The following is the talk given by his holiness Jayapataka Swami during Navadwip Mandal Parikrama , the talk occurred on Mar 3rd , 1995 at Sri Srivas Angan.

Today we are very fortunate, the weather is very cool, last year the weather was much hotter. By Lord Gauranga’s mercy we are in a very cool time. I was explaining how Jiva Goswami was brought here by Lord Nityanada with Srivas Thakur. When Srivas Thakur appeared as Narada Muni has delivered the king , he became overwhelmed and he so unconscious on the ground, feeling separation of Lord Gauranga. When (not clear) then here Lord Nitayanada he was also feeling separation of Gauranga, he started to roll on the ground here. Sri Jiva Goswami was offering his obeisances, and then all of a sudden Lord Gauranga he appeared here with all of his associates. Nitai Gaura Prema Anande Hari Hari Hari Hari Hari Hari Bol !!, Gauranga!!, Nityananda!!, Advaita Gosain!!, Gadai!! ,  Srivas!! Adi Gaura Bhaktha Vrinda!!.

All the associates they appeared along the different places there was also a big Kirtan here. In this way, sometime around nine in the morning this happened. Just around this time of Second Prahar, what is the Second Prahar Maharaj ? “Each Prahar is three hrs  , Second Prahar is six hours from the sunrise”, somewhere between 9 and 12. There was a Kirtan along with Lord Chaitanya and his associates going on and there again lord disappeared and they were feeling some very great separation. Nityananda ,Srivas, Jiva Goswami were rolling here on the ground.

This dust is pure with the lotus foot dust of the Gauranga , Nityanada and all the Pancha tattva and all the devotees. You can take some of the dust on your head. In fact, even Prabhodananda Sarsawati he composed a song saying that he wants to cover his body with a dust of the holy land of Godrum because it is so sacred. We are in a very transcendental place, unfortunately we may not have the vision to see that we may be seeing only the external thing and if one (not clear) is Hearing and chanting following the process as Srila Prabhupada gave us as we have been kindly advised by Jay Advaita Maharaj. In this way naturally our heart will become purified and by the causeless mercy of the Lord we can see the transcendental Swarup of Dham, of the Sacred Dham, Navadwip Dham. Navadwip Dham ki Jai,  Navadwip Parikrama ki Jai  !! Srila Prabhupada ki Jai !!Nitai, Gaur Hari Premananade hari Hari Bol.

Here the program we want to try to cover as much of the distances as possible all in the early morning so that we can reach the final destination by 11 or 12 and then the Kirtan can go on there for 2 hrs or as long as you like, no limit. Here nobody can stop Kirtan because this is the place where Lord Chaitanya Maha Prabhu Sankirtan began. Chaithanya Mahaprabhu ki Jai!!  Hari Naam Sankirtan Maha Yagna ki Jai!!

Here naturally devotees will spontaneously chant, Srivas Prabu was Narada muni in his previous past time. He came here before Lord Chaitanya as well as Advaita Gosain whose house was just here about 15 meters to the ‘South’, ‘North’ to the ‘North’, as well as house of Gadhadar prabhu was just again 20 meters far.

Srivas he was a great devotee of Lord Visnu and he was worshipping, and he knew that Advaita Gosain has prayed for the advent of Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. But in the beginning they just know that Nimai Pundit was a great Pundit. So Srivas used to go him and say why are you just wasting your time in all this Sanskrit mundane scholarship? , you should take shelter you should engage in pure Krishna Bhakthi that is the only protection in life. Lord Chaitanya had touched the feet of Srivas and said bless me when I find the bonafide spiritual master then I will take up Bhakthi. So already Lord Chaitanya gave the hint and after he takes initiation, he tried to serve the Sankirtan movement. But in his childhood, he was engaging in playful activities as a Bhavana.

