19891103 Caitanya-caritamrita Ādi-līlā.4.29-30 Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 6.2.18

3 Nov 1989|English|Caitanya-caritāmṛta|Atlanta, USA

The following is a class given by His Holiness Jayapataka Swami on November 3rd 1989 at Atlanta, Georgia. The class begins with a reading from the Caitanya Caritamrita Adi Lila, Chapter 4 verse 29-30 and continues with a Srimad Bhagavatam 6th Canto Chapter 2 verse 18

Jayapataka Swami:

Their way of self-realization is simply joyful (kevala-ananda-kanda), for They introduced chanting and dancing. There are many incarnations like Lord Rama-and even Krsna, who taught Bhagavad-gita, which requires knowledge and understanding. But Lord Caitanya and Nityananda introduced a process that is simply joyful simply chant and dance. Therefore, Locana dasa requests everyone: bhaja bhaja bhai, caitanya-nitai. "My dear brother, I request that you just worship Lord Caitanya and Nityananda with firm conviction and faith." Don't think that this chanting and dancing will not lead to the desired goal. It will. It is the assurance of Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu that one will get all perfection by this process. Therefore one must chant with firm faith and conviction (visvasa kori). But what is the process? The process is visaya chadiya, se rase majiya. If one wants to be Krsna conscious by this process, one must give up his engagement in sense gratification. That is the only restriction. If one gives up sense gratification, it is sure that he will reach the desired goal. Mukhe bolo hari hari: one simply  has  to  chant Hare Krsna, Hari Hari, without any motive of sense gratification.

Dekha ore bhai, tri-bhuvane nai. Locana dasa Thakura says, "My dear brother, you just try and examine this. Within the three worlds there is no one like Lord Caitanya or Lord Nityananda, because their merciful qualities are so great that they make even birds and beasts cry, what to speak of human beings." Actually, when Lord Caitanya passed through the forest known as Jharikhanda, the tigers, elephants, snakes, deer, and all other animals joined Him in chanting Hare Krsna. It is so nice that anyone can join. Even the animals can join, what to speak of human beings. Of course, it is not possible for ordinary men to induce animals to chant, but if Caitanya Mahaprabhu could inspire animals to chant, at least we can encourage human beings to adopt this path of Hare Krsna mantra chanting. It is so nice that even the most stonehearted man will be melted. Pasana means "stone." It is so nice that even stone will melt.

But Locana dasa Thakura regrets that he is entrapped by sense gratification. He addresses himself, "My dear mind, you are entrapped in this sense gratification process, and you have no attraction for chanting Hare Krsna. Since you have no attraction for the lotus feet of Lord Caitanya and Lord Nityananda, what can I say? I can simply think of my misfortune. Yamaraja, the superintendent of death, is punishing me by not allowing me to be attracted by this movement."

“The influence of yogamāyā will inspire the gopīs with the sentiment that I am their paramour.”

Purport: Yogamāyā is the name of the internal potency that makes the Lord forget Himself and become an object of love for His pure devotee in different transcendental mellows. This yogamāyā potency creates a spiritual sentiment in the minds of the damsels of Vraja by which they think of Lord Kṛṣṇa as their paramour. This sentiment is never to be compared to mundane illicit sexual love. It has nothing to do with sexual psychology, although the pure love of such devotees seems to be sexual. One should know for certain that nothing can exist in this cosmic manifestation that has no real counterpart in the spiritual field. All material manifestations are emanations of the transcendence. The erotic principles of amorous love reflected in mixed material values are perverted reflections of the reality of spirit, but one cannot understand the reality unless one is sufficiently educated in the spiritual science.

āmiha nā jāni tāhā, nā jāne gopī-gaa duhāra rūpa-gue duhāra nitya hare mana

                                                         CC1.4.30

“Neither the gopīs nor I shall notice this, for our minds will always be entranced by one another’s beauty and qualities.”

Purport: In the spiritual sky the Vaikuṇṭha planets are predominated by Nārāyaa. His devotees have the same features He does, and the exchange of devotion there is on the platform of reverence. But above all these Vaikuṇṭha planets is Goloka, or Kṛṣṇaloka, where the original Personality of Godhead, Kṛṣṇa, fully manifests His pleasure potency in free loving affairs. Since the devotees in the material world know almost nothing about these affairs, the Lord desires to show these affairs to them.

