His Holiness Jayapatākā Swami: It’s very important to understand that only The Supreme Personality of Godhead is completely independent.

In this world independence is a big buzz word. It’s a favorite theme people strive for. But nobody is independent, completely, except for Kṛṣṇa. He is actually free to do whatever He wants. Everyone else is under the various laws of the nature that they are in.

In this material world there are stringent laws that govern everything we do. The material nature is much more powerful than any living entity. So, everything we do we have to take the reaction and energies of The Lord are under The Lord's power.

He explains how, in Brahmā Saṁhitā it explains how Durgā acts just as a shadow following the will of The Lord. I mean just like if we move our hand then the shadow will move with it. Like that however Kṛṣṇa desires the material energy will act accordingly. She is not independent.

Similarly, everyone is either a part of Kṛṣṇa or a part of a part of Kṛṣṇa.  Nobody is a totally independent except for Kṛṣṇa.

Actually, Ishwara Kṛṣṇa are sarvavritta. He is the only Lord, everyone else is His servitor. Even His expansions carry out His desires.

For the sake of pastimes, He gives everyone a minute independence. That means within a certain perimeter they are allowed to decide things for themselves. It’s not a total independence. But some partial independence is there, which is known as the free will.

So, in exercise of our free will we have come here in this material world. So, we made a wrong turn and now when you make a wrong turn then we have to turn around and go the right way, if you want to get to your destination. So, it’s like that once you realize you made a wrong turn, now what do you do, it's alright, turn around, let's go back.

So, Kṛṣṇa consciousness is for those people who have realized that this material world was a wrong turn. This is a dead-end road, dead end, you should pull the socks. Sometime when you take a short cut you turn in a road and you find out there's no exit, turn around and come back. (GM speak something in Polish), It's a dead-end road. There's no exit, except to go back to the spiritual world. Now The Lord He is still all opulence’s, including all the yoga perfections.

Some yogis they have this perfection a little bit. The Lord has an unlimited capacity. Say that here now in Poland is fruit from various parts of the world being imported.

Oranges and banana, they don't grow in Poland do they. So haa? they grow?

Bananas grow here?

So where does the bananas come from? Equador (one devotee replies). Equador (devotees laugh). So, in order to get from Equador to Poland it has to go to severals the many thousands of kilometers, distance, isn't it?

So, they have to send the bananas green and let them ripe them in the boat. When they are in the tempo in Equador, I came there the whole tempo front was tilt with tons and tons and tons of bananas. But they were all green. So, what's this?

They said said there was some problem at with the boat and it couldn't leave in time so they calculated that by the time the bananas would reach they would all be rotten. So, they said any religious organization, they can have free banana many as they want. So, they picked up a few truck loads and they had food for life program-banana chutney, banana everything (devotees laugh loudly).

So, the material life to go from this place to this place you have to go though the space in between.

One of the siddhis is prāpti siddhi, prāpti, one of the eight siddhis is called prāpti siddhi. SIDDHI.

You go from this place to this place without going in the space in between. But I am cheating, but the actual person who are showing their prāpti siddhi they can move something from here to here without going to the space in between. That breaks normal laws of physics. Because it goes to from here to here goes to another dimension. Leaves this dimension here and comes back into the dimension over here, in higher dimension there is no thing as space. These are all kind of complicated concepts. But these are, these actually the reality. For us who are on the external plane, we are forced to work within the laws of physical laws. But those who can go in the different dimension and they can do amazing things.

What’s amazing for us, for them it’s just ordinary thing because they know all the different higher dimensional laws. So, they put up a [00:14:47] he is a said that actually there are many scientific evidences showing this phenomenon in the world. Scientists called it the portergized phenomenon.

Where some material object would suddenly appear out of the air coming from somewhere else and appear here. They don't have an explanation how that can happen. But according to the Vedic higher dimensional sciences it's is not difficult to explain. But ordinary people they are not able to work with higher dimension, only very great personalities have this ability.

