The mystic yoga system, as You have explained, aims at the Supreme Personality of Godhead and is meant for completely ending material existence. Please let me know the nature of that yoga system. How many ways are there by which one can understand in truth that sublime yoga?
Purport by His Divine Grace A.C Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada
There are different kinds of mystic yoga systems aiming for different phases of the Absolute Truth. The jñāna-yoga system aims at the impersonal Brahman effulgence, and the haṭha-yoga system aims at the localized personal aspect, the Paramātmā feature of the Absolute Truth, whereas bhakti-yoga, or devotional service, which is executed in nine different ways, headed by hearing and chanting, aims at complete realization of the Supreme Lord. There are different methods of self-realization. But here Devahūti especially refers to the bhakti-yoga system, which has already been primarily explained by the Lord. The different parts of the bhakti-yoga system are hearing, chanting, remembering, offering prayers, worshiping the Lord in the temple, accepting service to Him, carrying out His orders, making friendship with Him and ultimately surrendering everything for the service of the Lord. The word nirvāṇātman is very significant in this verse. Unless one accepts the process of devotional service, one cannot end the continuation of material existence. As far as jñānīs are concerned, they are interested in jñāna-yoga, but even if one elevates oneself, after a great performance of austerity, to the Brahman effulgence, there is a chance of falling down again to the material world. Therefore jñāna-yoga does not actually end material existence. Similarly, regarding the haṭha-yoga system, which aims at the localized aspect of the Lord, Paramātmā, it has been experienced that many yogīs, such as Viśvāmitra, fall down. But bhakti-yogīs, once approaching the Supreme Personality of Godhead, never come back to this material world, as it is confirmed in the Bhagavad-gītā. Yad gatvā na nivartante: upon going, one never comes back. Tyaktvā dehaṁ punar janma naiti: after giving up this body, he never comes back again to accept a material body. Nirvāṇa does not finish the existence of the soul. The soul is ever existing. Therefore nirvāṇa means to end one’s material existence, and to end material existence means to go back home, back to Godhead.
Sometimes it is asked how the living entity falls down from the spiritual world to the material world. Here is the answer. Unless one is elevated to the Vaikuṇṭha planets, directly in touch with the Supreme Personality of Godhead, he is prone to fall down, either from the impersonal Brahman realization or from an ecstatic trance of meditation. Another word in this verse, bhagavad-bāṇaḥ, is very significant. Bāṇaḥ means “arrow.” The bhakti-yoga system is just like an arrow aiming up to the Supreme Personality of Godhead. The bhakti-yoga system never urges one towards the impersonal Brahman effulgence or to the point of Paramātmā realization. This bāṇaḥ, or arrow, is so sharp and swift that it goes directly to the Supreme Personality of Godhead, penetrating the regions of impersonal Brahman and localized Paramātmā
Hari Om tat sat
Thus, ends the Bhaktivedanta Swami Translation purport for the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam third canto 25th chapter 29th text.
Repeat the translation.
The mystic yoga system, as You have explained, aims at the Supreme Personality of Godhead and is meant for completely ending material existence. Please let me know the nature of that yoga system. How many ways are there by which one can understand in truth that sublime yoga?
Hare Kṛṣṇa,
So Kapila muni was teaching his mother Devahuti on the science of yoga and he is revealing that glories of devotional service in this chapter how devotional service can take us directly to the Supreme Personality of Godhead.
Instead of going step by step so long in the tedious route, one can directly connect with the Supreme Personality of Godhead through bhakti yoga.
In Bhagavad Gita, it is mentioned, bahūnāṁ janmanām ante jñānavān māṁ prapadyate vāsudevaḥ sarvam iti sa mahātmā su-durlabhaḥ These jnana yogi of spiritual knowledge need to take many many births before they come to the understanding that Krishna is the supreme.
In the process of Kṛṣṇa consciousness where we are immediately knowing this point that Krishna is the Supreme Personality of Godhead and we are His eternal servants. jīvera ‘svarūpa’ haya — kṛṣṇera ‘nitya-dāsa’ even though the process of devotional service is to be the servants of the servants, gopī-bhartuḥ pada-kamalayor dāsa-dāsānudāsaḥ and that’s why this yoga system is considered to be the most sublime.
That’s why Krishna das Kaviraj Goswami in Caitanya Caritamrta mentions that Sri Kṛṣṇa Caitanya doya koriho vicar korlie chinte paibe chomotkar. Analyse what is the great mercy that Caitanya mahaprabhu is giving and if you analyse that then you will understand that He is giving such a wonderful mercy to become amaze.