In Goloka Vndāvana there is an exchange of love known as parakīya-rasa. It is something like the attraction of a married woman for a man other than her husband. In the material world this sort of relationship is most abominable because it is a perverted reflection of the parakīya-rasa in the spiritual world, where it is the highest kind of loving affair. Such feelings between the devotee and the Lord are presented by the influence of yogamāyā. The Bhagavad-gītā states that devotees of the highest grade are under the care of daiva-māyā, or yogamāyā: mahātmānas tu māpārtha daivīpraktim āśritā (Bg. 9.13). Those who are actually great souls (mahātmās) are fully absorbed in Kṛṣṇa consciousness, always engaged in the service of the Lord. They are under the care of daivī-prakti, or yogamāyā. Yogamāyā creates a situation in which the devotee is prepared to transgress all regulative principles simply to love Kṛṣṇa. A devotee naturally does not like to transgress the laws of reverence for  the  Supreme   Personality   of   Godhead,   but   by   the   influence of yogamāyā he is prepared to do anything to love the Supreme Lord better.

Those under the spell of the material energy cannot at all appreciate the activities    of yogamāyā, for a conditioned soul can hardly understand the pure reciprocation between the Lord and His devotee. But by executing devotional service under the regulative principles, one can become very highly elevated and then begin to appreciate the dealings of pure love under the management of yogamāyā.

In the spiritual loving sentiment induced by the yogamāyā potency, both Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa and the damsels of Vraja forget themselves in spiritual rapture. By the influence of such forgetfulness, the attractive beauty of the gopīs plays a prominent part in the transcendental satisfaction of the Lord, who has nothing to do with mundane sex. Because spiritual love of Godhead is above everything mundane, the gopīs superficially seem to transgress the codes of mundane morality. This perpetually puzzles mundane moralists. Therefore yogamāyā acts to cover the Lord and   His   pastimes   from    the    eyes    of    mundaners,    as    confirmed    in    the Bhagavad-gītā (7.25), where the Lord says that He reserves the right of not being exposed to everyone.

The acts of yogamāyā make it possible for the Lord and the gopīs, in loving ecstasy, to sometimes meet and sometimes separate. These transcendental loving affairs of the Lord are unimaginable to empiricists involved in the impersonal feature of the Absolute Truth. Therefore the Lord Himself appears before the mundaners to bestow upon them the highest form of spiritual realization and also personally relish its essence. The Lord is so merciful that He Himself descends to take the fallen souls back home to the kingdom of Godhead, where the erotic principles of Godhead are eternally relished in their real form, distinct from the perverted sexual love so much adored and indulged in by the fallen souls in their diseased condition. The reason the Lord displays the rāsa-līlā is essentially to induce all the fallen souls to give up their diseased morality and religiosity, and to attract them to the kingdom of God to enjoy the reality. A person who actually understands what the rāsa-līlā is will certainly hate to indulge in mundane sex life. For the realized soul, hearing the

Lord’s rāsa-līlā through the proper channel will result in complete abstinence from material sexual pleasure.

Thus ends the Bhaktivedanta Swami Translation Purport of text 29 and 30 of the Caitanya Caritamrita Adi-lila Chapter 4. So just at the end of Dwapara Yuga Lord Sri Krishna displayed his transcendental pastimes, they’re nicely recorded on the Srimad Bhagavatam the place of those pastimes are also nicely preserved by the efforts of Lord Caitanya and His disciple the 6 Goswami’s and Lod Caitanya came here He is explaining how He wants to give to the fallen souls the information of the pastimes which are even amazing for Him. In the Vaikunta the Lord hears the prayers offered in the Vedas, Krishna says when he hears the Vedas is very pleasing to him but He is more attracted or even his mind goes away listening to the prayers given in the Vedas by His loving approached of His pure devotees who are serving Him in these different relationships, books written in the about erotic principles of serving the transcendental Lord even in India these things are very esoteric not very well understood they’re not widely broadcasted that’s why many people don’t understand Krishna, it’s frustrating for Srila Prabhupada who by nature is born preacher, by nature a preacher to see that Krishna is misunderstood, even in Vrindavan in His book Vrindavani Bhajan it’s been translated but not been published yet. Srila Prabhupada commented that the Christian missionary’s they come to Vrindavan and they criticise Krishna that why Krishna’s having His amorous pastimes, why He is dancing rasa-lila with young girls, what kind of God your worshipping you see, at least in India they know but here they don’t even know about Krishna, they don’t know anything about Krishna consciousness so they‘re not so prepared even to criticise on the bases of any understanding of our doctrines, they just imagine something that we’re taking drugs, that we’re doing…which is completely bogus and false but in India they do their homework a little bit and then they know Krishna steals butter and Krishna dances with Gopi’s so they come in with their missionaries and criticise what type of god your worshiping, His a thief (devotees laugh) He steals butter and then He is also stealing the girls clothes, He is dancing in the night in the moon lit night with young girls so what type of God your worshipping and then Prabhupada was so frustrated anyone in Vrindavan can easily explain to these you know people from other religions, what is the glories of Krishna, what is the you know what is actually the meaning of these things but instead the people are coming, their criticising there going and nobody opens their mouth in Vrindavan, so many babaji’s, so many Gosai’s so many so called Gosai’s babaji’s and Prabhupada said what are they even Kanistha Adhikari he doesn’t know what type of Adhikari they are that how these people come in there and they don’t preach at all, they don’t tell them anything and so they remain in their ignorance so Prabhupada felt very critical in one sense in a constructive way saying what’s going in Vrindavan, everyone comes here for worship but these people come and they won’t even open their mouth and tell them that what is the real story of what’s going on, how this is a most confidential pastimes of the Lord, that the Lord has His highest realms, He has His majestic realms He has so many different realms, He has His highest realm where He engages in His loving pastimes as a little boy. Little boy’ always feel you know…in America you know how little boy’s raid their refrigerator, if you look at occasionally Denis the menace and that’s a cartoon and it’s on the paper you glanced at it maybe its apparadha (devotees laugh) *… [not clear 14:30] but one

