The following is a class given by His Holiness Jayapatākā swami on October 25th 1994 at Murari seva farm in Mulberry Tennessee the class begins with a reading from the Śrīmad Bhāgavatam 3rd , canto chapter 27, verse 12.

yathā jala-stha ābhāsaḥ

sthala-sthenāvadṛśyate

svābhāsena tathā sūryo

jala-sthena divi sthitaḥ

(Devotees repeat)

Translation:

The presence of the Supreme Lord can be realized just as the sun is realized first as a reflection on water, and again as a second reflection on the wall of a room, although the sun itself is situated in the sky.

Purport by His divine grace Śrīla Prabhupāda.

The example given herewith is perfect. The sun is situated in the sky, far, far away from the surface of the earth, but its reflection can be seen in a pot of water in the corner of a room. The room is dark, and the sun is far away in the sky, but the sun’s reflection on the water illuminates the darkness of the room. A pure devotee can realize the presence of the Supreme Personality of Godhead in everything by the reflection of His energy. In the Viṣṇu Purāṇa it is stated that as the presence of fire is understood by heat and light, so the Supreme Personality of Godhead, although one without a second, is perceived everywhere by the diffusion of His different energies. It is confirmed in the Īśopaniṣad that the presence of the Lord is perceived everywhere by the liberated soul, just as the sunshine and the reflection can be perceived everywhere although the sun is situated far away from the surface of the earth, globe.

His Holiness Jayapataka Swami: Therefore, end this translation and purport text 12, chapter 27, canto 3 of Śrīmad Bahgavatam In the matter of understanding material nature. om tat sat.

Yesterday we had Sun shining in the room here we have the sun shining in the room on a bowl of water and then from the bowl of water reflects and the image goes on the wall.

You must have seen that how some time you know on the room of mirrors in India it’s very common.

In some ancient temples that have room of mirrors where the deities inside (In audible: 3.31) you can see hundreds of images of the deities.

Light in wall being reflected again and again and again back and forth again to me looking keeps on being reflected. So the Sun being reflective of something that again it’s one on the wall we can see the wall so whether you see the Sun directly will you see the sunlight of the Sun whether you see the reflection of the sunlight in on some other situation on some wall or something it’s all evidence of the existence of the Sun this is how we can understand the presence of the Sun so this is given as an example we can understand the presence of the supreme Lord.

Because of the various energies the various reflections of the energies the various results of energy some thought just like if you see a child that it’s evidence there must be mother and father and then they must have had father their evidence was original mother and father. Modern science will think who is your original mother and father we were evolved from some animal but according to the Vedas it’s not a fact.

The Human beings are actually brought to this planet from another planet by (In audible:5.10) and propagated and this way model is coming also from another planet and eventually everything is coming from Lord Brahmā.

So from (In audible:5.27) Lord the whole universe is populated with Brahmā is coming from Viṣṇu  ignore whatever that temper very usually I need this thing this is a program in the community but I definitely won’t stay there usually is I stay someone’s community yeah if there’s a program going to happen there like stance them out there or I can try back to stand in the temple.

So then Lord Brahmā he comes from Lord Viṣṇu so for the devotees everything they see they see this see the Kṛṣṇa’s energy it’s like the scientists have their fair everything they see they trying to think oh this proves the missing link this proves the Big Bang theory.

(In audible: 6.49) prabhu he explains how they actually do selective acceptance of everything because they are so purely programed to try to prove their theory that if any evidence comes which doesn’t t fit into their theory that they do said well this must be this must have come from another level and digging into something.

They (In audible: 7.13) modern man even millions and millions of years ago which doesn’t prove that there was a little (In audible: 7.19) in man side by side with this other kind of aboriginal people. If you ever see that picture of the people at Papua New Guinea?

Some the tribal people, they are looking exactly like I don’t know the technically different but they look quite historic in terms of their features and everything up course we have temples and they are preaching to this people on the chanting.

So they can be Kṛṣṇa consciousness too they are just different kinds of human beings and they said comes from the other or this is Darwin’s theory but did not support it by the Vedas and there is already seeds are given by Kṛṣṇa didn’t have to evolve at this time at this stage in creation Kṛṣṇa already has his seeds for the different species of life eight million four hundred thousand species and He simply has to give those the seeds to Brahmā and He can produce any one of those creatures.

So, the point of discussion today is now we can recognize the presence of God (In audible: 8.40) this is very important to recognize the Kṛṣṇa is present everywhere.

Prahlad Maharaj he was five years old and he had that faith that Kṛṣṇa was present everywhere, soon his father said did He present inside this column he said up course He is present everywhere.

His father hit this is how about this is ridiculous this is impossible my son is just propagating this kind of speculation smashes the column with force to kill his son and a person came a sound that shakes an entire universe.

