagna Krishna das brahmachari. Take the blessings from Prabhupāda. After this Rajesh what are the principles you follow your whole life?
