20050827 Śrī Krishna Janmastami

The following is a lecture given by His Holiness Jayapataka SwamiMaharaj on August 27th 2005 in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia the talk was given in the evening on the occasion of Sri Krishna Janmastami.

Maya it is like the darkness when there is Krishna there is no nescience,  no ignorance considering that some people say(Have to look at) why did Krishna appear in midnight why didn’t he appear normally, many times the Lord appears on Poornima because Krishna himself he appeared in a chandravamsha because he is more brilliant than millions of moons and millions of sun he doesn’t need a full moon, when he come the whole world becomes illuminated all the darkness goes away, so this is so auspicious this material world is a dark place birth, death, old age, disease, day time, night time, day time, night time, happiness, sadness, duality because he is coming from the spiritual world where there is Vaikuntha always happy he has pure illumination. So, his coming into this world is something very glorious, we are the criminals we are in the prison house and Lord is coming here to deliver us to take us back that is his special mercy when Krishna came everybody was rejoicing everyone except for Kamsa except for the demons. All the devotees, all the devas everyone was feeling joyful and tomorrow when Nanda Maharaj sees his beautiful son he organizes a big feast called Nanda mahautsava so, hope you will come tomorrow for another feast it will be around one or two in the afternoon something like that we will tell you,so this Nandautsava is also very special because that is the day Prabupada Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada ki, Jai he appeared in the world in order to give us Krishna, so he was ready to come on Krishna Janmastmi but out of respect for Krishna he waited one day after. So, we get Krishna and Guru right after each other so by mercy of Guru we get Krishna and by mercy of Krishna you get Guru, “Guru Krishna prasade paye bhakti lata bheej” so by Krishna today his blessings tomorrow we get Prabhupada and by Prabhupada’s blessing we get Krishna. It is hard process to serve Krishna now he is in the spiritual world so we can serve his representative the Guru by serving the spiritual master then Krishna is pleased and by blessing of Krishna we got Guru and now by blessing of Guru we get Krishna. So, this is the wonderful situation so we are preparing to do arati for the Lord the appearance arati, 15 days from now Radha Rani appears. On Radha astmi we only have to wait till noon she appeared on mid-day, Krishna appeared in mid-night Prabhupada said Radha Rani is more merciful he makes us fast a long but we also take’s Krishna’s mercy by coming here on Jhanmastmi, by doing some of the seva’s and vrata’s for Krishna we can get his special mercy. Krishna will never forget that you stayed up for his midnight nirjal. We shall engage and see his arati during his puja’s. We do a service for Krishna he doesn’t forget we may do so many things for some friends, some relatives later you expect them to reciprocate and when they don’t reciprocate you say I did this for you, I did that for you, you forget, but Krishna doesn’t forget so we should take Krishna as our best friend he is such a friend that he always takes care of his devotees. He told Arjuna broadly, loudly he declared “na me bhakta pranashati” my devotee will never perish Krishna always protects his devotees so that we get back to him at the end of this life time. If we do our service to Krishna nicely, Prabhupada said when we are responsible in our service to him than he takes the responsibility to protect us that is the Lord’s duty so nobody else can fully protect us in this material world. We read every day in papers how something political leaders something rich person with bodyguards with whole army protecting. The president of Egypt so many years ago his own body guard killed him (Some devotees are laughing)

Japapataka Swami Maharaj : What’s his name also Indra Gandhi’s body guard so this is the thing who is there to protect us in the material world Krishna ,Krishna rakhe mare kaie Krishna mare rakhe kaie when Krishna protects you who is there that can harm you and when Krishna wants to harm you who can protect you (Not audible) battle,  so Krishna is so merciful how he comes in his childhood form and he will start his childhood pastimes as a baby, what do Krishna have to do to become God ? what do Krishna have to do to become Bhagavan? Anyone can say, nothing he was always Bhagavan tricky question. People say you this you that you become Bhagavan all cheaters Bhagavan is always Bhagavan, when Krishna was born he came with four hands, he came with mukut with helmet, with the jewelry he is always Bhagavan in Kamsa karagar, Kamsa’s prison house he was Bhagavan, when he was on the lap of  Yashoda he was Bhagavan, Putana thought this is an easy kill put the poison on my breast and feed this baby hahaaaha haaaa I will kill this baby she took a beautiful form and she is smiling aah what a beautiful baby kuchi kuchi koo, Kuchi kochi koo come and suck my milk I feel so much motherly affection for you Oh mother Yashoda give me your beautiful baby let me feed him, then she put the baby on her breast making believe him showing so much motherly affection so then Krishna, Since she wanted to kill Krishna, Krishna says “ye yatha mam prapadyante tams tathaiva bhajamy aham” As you approach me I will reciprocate with you, so she approached him like mother he reciprocated. When she died he put her in spiritual world like mother and she came to kill him so he reciprocated he killed her. When she put the breast in Krishna’s mouth Krishna sucked out the life air right from her body and he is sucking the life air she is saying no leave me child aahaaa leave me leave me leave me aahaaa finished than she took this big horrible form Putana the witch she was rakshasi but because she was killed by Krishna even the rotten body feels smells good. So, if we want to cheat Krishna, he can cheat us better than him Putana thought I don’t cheat him Putana cheated, Putna got cheated but because even she looked at Krishna oh you are a little baby you are so nice, I am your mother so ok you want to be my mother ok she became mother, if we really want to be Krishna’s mother what is the problem Krishna can easily give us, if he gives Putana he can give any of us his very intimate service with just a little bit of devotion.Therefore Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu advises we should all do bhakti we should chant the Lord’s holy name Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare

we should read Bhagavad Gita and Srimad Bhagavatam and we should worship the Lord, now we are going to do worship, in the worship you can sing and dance How many of you have been fasting? So those of you fasting before you go home take some anukalp prasad How many of you already had prasad? So very good no one should go without prasad
