Following is the Ratha-yātrā address given by His Holiness Jayapatākā Swami Mahārāja on 19th Sept, 2005 in Teluk Intan,  Malaysia

This year we did the Ratha-yātrā in Italy. They have attended the song Rādhā Kṛṣṇa bol bol re sabai... to give the Italians an idea about the teachings that Lord Caitanya had given to serve and dance.

Maybe in the future the song can be presented in Chinese and Tamil but for now the Bengali is very simple, so i was listening to the song which tells what the main teachings Chaitanya Mahaprabhu had. So what i mean is whenever we sing that chorus everyone has to clap their hands and also sing.Rādhā Kṛṣṇa Rādhā Kṛṣṇa ( devotees repeat) bolo bolo bolo re sabai. Bolo means chant.

rādhā-kṛṣṇa' bol bol bolo re sobāi (2)

(ei) śikṣā diyā, sab nadīyā

phirche nece' gaura-nitāi

Sri Gaur Nitai means that Lord Chaitanya Nityananda they were dancing all over the Nawadwip Nadia dhāma teaching the people and they were getting everyone to chant. Chant the names of Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa. Kṛṣṇa is the supreme person and Rādhā is supreme energy. So Kṛṣṇa was one and in order to expand  His past times he became two. We recently observed Rādhāstami,  the appearance of Rādhārāṇī, equal to 100 thousands Ekadasis. It's very special because Rādhārāṇī is so dear to Kṛṣṇa. So Lord Chaitanya, Lord Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa again came together and that's Lord Chiatanya.  Kṛṣṇa in the mood of Rādhā. In that mood He is giving out His mercy to everyone. How many of you want the mercy of Lord Chaitanya?? Haribol…..So what are the teachings he gave?

 Guru Mahārāja  singing:

(miche) māyār bośe, jāccho bhese',

khāccho hābuḍubu, bhāi

‘rādhā-kṛṣṇa' bol bol bolo re sobāi

 You are under the influence of maya. You are falling in the ocean of birth and death, You are getting hit by the waves of the material energy. Sometimes being smashed out , sometimes getting the fresh fresh air that's [ not clear] When you are getting smashed then dug dug dug... when you are getting the breath of fresh air ha...ha….interesting language…( devotees laughing)

So Lord Chaitanya says that's why you should chant Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa, make your life perfect. How many of you want to be happy, santosham. That's how you can be happy by chanting: 'rādhā-kṛṣṇa' bol bol bolo re sobāi [ devotees repeating]

Guru Maharaj singing:

(jīv) kṛṣṇa-dās, e biśwās,

korle to' ār duḥkho nāi (repeated twice)

'rādhā-kṛṣṇa' bol bol bolo re sobāi

rādhā-kṛṣṇa' bol bol, Every one, bolo re sobāi

Jivo Kṛṣṇa Das De Vishwas...If you believe If you believe the jiva is a servant of  Kṛṣṇa, we have to understand, we have to believe that  Kṛṣṇa is my master. I am His servant . In this way we get protected from suffering. We take everything as Kṛṣṇa’s mercy. How many of you believe you are the servant of Kṛṣṇa?...Haribol!!   Thank you very much...

So from now on you should not be unhappy ever. Even if we get some difficulty we take it as Kṛṣṇa’s mercy and we chant Hare Kṛṣṇa. Hare Kṛṣṇa is the way of chanting Rādhā Kṛṣṇa. Simple way, If you chant Rādhā Kṛṣṇa Hare Kṛṣṇa it’s non different. So Lord Chaintanya tells us if we chant Hare Kṛṣṇa then we are going to feel ecstatic.

(kṛṣṇa) bolbe jabe, pulak ha'be

jhorbe āńkhi, boli tāi (repeated twice)

When you chant Rādhā Kṛṣṇa, When you chant the name of Kṛṣṇa your hair will stand on edge. All the hair in your body will stand on it. Tears will fall from your eyes. That's why that’s how Bhakti Vinod Thakur is chanting.Yesterday was Bhakti Vinod Thakur’s appearance day. He is the one who established the Namahatta preaching. So all the Namahattas, BV, Counsell group preachers everyone is indebted to Bhaktivinoda Thakur. He is very merciful. He showed us how we can practice from our home. He was a grihastha, he had a job with the government, he was also a guru, he was also a preacher. So we need all of you to be preachers to give the mercy of Kṛṣṇa to others .So when we talk about Kṛṣṇa when you chant Kṛṣṇa you feel ecstasy you feel blissful. This is very wonderful. People never experience such happiness as you can experience by chanting the Holy Name. I am feeling very bad, very bad. You all finished Ratha-yātrā very quickly and I came little late so I was going to chant and dance for one hour with the Ratha-yātrā. But it's finished now so i am feeling very bad.  So this is the thing when we are singing we want everyone to sing with us that's what Lord Chaitanya wanted

