Śrī Caitanya-Bhāgavata, Madhya-khaṇḍa 10.263

mukundera stuti-vara śune yei jana
sei mukundera sane haiba gāyana

Translation: Anyone who hears Mukunda’s prayers and the benediction awarded to him will become a singer with him.

Śrī Caitanya-Bhāgavata, Madhya-khaṇḍa 10.264

nigūrha caitanyalīlā-subuddhijana-veda

e saba caitanya-kathā vedera nigūḍha
subuddhi mānaye ihā, nā mānaye muḍha

Translation: These topics of Lord Caitanya are confidential to the Vedas. Intelligent people accept them, whereas fools deny them.

Jayapatākā Swami: These topics of Lord Caitanya are confidential to the Vedas. The very intelligent, they accept this. And who are fools, they do not.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 2.47

aki hore gaurāṅga jaya jaya
henai samaye vaidya mukunda dekhiyā
kahilena—mahāprabhu mucaki hāsiyā

Translation: Seeing the physician Mukunda, Lord Mahāprabhu smiled and said:

Jayapatākā Swami: All glories to Lord Gaurāṅga! At that time, He called the doctor, Mukunda. Mahāprabhu smiled and said:

Murāri Gupta Kaḍaca 2.4.12

tataḥ provāca bhagavān mukundāmbaṣṭham agrataḥ
sthitaṁ prekṣya tvayā kiṁ nu brahma-vidyā nijocyate

Translation: Then the Lord spoke to the physician Mukunda, who was standing in His presence, “Do you give consent to the brahma-vidyā?”

Caitanya Carita Mahā Kāvya 6.35

atrāntare sva-purataḥ sthitam atyudāraṁ
proce mahā-karuṇa eṣa mukunda-dattam
brahmeti kiṁ nu bhavatātra nirūpyate tad
itthaṁ nigadya ca papāṭha punaḥ svayaṁ saḥ

Translation: After this, the greatly merciful Lord then spoke to generous Mukunda Datta in front of him. “How do you define brahman?”

Saying this, he began to recite a verse.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 2.48

tumi nāki brahmavidyā māna-ihā śuni
bhāla ta mukundadatta tomāre bākhāni

Translation: I have heard that You value brahma-vidyā? Well, O Mukunda Datta, I will now explain that truth to you.

Jayapatākā Swami: Now I have heard, that you value brahma-vidyā. Oh good. So Mukunda Datta, listen, I will explain to you.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 2.49

ihā bali’ ei śloka parhila ṭhākura
śunite sabhāra hiẏā kare duradura

Translation: Speaking these words, the Lord recited a verse. Their hearts beating quickly, everyone listened.

Jayapatākā Swami: Saying these words, the Lord read a śloka, and everybody listened very carefully. Their hearts were beating intensely.

Murāri Gupta Kaḍaca 2.4.13

ity uktvā sa papāṭhedaṁ ślokaṁ svayam arindamaḥ
śrī-rāma-nāma-māhātmyaṁ gūḍha-vedārtha-saṅgraham

Translation: After saying this, the Lord, subduer of the foe, recited the following verse which establishes the glory of the illustrious name of Rāma. This verse is a confidential summary of Vedic truth:

Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Madhya-līlā, 9.29

The Below verse is quoted in the above scriptures which is originally found in the Padma Purāṇa.

ramante yogino ‘nante
satyānande cid-ātmani
iti rāma-padenāsau
paraṁ brahmābhidhīyate

Translation: “The Supreme Absolute Truth is called Rāma because the transcendentalists take pleasure in the unlimited true pleasure of spiritual existence.’

Purport: This is the eighth verse of the Śata-nāma-stotra of Lord Rāmacandra, which is found in the Padma Purāṇa.

Jayapatākā Swami: This verse is quoted by four different śāstras, Padma Purāṇa.

“The Supreme Absolute Truth is called Rāma because the transcendentalists take pleasure in the unlimited true pleasure of spiritual existence.’