time I saw that he’s raiding the refrigerator (devotees laugh) you know I’m sure that’s a common thing so Lord Krishna would raid the His mother’s didn’t have a refrigerator, she had Godowns, she had a little warehouse rooms store rooms and she kept butter and yogurts so He raided but then He would give it out to the monkeys and these monkeys would come and get butters from Krishna but it says these monkeys are actually great sage great saints who have got the blessing to come and get the butter from the hand of God while He is playing like a little boy similarly childhood pastimes then there is youthful pastimes which are more intricate and involved where he starts to manifest His youthful pastimes with the Gopi’s, where He is engaging in Rasa-lila, when he plays His flute, the Gopi’s think I have another husband, I have a family, I can’t go out but He plays His flute and they go mad and they want to be with Krishna. So, they want to join Krishna, they want to leave their room they want to leave their house, they try to run out, they don’t care what anybody thinks anymore they don’t care whether they’ll be criticised and whatever they just give up everything all considerations just to run to be with Krishna but their parents are standing in the door no you can’t go out it’s too late, you know you can’t go out you know so they lock them in their room but their desire to be with Krishna so strong although their body is laying the bed, there in their spiritual form leave their body and there for the parents to see and in their spiritual form they go and meet Krishna and there they’re dancing with Krishna. So, in the material world, we have parents, we have people like that on the spiritual world, you don’t have people that obstruct but the thought that I can’t, just like dress rehearsal not a dress like a rehearsal but without the stage props aren’t there but you think they are there by Yogamaya, they can’t import demons in the spiritual world or have your parents stop the door way anyone that’s not in the mood of the pastimes can’t even get into it, a ticket of admittance to the spiritual world that’s why sometimes when Krishna comes to the material world and has his pastimes it’s also like here you can have all the actor, you can have demons, you can have everybody so it’s like a full, it’s like a special act, enactment of the pastime with all the players but how that these pastimes although they appear like mundane sexual activities there not actually, they got nothing do with mundane or sexual activities actually when Krishna first had the rasa-lila he was 7 years old at that time and the Gopi’s were at similar age so 7 years olds it’s not  that their activities even though they’re dancing in the night, they’re not having  sexual activities, this is there they danced, they splashed water in the river on each other, sometime they would embrace, they would kiss but they wouldn’t engage in sex as it is known here in the material world, they weren’t interested in sense gratification but they are interested in trying to please Krishna and Krishna wanted to please His devotees because they wanted to serve Him in this way, this particular means of serving Krishna allows the most variety and intensity of different emotions to be expressed and the Gopi’s are very creative in trying to make these loving affairs very complicated for Krishna and Krishna’s very expert so between the two they’re completely absorbed in these little different intrigues which are the way of expressing and completely absorbed in trying to serve the Lord so this is going on in the spiritual world its reality, its going on that’s why it’s a mirror reflection, perverted reflection on the material world there is sex life, there are these thing but here its considered immoral is considered not so nice in comparison specially to parakia rasa, marriage life is considered the highest than spiritual world the parakia rasa’s considered higher, marriage life is considered lower, both are there, different moods of serving Krishna and Dwarka