By Caitanya Mahaprabhu’s mercy we can achieve through devotional service. But otherwise, quite difficult to understand.
Liberation normally takes many many births to achieve. But by the process of Kṛṣṇa consciousness, one can achieve liberation in this very life.
Recently at the GBC conference, someone posted a quotation, where Prabhupāda was saying, I am not saying whether I am liberated or I am not liberated.
I am following His Divine Grace Śrīla Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur who was a liberated soul. Just because I am following him, therefore I am also liberated. Every one of Śrīla Prabhupāda followers, every one of his disciples, they can also be liberated simply by strictly following Śrīla Prabhupāda.
Śrīla Prabhupāda ki Jai.
Sometimes there is so much question whether the Guru is liberated or not. If we are following Prabhupāda, then we take it as by following Prabhupāda we are liberated. And then we see that as soon as they don’t follow Prabhupāda , that means they are not liberated. [Laughter] In this material world, Prabhupāda explains that in the existence he explains that there is the nitya baddha and nitya mukta right. Eternally conditioned- nitya baddha and the nitya mukta who are the eternally liberated. In the spiritual world, you have the eternally liberated souls and then in this material world, we have the eternally conditioned souls. Occasionally, a nitya siddha or a nitya mukta comes down into this world to spread Kṛṣṇa consciousness.
On a very rare occasion. Apart from that, there are the nitya siddhas. Apart from that there is also those who are engaging their thoughts, words and deeds in Kṛṣṇa’s service. “iha yasya harer dasye. karmana manasa gira. nikhilasv apy avasthasu. jivan-muktah sa ucyate “ iha yasya harer dasye karmana manasa , karmana means activities, manasa means the mind, gira means the words. The Activities, mind and words are fully engaged in harer dasye,- service to Lord Kṛṣṇa. Then even when one is living, jivan muktah sa ucyate, you are liberated while living. Jivan Mukta. So Jivan mukta is different from nitya mukta. That means that you are liberated because you are engaging your thoughts, words and deeds in Kṛṣṇa’s service. Therefore you are protected by the mercy of Guru and Kṛṣṇa from the karmas, from the ordinary routine kind of effects of the material world and for all practical purposes you are liberated.
The difference is that the nitya siddha won’t fall down. Because he is already completely liberated. Normally they don’t. Whereas Nitya baddha is always fallen. Jivan Mukta- as long as he is continuously engaging his thought, word and deeds in Krishna’s service, then he is liberated. But if he thinks, I am initiated, I am a devotee, I am this person’s disciple. I can still be liberated even if I don’t engage my mind, my word and my deeds in Kṛṣṇa’s service, who is he?
We are cheating ourselves.
As soon as we stop engaging in Kṛṣṇa’s service, it’s very clear what happens Kṛṣṇa says, [ Not clear 16. 1 - 16. 10 ] As we turn away our face from Kṛṣṇa now we think I can get happiness simply by material sense gratification.
What is Kṛṣṇa’s service?
Kṛṣṇa bahir muka hoya- what is Kṛṣṇa’s service?
We are firmly convinced that there is absolutely no happiness, no real happiness in this world or in existence, outside of these 9 processes of devotional service mentioned here by Kapila Muni. Sravanam, kirtanam, smaranam, vandanam, pada sevanam, archanam, dasyam, sakyam, atma nivedanam. These 9 processes of devotional service and the spiritual bliss and ecstasies that come from serving Kṛṣṇa through them are the only means of getting eternal happiness. And whatever happiness we have in the material world, is simply an external illusion, that for sometimes we get happiness and the same thing causes us suffering.
Sitosna sukha dukkha da. For now it is very nice , it's warm weather here, everyone wants to sit under the fan. When it is winter, everyone wants the fan the other way, not sit under the fan.
Everybody is so happy when they get married and if the marriage breaks up, then they are so unhappy. So the things in the material life that gives us happiness, give us suffering.
It's a fact of life, therefore we don’t depend on material happiness for our satisfaction. We know that while we are in this world, there is going to be some happiness, there’s going to be some suffering.
We learn to tolerate that and we focus our maximum energy on cultivating brahma saukyam tvanantah. Just as Rishabh dev told his son. Even the stool eater [ Not clear 18. 31 - 18. 33 ] is like a dog and a hog, they are getting sense gratification and happiness from that. So, you my dear children you should try to get brahma saukyam, get transcendental bliss. Because it is tvanantam – it's unlimited. Material happiness has its limits.
