mūkaṁ karoti vācālaṁ paṅguṁ laṅghayate girim
yat-kṛpā tam ahaṁ vande śrī-guruṁ dīna-tāraṇam
paramānandaṁ mādhavaṁ śrī caitanya iśvaram

Hariḥ oṁ tat sat!

We are starting the chapter entitled

“Devotees Wonder Seeing the Symptoms of Love of Kṛṣṇa in Viśvambhara.”

So last night we asked the devotees to note down any words that they had difficulty in my pronunciation, so some did that, I am very grateful and I hope we will continue tonight. My voice therapist he said that getting any feedback is very useful.

Today I had physical therapy, voice therapy and I went cycling on my tricycle and I also met some devotees who came from distant places. So they all say that I look better!! But I am still weak after the operation. By intense physical therapy I get very tired. But eventually, he told that I will be able to walk. So many have said that in the past. But I will give my best. So I want to continue the class up till 9, and then we will have a few questions and answers. That will be the program for tonight.

Caitanya-bhāgavata Madhya-khaṇḍa 2.160

takhanao prabhute īśvarabuddhira avhāba thākileo prabhura premāveśa-darśane ‘īśvara’ baliẏā saṃśaẏa—

sabe baḍa ānandita dekhi’ viśvambhara
lakhite nā pāre keha āpana-īśvara

Jayapatākā Swami: Seeing Viśvambhara manifesting the love of Godhead everyone was greatly pleased. But they could not recognize Him as their Lord.

Caitanya-bhāgavata Madhya-khaṇḍa 2.161

sarva-vilakṣaṇa tāṅra parama-āveśa
dekhiyā sabāra citte sandeha viśeṣa

Jayapatākā Swami: His state of supreme absorption in spiritual life, set Him aside from others. On seeing this everyone became, especially doubtful.

Caitanya-bhāgavata Madhya-khaṇḍa 2.162

prabhura premāveśābasthā-barṇane ekamātra ‘śeṣa’i samartha—

yakhana prabhura haya ānanda-āveśa
ke kahibe tāhā, sabe pāre prabhu ‘śeṣa’

Jayapatākā Swami: When the Lord is fully absorbed in His blissful devotional state, who can describe that? The only one who can describe that is Lord Śeṣa. Śeṣa refers to the thousand headed Lord Anantadeva, the snake incarnation of the Lord.

Caitanya-bhāgavata Madhya-khaṇḍa 2.163

prabhura premavikāra-barṇana—

śateka-jane o kampa dharibāre nāre
nayane vahaye śata-śata-nadī-dhāre

Jayapatākā Swami: When the Lord’s body began to shiver and shake, even hundreds of people were unable to hold Him steady, and when His eyes produced tears, it was as if hundreds of rivers were flowing.

Caitanya-bhāgavata Madhya-khaṇḍa 2.164

kanaka-panasa yena pulakita aṅga
kṣaṇe-kṣaṇe aṭṭa-aṭṭa hāse bahu raṅga

Jayapatākā Swami: When the hairs on His body were standing upright, His body looked like a golden jackfruit, again and again, He would laugh in various ways.

Caitanya-bhāgavata Madhya-khaṇḍa 2.165

kṣaṇe haya ānande mūrchita prahareka
bāhya haile nā balena kṛṣṇa-vyatireka

Jayapatākā Swami: Sometimes in transcendental ecstasy the Lord lost consciousness for three hours and on regaining His external consciousness He would only talk about Krṣṇa. So when Lord Caitanya came out from His internal consciousness, to external consciousness, He would constantly chant the names of Krṣṇa. The living entities averse to Krṣṇa-sevā, always remain bereft of the Lord’s service. While remaining in a state of deep sleep or dreaming, upon awakening they are busy in discussing topics of their own sense gratification, but such behavior was not visible in Lord Caitanya. As the Lord was a teacher, Māhaprabhu, of the highest ideals, all of His activities internal and external were based on His service of Krṣṇa. So, He was always absorbed in Krṣṇa consciousness, even His dreams were Krṣṇa conscious.