Krishna is served by the queens of Dwarka, who considers themselves to be Krishna’s wife, in Vrindavan, He is served by the Gopi’s who considers themselves  to be someone else’s wife, or to be unmarried all though Krishna is the husband of everyone where the question on immorality when Krishna being the supreme Lord and we accept that Krishna is the supreme Lord there’s no question of morality, everyone is His part, everyone is His devotee as the supreme person the supreme male figure everyone in one sense is His wife or His energy, someone wrote me though that function of a wife is to consider herself to really be the wife of Krishna but I’ve never heard, because we don’t know what our Rasa is with Krishna we’re not supposed to jump the gun may even have a women’s body unless by natural progress of Krishna consciousness a person develops a spontaneous devotion in a particular rasa and at that point one is free from material desires has transcended material desire to really know that there real rasa that they have developed that they have manifesting with Krishna, no one can be hundred percent sure that when they leave this body or in their spiritual form what is their eternal relationship with Krishna, they may be a Gopi, they may be a queen, they maybe a friend of Krishna, they may be a parent maybe a father it’s not assured that just because a person has a female body now than in the spiritual world they will necessarily have female body with Krishna, they were female body this time because in the last life time they were attached to someone in a female body, they’ve might have been a male in their last life and was over attached to their wife or their girlfriend or their mother somehow they left their body and became a took birth in a female body, and a female who is attached to their husband or son they took birth in a male body everyone in a male body was in a female sometime in the past and vice versa. So the particular body that we have now doesn’t indicate what is there maybe someone in a male body it doesn’t mean that he cannot have a relationship with Krishna as a Gopi in the spiritual world, doesn’t also mean that everyone’s going to be a Gopi or what their particular relationship is going to be so it’s a bit dangerous if we start relating Krishna on that level because we can mix into it some kind of material sexual desire and material lusty desires and Krishna really has nothing to do with this material body, Krishna not concerned with any material women’s body. If we think that Krishna already attracted to this body this useless machine made out of flesh and blood and mucus and bones and remains and you know lymph glands so many other things which are there, skin and hair that’s  not…Gopi’s are manifesting a beautiful form, they decorating themselves so that just like women decorate themselves in this world to attract their person they love so Gopi are dressing in order to please Krishna, that Krishna sees them nicely decorated Krishna will be pleased, their desire is not for their personal sense gratification, they are happy when they see Krishna is happy. Radharani in the antya Lila which we read before going around second time round on Caitanya Caritamrita, she said that Krishna will be more pleased with someone else I’ll go and become a slave or a servant of that persons house to get the person to agree to be with Krishna if she doesn’t agree I’ll do anything to make Krishna happy I don’t have any other purpose in my life other than make Krishna happy and she knows that sometimes Krishna’s happy even when she is angry at Krishna, if she shows angry inside she’s happy but outside she shows anger and then Krishna he gets morosed like its more intercrate the whole affair so here just giving us a little overview actually Prabhupada explains that even in the Krishna book he gave the rasa Lila he gives his pastimes in a basic forma and Caitanya Caritamrita some places gives them in

great detail. It works out that the six Goswami’s gives it in greater detail bit hearing and reading those pastimes if somebody gets sexually agitated, if they’re material desire start to they’re not pure enough to read any further on those subjects matters, they have to go on chanting hare Krishna practicing devotional service maybe later down the road when they can hear the pastime instead they’re feeling some spiritual inspiration they’re actually feeling ecstasy in their heart, at least they’re not getting materially agitated then there qualified to listen but if they get agitated somehow there mind is not purified enough that it cannot keep relating to these things as some kind of material sexual activities and therefore they’re material organs are becoming agitated, they’re mind is becoming agitated this way then there just too neophyte and these are very very elevated subject matter but it’s important at least to understand what they are be able to explain it, even if one is not pure enough even to get deeply into mediating on those pastimes , it may take years and years before one can really meditate on the pastimes and cannot be effected because we’ve been in millions of millions of births what to speak of years in the material world our whole body mind is completely programmed for sexual attraction. By chanting Hare Krishna by developing a little ecstasy in devotional service, like a little drop we can see that there’s another whole spiritual universe of transcendental happiness nothing to do with material body, it’s not dependent at all on the any kind of material situation. The Gopis when they see Krishna, Krishna’s happy they’re in ecstasy inside and When Krishna see that His devotees are happy, he is feeling ecstasy, and all the pastimes are different creations of Krishna and his Yogamaya for just creating unlimited circumstances for exchanging these transcendental loving relationships, not based upon you know just like material senses, there ecstasy in the spiritual world but it’s not dependent on rubbing the skin to…I guess other pieces skin or anything like that, its something on a inconceivable higher spiritual level. So, lord Caitanya wanted to give the information to spread the glories because these things are even enthralling and exciting and amazing for Him, how intricate the relationships are and how ecstatic but to be able to explain them properly so people can understand , people love the, in India people would stay at this rasa Lila Vrindavan people stay up the whole night to watch the rasa Lila, they love to see rasa performed by little children, it’s not a, nothing lusty or anything, it’s something very beautiful you see how, in northern India rasa Lila has become very famous unfortunately a lot of professional groups perform it some better than other, generally little children perform it little boys dressed up as Gopi’s and Krishna and even in south India many people don’t understand what is the rasa Lila what are Krishna’s pastime, here in west people don’t understand how beautiful is the whole culture of Krishna. Many times in India they show a picture of Krishna with Radha and some very lusty kind of a picture Prabhupada was like it’s not, then they’re like portraying them in a like older people in not a beautiful sense and Prabhupada he didn’t like that at all, he was like they don’t have the taste, they painted a pictures of Krishna coming back from the cowherd place and Krishna’s too old, keep Him young, keep the Gopis young 10 or 11 years old 8 years old Krishna this was not. So, in regards to Krishna then Krishna is more pleased when one gives up all other considerations and just surrenders to him as He says in the bhagavat gita