Carvanas carvananam- chewing the chewed, how many times you can do the same thing. What is the new experience one is getting , chewing the chewed, getting a little juice, not much, for a few minutes and then hard struggle for existence. Therefore Rishabh dev told his children, go for brahma saukyam go for transcendental happiness, spiritual happiness because it is unlimited. But to get that, normally this is the great rishis, Kshatriyas, hardly vaishyas and shudras have the access. Few women could achieve previously. But Caitanya Mahaprabhu and Lord Kṛṣṇa, He opened this up for everybody.
Everybody can be His devotee. Not only the big kings and the brahmanas, vaisya, tata sudra ete papa yonayah
Everybody, even what to speak of the others, people who have been born in a sinful family, they can also take shelter of Him and achieve all the perfection. But then we find even then how many people are taking shelter of Kṛṣṇa. In this world, how many people have decided to take shelter, even also take shelter, Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu says anta muke mani, they give lip service but Karmanaha gani. They don’t actually implement what they supposed to.
How many really doing, how many actually, even just forget how many are lip service giving that I accept pure devotional service. This is my goal. Even if we accept that this is my goal, we would reach it eventually by Kṛṣṇa’s mercy. If we say I am too fallen, there is no hope for me. I can’t achieve pure devotional service. So why try?
Then, everything is a failure. At Least if we say that I have got no hope, I have got no qualification, I am not able to do things properly but I’m going to try hope upon hope try upon try to achieve pure devotional service in this life. At least the desire if we have, by Kṛṣṇa’s mercy, we can eventually achieve it by Guru’s mercy.
So, that was Lord Chaitanya’s special mercy that He has given us this blessing of Kṛṣṇa consciousness, made it available for everyone. Lord Advaita had made a special appeal to Lord Caitanya.
One day Lord Caitanya, He was walking and he saw the brother of Srivas, Ramdas, I believe is the brother of Srivas that you go and tell Advaita Gosai that Lord, for whom he had been fasting, whom he had been praying for, crying for, loudly shouting for, worshipping Tulasi, worshipping the Shaligram Shila with Tulasi and Ganges water, that Lord is here in Navadwip here. You go and tell him that.
Then, Ramdas went over to see Advaita Gosai and he went into his courtyard. You know Advaita Gosai lived like in Satya yuga, the houses on the four sides, in the satya yuga the houses are on four sides, the courtyard area is created in the middle, Treta yuga, it’s 3 sides, in Dwapara Yuga it is 2 and Kali yuga is a single house. Which yuga are we in? [ laughter ] [ Not Clear 23.54 - 23.56 ]
So, it was opulent.
One house for the kitchen, one house for the bedroom, another house for the living room. We don’t get the noise in the kitchen. They are cooking in clay pots, they don’t have to wash dishes. Right. Great job for the domestic, you know, you cook in claypots, you finish cooking, you throw it in disposable pots. You serve all in banana leaves after they finish, so no washing plates, no washing pots. How many housewives like that.
So anyways, Ramdas he came in to see Adwaita Gosai and Adwaita was seated in the courtyard with Shaligram shila’s doing puja. And when he saw Ramdas, immediately he jumped up. He started just like loudly talking to him. How do I know it’s true? Ramdas hadn’t said a single word. Hadn’t opened his mouth. How do I know it is true? Anybody could say it. What is the proof?
Whatever is just saying this, so many know that I prayed for this? Ramdas walking back and forth and looking at him and Ramdas was how is this happening? I haven’t said a single word. You know what Adwaita Gosai is a little bit eccentric. Then Adwaita suddenly sat down, looked at him, please come. [ laughter ] Then Ramdas offered his obeisances to him. I come here to deliver a message. That Lord for whom you have cried, that Lord for whom you worship Shaligram Shila with Tulsi and manjaris and Ganga water, that Lord for whom you have loudly prayed and shouted for, the Lord for whom you were fasting for, that Lord has come. He is here in Nawadwip. And hearing that
“ Haribol” “Haribol '' Adwaita Gosai jumped “ Haribol ``''Haribol” I have brought him. I have brought him. He has come . He has come. Haribol! Haribol! Haribol!I have brought Him from the spiritual world.
So happy, jumping in ecstasy. Then suddenly, again, he became serious. But then how do I know that this is real. What is the proof? You tell him, I am not going. I am not going. Too much for Ramdas who was a devotee, He is very intense, he was asked to deliver a message and it was much more than he expected.