Since Lord Viṣṇu  is the creator of all the dimensions, He knows how to manipulate everything in all the different directions. So, He can do everything within the natural laws, He can do things which are totally beyond natural law. Another one of the siddhi is Anima. This is mentioned here aṇimādyair, anima, mahima, the first of the eight is anima. Anima means becoming smaller than the smallest. Mahima means expand your size and become bigger than the biggest. Lord.. aa bhakta Hanuman he also was also given a blessing of 8 mystic powers from his birth.

But as a baby he was flying to the outer space. He wanted to play with the moon.  It is like a little child he says O I want a moon; mummy give me the moon. Lord Chaitanya He did that one time, He was crying and crying and mother Śacī picked Him and said what's wrong?

Please stop crying, I will give you whatever you want. Baby Nimāi said, alright I want the moon, I want the moon. You see the moon holding in the sky, maybe from the vision of a child it looks O I can just take the moon. It looks so small in the sky.

But practically nobody can give the moon. Moon is so big.

So, mother Śacī, she was in trouble. You promised me, you are going to give me the moon, I want the moon, you said you are giving me whatever I want, I want the moon, give me the moon (GM cries like a child).

This time there was a cloud over the moon. Mother Śacī, see the moon is ashamed because your face is more brilliant than a million moons. Therefore, the moon is hiding its face behind the cloud in front of your moonlike face. So, what is the moon for you. Moon has so many marks on its face, you have no mark on your face.

Nitāi Gaur premānande! (devotee chant Hari Hari bol).

So, Hanuman he was given a mystic power as a child and he flew up to the moon, to play with the moon.

In fact, it was very difficult for Hanuman's mother, she didn't have the eight powers. You can imagine your son has all the eight mystic powers and you don't, how you are going to control him. Hanuman being very playful it was very potentially dangerous playing around with the moon and the sun.

So, then the devas figured that this not the time for Hanuman to have the mystic powers. Once he has them, we can't take them away, so we don't want to take them away, so then it is what we will do is so make him forget how to use them.  So they covered his memory but their mystic power say you'd forget how to use his mystic power.

So, until Hanuman met Ramchandra he didn't know he had all these mystic powers, he forgot about them.

When he went looking for Sītā and then he was told that Sītā was in Lanka which is across the ocean and he didn't know how to cross the ocean. So that time, it was revealed to him. Now that he was mature and responsible that he had all mystic powers and forgetfulness was taken away from him. So that he would be able to serve Lord Ram using those mystic powers.

So, then he could fly over the ocean to go to Lanka. So, as he was flying over the ocean big demon came in trying to block his way. The demon became very big to block Hanuman's path. Hanuman became bigger, the demon became bigger, Hanuman got bigger, the demon got bigger, Hanuman got even bigger and then the demon got bigger bigger. Then Hanuman he used his Anima siddhi and he became very small went around, shhhhich went to Lanka and the the demon where did he go, where did he go, couldn't see Hanuman any more.

So that's a good example of how anima and mahima siddhis works.

Sri Sri Gaura Nitāi ki jai.

People in this world they naturally (not sure) are very impressed by the mystic powers. But then one has to show mystic powers to convince people of philosophy mean then the faith is very superficial. There is very little realization.

So, its recommended that to preach without having to show the mystic powers. Although everybody will just ask can we see another trick, you know can we see another.  There are some famous sadhus in India who show magical tricks and their followers they attracted because of these tricks. It’s not sure whether actually they have mystic powers or they just using flight of hand magic.

Also, there are many levels of these powers. By black magic you can get these powers in a very small quantity. Not all of them but some of the things you can get. Or you can create illusions. But by, but the yogis they got a much greater quantity.

The devas they also have these powers to a certain degree. But nobody has all the powers to the degree that Viṣṇu  has. Kṛṣṇa is able to do all kinds of mystical things unlimitedly. Like changing His form, any form that He wants.

One time the gopī’s were looking for Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa was sitting in a ratha and He saw that O they spotted me, how do I hide now. So, He took four handed Viṣṇu  form. So then the gopī’s  said O it’s not Kṛṣṇa its only Viṣṇu .