When Lord Caitanya went to the house of Jagadish pandit and Hiranya Pandit and they’re offering a big feast to Krishna and then Jagantha misra came with baby Caitanya and he said how Krishna had…baby Caitanya had said that one and a half two years old said that there’s a big Ekadashi feast being offered in Hiranya Pandits and Jagadish pandits house so he was crying wanting to go there. So, he brought him and then saw there’s hundreds of preparations they’re offering in huge spread before the deity and they just looked at Lord Caitanya and they immediately felt spontaneously attracted, they couldn’t explain, just seeing Lord Caitanya, they were pure devotees, they didn’t know that Lord Caitanya was Krishna, they were…they just wanted to give this offering to Lord Caitanya and he said well Krishna must have in their mind had to think something so they Krishna must’ve been inspired this baby otherwise how he could know that we were offering so they turned around and offered everything to Lord Caitanya which is not according to the Brahmanical thing they should offer it to the deity, it’s like their heart over went their their mind off their rules but in this case because it really was Krishna that their own pure devotion over came whatever rules and regulations there were and by giving the offering to Krishna actually directly they were getting so much mercy. When Krishna and Balaram were hungry and they asked the wives of the brahmana for some food and when they went and asked their husbands, Krishna and Balaram some food they said no no let us finish our yagya here then we can give some you know they gave so many, but then the wives of the brahmana’s thought you know forget our square husbands you know (devotees laugh)Krishna Balarama are hungry even if it’s an offence to our husband let us feed Krishna and Balaram, why should you know and so they risk you know getting chastised by their husband because they are faithful submissive wives and would never disobey their husbands , but they finally couldn’t control themselves to serve Krishna and Balarama, so they cooked the offering and they went and offered it to Krishna and Balarama before the yagya was over and the brahmans were even commenting actually they’re right because we’re stuck here however this yagya actually the supreme Lord is coming here and we’re saying wait till the yagyas finished actually our wives are more advanced than then we are because we are out there doing the mechanical regulative principle and if someone has a spontaneous devotion for Krishna that is something much more elevated that which is something more transcendental then mechanically following ritual so Krishna He forces people to come above this mechanical type of devotion and reverence and come above to a spontaneous level where their natural love for Krishna is brought out in the case of demons their natural hate, he polarizes you know so even the demons get liberation in the presence where they cannot control themselves Aah! Krishna! (Devotees laugh) and the devotees they can’t control either because when Krishna comes they just want to serve Krishna. So, that was the unique amazing thing about Krishna’s pastimes that He is so attractive that he would make people forget, more or less he made them forget the morality if they were you know in *… [not clear 30:38] when Krishna played the flute the yogi’s meditating on the prowess of the super soul in the heart, they hear the flute and they become so mad to be with Krishna that they’d break their mediation start beating their heads against the rocks, pulling their hair where is that sound? What is that doing to my heart! You know Krishna could

