The following is a lecture given by His Holiness Jayapatākā Swami Mahārāja on February 3, 1992 – in Coimbatore, India. The lecture begins with a reading from Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 1.2.28-29.

It. Translation by His Divine grace. In the revealed scriptures the ultimate object of knowledge is Śrī Kṛṣṇa, the personality of Godhead. The purpose of performing sacrifice is to please Him. Yoga is for realizing Him. All primitive activities are ultimately rewarded by Him. Only he is the supreme knowledge and all severe austerities are performed to know Him. Religion or Dharma is rendering loving service unto Him. He is the supreme goal of life. The report by Śrīla Prabhupāda the Śrī Kṛṣṇa, the personality of God it is the only object of worship, is confirmed in these two slokas. In the Vedic literature there is the same objective, establishing one’s relationship and ultimately reviving our lost loving service unto him. That is the sum and substance of the Vedas. In the Bhagavad Gītā the same theory is confirmed by the Lord in His own words.

The ultimate purpose of the Vedas is to know him only. All the revealed scriptures are prepared by the Lord through His incarnation in the body of Rla Vyāsa Deva. Just a reminder conditioned by material nature of Śrī Kṛṣṇa, the personality of Godhead. No demigod can award freedom from material bondage. That is the verdict of all the Vedic literatures. Impersonalists who have no information of all the Vedic of the personality of Godhead minimize the omnipotency of the Supreme Lord and put him on equal footing with other living beings. And for this act such impersonalists get freedom from material bondage only with great difficulty. They can surrender unto him only after many births in the culture of transcendental knowledge. One may argue that the Vedic activities are based on sacrificial ceremonies.

That is true, but all these such sacrifices are also meant for realizing the truth about Vasudeva. Another name of Vasudeva is Yajna or sacrifice. And in the Bhagavad Gītā it is clearly stated that all sacrifices and all activities are to be conducted for the satisfaction of Yajna or Vishnu, the personality of Godhead. This is also the case with the yoga systems. Yoga means to get in touch with the Supreme Lord. The process, however, includes several bodily features such asana, Dhyana, Pranayama and meditation, and all of them are meant for concentrating upon the localized aspect of Vasudeva represented as Param ātmā. Param ātmā realization is but partial realization of Vaasudeva. And if one is successful in that attempt, one realizes Vasudeva in full. But by ill luck, most yogis are stranded by the powers of mysticism achieved through the bodily process.

Process ill fated Yogis are given a chance in the next birth by being placed in the families of good learned Brahmanas or the families of rich merchants in order to execute the unfinished task of Vasudeva realization. If such fortunate Brahawanas and sons of rich men properly utilize the chants, they can easily realize Vasudeva by good association with saintly persons. Unfortunately, such preferred persons are captivated again by material wealth and honor and thus they practically forget the aim of life. This is also for. So this very long report. Here, Prabhupāda has so far explained the three lines Vasudeva para Veda, Vasudeva Paramakha, Vasudeva para Yoga. Just as in Bhagavad Gītā Kṛṣṇa says Vidaishta Sai Bhair Hameva trying to be known by all the Vedas. So here also Vasudeva para Veda, Vasudeva Kṛṣṇa is the goal of all the Veda.

This is also being stated that Vasudeva param Maka he is the purpose of all the sacrifices. He is the enjoyer. He is the goal of all sacrifice. Yajna Vai Vishnu. These are all the lessons given also in Bhagavad Gītā. Then finally Yoga in the Bhagavat. It explains very clearly how the Yoga system is meant for realizing Kṛṣṇa in his Parvatma form. So all these verses are showing how Kṛṣṇa is the goal. He is the goal of knowledge. He is the goal of sacrifice. He is the goal of Yoga. Is also the goal of Karma. He’s the one who is giving the results of all of our activities. So this way Kṛṣṇa is the goal for everyone. Unfortunately people, they sometimes ask why are you worshipping Kṛṣṇa? Why you are trying to serve Kṛṣṇa? Because they don’t know what the Bhāgavatam says.