Namo Nārāyaṇa, they offered the obeisance’s, Narayan could you tell us where is Lord Kṛṣṇa, where is our dear Kṛṣṇa.  He was pointing like that. Everyone came, offered the obeisance’s and then they went.

But then, when Rādhārāṇī came, her love was so intense that Kṛṣṇa could not keep His Viṣṇu form. Two arms kept disappearing. In this way He got revealed. Kṛṣṇa can change His form in any way He wants. And nobody can conquer Kṛṣṇa. But Kṛṣṇa allows Himself to be conquered by love. He reciprocates with that love.

Rādhārāṇī had so much love for Kṛṣṇa that Kṛṣṇa, He could help but reciprocate with it. So, all parts of the material world they are all worshiping these Viṣṇu forms. The maha-tattva is the basic building ingredients for the universe.

Prabhupad makes example what's the difference between Viṣṇu 's creation and Brahmā 's creation. Lord Viṣṇu creates the raw ingredients for the whole universe, the raw ingredients, Viṣṇu. Just like to build the house you need brick, sand, cement, steel, these are the raw materials. Or you can create roads (not sure) then you can create other types of raw materials.

So, The Lord He creates these raw ingredients. He gives intelligence to Brahmā to combine them and create different manifestations. But if He didn't create the raw things the regional energies, then Brahmā couldn't do anything. The architect can combine the different structural parts, then he can create buildings with different designs aspects. So, every opulence we see is all but a part of the potency of Kṛṣṇa. He has all the opulence.

Guru Maharaj speaks in polish language (devotees laugh). Polish language is filled with opulence of many letters that have 'S'.

So, Kṛṣṇa He has got all the opulence’s. Now they are having the, I don't know they are still having but they were having I. Around this time some big athletic competition in Sweden, European athletics.

Someone wanted to break the world record and jump 19 meters, long jump.  I mean Hanuman he jumped, you see he had mystic power, he can jump unlimited. So, all these things only relevant if people around are the same level of conditioning.

So, when people realize in ancient India that they were these higher capacities possible then instead of working so hard to do, to jump an extra centimeter or to run a hundred-meter dash in an extra hundredth of a second. They were considering how to go to other planets, using mystic powers, how to understand what is the self. So, using the physical means one can achieve mystic powers by the eight-fold yoga system, using physical means, by practicing the hatha yoga, ashtanga yoga system.

Eight-fold mystic yoga system. One's able to get the mystic powers the effort the people put in to to become Olympic stars, if that effort was put in to becoming qualified yogis, they could achieve much greater things and actually come closer to understanding what is the purpose of life.

For the bhakti yogis they consider what is the use of all these mystic powers. These are after all material and they don't, they are actually not outside of the material world. These mystic powers are within the material world. Outside of the material world then there such totally other reality. But these mystic powers are everybody has and they have many other features which are beyond our imagination.

Now the devotees they see what's more important is actually to have the relationship with Kṛṣṇa. So, they engage in pure devotional service without any other motive but to serve Kṛṣṇa.

So, Lord Chaitanya said "mukti-bhukti--siddhi-kami—sakali asanta" those who want mystic powers, who want to get material sense gratification or liberation, they are all unpeaceful, liberation. "mukti-bhukti-siddhi-kami—sakali asanta, krsna-bhakta—niskama, ataeva ‘santa’".

But the pure devotees of Kṛṣṇa are without any other desires, therefore they are peaceful. Devotees want to serve Kṛṣṇa, they want to and they achieve serving Kṛṣṇa purely by serving Kṛṣṇa. So, they don't have any duality. But others they want to achieve one thing and which is different from what they are doing. So, they are always disturbed and unhappy, dissatisfied with the situation.

Therefore, even beyond all this mystic power is the path of devotion. For devotees’ mystic power also can also come without asking. Normally the devotees they don't reveal these, even if they have it.

There is a story of Rasikānanda, disciple of Shyamananda pandit. He was preaching at Remuṇā at the temple of kheer chor Gopinath.

One day the villagers came and when he was brushing his teeth in the morning using a wooden toothbrush. It was early in the morning he got up, he is brushing his teeth and the villagers came running in, excited.