You tell the Lord that I am not coming. I would go and hide in the village and if He is really my Lord if He is really the Lord of my heart , He knows everything that is going on, without me revealing myself, He would call me. I will go and pay my obeisances and If He is my Lord, He will put His Lotus feet on my head and He will reveal to me His transcendental glories, Sachidananda form. You tell him I am not going. He looked up and there was Sita Thakurani, his consort, carrying an arti tray. What's that for?
For the Lord. [ laughter ] Who said we are going?
She was right on the spot. She knew exactly what was needed. She was there. Perfect. So immediately they went together and hid in a village. So then, Sri Ramdas, he went and he paid his obeisances to Lord Chaitanya and he was about to tell Him that he is not coming. But before he could say anything, Lord Gauranga, He just called out. Nara Nara. Nara was the nickname for Adwaita. Nara, you come here, I know you are hiding there. You come here. You come right here now then Adwaita didn't come out
You come here. Lord Chaitanya was not in the mood of devotee now. He was in the mood of a boy [ Not Clear 29. 31 - 29. 42 ] This is very public, not so public.
Then Adwaita came and offered his obeisances. And then Immediately Lord Chaitanya came and put His Lotus feet on his head. When Adwaita looked up, then he could see unlimited Brahmajyoti coming from Lord Chaitanya, the effulgent transcendental form as the Supreme Personality of GodHead, in the form of a devotee. And Lord Chaitanya in his iswara bhav, He asked Adwaita, told Adwaita, that you have brought me here, you have called me down from the spiritual world, now what do you want?
You must tell me what you want. No. First of all when Adwaita saw Him, the Lord, he went jumping, Haribol, Haribol, Haribol. Haribol, Haribol.
I have brought Him from the spiritual world.
I have brought Him.
He has come. He has come. Haribol!!!!
Gauranga said no you have to answer, what did you bring me for? You have to tell me what I have to do. No No, you have come, that’s enough. No, no. I want to know what you want me to do. What is your request? And he kept insisting.
So then finally Adwaita he said, well, I request you, if I have to ask for a boon, normally, the big Kshatriyas, brahmanas, they are getting all the mercy in all your incarnations. I want that in this incarnation, those who normally cannot get your mercy, the humble, the unqualified, the fallen, let them get Your mercy.
Tathastu! Lord Gauranga said, So be it.
And a second request, those who think they are very advanced, who are very proud of their situation, let them not get Your mercy.
See how pride is so dangerous. And the Lord says tathastu. Wonder why Narottam Das Thakur is praying mosamapatita prabhu na paibe ara. Prabhupāda is saying in the purport, I am so crippled, I am waiting for one of my disciples to take me back to Godhead, my Guru Maharaja. Because that is the way that we are supposed to present ourselves and then we should feel also humble. Now these great acharyas are teaching us how we have to think. Here who thinks that who are highly qualified and who thinks I am very qualified, I am very qualified, I have done so much service, Therefore, I deserve the mercy of Lord Chaitanya. I have been a devotee for so many years, I don’t need to chant Hare Kṛṣṇa. I don’t need to come to the temple programs. I don’t need to do devotional service. I have already done my part, right? Isn't that pride? another form of pride? Or we are saying, I have read the Bhagavatam, whatever, there's nothing we can do. All we can say is we are simply dependent on the mercy of Guru and Gauranga.
This is so essential. We take simply the humble position. But it is so easy to fall into the feeling of I’ve done so much. I was trying to analyse, I was analysing this year, that because now, like end of the centennial, we are supposed to like reevaluate and see how to go forward. I am now in contact with the Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement now for 30 years, taken initiation 29 years ago. What have I done for Srila Prabhupada? What did I actually achieve? How good a disciple have I become?
Really frustrating that so little that I have done according to what I should be doing for myself as a personal realisation. So much more I have to do. I must have wasted so much time. Lot of time has slipped by and still I am not a qualified, really qualified disciple. I’m not able to do the things that Prabhupāda really wanted me to do. I don’t know if everybody else has done that evaluation. Then when I was evaluating and seeing how unfortunate I am and looked around and see how wonderful all of you are, now you are serving Śrīla Prabhupāda and staying in this Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement and I am actually so fortunate that I have association of so many vaishnavas. And that by associating with the vaishnavas, there is some hope for me and if I can serve the vaishnavas, another point I will revel, I’m making, that is senior disciples of Śrīla Prabhupāda. Prabhupāda has sent us so many devotees, younger God Brothers and God sisters. Now the second generation of disciples and then the children who are not yet initiated
[ Not Clear 36. 34 - 36. 39 ]
Prabhupāda has sent us so many wonderful devotees and how we have such a great responsibility to help them realize the great mercy that Prabhupādahas given us. Śrīla Prabhupāda has given us so much mercy. This year, when I was travelling with 50 devotees from 12 different Guru’s disciples, some who had no Guru, yet or they don't want a guru.