This is the eighth verse of the Śata-nāma-stotra of Lord Rāmacandra, which is found in the Padma Purāṇa.

Murāri Gupta Kaḍaca 2.4.15

punaḥ proktaṁ bhagavatā taṁ vaidyam anuśāsatā
catur-bhujasya yad dhyānaṁ tad varaṁ parikīrtitam

Translation: Again the Lord spoke, chastising the physician Mukunda, “You have declared that meditation on the four-armed form of the Lord is best.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 2.51

tabe punaḥ bhagavān sei gaurahari
vaidyere kahila kichu anugraha kari’

Translation: Then Lord Gaura-Hari again mercifully said to the physician Mukunda:

Jayapatākā Swami: Thus, Lord Gaurahari, mercifully said to the physician, Mukunda, the following.

Caitanya Carita Mahā Kāvya 6.37

bhūyo’pi taṁ samanuśiṣya jagāda nāthaḥ
kiicit krudhādhara-dala-dvaya-kampitena
rūpaṁ caturbhujam atīva-varaṁ tato’nyan
nyūnaṁ kiyad dvibhujam ity ayi kiṁ mataṁ te

Translation: Teaching him again, the Lord spoke with his lips twitching in anger. “The four armed form of the Lord is supreme. The two armed form is somewhat inferior. What is your opinion?

Murāri Gupta Kaḍaca 2.4.16

dvi-bhujasya tu yad dhyānam tan nyūnam iti te matam
parameśvara-bhedena kevalaṁ duḥkham eva hi

Translation: You consider meditation on His two-armed form inferior. By such differentiation between the forms of the Supreme Lord, you can certainly attain only grief.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 2.52

caturbhuja bhajana tumi bara kari māna
dvibhuja dhyeyāne tora alapa geyāna

Translation: You think worship of four-armed of the Lord is the best worship. You have very little knowledge of meditating on two-armed form

Jayapatākā Swami: You think that the worship of the Lord with four hands is superior. And the Lord with two hands, meditating on the form of the Lord with two hands, you don’t have much knowledge.

Murāri Gupta Kaḍaca 2.4.17

yady ātmano hitaṁ vetsi tadā yatna-puraḥsaram
dvi-bhuja-dhyānam eva tvaṁ kuru sarva-phala-pradam

Translation: “If you understand the actual welfare of the spirit-soul, then you should meditate on the Lord’s two-armed form with intense endeavor, and this will endow you with all desired benefits.”

Caitanya Carita Mahā Kāvya 6.38

yady ātmanor hitam avaiṣi tadā parasmāt
tad dvaibhujyaṁ varam iti pratikīrtaya tvam
śrutvaiṣa tan nigaditaṁ karuṇā-vilāsi
bhūmau nipatya nijagāda saharṣa-śaṅkam

Translation: “If you desire your benefit, then you should proclaim that the two armed form is best.” Hearing what the Lord said out of his mercy, Mukunda fell on the ground and spoke with joy and fear.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 2.53

sakala sampada cāha āpanāra hita
dvibhuja bhajaha kṛṣṇe majāiyā cita

Translation: If you want to obtain real wealth, you should worship the beautiful two-armed form of Sri Krishna with all your heart.

Jayapatākā Swami: To your benefit if you want all real treasure, all wealth, then you should worship the two-handed form of Kṛṣṇa, with all your heart.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 2.54

kṛṣṇera prakāśa nārāyaṇa’—śāstre kahe
nārāyaṇa haite kṛṣṇa -hena vākya nahe

Translation: The sastras say that Nārāyaṇa is a manifestation of Krishna; not that Krishna comes from Nārāyaṇa.

Jayapatākā Swami: Nārāyaṇa is the expansion of Lord Kṛṣṇa. It is stated by all the scriptures. That Kṛṣṇa comes from Nārāyaṇa, is not to be found anywhere.