Rādhā Kṛṣṇa Bolo; Chant Rādhā Kṛṣṇa  sańge calo: Come with us. This is the only thing I am asking you, Lord Chaitanya said. Chant Hare Kṛṣṇa. Come with us back home back to Godhead...Haribol! Well I have never seen such a merciful incarnation. He is

Not considered who is qualified who is unqualified .He delivers everyone. Guru Mahārāja singing….Paapi...We all sinful people alll will be delivered by chanting:

Hare Kṛṣṇa Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa Hare Hare

Hare Rama Hare Ram, Ram Ram Hare Hare

So this is one verse of the original song. There is another verse. That means that some people have fear that if i chant Hare Kṛṣṇa may be I will lose something. But Bhakti Vinod Thakur says nothing to fear. Chanting these Holy Names one gets freed from all fears. Kṛṣṇa is the giver of fearlessness.

So you see Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, He used to preach by songs and dancing and dramas. You can also spread the message by culture by songs. It's very simple concept but very deep and profound. You know we always tell we are not the body we are the living force within the body. We are the spirit soul. We are the one that makes the body alive. Somebody went by aeroplane flying business class all the way to America but they got caught in hurricane Katrina and then they died. So when they were sent back they were sent back as cargo. Why did they go in business class and come back in cargo class because the soul is already gone. The soul is the real person . When the person left, then only cargo. Person left like the atma left. So i thought that was very interesting example. Who is the real person? What was missing? The same body was there coming back from America as the body went. What was missing? Who can say what was missing? Atma….Let’s give her a big hand...Haribol!!  (Devotees clapping).

So the atma is the real person but we have never seen the atma. But without the atma the body  is not alive so it certainly means we should become atma realised, self realised. That's called atma uplabdhi, self realisation. So we are trying to help everyone so that they can realise who they really are and this way actually be successful as a human being. So just like Prabhupāda gave the example that when you feed the car you give the car gasoline or petrol but the driver of the car, you don't give him petrol. He eats dosa, rice, kurma. So like this. We feed our body with grains, fruits and vegetables but we have to also feed the soul.So food for the soul and the body both is called Kṛṣṇa prasadam.Today the Teluk Intan devotees have arranged for you Kṛṣṇa Prasadam.

How many of you like Kṛṣṇa Prasadam? How many of you eat Kṛṣṇa Prasadam? How many of you eat Kṛṣṇa Prasadam everyday? You should cook Kṛṣṇa Prasadam, eat and offer to Kṛṣṇa in your house, learn how to do that from devotees and everyday eat Kṛṣṇa Prasadam. Sometimes people say ‘ oh you are vegetarian, i cannot be vegetarian’. But we are not vegetarians. We eat Kṛṣṇa Prasad. All of you raised your hands, all of you liked Kṛṣṇa prasad. So take Kṛṣṇa prasad everyday and be blessed. You can offer any satvik food to Kṛṣṇa if you cook it in devotion and love. So like this there is few simple practices we do but they are very powerful. This Ratha-yātrā festival is also a very powerful festival. It's a personal service to the Lord. Lord Jagannath is the incarnation of Krsna, he is the arca avatar, worshipable form of Krsna. We can see Him, we can carry Him, we can fan Him, we can offer Him bhoga, we can accept the remnants as Kṛṣṇa Prasadam. We can dance before Jagannath. So He is visible form. We also chant Hare Kṛṣṇa. Hare Kṛṣṇa mantra is also incarnation of Kṛṣṇa. It's the audible form ,audible incarnation of Kṛṣṇa, sound incarnation of Kṛṣṇa. It's called shabda pramaan, absolute truth in sound. Absolute Truth in sound  you cannot see but you can hear. You can hear, you can sing, you can dance. So Lord Caitanya said that when He goes back to the spiritual world, He will remain with the devotees in two forms: In the deity form, visible form of the deities and in the form of the Holy name, the sound form of the Lord. So here this festival is filed with these two forms:  visible and audible and by serving like this together with many other devotees in cooperation, Kṛṣṇa will give you unlimited blessings. So i want to thank all the  organisers for putting this festival on, i want to thank all of you for participating, thank to devotees who came from south  from north  from east from west, from far east. Even make it from all the way from Kuchi. I came all the way from Mayapur . Remember the special song we sang today.