Then I came to also the understanding that how not everybody has the same realization about Prabhupāda that Prabhupāda’s disciple has. Not every Prabhupāda’s disciple even had the same realization.
Just like we see this quote here, your love for me will be shown by how much you cooperate to keep this institution together. Some people leave the institution.
We don’t try to keep the devotees in the institution and they easily go outside, even when they know that the instructions are not the same. whether inside or outside even when they know that the instructions are not exactly the same that Prabhupāda gave. Prabhupāda said even a slight difference, a slight, little difference can cause havoc in one’s spiritual life. I don’t know how much time. Already, like Gour Govind Maharaj, His Divine Grace, His Holiness Gour Govinda Maharaj, He was taken away by Kṛṣṇa. Told some disciples that he had prayed to take him back.[ Not Clear 38. 31 - 38. 43 ]
Whatever may be, Kṛṣṇa took him back. We don’t know how much longer we have to stay in this world.
Indradyumna maharaj was in a very serious car accident but somehow he survived. But other devotees had died in the car accident how many had died? And in the time, whatever unknown time that we have to be here with the devotees, Prabhupad’s disciples, how can we best imbibe in the other devotees’ mood?
This appreciation, this love for Śrīla Prabhupāda, so that they can carry it on to the next generation. How can we show the best example so that they would be inspired? And then we had so many failures.
We didn’t take care of the gurukul, the children properly many years ago. Now, we hope that things have improved a lot. Things have improved [ Not Clear 39. 52 - 39.59 ]
To Get whatever nectar, whatever realization, whatever vibration that Prabhupāda has given to many of them [Not Clear 40. 12 - 40. 20 ] By our own initiative by our own endeavour, by our own desire, we have to endeavour to serve Kṛṣṇa
nama-srestham manum api sachi-putram atra svarupam
rupam tasyagrajam uru-purim mathurim gostha-vatim
radha-kundam giri-varam aho radhika-madhavasam
prapto yasya prathita-krpaya sri-gurum tam nato ’smi
Radha Krsna, Radha Kund [ Not Clear 54. 53 - 54. 55 ] Raghunath Das, this was the prayer he gave to his initiating guru, spiritual master and this was the favourite prayer of Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakur. “prapto yasya prathita-krpaya sri-gurum tam nato ’smi”, offering all my efficiencies to my spiritual master for having given me all the previous things starting from the harinam, nama, krsnam, anumati - the gayatri mantra. Then nama sankirtan, then he goes through the whole list, he got Swarup Damodar, rupa, sanatana goswami, the older brother and then he got the associates of all the vaishnavas in Vrindavan, then he got the Govardhana hill. Then he got the Radha kunda. And it is at the end, the most important, aho Radhika Madhavasam, he got the desire to serve Radha and Madhava. The actual desire to serve Radha and Madhava, to serve Gaura, Nitai to serve Guru, Gauranga, that desire is the most important jewel. Most of you simply have the desire to love the skin together, and get some kind of sense gratification which is available in the animals. But to actually have the desire to taste the transcendental nectar, of the ocean of bliss, of serving Radha and Madhava, of serving Radha and Kṛṣṇa, Gaur Nitai.
That is the special gift that we can get from the spiritual master. Prabhupāda said that everyone should try to get it, if they have it, they should guard it, guard it like you know, more than fortman we should guard it like anything. Don’t let anyone, don’t let anything take away that jewel from you, not the television set, not the gossiping neighbours, not the envious people, not the sense gratification attractions of the material world, not anything, not your laziness, as priceless treasure it is.
How to give that treasure down to all the vaishnavas?
Kapila muni is giving the treasure to his mother. That’s his mercy. She was eager to hear. In the same way, we need to hand down this. Of course Kapila’s mother Devahuti, she wanted to hear. Devotees, they are eager to hear [ Not clear 43. 40 - 43. 46 ] We have got so much from Prabhupāda , whatever we have , we should give that.