Murāri Gupta Kaḍaca 2.4.18

provāca taṁ devaṁ mukundo namra-kandharaḥ
gaurāṅga-caraṇāmbhoja-madhupo gāyakottamaḥ

Translation: Then Mukunda, that best among singers, who was like a bee tasting the honey at the lotus feet of Gaurāṅga, replied to the Lord with his head bowed submissively:

Murāri Gupta Kaḍaca 2.4.19

snātaṁ mayā sura-nadī-payasi prakāmaṁ
śrī-vaiṣṇavāṅghri-rajasāṅgam alaṅkṛtaṁ ca
tvat-pāda-padma-vara-chatram amuṁ mayādya
mūrdhni prayaccha kuru dāsya-pade’bhiṣekam

Translation: “I have bathed to my heart’s content in the waters of the sura-nadī, and my body is decorated with the dust from the feet of Śrī Vaiṣṇavas. Now today kindly bestow the beautiful umbrella of Your lotus feet on my head, and by performing an abhiṣeka with Your foot-dust, please make me as Your servant.”

Caitanya Carita Mahā Kāvya 6.39

snātaṁ mayā sura-nadī-payasi prakāmaṁ
śrī-vaiṣṇavāṅghri-rajasāṅgam alaṅkṛtaṁ ca
śrīman tvadīya-pada-padma-yugātapatraṁ
mūrdhni prayaccha kuru dāsya-pade’bhiṣekam

Translation: “I bathed plentifully in the waters of Gaṅgā and my limbs are ornamented with the dust from devotees’ feet. Please place the umbrella of your lotus feet on my head. Make me your servant.”

Jayapatākā Swami: Murari Gupta hearing the words of Viśvambhara, he bowed down and surrendered. He asked for the Lord’s lotus feet on his head. So, he wanted to accept what the Lord was saying. This is repeated in different books.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 2.55

aichana karuṇa-vāṇī kahe viśvambhara
śuniñā sādara vaidya praṇatakandhara

Translation: Lord Viśvambhara spoke these kind words. Hearing them, the physician Mukunda respectfully bowed his neck and said:

Jayapatākā Swami: So, hearing this merciful message of the Lord, spoken by Lord Viśvambhara, hearing these words, Mukunda Datta, the physician bowed down his head, and said.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 2.56

suranadī-jale snāna kari’ karom kāma
vaiṣṇava-caraṇa-dhūli prasādapradhāna

Translation: I have bathed in the Gaṅga and then obtained the dust of the Vaiṣṇavas’ feet as the greatest mercy.

Jayapatākā Swami: So, I have bathed in the Ganges. And then I received the dust of the lotus feet of the Vaiṣṇavas, as the greatest of all mercies.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 2.57

tora pādapadma mora śire rahu chatra
dāsya-abhiṣeka kara—ei cāhom mātra

Translation: Let Your lotus feet be an umbrella placed over my head. Please bathe me in a shower of service to You. That is my only wish.

Jayapatākā Swami: Please bless me with Your lotus feet on my head, which are like an umbrella. Give me lots of devotional service as an abhiṣeka. This is all I want!

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 2.58

āmi ki jāniye prabhu nija bhāla-manda
nirantara antare bāhire mandha-andha

Translation: O Lord, how can I know what is good and what is bad? Within and without I am like a drunken blind man.

Jayapatākā Swami: What do I know my Lord, what is good and what is bad, within and without? I am like a drunken, blind man.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 2.59

nijaguṇe karuṇā karaha prabhu yabe
nijadāsye prasāda karaha more tabe

Translation: O Lord, please be merciful to me. Please mercifully give the gift of being able to render service to You.

Jayapatākā Swami: O Lord, please be merciful on me, out of Your own qualities. Please give me Your own devotional service, as a mercy.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 2.60

tumi sarveśvareśvara vigraha ānanda
sei nandasuta tumi avatārakanda

Translation: You are the Supreme Personality of Godhead, the master of all masters. Your form is made of transcendental bliss. You are Lord Kṛṣṇa. You are the root from where all the avatāras have sprouted.”