play in the heart of every living entity this exactly playing with their heart strings, so that is something which was there for select few great liberated devotees who came down with Krishna who joined from different universes and where integrated In the pastimes of Krishna but now Lord Caitanya wanted to come down and actually distribute that information give people the taste of the same ecstasy for the same loving devotion for Krishna, se rase majiya and just absorb yourself in pure transcendental loving devotion to the Lord which is on a much much higher level, its like people complain just they become perverted I don’t know if it’s a good example of perverted, some people get married then they say actually just married for the money doesn’t really love me, married me because I’m rich you know so a good husband or a good wife but actually you know if they didn’t have money then they’ll split as compared to someone you know attached on a love or something in the material world giving *… [Not clear 31:56] the one kings of degrades his throne to marry some American actress or something this like perverted reflection because its due to material attraction so it’s hard to…but at least they can say one thing His attachment was very strong to give up being a king and everything you  know whether it has any value to it is another thing just in the point of view of attachment just taking that attachments so where as ones attachment more forgotten but just a formal thing halleluiah or whether one is really running madly after God you know trying to actually completely eraptured by his personal qualities I mean that a realm which has never even been exposed I don’t think , I haven’t heard of it, I heard hints that there’s some ascertain Christian sects that are little more intended than this one, but I never got any direct information, I just heard that there might be one group of monks that are trying to…but I don’t know any, I don’t know if it’s true, if it was it would be interesting at least we can show that there is some tradition in Christianity I heard there is a tradition like that but I don’t know anything about it maybe someone can tell me later but this is definitely even in India this is something really special in the world and lord Chaitanya is giving that to the people so we had to also dive in to that ocean give up our desire for simply mundane sense gratification and practice regulated devotional service then eventually we can start to appreciate, we could start to appreciate this higher principle of spiritual life and by the mercy of Nitai Goura we can get a, we can get a drop of that nectar – Kripa Bindu Diya you know as you sing Nitai Pada Kamala there’s also another Nitai Pada Kamal what’s that one giving a drop of your, get a drop of your nectar from your lotus feet it will *… [Not clear 33:45] So, Gopi’s are great devotees some of them were great saints, great yogi’s great whoever else developed the highest type devotion to Krishna so then they were allowed to take birth in Gopi’s bodies or to manifest in the spiritual form of Gopi’s actually they are not material women this is the spiritual for that’s been given because that form is able to reciprocate nicely this type of devotional service with Krishna just like someone might’ve been a mathaji but has a very parental feeling for Krishna and may have manifested form of as like as Nanda Maharaj or something maybe it’s a son in the outside of some young girl feels attracted to see Krishna’s form and maybe initially some impetuous devotional service but it’s not healthy in the long run because it can create offences by bringing in material concepts. In India there’s a group called Sahajiya’s they’re called Sakhi beki and they considered it’s kind of shocking you know, I told this to some devotee they were kind off really amazed to see this because if you go to this temple you know there’s this mathaji doing arti you know when you see the do arti they turn around to offer the ghee wick

they got a big beard, it’s actually a man wearing a saree but chaturmasya they don’t cut their beard you know they don’t have this (devotees laugh) they’re not transvestites you know but what they think is that they want to be a Gopi and serve Krishna so I can start now I’m already practicing so they speak in a falsated voice and wearing sarees and thing and its really…its rejected by the bonafide acaryas because it’s not that Krishna’s attractive by some mundane womanly form there specially when it’s a man dressed up in a saree I mean (devotee laugh) that this is a particular type of devotion when you have that type of devotion and that particular intensity then internally one starts to develop that outlook and when you go back to spiritual world your given that appropriate forum for that type of devotion not that you know someone wants to be mother Yasoda and you know starts wearing a saree, kind of breast feed a doll of Krishna or something necessarily. So you this Sakhi Beki and there’s 13 Upasampradaya who have deviated from Lord Caitanya path, they’re really into these pastimes but what happens is that they start speculating and they just start to concoct things so you get this Gouranga Nagari, Owls, Bowls, and you get this Sakhi Bekhi’s, Sahajiya’s which is instead of…all this things are given and so wow! This is far out! I mean this is really wonderful and that but they want to like jump the gun and just like dive into the pastimes before they…but you can’t storm the gates of heavens so to say you can’t just dive in in that sense, these are…they’re the if we’re attracted we like to understand deeper in a real spiritual way what are these transcendental pastimes but the means is given here by Srila Prabhupada and the in purport themselves that hold on let me just find it in here ‘The erotic principles of amorous love reflected in mixed material values are perverted reflections of the reality of spirit, but one cannot understand the reality unless one is sufficiently educated in the spiritual science.’ Has to be a process of then Prabhupada also  say’s by “executing devotional service under the regulative principles, one can become very highly elevated and then begin to appreciate the dealings of pure love under the management of yogamāyā.” Those under the spell of material energy cannot at all appreciate the activities of Yoga maya for conditioned souls could hardly understand the pure reciprocation between the Lord and His devotee, so the principle authorised is we follow the regulated devotional service and sometimes while we’re doing our regulated devotional service by the special mercy of Nitai Goura and the Guru and Vaisnava some festival days or something we feel little bit of spiritual inspiration coming down from the spiritual world we got little taste of bliss or ecstasy and then you know if we could just like multiply that by trillions and trillions of time unlimited times like a drop compared to ocean than we could understand when we are actually completely liberated in the spiritual form what it’s like to reciprocate direct loving, sentiments and dealings with Krishna without you know, we don’t have a material mind that after a little bit of blissful thoughts merely goes back to the dumps because of so much mundane contamination just like Locana Das Thakura said in spite of all this mercy but my mind you know I’m served by my mind which is not at all attractive soon as we get, leave class the mind wants to go off and think I’ll do this and do that something now, mind you know is really… if our mind would be spiritualized and purified and also attracted then how wonderful it would be so he’s lamenting like that, maybe the mind will catch on , then if the mind is attracted to Krishna consciousness I wouldn’t have to go to hell, I wouldn’t have to suffer so many bad karma, whatever, however the mind would be so blissful, it would be so happy to be absorbed in these ecstatic pastimes and understanding them, mind is the last refuge one of the material

