11 Apr 2022|Duration: 00:16:43|English|Public Address|Śrī Māyāpur, India

The following is a Vyāsa Pūjā Adhivāsa Address given by His Holiness Jayapatākā Swami Mahārāja on April 11th, 2022 in Śrī Māyāpur, India.

Jayapatākā Swami: I first of all offer my respectful obeisances to His Divine Grace Śrīla A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupāda. Today as you heard, we observed the adhivāsa. Adhivāsa is a ceremony before a special day on which we offer some special pūjā. So, the adhivāsa is to help us prepare mentally for the serious vratā which is coming. I would like to thank the prabhu who made the book, Milwaukee to Māyāpur. Satyarāja had written many books, but he said he was ordered by Śrīla Prabhupāda to write this book.

Many of you may not know Milwaukee! Milwaukee is a smaller city than Chicago about 100 kms to the north. It cannot be called the smallest city because it is the tenth biggest city in America. I was started there in Milwaukee and I am here in Māyāpur. Haribol! I am very grateful to Lord Prahlāda Narasiṁhadeva, Pañca-tattva, Rādhā-Mādhava aṣṭa-sakhī, Rādhā-Mādhava Māyāpurcandra, Jagannātha, Baladeva, Subhadrā and other Deities that I could reach for the dates in person. Haribol! Now the Deities are being taken, take this opportunity, so we can remember to pray for the devotees from Ukraine, Russia, who have been affected by this war. So let us chant three Hare Kṛṣṇa mantras.

Hare Kṛṣṇa Hare Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa Hare Hare
Hare Rāma Hare Rāma Rāma Rāma Hare Hare!

Hare Kṛṣṇa Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa Hare Hare
Hare Rāma Hare Rāma Rāma Rāma Hare Hare!

Hare Kṛṣṇa Hare Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa Hare Hare
Hare Rāma Hare Rāma Rāma Rāma Hare Hare!

As you heard, Śrīla Prabhupāda asked me to distribute ten thousand big books and one hundred thousand small books every month. So, along with the order comes the empowerment. Also, by tomorrow we should think what we want to pledge for the Temple of Vedic Planetarium. We would like to finish moving the Deities by 2024.

Haribol! So anyway, tomorrow we will have the Vyāsa-pūjā celebration. This has been organized by the disciples. This year is a somewhat special year. Every year, I appear on Ekādaśī. Normally, Ekādaśī we fast from grains, beans and cereals. But this Ekādaśī in Bengal, Bangladesh and parts of South India, on this day there is no fast. The fast is the day after tomorrow.

So tomorrow at noon you have a grain feast. But the day after tomorrow there will be Ekādaśī fast. In Western India, in the Middle East and other places it is a normal Ekādaśī fast. So, this is a unique Ekādaśī for those in Bengal, Bangladesh and some areas in South India. Anyways, this is to inform you why we are having grains tomorrow.

Today I had a GBC meeting from 5 to 6.30. Now there is a Latin American meeting. I am a little late. So, I have to beg your leave. I want to thank all the devotees who did the adhivāsa, who sang the song, and thank you all for coming here.

[Devotees chanting “Haribol”]

Hare Kṛṣṇa!