Jayapatākā Swami: You are the Supreme Personality of Godhead, the Lord of all Lords, and the form of transcendental bliss! You are Lord Kṛṣṇa, the son of Nanda Mahārāja, from where all the avatāras are coming.

Murāri Gupta Kaḍaca 2.4.20

evaṁ niśamya tad-vākyaṁ tasya mūrdhni padāmbujam
dattavān bhagavāṁs tuṣṭaḥ sa-harṣo’bhūt tadaiva saḥ

Translation: Upon hearing these words, the Lord became pleased and bestowed His lotus feet on the head of Mukunda, who then became very jubilant.

Caitanya Carita Mahā Kāvya 6.40

evaṁ niśamya karuṇā-rasa-pūrṇa-cetās
tad vāk-sudhā-pramuditena tataḥ pareśaḥ
śrīmat-padāmbuja-yugaṁ nija-lokanātham
asyādadhāc chirasi pūtatame prasannaḥ

Translation: Hearing this, his heard full of compassion, the supreme Lord, the master of the devotees pleased by his sweet words, pleased by his purity, placed His two divine lotus feet, on his head.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 2.2.61

e bola śuniñā prabhu antara-santoṣe
pada-aravinda tāra mastake paraśe

Translation: Hearing these words, Lord Gaura became satisfied at heart. With His lotus foot He touched Mukunda’s head.

Jayapatākā Swami: Hearing these words of Mukunda, Lord Gaura, He became satisfied inside. He put His lotus feet, He touched His lotus feet to the head of Mukunda. You see, why it says that these things are confidential to the Vedas. This shows some personal dealings of Kṛṣṇa, which may not be explained in such detail, in the ordinary Vedas. You see how merciful the Lord is, how compassionate He is with His devotees, and who wouldn’t want to serve such a Master, who is so compassionate, so merciful! Hare Kṛṣṇa!

Murāri Gupta Kaḍaca 2.4.21

romāicita-tanur dhīmān aśru-pūrṇa-vilocanaḥ
tato murāriṁ provāca bhagavān ambujekṣaṇaḥ

Translation: The body of that intelligent man became covered by ecstatic pulakas and his eyes filled with tears. The lotus-eyed Lord then addressed Murāri:

Caitanya Carita Mahā Kāvya 6.41

romāñca-saicaya-samaicita-deha-yaṣṭir
niryad-vilocana-payojhara-vṛnda-dhautaḥ
tat pāda-paṅkaja-yugasya tadaiva labdhvā
sparśaṁ babhūva ka ivātiśayotsukātmā

Translation: Attaining the touch of his lotus feet, Mukunda, full of enthusiasm, with hairs standing on end, became covered in tears streaming from his eyes.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 2.2.62

sarvāṅge pulaka bhela-sajala locana
gadagada-bhāsa vaidya premāra lakṣaṇa

Translation: At that moment the hairs on every limb of Mukunda’s body stood erect. Tears filled his eyes. His voice became choked with emotion. In this way the physician Mukunda manifested প্রেমার লক্ষণ

Jayapatākā Swami: So, all over his body, Mukunda’s hairs were standing on end. And his eyes were profusely crying. His voice became choked up and the physician Mukunda, showed different symptoms of love of Lord Kṛṣṇa.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 2.2.63

gadagadasvare stava karila vistara
jaya mahāmaheśvara kāraṇera para

Translation: With a voice choked with emotion he spoke many prayers. He said: O Supreme Personality of Godhead, O master of all masters, O first cause of all causes, all glories to You!”

Jayapatākā Swami: With his hoarse voice choked up with emotion, he spoke more prayers, “All glories to the Supreme Personality of Godhead, the cause of all cause, all glories to You!”