Later Sankirtan movement started, at that time the people were not favorable no body was chanting the names of Krishna. Although people were obstructing it was very difficult. Even when Lord Chaitanya would chant, people would complain, one day they went to Saci Mata and said what is wrong with your son ? he has got some disease. His hairs are dispersed with the body, he is shouting loudly ‘Krishna!’ , ‘Govinda!’. And in this way, he sometimes falling on the ground, fainting and his hairs are standing (not clear) something is wrong with him. Then one person one neighbor said, yes you should give him some (not clear) water, some tender coconut to cool him down.  Another said that is not good enough you need to give something more powerful, put tissue oil on his head to make his brain cool, he is getting too disturbed. Another neighbor said, no no what is the use of all that?, you have to tie him up with a rope , keep him in a house until he gets cool down (not clear), Mother saci would not listen to anyone. Then Lord Chaitanya came here , Nimai came here to see Srivas, he said my dear Srivas you are a great Pundit ,can I ask you something ? , ‘yes’ ,’yes’, you are devotee I am asking you , no one can help me. People are saying that I have a disease, is it true that I have disease? Srivas said what is this disease?. No because I said you , Srivas as I am laughing and I am crying whenever I chant Hare Krishna so many things happening they say that I have got some (not clear) disease, is it true that I have a disease? , Srivas said yes it is true. Lord Chaitanya felt very sad, said what?  Yes, it is true that you have a disease, and I also want that disease. You have the disease of maddened love to Lord Krishna, you have the Krishna Prema, that is the greatest blessing. Hearing that Lord Gauranga was so relived, Srivas said even Brahma and Siva they are hankering for that disease. What would common people understand about your symptoms? so they can’t understand, you come here and chant here in this place this is my garden I have a garden here you can come here and quietly you can chant and (not clear) no one would disturb and I will close the door no one except that devotees will be invited. So then Nimai he accepted that invitation they came in every night and they were chanting the whole night. All Vaishnavas, Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and Srivas Thakur. There are many past times that happened here. Here for 21 hrs  there was a Arati, the Mahaprakash Arati, you are seeing there in center that deity of Lord Chaitanya seated you see that is where Arati was being performed there you can see Nityanada hearing Stotras of Prahlad, different devotees are doing sevas. Advaita Gosain is worshipping for 21 hrs. Lord Gauranga and all the devotees, so many past times happened. Murari Gupta  all the devotes (not clear) doing that Arati ceremony. Here in the Srivas Angan , there are so many times.

Here the mother-in-law of Srivas was discovered hiding under a basket, one day Lord Chaitanya came and was chanting, and he said I do not feel any ecstasy! who is responsible? are you responsible?  are you? is it you? everyone was looking at their (not clear) feeling I don’t know what I made fault and then Srivas looked around and could not find any reason. Then they played the Kirtan and again Lord Chaitanya stopped the Kirtan and said I am not feeling ecstasy who is responsible ? everyone was thinking what Aparadh did I do , what did I do wrong today, in this way they are all (not clear). Then Lord said outside non devotee, watching here disturbing that ecstasy. Although we may feel ecstasy in our heart, we should not expose that infact with non-devotee. They will misunderstand.

So, when Srivas looked around there he saw one basket at corner of his house which was upside down, he lifted up the basket there underneath he found his mother in law. He did not see (not clear) who are you?  what are you doing here? grab a bite here? took her out and threw outside the door. Then Lord Gauranga said who was that? I don’t know that someone disturbed Yagna, I don’t know that. Who was that? was not that your mother-in-law? I do not know that president. We can see Srivas how wonderful devotee. For the pleasure of Lord, even he is just neglecting his mother-in-law and treating her in such a way. Here they were doing Kirtan, Srivas Thakur son also was brought back to life. Like that so many past times happened here. We would like to have (not clear) Maharaj, His holiness (not clear) Maharaj give us some (not clear). Everyone move on so we cannot disturb their (not clear) ceremony we can go on to next temple which is further away from.