Hare Rāma Hare Rāma Rāma Rāma Hare Hare
Hare Kṛṣṇa Hare Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa Hare Hare
Any questions, comments:
Hare Krishna [ Not Clear 44.28 - 44. 30 ]
Krishna gives liberation easily but not pure devotion
While Krsna very rarely awards pure devotion but Lord Chaitanya is giving it out freely.
The question was Kṛṣṇa gives liberation easily but not pure devotion. But Lord Chaitanya is giving us devotion. The thing is that we get it so easily sometime, we get such a good desire to chant, we get the taste, we don’t realize how important that is. We keep fanning that fire and let it grow and grow that will burn up all the material desire. That will flood our hearts. So what happens is that, I’m sure some of you here make sprouts. Anybody here know how to make sprouts?
First you have to soak the bean. Now, if you don’t take the beans out of water, what happens? Do they sprout? No. They rot. Finished.
Then they won’t sprout at all. But if you soak them nicely and then you take them out, then what happens? They sprout.
So in devotional service, the whole secret, we are getting devotional service, but you have to keep your heart always flooded. If you allow the heart to dry up, you will have to keep flooding, drain out something, then so many, it’s not then flooded long enough, then totally, it will bring out all the material desires. You will be surprised how many desires come up. They will sprout. [ laughter ] and grow and flourish. Then you will have to pull out all the weeds that you have allowed to grow. Therefore the secret is to keep the heart always flooded and the Pancha Tattva said, because they are flooded, the world in devotional service, therefore the seed of material desire has been larger than distinguished and finished. So that is the thing we have to do, we have to keep the irrigation levels high, why do you have this white paddy, they always keep water, because you can grow rice without that much water, actually. But the reason they keep the water is because when they make the rice paddy and put the rice and keep the water, no other weeds sprout. So the labour is much less. Very few other weeds sprout. So that makes it very easy to get a good rice crop. And if you just allow it to not flood, other grass, seeds and things to sprout and then it becomes hard to get a good rice crop. So it is like, we have to keep this, like the minimum amount of water, we have to keep. It's not that few other grasees always grow.
That’s why the regular, daily festival, we have in the morning programme and by getting some regular association from the devotees, chanting our rounds of japa every day, and then even the things, other things that we do, even the things that we have materialistic desires for, we dovetail that. OK, we have a desire for family. So we make a family for Kṛṣṇa. You know that I am having these desires, so let me do this for Kṛṣṇa. Let me have a family for Kṛṣṇa, then I can use this desire in Kṛṣṇa’s service. We want to eat, but we have to eat, we don’t eat, we will die. So, this is also sense gratification, gratifying our senses. So if we offer food to Kṛṣṇa and take prasadam, it becomes a devotional service. So we do the things that we have to do or that we want to do which are within the possibility of doing if it’s not going to be a big obstacle of our devotional service and then we do them in a Kṛṣṇa conscious way and Kṛṣṇa accepts that as devotional service. But we get purified gradually because we are always staying in touch with Kṛṣṇa. We are keeping our hearts flooded with enough water of bliss of devotional service that the small quantity of happiness that we get from this material sense gratification is so insignificant when compared to the ocean of bliss we are getting from Kṛṣṇa consciousness that we can easily be detached from it. But if once, we allow that water of spiritual bliss to drain out, then we are totally dependent upon this little bit of material happiness we get which is then bliss over the material suffering, gets into depression and so many other things then we are really in trouble.
So the thing is to take the shelter of Krishna consciousness we are getting that devotion very easily by Lord Caitanya’s mercy.
How valuable it is we should know from the verse we are quoting, actually we take it for granted. We take it as something cheaper. We don't realize how valuable it is until we lose it.
Some people they have to lose it to appreciate it. We don’t want that. We should understand this is really the mercy of Lord Chaitanya and guard it.
Thank you
Hare Kṛṣṇa
So I have asked that tomorrow after mangala aarti to do a Japa workshop for the next few days.
Those anybody who wants to participate will discuss on how to get forgiveness for the 10 offenses of the holy name and just some of the techniques about Japa and few tips and will review if anybody is having any specific problem with their japa or not. Not because, I had mine self checked by Radhanath Swami and few others [Not Clear 51. 15 - 15. 23 ]
But the point is that I committed so many offences to the holy name so much inattentive during chanting this is the service to the Vaishnavas so that I can help anyone else in their Japa and hoping I will get some blessings from Harinaam so that I can chant [Not Clear 51. 38 - 51. 41 ] Apart from that I was told that tonight at 7 will be a CC Class.