Murāri Gupta Kaḍaca 2.4.22-24

kathaṁ tvaṁ kṛtavān vaidya gītam adhyātma-tat-param
jīvite yadi vāichāsti premni vā te hareḥ spṛhā

tadā gītaṁ parityajya kuru ślokaṁ hareḥ svayam
tac chrutvā prāha taṁ devaṁ vinayena bhiṣak sudhīḥ

śrīman-nārāyaṇo nāma guptaḥ snehārṇavaṁ gurum
yathā tavāvatāro’yam vaktum arhati sāmpratam

Translation: “O physician, why have you compiled Adhyātma-gītā? Now, if you have a desire to live, and if you have a desire to attain love for Hari, then completely putting aside the Gītā, just compose a verse from your heart about Hari.” Hearing this, the intelligent physician named Nārāyana Gupta modestly replied to the Lord, who had appeared as a guru and whose affection is like an ocean: “Because Your avatāra (in the form of a devotee) is this Murārī, it is befitting that You instruct him so that he can speak about You.

Caitanya Carita Mahā Kāvya 6.42-43

bhūyo jagāda karuṇaika-nidhir murāriṁ
śrī-gauracandra idam udbhaṭa-bhāva-ramyaḥ

ādhyātmikaṁ kim u kṛtaṁ na tavāsti gītaṁ
satyaṁ vadāśu tad idaṁ yadi vā kṛtaṁ bhoḥ

vāichāsti cet tava jīvitam eva kiṁ vā
premodayeṣu tad idaṁ capalaṁ vihāya
śrīmat-kṛpā-rasa-paripluta-pāda-padma-
māhātmya-rūpa-guṇa-varṇam ātanuṣa

Translation: Gauracandra, the ocean of mercy, attractive with manifested bhāva, spoke to Murārī. “Have you performed ādhyātmika (impersonal jiāna) practices? Are you not glorified for this? If you have done this, please tell the truth immediately. If you desire to live with the manifestation of prema, then give up this fickleness and distribute descriptions of the qualities, form and glories of the beautiful lotus feet of the Lord filled with merciful rasa.”

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 2.2.64

tabe sei mahāprabhu viśvambhara hari
kahite lāgilā kichu dekhiyā murāri

Translation: Glancing at Mukunda, Lord Mahaprabhu Viśvambhara Hari said:

Jayapatākā Swami: So, Lord Viśvambhara Hari, Mahāprabhu, glancing at Mukunda, spoke the following words.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 2.2.65

śuna śuna ahe vaidya āmāra vacana
era gītā-adhyātma caracā tora mana

Translation: O physician, please listen. Listen to My words. In your heart you chew and chew the spiritual message of Adhyātma-gīta.

Jayapatākā Swami: “O physician, please listen to My words. You deliberate in your heart the spiritual message of the Adhyātma-gīta.”

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 2.2.66-67

jīvāra vāsanā yadi thākaye tomāra
kṛṣṇapremānande yadi icchā thāke āra

adhyātma-caracā tabe kara parityāga
guṇasaṅkīrtana kara kṛṣṇe anurāga

Translation: If you wish to live and if you yearn to attain the bliss of pure love for Lord Kṛṣṇa, then give up adhyātma-carcā. Chant the names and qualities of Kṛṣṇa.

Jayapatākā Swami: “So, if you desire to live, if you want to have the bliss of pure love of Kṛṣṇa, then give up the deliberation on the Adhyātma-gīta and simply engage in the congregational chanting of the qualities of Kṛṣṇa.”

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 2.2.68-69

naṭavaraśekhara sundara śyāmatanu
indranīlamaṇikānti kare bara-veṇu

pītāmbaradhara vanamālā yāra gale
se prabhuke nāhi bhaja gopīgaṇa-mele

Translation: whose garments are yellow, whose neck is adorned with a garland of forest flowers, and who is surrounded by a host of gopis.”

Jayapatākā Swami: “Instead, worship the beautiful form of Lord Syāma, who is the best of all the dancers. Who has a bodily luster of a sapphire, and who plays on the flute. He wears yellow garments and He wears a forest flower garland on His neck. Worship that Lord, who is surrounded by many gopīs.”

