The following is an evening address given by His Holiness Jayapatākā Swami Mahārāja on October 14th,2022 in Tirupati, India.
mūkaṁ karoti vācālaṁ paṅguṁ laṅghayate girim
yat-kṛpā tam ahaṁ vande śrī-guruṁ dīna-tāraṇam
paramānandaṁ mādhavaṁ śrī caitanya iśvaram
Hariḥ oṁ tat sat!
Jayapatākā Swami: I am very glad to see Rādhā Govinda dressed up as Bālājī and Āṇḍāl Devī.
They are all Kṛṣṇa’s avatāras.
Rādhārāṇī – they are all Her śaktis.
So They can appear also as Bālājī and Āṇḍāl.
We see many devotees here tonight.
And this is a very special mercy that we can serve Govindajī!
Many people like to pray to Govinda to satisfy their desires.
But material desires mean that we have to take birth again in this material world.
And Kṛṣṇa is very kind, He gives you a chance, but we don’t want this chance.
We want the chance to serve Kṛṣṇa.
And we see like how Padmāvatī, Bālājī, Śrīnivāsa had been married when all the devas were present.
Actually, to be in the Lord’s pastimes is the greatest mercy!
Lord Brahmā, he went to Antardvīpa, to the birthplace of Lord Caitanya.
He began to chant.
Gaurāṅga! Gaurāṅga! Gaurāṅga! Gaurāṅga! Gaurāṅga! Gaurāṅga! Gaurāṅga! Lord Caitanya, Lord Gaurāṅga, He appeared!
He always resides in Navadvīpa-dhāma.
Sometimes He has His prakaṭa-līlā or manifest pastimes and sometimes He has aprakaṭa-līlā or unmanifested pastimes.
Like here, Bālājī always resides.
Sometimes prakaṭa, sometimes aprakaṭa.
Sometimes visible, sometimes not visible.
But when we see the Deity, we feel His presence.
So what did Brahmā ask for?
“I heard that You will be coming in Kali-yuga, please let me be part of Your pastimes.” Who of you want to be present in the Lord’s pastimes?
Lord Caitanya said that His message will be spread all over the world.
pṛthivīte āche yata nagarādi-grāma
sarvatra pracāra haibe mora nāma.
So, how many villages are there in Andhra Pradesh?
There are 90,000 in Bengal. How many here?
how many villages are there in Andhra Pradesh? You don’t know?
70,000.
Telangana – 65,000.
That means 135,000.
How to see that every town and village in Andhra and Telangana are chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa?
That we want to do for Lord Caitanya.
How do you say little? Koncham. When Kṛṣṇa is little satisfied, koncham, for you it will be like overwhelming.
So, Lord Caitanya revealed that loving Kṛṣṇa is the greatest bliss!
He said that material happiness is insignificant.
What is the word? Tuccham.
So, if you get kṛṣṇa-prema, that is a great bliss!
Tears come in your eyes, voice gets choked up, your hairs stand on end, sometimes you shout, sometimes you dance like a mad man, sometimes you faint!
Haribol! Haribol!
Compared to that ecstasy, the material world is tuccham.
So, we want all of you to experience that supreme bliss.
Even Bālājī, He is very happy if everyone becomes a pure devotee.
In this material world people many lakhs try to achieve self-realization ? and one achieves it.
Out of lakhs who achieved it.
Question: Doing 16 rounds, how to increase the quality of the rounds?
Jayapatākā Swami: We know our chanting, our devotional service is not very ideal. We would like to improve the quality.
Śrīla Prabhupāda said you should take maximum, if you are a little experienced, you can do a little faster maybe an hour and a half.
So my thought would be, then I try to chant when I do everything.
Question: Observing the Dāmodara-vrata?
Jayapatākā Swami: You see in the month of Dāmodara, any bhakti we do, we get a 100-times the benefit.
So at least we would like to offer a lamp.
And that is a 100-times.
But if you can do other things no problem.
You distribute one book it is equal to 100 books.
If you distribute one cup of Pongal, it is equal to 100 cups!
One jalebi equal to 100!
Any question from the ladies?
Question: How to remove negative thoughts?
Jayapatākā Swami: Think of positive thoughts!
Just like we see the Deities of Rādhā Govinda Aṣṭa Sakhi, Lord Gaurāṅga, we think of Them.
Question: How do you get rid of darkness?
Jayapatākā Swami: When the sun appears darkness goes.
There is a saying in śāstra,
kṛṣṇa—sūrya-sama, māyā haya andhakāra
yāhāṅ kṛṣṇa, tāhāṅ nāhi māyāra adhikāra
(Cc. Madhya 22.31)
That is why we always recommend chanting.
Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare
Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare
Where did the bad thoughts go?
Chant Hare Kṛṣṇa and be happy!
No negative thoughts!
Hare Kṛṣṇa!
Alright!