consciousness these are very important verses, very difficult, I don’t…it’s very difficult to explain properly and these pastimes are so wonderful it says it’s like a bird trying to fly up as to its capacity, the sparrow can fly so high, an eagle can fly real high, you could really can fly to the spiritual world according to our capacity we trying to explain these things but Krishna’s not limited buy our ability to explaining, His glories our unlimited to my limited capacity trying to explain it. Any Questions? Bhagavat Bhakti Das spontaneous devotion this is what we want then we can appreciate all these transcendental pastimes directly not just theoretically, (Devotee speaks) if you can bring it down to more succinct question it would be more easy. (devotee speaks)that maybe that some people can actually identify with a particular form of the Lord because they agree with a particular morality or particular qualities of that form that is promoting its own activities, for instance surely that some people don’t understand the pastimes of Krishna that they can easily relate with the pastimes of Lord Rama, which is very correct in terms of morality of acts as a perfect King, one wife and everything is real simple, real straight forward even by material moral standards so lot of people can identify with Rama and they could…Krishna they don’t understand so they try to like avoid just like avoid Krishna then…Gujarat people are devoted to Krishna generally but some Bhalavacarya didn’t give very detail explanation about or didn’t really as far as I understand didn’t give in depth kind of clarification of Krishna’s amorous pastimes and just promoted Pushti Marg which was Krishna as a small baby and generally Krishna’s worshipped in that mood whereas on takes Krishna like my son in the house or following Pushti marg. In south India people don’t understand Krishna so much, they worship Krishna as being expansions of Narayana and many places they mainly focus on Narayana because Lord is more majestic more in a Christian point of view all majestic, all powerful all pervasive, the origin of everything in a very formal aspect that they can relate with it God is like that and He comes down as Krishna and Rama you don’t get into these…well that the Lord, this is like the expansions from him. They understand that way so you find in India people have different conceptions, maybe they accept I don’t know this is an individual matter why someone accepts someone might be  accepting a particular conception because that’s what they’re really devoted to or as you see it maybe because of social consideration that someone is accepting a particular form that he can relate with it that he can understand. If a *latter as a case [Not clear 43:16] was the case Lord Caitanya’s declared purposed is to smash through that, smash through mundane materialistic concepts of morality and regards to absolute truth, that spontaneous devotion prevails over that not Lord Chaitanya was more strict moralist, He wouldn’t allow his brahmacari or anyone if they just went and talked to a women in an improper way he would ban them from his association like Chota Haridas he was very very strict wasn’t that any way permitted anyway Kind of immorality in anyone’s personal life but mundane morality in relation to our devotion to Krishna if that’s an obstacle then he wanted to smash that in relation to Krishna and we shouldn’t be permitted by that Krishna’s God, he is the supreme Lord, we can’t put our mundane morality as a limitation on Krishna. It’s like Krishna can go and steal butter and then give it out to his friends and according to mundane morality no one should steal Krishna owns everything, he can take whatever thing He wants so where the question of theft it’s just a game he is playing to increase pastimes with  his devotees. If the king wants to put up a big drama, he plays a part in a drama but he’s still you know…who’s going to complain right? But When Krishna puts on his drama