So, we can see that, yesterday I was asked what is the problem with listening to the Śrī Vaiṣṇavas? Of course, Śrī Vaiṣṇavas are one of the four Vaiṣṇava sampradāyas, mentioned in the Padma Purāṇa. But they tend to think that the four handed four of Viṣṇu, of Nārāyaṇa is the source of Kṛṣṇa. But that is not mentioned in any śāstra. Actually, Nārāyaṇa is the expansion of Kṛṣṇa. So, if one wants love of Kṛṣṇa, then he should worship the two-handed form of Kṛṣṇa. But there is no difference in one sense, from Kṛṣṇa and His expansions. But here, Lord Caitanya is prescribing that if one wants to have love of Kṛṣṇa, they should worship Kṛṣṇa. And Sri Vaiṣṇavas will not help in that.

So, while you get your questions ready, I want to say something, which would educate you on the corona virus. As you know this virus has come from the animals. Because people were eating animals. Recently, someone presented a video that all of the recent, in this century, the different viruses which have produces pandemics amongst humankind, are due to some mistreatment of the animals, and eating of different kinds of animals. Swines, cows, chimpanzees, snakes, bats, you name it! But the problem is that once it comes into the human society, it doesn’t necessarily differentiate from Vaiṣṇavas and non Vaiṣṇavas. So, local authorities and the government are trying to safeguard the citizens.

You see this novel corona virus has some special qualities. It doesn’t show symptoms necessarily up to 14 days. So, someone may be carrying the corona virus, without any symptoms. So, recently in Nizamuddin, Delhi there was an Islamic gathering of 1400 people. And one person was positive. So, somehow, 44 people or 24 or something people proved positive, and the rest were put in quarantine. Recently two devotees in Nagpur proved positive. I didn’t get it confirmed yet, but we heard that the temple was closed and they don’t even allow the pujaris to perform the deity worship.

So, this virus, if someone coughs, it goes in the air 1 meter away. But it only stays for maybe for 20 or 30 seconds because it is heavy, it falls down. Therefore, they are saying for us to stay 1.5 to 2 meters away. But when it hits a hard surface, it stays alive for three days. Normally viruses would die after a minute or few seconds. But this virus stays alive for many days. So, say you touch a place which has the virus and your hand has the virus. You touch your mouth, your nose, your eyes, then you get it. That is why they are saying that don’t touch your face and repeatedly wash your hands. Because, unknowingly you may touch a place which has the virus and that virus is on your hand and then if you touch your face, it goes into your system and then you have it. So that is why we have this social distancing, hand washing.

If you wear a mask, then outside the mask may have some virus. When you take off the mask, you should not touch the outside of it. You should touch the ear part. So, all these things, it is just like śuci. If someone spits that is contaminated. You touch that, you have to take a bath for doing deity worship. In the same way, this virus easily transmits if we are not careful. And we don’t want our temple to closed down. Some of the communities like in Gaura Nagara or something, if one person shows up positive. Kṛṣṇa forbid, they will close of the whole community. In Mumbai several communities have been closed down. But some of the devotees they are meeting together in the house and they are chanting. The point is that each family can chant in their house. But if people come from outside and join in, it is very dangerous! One person has it, even if he doesn’t have it, he touches a place that has it, that virus can be taken by someone else. Therefore, the government is saying that we should not congregate outside of our family. So, these things are for our protection. So that we can have a quick resolution, we want to encourage everyone to chant Hare Kṛṣṇa, but in the meantime we should also follow the precautions. So, I just wanted to mention this. Because many don’t understand, why we have to wash our hands. And unfortunately, I cannot keep much social distancing. So the devotees that serve me are observing some kind of protocol. But we want to protect all the devotees in the community. And there is no treatment, and no vaccine for this disease. We heard that some Spanish lady gargled every twenty minutes for 5 days.