Gurudev, gurudev you have to look at, look at, there is a yogi at the village flying around on a tree, flying in the air. He is brushing, this is not important. O but he is actually flying. I told this not important. And all the villager they came no no jai gurudev you should see he is sitting on the branch and he is flying. So many, they are all getting excited look at look at flying flying.

Rasikānanda was very bored, he said this is not important, these things, Rasikānanda. He took his wooden toothbrush in his mouth, put it under his legs, put it between his legs, then shooo started flying around the ashram, everyone was looking you know, I told you these things are not important, if they were important i would have told you before. They came, he came down (not sure) for the landing, [00:41:42] not important. Jai Gurudev.

One-time devotee was saying how one of the mystic powers is to know what others are thinking. One devotee was walking along behind Prabhupad and was thinking you know I wonder whether Prabhupad he wants, I forget what he was thinking, he was thinking something about whether Prabhupad something what Prabhupad wanted to do or something.

Prabhupad turned around and said no I don't want to do that. And he said exactly what was I thinking was I don't want to do these things and then he turned around and walked off. I'll get all the details.

Jai Prabhupa, he wouldn't reveal anything but maybe sometime because then people get preoccupied with the mystic powers. But it’s much more important to develop love for Kṛṣṇa. Although because he is independent, sometimes even devotees are not able to influence, independent.

There is a devotee, Mukunda Dutta, very dear devotee of Lord Chaitanya, lead kirtan singer.

Every day he be chanting for the Lord in his personal kirtan party. During so many personal services for The Lord. So, most of the day he would be spending with Lord Chaitanya. Lord Chaitanya told him many time not to listen to the classes of māyāvādī ‘s, not to listen to anybody except the bonafide devotees but Mukunda Dutta he didn't take it so serious. So, one day there was a māyāvādī giving a lecture and he went and listen.

When Lord Chaitanya found out He told his secretaries that I don't want to see Mukunda Dutta anymore. He can't sing in my kirtan, he can't come to see me, I don't want to see him at all. And Mukunda Dutta when he entered the door to come in, so you can't come in. What do you mean?

Lord Chaitanya doesn't want to you anymore, you are listening to māyāvādī s, you can't come. He can't believe it, he was completely, he went to Nityānanda and asked Nityananda prabhu went to speak on behalf of Mukunda Dutta.

You can't go with him, Lord Chaitanya said. But he can’t come with me. I don't want to see Mukunda Dutta anymore and I don't to hear about it anymore. This is my decision, if you want to be him you can be with him but I don't want to be him anymore. Nobody could try it was like woosh.

Once Lord Chaitanya made a decision that was it. Nothing anybody could do to change it. Lord is completely independent. If He wants to give His mercy even though someone doesn't deserve it, He can do it. If He doesn't want to give His mercy, nothing anyone can do, unless He decides to change His mind. He is ultimate independent authority. If He wants to listen to someone else's appeal He may be influenced, it’s His free will.

Even though Kṛṣṇa appears to be under the control of His devotees, its simply that He decides to do that. He is always independent. Just like Kṛṣṇa He was, when He was one point He took Rādhārāṇī  and Rādhārāṇī  from the rasa dance and Rādhārāṇī  was feeling very proud or may be not proud but some, she was feeling very special, she was feeling very, but all of a sudden Kṛṣṇa just left her and when the gopī’s  were looking for Kṛṣṇa after He had left the rasa dance then they found their Rādhārāṇī  was crying.

She explained how she was feeling that Kṛṣṇa is dependent on Her. So, She said that Kṛṣṇa you pick me up, I can't walk anymore, I am too tired. How Kṛṣṇa picked Her up. He picked Her up. But just after a short distance He disappeared. He is always independent; He can do whatever He wants. But out of His own free will He reciprocates with the love of His devotees.

So, in this case once He decided I don't want to give the mercy to Mukunda Dutta because he is not following me, nobody could do anything.

Mukunda Dutta he was, he couldn't sleep, he didn't eat, he is just crying, what did I do, I am never going to see Lord Chaitanya again. No, no how did I do, he was just like a mad man, going around. Devotees were feeling so bad to see him.