They don’t know what the Vedas are saying. There are so many data that sometimes they get confused. And there are so many different groups and preachers and other groups. They don’t want to present the Bhagavad Gītā. As it is, we heard how one Vyavadi preacher when he was giving lecture on 12th canto of Bhagavad Gītā. Excuse me, 12th chapter of Bhagavad Gītā where Kṛṣṇa clearly says that Bhakti Yoga is the preferred process. It’s the best of all the Yogas. Then he said here Kṛṣṇa must be lying to please his Bhaktas. Everything Kṛṣṇa is saying O Gītā, where did Shankaracharya say anything was alive? But the Shankaracharya followers, they’re saying, must be lying. How can Bhakti better than Kana? And he wiped off the whole thing. Similarly, at the end of his career, Shankaracharya told his followers, You stop your arguing.

You stop your useless mental speculation. You just worship Govinda, you fools. So they said, well, in the old age he became senile. So the Māyāvādī actually in the 18th chapter, Bhagavad Gītā, Kṛṣṇa says, you should tell this to my devotees, but don’t tell it. The secret of Bhagavad Gītā to those who are envious of me, to those who are not austere, and so on, who are non devotees. So that’s why the non devotees, the impersonalists, they cannot understand these verses. They always misinterpret. So this is very convincing to the ordinary people. You can fool ordinary people what is Dharma? But you can’t fool somebody who’s actually in the line. They know exactly what’s up. Someone who’s in Bhakti Yoga, they know what is the actual situation of Bhakti Yoga.

Someone who is an ordinary person, he doesn’t know anything about this yoga or that yoga. He can get fooled. There’s a story how once there was one businessman. And he was the kind of very miserly businessman who wants to make a profit from everybody. If he can make a profit from his mother, he will also do that. He doesn’t spare anyone. So this businessman, somehow another he got some coconuts. So with his coconuts, he thought, let me do some trading. So. He wanted to break the coconut to eat it. But he didn’t have a proper knife. His knife was broken. So he went to one blacksmith and he requested to fix this. He said, your knife is finished. You need a new knife. You won’t be able to use it. So then the businessman lied.

He said, actually, I am dealing in spot in a carbon steel. And as a carbon steel dealer, I can give you very good piece of carbon steel, one whole bar. You can make so many knives from that. You will just give me one knife and you keep the rest. So that blacksmith, he thought, okay, bring this deal, I will make you a knife, you give me the other. I can make four or five knives. Okay, good deal. But then the businessman, he went back to his house. He had all carbon steel. He thought out, this blacksmith is uneducated guy. He’s a fool Algerian. He sent one bar of mild steel. What we are using in a construction that gates this ordinary mild steel, one putty of mild steel. So he sends that to the guy, to his son, to the blacksmith. He said, what’s this?

He tells me he’s going to give me spring steel. High quality steel. It’s ordinary soft steel. Blacksmith is working every day in steel. He knows this. His only job is feeding the steel. He knows what’s good and what’s bad. So what this guy is doing. So he made him a knife from that steel. Really bad knife. It won’t keep any of the edge sharpness. She sends it with the sun. The guy sees that won’t even break the coconut. The edge is so weak. He comes real angry. What kind of knife you gave me? You didn’t give me a good knife. Then the blacksmith said, I gave you the exact right knife for you. Anyone who tries to cheat a blacksmith by giving imitation carbon steel, he deserved this kind of knife only. Who do you think I am? Who do you think you are?

You’re trying to cheat a blacksmith with steel. He may think uneducated anything. A blacksmith, that’s all he’s doing is working with steel. He knows more about steel than anybody. So you can’t cheat a blacksmith with steel. You may cheat with some other guy, fruit walla or anything, but not with blacksmith, not a kamar. So similarly, Bhakti tattva dharma tattva, those who are actually in the line, they don’t get fooled by these things. It’s the neophytes. They get bewildered. That’s why Caitanya Mahāprabhu advised, don’t listen to non devotees lectures. Because simply it gives disturbance to the mind. And the oppites won’t be able to pick out what is the difference very easily. They will get bewildered. But someone who’s actually experienced the Bhakti Yoga, they know these things are not proper.