I will combine CC Class at the end. May be a short period the first half will be CC and then we will go for a little break and then how to apply all the instructions
You want me to tell that today at the CC Class or now.
Is there anybody else or we can end here.[Not Clear 52. 30 - 52. 38 ]
Do you want to hear it now?
Who wants to hear now the story of Kanai Natshala?
[Not Clear 52. 53 - 52. 56 ]
I was explaining how in ISKCON we got this temple of Kanai Natshala and how this was a very important place Lord Caitanya visited there a few times. I didn’t tell the pastimes that made it the most important place ,more important place. After Lord Caitanya went to Gaya, when Lord Caitanya came back from Gaya after being initiated, He would be chanting in ecstasy in Mayapur Navadwip Dham and He would be telling the devotees that “I got Kṛṣṇa, I got Krishna and I lost him, I achieved Kṛṣṇa but I lost him Where will I get Kṛṣṇa again.
Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa Where is Kṛṣṇa?” He is feeling so much separation.
When did he get Kṛṣṇa? Where did he get Kṛṣṇa?
How did that happen? That's a mystery.
So one day he told the devotees, he told Suklambra brahmachari that I will meet the devotees in your house in the morning. Because everyone will go to his house because he had a special tree that gave unlimited flowers.- This is why Gauranga looking for so many places [Not Clear 54. 22 - 54. 35 ]
He had some kalpa vriksha for flowers. So all devotees go there. So when Lord Caitanya came, as He was approaching them, there was a tamal tree. There He went there and hugged the tamal tree, Kṛṣṇa.. He was feeling so much separation. I have achieved Kṛṣṇa and I have lost him and fainted on the ground. The devotees couldn’t understand what’s going on and then everyone revived Lord Chaitanya and then He told them, let me tell you what happened to me.
I went to Gaya, I met my spiritual master and I got initiation. He gave me[Not Clear 55. 20 - 55. 25 ] I was coming back and chanting Harekrishna and I went to this place called Kanhaiya Natshala. In Kanai Natshala there is a lotus foot print of Radha and Kṛṣṇa. This is the place where Kṛṣṇa’s pastimes was displayed and presented [ Not Clear 55. 40 - 55.44 ] and he spent his time there
So Lord Chaitanya liked that place, it was a beautiful hill and next to the Ganges. The Ganges is now about 6 km wide, 4- 5 miles wide [Not Clear 55.56 - 55.58 ] Even before the Ganges was this wide and a little hillock overlooking the Ganges valley. On top of that there is Radha Kṛṣṇa lotus feet.
Lord Chaitanya was there and He said, I went to the Kanai Natshala and was worshipping Lord there and chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa and at the distance I saw a cowherd boy. Came closer. He was wearing a yellow garment playing on a flute. Came closer.
I saw, He had a peacock feather on his hair. Came closer and He was smiling and I saw it was Kṛṣṇa. He was my Lord, He had the Kaustubha mani on his chest. He had the Srivasta mark, a special whirl of hair that Kṛṣṇa has beautiful curled hair, He has got a white streak in it. He was wearing those shark-like earrings and Vyjayanthi mala, gently smiling, playing on the flute, His eyes mischievously, attractively glancing at Him.
All of Lord Chaitanya’s hairs are standing on end. He is completely in ecstasy, seeing Kṛṣṇa, seeing His Lord and Krishna came closer and closer and then Kṛṣṇa ran right up to Him and put His arms around Him and embraced Lord Caitanya.
Gauranga !!!
Bhagwan Shri Kṛṣṇa Ki !!!
Jai!!
Lord Chaitanya was just overwhelmed in transcendental ecstasy, He had achieved Kṛṣṇa. Kṛṣṇa was there hugging him. He was smelling Kṛṣṇa, He was feeling Kṛṣṇa. He was, He was, it was you know, inexplicable how much ecstasy. He was feeling at that moment, Like Radharani meeting with Kṛṣṇa. Then Kṛṣṇa left. Oh… He was smiling back and disappeared.
Lord Chaitanya went in separation of Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa Where are you ? Looking for Kṛṣṇa. When Kṛṣṇa was gone, He was rolling on the ground back and forth rolling on the ground feeling separation from Kṛṣṇa. So that place of Kanai Natshala is where Lord Chaitanya vipra lambha bhava, biraha, birohe, the separation mood first manifested there.