So Prabhupad said, “Lord Chaitanya is very merciful”. I'll forgive you once, I'll forgive you twice, I'll forgive you three times, four times, five times. But at certain point He may say enough. No more. One shouldn't think that one can un-end idly take advantage of Lord Chaitanya's mercy. From our side we have to show we really want to serve The Lord. Even we make some mistakes He can forgive us. But if we stop trying, we just again and again make the mistakes, without trying to stop it. Then at some point Lord Chaitanya He may not give us the mercy.  So, we have to keep trying.

Mukunda Dutta he stopped trying, he didn't follow the order of Lord Chaitanya. So, when Lord Chaitanya saw it's going to be more beneficial for Mukunda Dutta for me not to give him any more mercy, then He stopped giving him mercy.

Now Mukunda Dutta he was just like a mad man, O he just couldn't live without Lord Chaitanya. He saw Lord Chaitanya's secretary and he went running just after him, the secretary said I can't do anything you know I can't do anything, why do you keep asking me. Lord Chaitanya said doesn't want to see you what can I do. Just ask one question. When, can I see Him again. Just ask that one question. So, the secretary went to ask Lord Chaitanya. Mukunda Dutta. No, I don't want to hear Mukunda Dutta, His tone was so angry. Just wanted to ask one question, when he could see you again. He can't see you but when he could see you again, sometime in the future. Tell him he can see me after one crore of birth, ten million births.

Then the secretary went out and told Mukunda Dutta what Lord Chaitanya said.

Lord Chaitanya said He cannot see him until after ten million births.

HariiiiiBol, HariiiiBol.

He was jumping up and down in ecstasy Hariii Bol, HariiiiBol, Hariii Bol, Hariii Bol.

The secretary said why are you jumping up and down, He said you can't see Him for ten million births. Arre I thought I would never Him again. At least I can see Him after ten million births. Harii Bol, Harii Bol, Harii Bol.

There is hope ok I will see Lord Chaitanya again, Harii Bol Harii Bol. Secretary went back and Lord Chaitanya said what’s all this shouting out there. Why who is shouting Hari Bol, Hari Bol so loudly.

Its Mukunda Dutta.

Why is he shouting for joy?

Secretary told Him what happened. He was so hopeless that he would never see you again when he heard he could see you after ten million births he is just jumping in ecstasy.

So much love for Lord Chaitanya did the, Mukunda Dutta had. Alright bring Mukunda Dutta in. Nobody could change Lord Chaitanya's mind but His own free will if He wants, He is independent, if He wants, He can change anytime.

So, then he is, Mukunda Dutta he had Mukunda Dutta promised I'll never go and listen to māyāvādī s and nobody anyone ever, never ever. After that māyāvādī s goes shhhh, very far away you know. Don't take any chances. Ok distinct conclusion.

Once there was a devotee who was listening to the māyāvādī s and sahajiyas in Vrindavan, called Nitāi Das.

Prabhupad told him not to go and listen to them but they know how to speak very interesting things. Somehow, he disobeyed Prabhupad and went and he got poisoned and he tried to poison other devotees.

So then Prabhupad had to say that he is not allowed to, he is out, he is no longer my disciple, he can't come in anymore to the temple.

Actually, he had taken re-initiation, rejected Prabhupad and he was trying to come and steal away others. So Prabhupad said that he has become a snake. So, nobody should listen to him anymore. Then he told devotee that he'll not be because he has given up a bonafide guru because he has rejected his bonafide guru, so he'll now not get another bonfide guru for a hundred thousand births. He told wah wah hundred thousand births. It’s a very special mercy.

Normally if you reject a bonafide guru you have to wait ten million births. Which is hundred times longer, I am only reduced to to only one percent of the total. Hundred thousand, one million, ten million, only 1 percent.

So, accepting a guru, one accepts a bonafide guru then they, should never reject a bonafide guru otherwise its very, very very very bad. So anyway, today we discussed so many things here, about The Lord's independence, His mystic powers, His opulence’s, how the whole material nature is all worshiping The Lord.