he don’t even let the players know it’s a drama they all think it’s for real that s what’s so far out, his out putting on a drama but the drama is eternal and in one sense it is the reality, it is reality, but the players, they don’t see beyond. Krishna can see beyond, he may be playing a part as a little boy but if some demons comes ok he has to adapt to this and if he wants he can then revert back in his Vishnu form, Vishnu consciousness, Vishnu is there to kill demons if they attack and the Vishnu part of Krishna deals with the demons, so he can adapt but you know the devotees they’re just fixed to Krishna he’s my son, he’s lifting up the Govardhan hill and mother Yashoda’s thinking my little boy, you know even for a minute they say well this is pretty amazing how’s he doing that but after a while they forget it (devotees laugh) doesn’t matter anyway. Jaganath Misra was scolding Lord Caitanya in his dream some brahman came in his dream started preaching you don’t know your son is the supreme personality of Godhead how are you yelling at him, how are you scolding him, and finally in the dream he was saying wow really I shouldn’t do that then he woke up he said anyway these dreams, I don’t care who my son is, he’s my son! And I have to see that he is brought up properly, I can’t you know (devotees laugh) Yoga Maya just put him under again you know (devotees laugh) so the pastimes of Lord Caitanya one of that in relation to Krishna we could if it was the case we could Transcend this type of this you may not be able to relate because there some mundane vision but then by chanting and by purification when you can actually can understand how these transcendental pastimes they are you know some people are very attracted to childhood pastimes, they love the little children and so there are more into it you know, maybe haven’t had children yet maybe that will change after having kids (devotees laugh) but that’s not the real (devotees laugh) but that’s not the criteria, it’s not really…I agree with you it’s not really the criterion for what type of devotion we have for Krishna. Somebody send a medal with kids someone isn’t therefore they like or they don’t like the child hood pastimes of Krishna because we may be so covered up with material contamination that we’re not…you can even be a mother of Krishna in the spiritual world but your so covered up that you got to unload you know so many coverings before that real characteristic devotion to Krishna becomes manifested so right no you like and dislike is based on more superficial possibly that you know depends on this persons purifications how pure they are in terms of how covered they are but as we do devotional service we start uncovering then naturally a certain inclinations come yet, it’s possible that one may develop a natural inclination to serve Krishna. There was one big devotee and he would be serving Krishna in the mood like he is a little child and he would go and bath and bring back the food and cook it and sometimes the deity running around in his ashram and he would run after the deity and grab him and take him down to the ocean or river and bath the deity bring back say don’t run around anymore  (Devotees laugh) and he was in a spiritual world you know I mean actually his relationship nothing to do with people what is the person why did he take his deity down and his arms in the river washing (devotees laugh) so than actually Bhaktisidhanta Thakur’s God brother was like that, he was really on a far out platform of devotional service, I don’t know and so sometimes disciples complain what about see only Gaura Kishor das had 2 disciples, Bhaktisidhanta Saraswati who was Ghosti anandi and one Bhajan anandi was liberated whose name was Banksi banan das Babaji and so they asked Banksibanan das Babaji and he said well… he’s a maha bhgavata, he’s liberated, so you can’t judge his activities like

that, they’re beyond you know, there are real devotees that do manifest these far out pastimes with the deity’s or Krishna but then there’s you know for one of those there’s a million bogus things so preachers Bhaktisidhanta said that just try to suppress your emotions try to just keep…because it’s too easy for people to imitate it’s better to not show these things because it’ll be imitated by unscrupulous people to attract the sentiments of simple people and in this way religion will be polluted by irreligiosity and cheating but there are certain devotees on a really just like you know the 6 Goswami’s running in the forest of Vrindavan calling out hey Radhe hey Krishna, forgetting everything just hearing Krishna in some distant tree, they’re to become immersed in the mode of the Gopi’s, sometimes, sometime they were in a very sober stages transcending writ8ing great books (devotee speaks) That is why in the material world externally we’re supposed to try to follow the rules and regulations, so to be good example to others , not there’s many symptoms that’s explained in the Madhya Lila 8/9? 9 of the Caitanya Caritamrita (devotees speak) there any s question from the chapati rollers, go and ask chapati rollers if they have any questions (devotees laugh) Nobody in there? (devotees speak) I mean some materialist gets the Bhagavatam and commits offence he’s better off not getting the Bhagavatam at all, even if he has a misconception, you can’t tell if he is up to something, I mean I hope they read in the purports the things are properly explained (devotees speak) well they’re going to look at the pictures and probably wow this is far out (devotee laugh) might read the book (devotees laugh) I don’t know, it’s not normally our front line book that we distribute but I wouldn’t want to make an offense by saying that, we shouldn’t distribute them because we distribute the Krishna book which also has His pastimes you know Prabhupada explained it in a very carefully (devotees speak) to publish the books we had to publish at least 10,000 volumes each to make it economical, someone has to buy 10,000 (devotees laugh) and if  they purchase the book, if they read the book, they will benefit, some people got, some persons got 12 canto here and then he came back here and wanted to buy all of the books or the small piece we had, maybe someone…I was one time…a newspaper said we’ll do a review of your Caitanya Caritamrita and sell it for a five when its published so I gave him the Antya Lila 5 and Adi Lila 1 then they the two, then they gave it to the Christian priest to do the review and he read the book and he declined said I can’t do it , it’s too heavy (devotees laugh) (devotees speak and laugh) trying to get together (devotees speak) you have to give me some even if they’re *… [not clear 54:00] I can tell what it is your description is (devotees speak) it’s a liar (devotees speak) It’s not a liar (devotee speaks) Swaminarayan past away (devotees speak) maybe we’ll discuss it later someone had any questions? Madhava Nandini, Maha Nandi? Had your hand up before maybe you were scratching ok then------END-------