That’s why Prabhupāda wrote Bhagavad Gītā as it is, nowhere does he call Kṛṣṇa as a liar. If anybody hears a lecture say Kṛṣṇa is lying, they should take their shoe off and hit it on that person’s head. What do you say? Kṛṣṇa is a liar. And they call themselves Hindus. All the Acharyas are accepting every word coming from Kṛṣṇa’s mouth. It’s the absolute truth. There’s not a single lie in the Bhagavad Gītā. Anyone who says it, he’s a Pasandi, he’s an atheist, he’s a demon. These are Rakshasa and Sanyasi clothes. If he dares to say Kṛṣṇa is a liar. But these things are going on in the name of Hinduism. But here it’s clearly explained Vaasudeva para veda Vaasudeva Paragyanam Prabhupāda goes on to explain that this is also so for the culture of knowledge.

According to Bhagavad Gītā, there are 18 items in culturing knowledge. By such culture of knowledge one becomes gradually prideless, devoid of vanity, non violent, forbearing, simple, devoted to the great spiritual master and self control. By culture of knowledge one becomes unattached to heart and home and becomes conscious of the miseries due to death, birth, old age and disease. And all culture of knowledge culminates in devotional service to the supreme personality of Godhead Vaasudeva Kṛṣṇa. Therefore, Vaasudeva is the ultimate aim in culturing all different branches of knowledge. Culture of knowledge leading one to the transcendental plane of meeting. Vasudeva is real knowledge. Physical knowledge in its various branches is condemned in the Bhagavad Gītā as organa or the opposite of real knowledge.

The ultimate aim, physical knowledge is to satisfy the senses, which means prolongation of the term of material existence and thereby continuance of the threefold miseries. So prolonging the miserable life of material existence is nescience. But the same physical knowledge leading to the way of spiritual understanding helps one to end the miseries of life in the physical existence and to begin the life of spiritual existence on the plane of Vasudeva. So Vasudeva, all knowledge is meant to bring us to meet Kṛṣṇa, to meet Vasudeva. So many education institutions are there studying physics, chemistry, science and so on. But if all that knowledge is simply meant to teach how to enjoy sense gratification, then Kṛṣṇa says in Bhagavad Gītā or Jñāna or Vidya, real Vidya, real Gyana must lead one to the spiritual platform to know Kṛṣṇa. Know what is the reality.

We may know so many details, so children are forced to memorize so many facts and figures. But if you ask them what is the goal of life? Nobody knows. Neither the teacher, neither the student. So what kind of knowledge they’re getting. Knowledge should bring one up to the conclusion, otherwise it’s incomplete. Incomplete knowledge is dangerous because it will lead you to some other. Just like say someone gives you a map, you say how to get to such and such place. So someone says you go this way, someone says you go that way. So if they’re leading you in the wrong direction, what is the good of that knowledge? I want to get to Madras. Someone shows you the road to baby. This is a very good road. It’s going to a good city. But you go to the wrong city.

You want to go Madras, you go to baby. I want to know how I can be happy, how I can be peaceful in life. When someone gives you the wrong road, you go this way. Then what is the use? A misdirection. So if knowledge doesn’t lead one to the ultimate goal of knowledge, it’s incomplete. It’s as good as I ignorance in another form. So much energy is put into gathering the knowledge and what is the result? You don’t reach the goal of life. So what is the use? It’s Avidya Organa. The same of Prabhupāda continues. The same applies to all kinds of austerities. Tapasya means voluntarily acceptance of bodily pains to achieve some higher end of life. Ravana and Hiranya Kasipu underwent a severe type of bodily torture to achieve the end of sense gratification.

Sometimes modern politicians also undergo severe types of austerities to achieve some political end. This is not actually Tapasya. One should accept voluntarily bodily inconvenience for the sake of knowing Vaasudeva because that is the way of real austerities. Otherwise all forms of austerities are classified as modes of passion and ignorance. Passion and ignorance cannot end the miseries of life. Only the mode of goodness can mitigate the threefold miseries of life. Vasudeva and Devakī, the so called father and mother of Lord Kṛṣṇa underwent penances to get Vasudeva as their son. Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa is the father of all living beings. Bhagavad Gītā, chapter 14, verse 4. Therefore he is the original living being of all other living beings. He is the original eternal enjoyer amongst all other enjoyers. Therefore no one can be his begetting father as the ignorant may think.

Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa agreed to become the son of Vasudeva and Devakī upon being pleased with their severe austerities. Therefore, if austerities have to be done, they must be done to achieve the end of knowledge. Vasudeva. So this is an explanation that Prabhupāda gave Vaasudeva for all Tapa. He is the objective of all real austerities. He is the goal of austerities. People are going to so many austerities studying in university to get their bachelor’s, master’s and PhD. People are doing so many political austerities to get elected. But they are not really austerities. These are all materialistic endeavors. Austerity, or tapa is meant to voluntarily accept some inconvenience in order to achieve Kṛṣṇa. That is the real goal of austerity. Actually, Lord Chaitanya Mahāprabhu has made the process so nice that actually the devotees don’t have to do any severe austerity.

Still, whatever the regulator principles are no meat eating, no intoxication, no gambling, and no illicit sex. This much austerity they have to do for the purpose of pleasing Kṛṣṇa. So austerities in Kṛṣṇa consciousness are not very severe. But because in Kali Yuga people, they are not at all inclined to do any austerity for spiritual reasons. They will endeavor, they will climb a mountain in order to get a Guinness World Book of Record. They are named, they will do all kind of things. People will go on dancing for two, three days in a row trying to get their name in the World Book of Record. They will do all kinds of funny things, risking their life that they get a little name in a book, that you are the first person to hold your breath for so long or something.

So for this, any little name and fame, for any sense gratification, they can do something. Somebody got the world record for some funny thing. And he said, why did he do that? What did you prove? He said, I didn’t prove anything, but I did it. So this is what is it. They said of no use, it’s a waste of time. But austerity is tapa. They will do so many crazy things just for some temporary results. But a very simple thing to regulate your life to avoid the things which are anyway bad for you to reach Kṛṣṇa. Everyone knows smoking is harmful for the health. So don’t smoke, don’t take drugs, don’t take alcohol. Now science has proven that meat eating is very conducive for many diseases, cancer and so on. So many people in the western world are becoming vegetarians simply for health reasons.

So all our regulated principles are already accepted by intelligent people as the standard of healthy, sane living. No illicit sex. Now AIDS is going all over the world because people are having illicit sex, because people are using drugs and needles. So we are saying, don’t take drugs, don’t have illicit sex. So all these things are accepted by any intelligent person that yes, this is. This is a standard of civilized life. But for the materialistic people, they say, oh, very great austerity. How can we give up onions and garlic? How can we give up fish and meat? This is the difficulty. So even if one does these very simple regulated principles and chant Hare Kṛṣṇa accepts that as a for him there is a reason to do osterapy. When somebody is having heart condition doctor says okay, don’t take any more meat, don’t smoke.

Then they stop. The devotees are saying this right from the beginning. Avoid these things and be Kṛṣṇa consciousness. Same conclusion here. Proverb says. The Nabhagavad Gītā. They said that those who are Mahatmas or those whose minds have been so broadened as to be engaged in the service of Lord Kṛṣṇa are under the influence of the internal potency and the effect is that such broad minded living beings are constantly engaged in the service of the Lord without deviation. That should be the aim of life and that is the verdict of all the Vedic literatures. No one should bother himself with fruitive activities or dry speculation about transcendental knowledge. Everyone should at once engage himself in the transcendental loving service of the Lord. Nor should one worship different devas who work as different hands of the Lord for creation, maintenance or destruction of the material world.

There are innumerable powerful demigods or devas who look over the external management of the material world. They are all different assisting hands of Lord Vasudeva. Even Lord Shiva and Lord Brahma are included in the list of devas or demigods. But Lord Vishnu or Vasudeva is always transcendentally situated. Even though he accepts the quality of goodness of the material world, he is still transcendental to all the material modes. The following example will clear the matter more explicitly. In the prison house there are prisoners and the managers of the prison house. Both the managers and the prisoners are bound by the laws of the King. But even though the King sometimes comes in the prison, he is not bound by the laws of the prison house.

