Jayapatākā Swami: He saw in a lime tree that kadmabas were blooming, blossoming as extremely beautiful kadamba flowers.

Purport (By His Divine Grace Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura Śrīla Prabhupāda): The word jambīra refers to a lime or citron tree.

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa 5.283

ki apūrva varṇa se vā ki apūrva gandha
se puṣpa dekhile kṣaya yāya sarva-bandha

Jayapatākā Swami: How this wonderful color wonderful aroma or the fragrance of the Kadamba flowers! Just by seeing these flowers one’s material bondage was destroyed.

So, in a lime tree normally kadamba flowers would not appear. Since Lord Nityānanda wanted kadamba flowers, they appeared on the lime tree. This has a wonderful color wonderful fragrance and just by seeing this one would be transported to the spiritual world.

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa 5.284

dekhiyā kadamba-puṣpa rāghava-paṇḍita
bāhya dūra gela, hailā mahā-haraṣita

Jayapatākā Swami: When Rāghava Paṇḍita saw those kadamba flowers, he lost external mundane consciousness and was filled with great transcendental jubilation.

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa 5.285

rāghavera kadambera phule mālā-racanā o nityānanda-gale pradāna—

āpanā samvari’ mālā gāṅthiyā satvare
ānilena nityānanda-prabhura gocare

Jayapatākā Swami: He checked his flowing emotions and quickly and immediately prepared a garland of kadamba flowers, and then he brought the flowers to Nityānanda Prabhu which he brought before Him.

Purport (By His Divine Grace Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura Śrīla Prabhupāda): By the order of Śrī Nityānanda, Rāghava Paṇḍita found kadamba flowers in the lime tree. He prepared a garland with those flowers and offered it to Nityānanda Prabhu. At that time it was impossible to find kadamba flowers. Kadamba flowers generally blossom in the beginning of the rainy season during the month of Āṣāḍha (June-July). But it was not that time. Although from the external point of view it was impossible to find kadamba flowers, especially in a lime tree, it is never impossible in pastimes that are transcendental to material nature. Those who are adorned with spiritual realization do not enter into the arguments of this external world. A service-inclined heart checks a living entity’s inclination for enjoying this material world and helps him enter the kingdom of devotional service. In that state one’s ego does not remain confined to mundane relationships.

Jayapatākā Swami: Just like in the spiritual world there are desire trees, which can give any flower that you want, so somehow by the desire of Lord Nityānanda the lime trees in Rāghava Paṇḍita’s garden gave kadamba flowers.

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa 5.286

kadambera mālā dekhi’ nityānanda-rāya
parama santoṣe mālā dilena galāya

Jayapatākā Swami: When Lord Nityānanda saw the garland of kadamba flowers, He accepted the garland around His neck with great satisfaction.

Caitanya Bhāgavata, Antya-khaṇḍa 5.287

kadamba-mālāra gandhe sakala vaiṣṇava
vihvala hailā dekhi’ mahā-anubhava

Jayapatākā Swami: All the Vaiṣṇavas getting the sweet fragrance of that kadamba garland were overwhelmed seeing this wonderful incident.

Lord Nityānanda, if He desires something it happens. And so, here was a miracle that happened and all the devotees were filled with spiritual, loving ecstasy, seeing and smelling this wonderful kadamba garland.