Caitanya-bhāgavata Madhya-khaṇḍa 2.166

huṅkāra śunite dui śravaṇa vidare
tāna anugrahe tāna bhakta-gaṇa tare’

Jayapatākā Swami: The Lord roared so loud, that the devotees hearing, their ears would be pierced/smashed but by His mercy all of these devotees were delivered. So, when the godless people heard the Lord’s loud exclamation of love for Krṣṇa, their eardrums were almost broken! But by the Lord’s mercy, when the devotees heard the loud roaring of the Lord, they achieved freedom from material bondage, and material enjoyment which is not related to Krṣṇa. In other words, their inclination towards the service of the Lord gradually increased. So, the Lord’s loud chanting delivered the devotees and bewildered the bewildered - the non-devotees!

Caitanya-bhāgavata Madhya-khaṇḍa 2.167

sarva-aṅga stambhā-kṛti kṣaṇe-kṣaṇe haya
kṣaṇe haya sei aṅga navanīta-maya

Jayapatākā Swami: Sometimes Lord Gaurāṅga’s body became stiff, like the stationary form of the pillar. In a moment His body became like butter.

Caitanya-bhāgavata Madhya-khaṇḍa 2.168

prabhura premavikāra-darśane tām̐hāke sakalera atimartya-jñāna—

apūrva dekhiyā saba-bhāgavata-gaṇe
nara-jñāna āra keha nā karaye mane

Jayapatākā Swami: When all the devotees saw these wonderful acts, they no longer considered Him as an ordinary human being.

Caitanya-bhāgavata Madhya-khaṇḍa 2.169

keha bale,—“e puruṣa aṁśa-avatāra”
keha bale,—“e śarīre kṛṣṇera vihāra”

Jayapatākā Swami: Someone said, that this person is a partial incarnation of the Supreme Lord. Someone else said that Lord Krṣṇa sports in His body.

Caitanya-bhāgavata Madhya-khaṇḍa 2.170

keha bale,—“kibāśuka, prahlāda, nārada”
keha bale,—“hena bujhi khaṇḍila āpada”

Jayapatākā Swami: Someone said, He may be Śukadeva Gosvāmī, Prahlāda or Nārada Muni. Another said, I understand all our troubles will be vanquished.

Caitanya-bhāgavata Madhya-khaṇḍa 2.171

yata saba bhāgavata-gaṇera gṛhiṇī
tāṅrā bale,—“kṛṣṇa āsi’ janmilā āpani”

Jayapatākā Swami: All the wives of the devotees said, it appears that Krṣṇa has personally appeared. It seems that Krṣṇa Himself has personally appeared.

Caitanya-bhāgavata Madhya-khaṇḍa 2.172

keha bale,—“ei bujhi prabhu-avatāra”
ei-mata mane sabe karena vicāra

Jayapatākā Swami: Someone said, I understand that He is an incarnation of the Supreme Lord. In this way, everyone was considering Lord Viśvambhara, in their own way.

This is the end of the chapter entitled: “Devotees, wonder seeing the symptoms of love of Krṣṇa in Viśvambhara”

Any questions?

Question: What was the roar of Gaurāṅga like?

Jayapatākā Swami: How am I supposed to say?? It was so loud that it almost broke the ear drums of the non-devotees and the devotees by hearing His loud chanting of Krṣṇa’s holy names, they were immediately freed from the bondage of the material world. So obviously His chanting was transcendental. It was loud, but it was very spiritually potent.

One thing is that Nārāyaṇī Rādhā devī dāsī from Moscow has sent us a link of a program which will play back my video without audio. And the person can put in his or her own audio. In this case, it is Russian. But it could be any language. So we want people to translate in Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, south Indian languages, Hindi, Bengali and also other international languages like Spanish, Italian, Portuguese. So if there is anyone who would want to translate for those languages, send me an email and my secretary will send you the program. Apparently, I can be heard and you can hear the visual sound track and plus you can also hear the translation, who will be translating in your language.

Hare Krṣṇa!