The King is therefore always transcendental to the laws of the prison house as the Lord is always transcendental to the laws of the material world. Sometimes people misunderstand that Kṛṣṇa in the spiritual world and Kṛṣṇa who comes in the material world there are two different levels. Kṛṣṇa is just like when the king goes to the prison house, he is not under the laws of the prison house. When Kṛṣṇa comes to this material world, he is not bound by the laws of the material world. He is always in a transcendental position. This is confirmed very clearly by Kṛṣṇa and Bhagavad Gītā. If Kṛṣṇa was not in a transcendental position when he was in this world, then the Bhagavad Gītā it.

(Side B of the Cassette)

It. The reason the Bhagavad Gītā is read by all great Acharyas and all great Vedic authorities is because Kṛṣṇa is transcendental. He is in a transcendental position. So this is our situation. Bhagavad Gītā is so valuable because Kṛṣṇa is not under the three modes of nature. He is always in the transcendental position. So therefore the conclusion is Vasudeva Pragavati. We should be firmly fixed. Vish. Kṛṣṇa is the goal of our life to serve Kṛṣṇa in devotional service. That should be the goal of life. We shouldn’t have any doubt about that. Anybody may say anything but we can clearly see from the Shastra, from the Guru, from the authorities that Kṛṣṇa is the goal of life. Serving Kṛṣṇa is the goal of life. We shouldn’t be distracted.

How to Here in South India when so many people have been already misdirected and have so many different ideas how can we preach Kṛṣṇa consciousness and tell everyone that Kṛṣṇa is the goal of life? Actually, it’s an impossible task. But just like there was a small bird. He was laying his egg by the side of the ocean and the ocean took away his eggs. So the bird told the ocean, give back my eggs, otherwise I am going to empty you out. And he was taking little water, little mouthful by mouthful from the ocean and going on and on doing that and the ocean was laughing. What do I have to fear of this little bird? How he’s going to empty me out. Then Garuḍa saw how the bird is so determined and it’s doing so.

Then Yaruda took compassion and he came and told the ocean, give back the eggs. Otherwise I am going to also enter into this. Then the ocean became frightened that if Guruda the carrier of Vishnu wants to empty me out I am finished. Immediately the eggs came back on the shore. All right. Here, take it. So we don’t have the power and our own but by the mercy of Kṛṣṇa, everything is possible. The Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu wants that this Kṛṣṇa consciousness be spread in every town and village. That means that it’s going to happen if you study the art. In the Kurukshetra battle, if there were bookies who were taking the bets, who will win? I surely give the arts. Those who don’t have any faith in Kṛṣṇa, they just see the material situation.

Bhishma and Dronacharya and Karna Duryodhan, all the bigger army, everything was with them. They will give a big advantage to the Duryodon side. That’s how Duryuddon calculated. I am going to smash these guys. Who do they have? Nobody. But simply because Kṛṣṇa is on their side. Because they are on the side of Dharma. Even the whole world was amassed against them. They didn’t stand a chance. So this is the faith with which we have to push forward the Kṛṣṇa Consciousness movement. That by Kṛṣṇa’s mercy, by Lord Chaitanya’s causeless mercy. It’s their desire. They want to see this devotional service given to the conditioned souls. So therefore things will be successful. This Rath Yantra festival seemed to be almost something impossible to do considering the manpower and other restrictions here of the devotees in Coimbatore.

But because the devotees somehow or another kept faith in the words of Guru and Kṛṣṇa by the mercy of the Lord, things gradually came together. Many devotees have been brought into the society. Now we are taking some serious commitment. Life members and committee members and so on. But otherwise were dormant. So this is the secret of devotional service. We have to go on doing our duty and depending on Kṛṣṇa, keeping Kṛṣṇa as the goal in our life. In this way we can ultimately achieve the perfection of life. In this way we can be completely satisfied. Hare Kṛṣṇa Hare Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa Hare Hare Ram Hari Ram Ram Hari Haram. Any questions? The Mayavadis tend to be offenders of Kṛṣṇa. They believe that there is a transcendental reality. But they don’t consider the personality of Godhead to be transcendental. That is their problem.

