So, Jananivās told me how tomorrow is the appearance of Śrīvas Thakur, and then at eleven o’ clock we would do an abhisekh. So, Śrīvas is a very special associate of Lord Caitanya. He is Jīva tattva. We are all Jīva tattva’s; and so am I. So, that means that we are the individual souls, and that we are the smallest sparks. But since Śrīvās Thakur was non-different from Nārada Muni, he was empowered by Lord Kṛṣṇa Caitanya Mahāprabhu. He could do some wonderful things, and his love for Lord Caitanya was unparallel. When his son died, he came and found all his family members, his wife and others were crying. So, he said, "Why are you crying?” They said, “Your son Gopal is dead.”

“Dead?” ……………. [Dead]

“So, there is nothing that we can do. Don’t disturb Lord Caitanya’s kīrtan. Otherwise you would have to lament for my death also.”

So, then Lord Caitanya said, “Why there is crying from your house?”

“Oh! my son died.”

“Your son died. Come on! that is a major thing.”

“Well, I didn’t want to disturb your kīrtan.”

“Bring your son’s body here.”

So, he brought the dead body of his son out, and then Lord Caitanya said, “Gopal! Get up.” And his dead son came alive and stood up. He said, “Why have you left Mālinī and Śrīvas?”

“I have had many parents. But these parents were special because they gave me pure Kṛṣṇa consciousness, and why you are asking? You have taken me away… and I saw the spiritual world, and you brought me back.” Like that they had a discussion. And Gopal was speaking from the platform of a soul. So, then he asked the mother of Gopal, Mālinī, “What should I do?” because the mother saw that he got back to the spiritual world, she said, “Alright, let him go.” And then he told Gopal, “Lay down again.” and on the order of Lord Caitanya he left his body and went back to Godhead. So, then Lord Caitanya took the body to the Ganges side, and they performed the final rights, and they bathed in the Ganges water. Similarly, there was one case of Lord Caitanya. He was chanting in the house of… in the garden of Śrīvās Thākur, and then he stopped, “Today I am not feeling ecstasy. I don’t feel bliss. Who of you is responsible? You? Who is responsible? Why am I not feeling bliss?” and every devotee thought, “I am an offender. It must be due to some offence that I did.” No one could think of exactly why. And then Lord Caitanya started the kīrtan again, and He was dancing, and then after about fifteen minutes He stopped, “I am not feeling any ecstasy. Is there any outsider here?” So, then Śrīvās, he looked in his house. He didn’t see anybody. He looked around, he didn’t see anybody, he saw a basket turned over. He looked under the basket. There was an old lady there. He picked her by the neck, showed her the door and pushed her out.

“Śrīvās! Wasn’t that your mother in law.” Lord Caitanya asked him.

“I don’t know.”

“No, no, wasn’t that your mother in law?”

“I don’t know anybody who disturbs your kīrtan.”

“That was your mother in law. You should respect your mother in law. If she was disturbing the kīrtan, then I don’t mind even if have face some problem later.” So, this was the character of Śrīvās Thakur.

Lord Caitanya said, “You are too much. You go beyond the level of duty.”

So, Śrīvās was very simple minded. So, one day the boat carrying soldiers docked in Nabadwip. It was the change of the soldiers; a routine change. But some people said, “Śrīvās, look this your fault, they are now going to persecute the Hindus.” So, Śrīvās, he took it seriously, and he was praying to Lord Nṛsṁhadev to protect all the Hindus. Then there was a knock on the door, “Śrīvās. This is who you are praying to, He is here, please open the door.”

“What is this. I am praying to Lord Nṛsiṁha, Lord Nārāyaṇa.”

He opened the door, and Lord Caitanya was seated on a cot or something, and He extended His four hands and he was showing the Nārāyaṇa form, and so Śrīvās, he offered his obeisance’s. Lord Caitanya said, “Nothing to worry about. When I am here you have no fear.” So, like this there are so many pastimes of Śrīvās Thakur, and tomorrow is his appearance day. So, we hope that you all have a wonderful Śrīvās Thākur abhirbav Tithi mahotsava.

Haribol.

Any questions?

Question: How can we get the mercy of Śrīvās Thakur?

Gurumahārāja: Chant Hare Kṛṣṇa. He was the person who asked actually, “How would the people of Kali Yuga get the mercy?” And Lord Kṛṣṇa said, “I will come as a devotee and give out the Harinām.

Hare Kṛṣṇa Hare Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa Hare Hare

Hare Rāma Hare Rāma Rāma Rāma Hare Hare….(Repeated by the devotees)