Somehow you see, there was a prediction there was, if you read in the original ancient old original 1930 version of Caitanya bhagavata it mentions how Kanai Natshala, even mentioned also in Caitanya caritamrta that was being worshipped by Ramanandi from Ramanuaja branch group and somehow they got worshipping facility.
You can take this worship as long as you can protect the Deity.
If ever you fail to protect the Deity you must give it over to the most prominent devotee of Lord Chaitanya mahaprabhu at that time.
You have to give it back to Lord Chaitanya. There are so many holy places Lord Chaitanya, all the sahajiyas, Nitai Gaur Radhe everybody we don't know, This one place was always under this other group.
And two years ago or 3 years ago, the Deities were stolen and the Acharya, you know he was like, for 200 years, that sampradaya was worshipping, the Deities were stolen. Now I have to deal with that to Lord Chaitanya’s movement. He was praying who should I give it to? We heard that Kṛṣṇa came and told him, Lord Chaitanya came and revealed Prabhupāda. You have to give it to Prabhupāda’s movement.
“Srila Prabhupāda Ki Jai”!
So one day I walked out of my room in the office at the long building in Mayapur. There is this sadhu there with a big tilak, Ramanuja kind of tilak sitting there. Prabhupāda said we should treat sadhus whenever they come to Mayapur. So what service can we give you prasadam. “ No No, I don’t eat” I just eat fruits. He was very austere looking, no shirt, no chaddar or anything. We can give you fruit. But I already ate my fruit, once a day. What service can we do? Who do you want to see and what brings to you here? He said, he showed me a slip of paper, Sai Ram, temple manager. Here is his office, why don’t you go in and wait. Don’t sit here.
Don’t sit here
He got up and go inside the office
I told Sai Ram some sadhu is coming to him
After an hour they called me and he said that, he is a mahant the Acharya guru whatever seva he took [ Not Clear 1.1.30 - 1.1.33 ]
On behalf of the deities he is the owner manager trustee for the kanai natshala temple
He came. Kṛṣṇa told me I have to give this to Iskcon, he just said. [ Not Clear 1.1.42 - 1.1.49 ]
We did not understand the significance. It is one of the .. but no. We went there this time, we were installing the Deities, all the pastimes we were reading then we realized what an important place it is. Then you know the devotees started feeling you know the profound nature. Then we installed the Deities, very beautiful deities
But after the installation these deities are just like more attractive, everybody’s heart was charmed by Radha and Kanhaiya lal deity. And then he went to the Bhakti Siddhanta saraswati Thakur, he has put lotus foot print of Lord Chaitanya there. It is such an important place.
Radha Kṛṣṇa’s foot prints are still there, the ones that Lord Chaitanya worshipped, his tears washed that his head touched, his hand touched and the devotees are allowed to go and put their heads on those lotus foot prints. They showed me. This is the place, originally footprints were here. Lord Chaitanya was rolling on the ground. Rolling on the ground to get some dust. I need all of us to get. And the worst thing is that for 2 days, we did this wonderful installation all the devotees were cooperating in the end everybody come and this time there was not a single thought of anything else but serving the Deity, no politics, no lethargy, no anxiety everybody was so focused we got so much bliss then somehow the person who made my tour without thinking you know what this will do to us what this will do to us, he scheduled us on the day that we finished deity installation, 8 o clock at night we have to leave and catch a 10 o'clock train.
We have achieved Kṛṣṇa and now we are losing Him. This is just too much. I am in trauma since then. I am just thinking when can I go back. This is really too much. Then you realise all these things beautiful deities after the Bangalore I refused to go any where for 3 days and then [ Not clear 1.4.3 - 1.4.5 ]
Anyway I wouldn’t tell them the pastime Lord Chaitanya revealed how he got Kṛṣṇa and how he lost Kṛṣṇa. This is where the separation mood of Lord Chaitanya's movement began. Yeah !
One that was stolen they were small deities small brass deity. we have installed marble Radha and Kṛṣṇa and Lord Chaitanya we have also added. The original, even if we get back, we will use them as Utsava murthi. They were quite small. I don’t know how long those two deities were there but [ Not Clear 4.43 - 4.58 ]
Any other questions?
Tomorrow morning
Why not?
How many here are going up to the new panihati cida dahi festival?
[Not clear 1.5.26 - 1.5.28] We need to take this opportunity and tell all the devotees to come.
We will be telling the pastime there also.
Hare Kṛṣṇa, Thank you very much