So they are basically offensive of Kṛṣṇa. They believe that there is a transcendental reality. They say that our personal reality is the impersonal Jyoti Brahma Jyoti. They think that Kṛṣṇa is coming from the Brahma Jyoti. This is their defect. Kṛṣṇa also, he said, those who think I have come in a material form. They are foolish like the asses, like the Mulhas. Ava jannati Vam Mulha. They think that I take in a humane form. These people are foolish like the ass, like the donkeys. This is not what we are saying. This is what Kṛṣṇa is saying. So you can say they’re fools. This is Kṛṣṇa’s opinion. But they’re very learning. They have so many oratory abilities. They may speak much better than you or I. They have fine tuned their ability to speak with a very nice accent.

What their conclusion is completely against Kṛṣṇa’s point. So what makes the difference between an intelligent person and a fool is what is the conclusion? Say that somebody gives a big 30. But theory is wrong. Even he’s Speaking it very nicely. What is the use? So in business world, there’s a reality that people see someone has a big 30. There was America, there was a car made. Someone invested millions of dollars and made an Edsel car. But it was a flop. Nobody liked it. So the person lost his money. So in business, if somebody has a theory then they wait to see what’s the result. If the result doesn’t work, they think the guy made a mistake, he was a fool. But in philosophy, because people, they don’t know what is the ultimate result. That’s supposed to be there.

So you can get away with saying anything. And nobody knows whether he’s a fool or not. This is the problem. Unless one comes to the point of realizing the truth. Then he can see the others of who is going in the wrong direction. If I know what is the goal. If we clearly know what is the goal. Then as everybody is saying, some other direction. We know he’s a fool. Say that we have gone from here to Madras. We know the road. And we see that somebody is telling the people, you go this way. He’s pointing to Trichy and say, go there to Madras. You go there on the right direction. Say this way to Madras. So you know that it’s not the way to Madras. He’s a fool. And those who are following him are also fools.

But if you don’t know the way, then you see here at the mercy. So that’s why Lord Chaitanya said we should study the words of Kṛṣṇa and Gītā and Bhagavad as the truth. And if we know this knowledge then somebody tells us something different than what Kṛṣṇa is saying. So we know that he’s a fool or a cheater. Either they’re fools or they’re cheaters. What are the truth? Either they know that it’s wrong. Say that sometimes you ask somebody india, how do I get to such and such place? The man, he doesn’t know how to get there. But he’s such a nice man. He wants to say something pleasing to you. He wants to help you. So he doesn’t want to say no to you and make you feel. You know, some kind of emotional distress.

So instead he decides to just say something nice. You go this way. But he has no idea what you’re looking for, where you’re. How to get there. He feels very nice. He goes this way. The next person you say he feels the same way. You go that way. So Prabhupāda told her, you have to ask five people if they all say the same direction. Then you know that maybe it’s the right way. Because people are very polite here. So maybe that the person is very polite. He’s just saying things that heard from others he doesn’t know. Then he’s a fool. He’s giving you the wrong direction and you’re a fool for following him.

But if he knows that this is the way to Bombay and he’s telling you go the other way to Madurai, you want to go to Bombay or Madras, he’s telling you to go the other way. That means a cheater. He’s misdirecting you purposely. So that is difficult for us to say who is a cheater, who is a fool. But we know that what is the direction the Vedas want us to go. And we are trying to show people this is what Kṛṣṇa is saying. This is what Bhāgavata is saying. This is what the Vedas are saying. Let them decide for themselves. Sanātana Dharma, Hindu Dharma, whatever you want to call it, is based on the Vedas. If we don’t accept the Vedas, then we have no basis at all. There are no other basis for the Vedic culture other than the Vedas.