So, we should take shelter in Lord Kṛṣṇa, not take shelter of the material world anything else subordinate to Kṛṣṇa. We accept a guru because he is representing Kṛṣṇa. This way we surrender to Kṛṣṇa through His representative. Otherwise we don't accept anything other than Kṛṣṇa as independent of Kṛṣṇa or equal to Kṛṣṇa.

Hare Kṛṣṇa Hare Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa Hare Hare

Hare Rāma Hare Rāma Rāma Rāma Hare Hare.

Any question?

If someone doesn't follow the order of his spiritual master, doesn't follow the order of his spiritual master it means he is rejected. It means that this person is rejected spiritual master.

If a person falls in māyā, even though they are consciously not following the order of the guru that's offensive against a guru but if they don't blasphame the guru, they don't publicly, they don't actually consciously reject him as a guru, they don't take initiation from anyone else, then they are not specifically guilty of the offense of guru tyaga or rejecting the guru.

They are guilty of the offense guru avagya which is not following the guru, guru avagya, which is the third offense also to the holy names. Just like a child may be naughty and not obey the parent, but, but this relationship is still there of father and son even though the father is a bad son or I mean the son is a bad son. This relationship is still there. So that, there can be correction and one can start to follow the guru again. Just like a misbehave child can again become obedient to the parent and then that disobedience can be forgiven.

I know another disciple of Prabhupad that left Prabhupad then came back and Prabhupad forgave him and re-initiated him again, re re-initiated him. This is a very rare case.

So even if one does guru tyaga they surrender to the guru and the guru accepts him back and they can also get forgiven for that. But someone who goes so far, it’s very hard to come back. So, it’s more, this much more dangerous. Some people you see they fall in maya and they just totally covered by maya but they never like hate the guru. They know it’s my own fault, I am just too weak, I am not, I fail to follow the order of my guru and I am worthless disciple. So, there's a, that's not as serious as, that's not, that's, that can be overcome but if one actually goes against the guru then its very serious, Kṛṣṇa becomes very angry with that person.

Can we pray for other devotees? (Another devotee asks a question).

That's also recommended for book distributors, when you are doing book distribution you can pray to Kṛṣṇa to have mercy on the person. To get the mercy of taking His book and serving.

Devotees pray to Kṛṣṇa so people, new people become devotees. We don't generally pray to Kṛṣṇa for other people's material situation. If we think that it's important for some spiritual reason just like may be the guru is sick, we need the guru to be present with us for more time, then we can pray to Kṛṣṇa that if it please you Kṛṣṇa, if it happens to be pleasing to you, please have mercy that the guru health will recover. Devotees don't want to maintain any separate desire from Kṛṣṇa's.

So, we pray for anything which we don't know, whether it’s Kṛṣṇa's desire or not. If we pray for anything. We want to pray for things which we know are pleasing to Kṛṣṇa. So, we know that Kṛṣṇa wants everyone to be a devotee. So, it’s alright to pray for someone to be a devotee. What if Kṛṣṇa wants to take a devotee out of this world back to Him in the spiritual world, we don't know what Kṛṣṇa's plan is. So He may make a devotee get sick.

So if Kṛṣṇa has another plan we don't want, we don't want, we are not trying to oppose whatever His plan is, but if He doesn't have any specific plan in this, in this matter, If He doesn't have, whether we are praying, if it please you Kṛṣṇa then please make this devotee healthy because he can help here in the temple, like that. That's the difference in pure devotion and mixed devotion.

Mixed devotion whether Kṛṣṇa you like it or not but I want this happen, I am attached, I want this. Pure devotion, even though I attached and I want this but ultimately what's most important is I want whatever you want.

So, if it please you then I'll be very happy if this thing can happen but if it doesn't please you, I accept whatever you want. So, devotees have this mission to the will of The Lord.

So thank you very much, Hari Bol!

Hare Kṛṣṇa, (devotees repeat and chant Jayapatākā Swami ki jai, Hari Bol).

(devotees chant Gaur Premānande.. Hari Hari Bol)