And the Vedas are directing us. Vaasudeva pura veda param gatim Kṛṣṇa is the goal. So if someone is a fool, but we are well meaning, we respect him, what can we do? But we don’t follow them. Why we listen to a fool. But if they are a cheater or they are a fool, whatever it may be, we tell other people, don’t follow fools, don’t follow cheaters. The problem is that everybody, they want you. Nowadays the Buddha is at for unity, saying you never criticize anybody else. Say everybody is good, But it’s not very practical. If something is bad, you have to say it’s bad. If something is good, you say it’s good. Pro body follow that. If the Pope says that you shouldn’t have abortion and that’s what the Vedas say, he says very good. He’s saying the right thing.

Not because he’s Christian, we have to say he’s bad. You’re not sectarian after the truth. Anybody says the truth, whether they are another religion or another, whoever it may be will accept. Yes. What do you say? We agree this is the truth. This is what Vedas say. And whoever the person may be, even he’s a big Acharya. If he says something which is against Kṛṣṇa, we will say we don’t accept because Kṛṣṇa said something Different. Shukracharya was very big acharya. But when he told bali maharaj, don’t worship kṛṣṇa. Don’t surrender to vamunadeva. Don’t give him the three steps of life. The bali didn’t accept his own guru. Didn’t accept the acharya. Because he was saying what you’re telling me now. Whole life you’re telling me worship vishnu. Now vishnu has come. He said don’t worship him. Don’t give him what he wants.

So I can’t accept. There’s a contradiction. If there’s a contradiction, we can accept. How can we accept. Any other questions. Not to be their salvation? How can they get very quick? We can preach to them. But we shouldn’t hear what they preach to us. The problem is that they don’t listen. If they come and ask us questions, we will preach to them. Why not? Last night somebody came and asked me so many questions. We preached to him. If they are willing to listen, we can preach to anyone. We are not biased. But the problem is sometimes our friends and neophyte devotees they go and listen to them and they get bewildered. They say why they are saying like this. So the only reason lord chaitanya is saying don’t listen to such people because they will say things which will hurt you. If you know.

Just like sati, shivaji told him, told her. Mahadeva told her, don’t go to your father. To your father. Because he’s going to say something offensive against me. It will hurt you. But sati didn’t listen to shiva. Didn’t listen to her own party. And when she went to see daksha she saw daksha had made all the arrangements but left out shiva. And daksha was mistreating and also misspeaking against shiva. So then sati said that I have taken birth from your body. I feel paradise contaminated if someone like you. Everyone respects shiva. Everyone respects mahadeva. Everyone is taking his dust on the head only. You find only defects in him. That means that everyone is wrong only. You’re right. You are wrong. So I don’t want to be your daughter anymore. And have a body produced from you.

Who was a great offender to such a great devotee. Such a great person. So then she went in meditation. She burned herself up. Mahadev, nu. You go to see daksha. You’re going to feel pain in your eyes. If you go and listen to māyāvādī. Once you’re a devotee, if you hear the answer, it will hurt you. They will say such things Against Kṛṣṇa in so many eloquent ways, you will feel very bad. And if you don’t feel bad, you will be destroyed. You will be very polluted. For that reason, we don’t go to listen. If we know. Once we know that who is an authorized lying to, we don’t go to listen. We can preach to them. We don’t listen to them. Why will you listen? If you know someone’s a fool or a cheater, why you listen?

If they are misdirected, the doctor doesn’t go to the patient and say what I should do to cure you. They are also patients. We go to give medicine. That’s all right. We don’t take their medicine. Is that okay? What will they achieve? Where will they go? Where will they go? Where any other karmas? Where everybody goes? We are what you see. There are three kinds of devotees. There is a Neom. There is Kanishta, Matyam and Uttam. To preach to people who are envious of Kṛṣṇa. Unless one has a Uttamadhikadi, you will never change their attitude. You won’t have the potency. And if you are Kanishta Adhikari and you try to preach to offender of Kṛṣṇa instead, they may turn your brain around. If you are Bhatya Manakari, you may meet them. But it will be a standoff. Neither you will convince them. Neither they will convince you.