Now these are things which actually happen this happen already in another planet in another time another the sphere but this is an important history to understand although Lord is present everywhere.

Then anyway so Lord reciprocates with his devotees.

There is the story in (In audible: 9.57) is point where he (In audible: 10.02) down he was writing how Kṛṣṇa had humbled himself before Rādhārāṇī  than He was feeling may be this is true but I shouldn’t say that and when he thought of the work he didn’t write it down said he decided to go out and take a bath and then lubra it’s (In audible: 10.28) going off then after a little while he came back and I saw you back so quick to he said I have to write down something (In audible: 10.40) wrote something and then and then left then after all again the husband came back what’s going on what do you mean you just came back and I didn’t t come back oh you just came back, wrote something down so I didn’t I was over there I was bathing right I didn’t t come back anyway and he saw that in the book I think he was hesitating to write about Kṛṣṇa and written in so then he knew that it was Kṛṣṇa and took his form came in and wrote it.

So sometimes Kṛṣṇa wants He can appear anywhere. At least He was in the heart of (In audible: 11.30) he knows everything he is writing everything is thinking and it wasn’t (In audible: 11.36) was hesitating like this and he called Kṛṣṇa and come within himself I said no should write it even I have one school teacher one Guru actually a disciple of the Guru cool fifty years ago he was (In audible: 11.59) giving classes.

One day there was like some very important worship of Kṛṣṇa for some holy day. Here have you had to do it but said how can I do it I had to go to work do the classes or something but then he said no it’s more important I have to like it was a rope it won’t be on both sides that will let me do my Kṛṣṇa’s service. They did as Kṛṣṇa’s service and we went to school and we have to know he said I want to apologize for not being here in the (In audible: 12.30) what you mean?

You been joking with us you were here in the morning; I was here?

Seriously you gave class in the morning but he know he wasn’t there so then after that he was lying and then he said okay Kṛṣṇa has got a cover me in school (Laughing)

So, this is Kṛṣṇa that this person he was completely he dedicated his life to serve Kṛṣṇa after that. There is an interesting story how this is king of Viṣṇu pura the descendant of the king of Viṣṇu pura was (In audible: 13.04) become Mahāśaya  , Mahāśaya  who was the disciple of Śrī nivas ācārya and they are being attacked with some rotting plunders from Maharashtra who had been (In audible: 13.29) over parts of Bengal and they have they had they all persecute the Brahmānas and Vaishnavas they didn’t care about anybody they just steal from them.

So, all the Brahmānas and Vaishnavas adopt had to migrate to kingdoms whether kings are powerful where they could be protected from this robber whose name was Bhaskar pundit.

So, this Bhaskar pundit had attacked this king of Viṣṇu pura several time but he was always we fought this.

One time the king said that for one day we will not fight simply chant Hare Kṛṣṇa everyone in the kingdom was simply chant no one should so the everyone was chanting the whole name and there on earth ever these foolish people others chanting under wipe them off she came to attack what everybody was chanting and then all of a sudden the King had this you know.

Our Bom Bom Bom this cannon white hop like almost like a machine gun that is going on and off so what is that sounds it’s like fifty cannon you know cannon? big guns.

The king said who is fighting I ordered no one has to fight find out who is fighting this is actually no one should fight and then they sent some when they go out and see what’s happening messenger came back and said that all the robbers are dead, manicured, ten thousand soldiers wiped out Bhaskar pundit killed and he said who did it?

He said, “Well your majesty we find this is difficult to believe but everyone”. Said said it is done by the deity!

The deity came out and had one cannon on each arm with cannons destroying off and just wiped out the entire body of this plunder and they went to the temple and the deity room was filled with his smell of gun powder (In audible: 15.50) two cannons smoking left you know in the field there.

So they kept while the cannon while the people come up and touch it certain enemy archaeologists are saying recently they did some excavation they found coins from Maharashtra the coins of this like he was like a renegade King he just came and conquered and established his own system and they follow points that showed that there was in the battlefield.

There are coins there were relics so there was a big battle there so for more wars he can do anything speaker the section goes all walking from their mouth fighting deity after the devotees would not have any difficulty to understand what is (In audible: 16.49) they can see everything as Kṛṣṇa’s expansion as Kṛṣṇa’s energy that’s informed by Upanishads from the Viṣṇu purana heard by all the devas.

If sun may be millions of miles away, we know the Sun shine by so many reflections. Similarly, Kṛṣṇa may be situated in Goloka Vṛndāvan but you could see this person of everywhere through his expansions and energies.

But in this sankirtan we preach so Kṛṣṇa sense people who can answer people.

Sometime some people who are very right for Kṛṣṇa consciousness were very grateful so on the (In audible: 17.45) it’s more than a coincidence how Kṛṣṇa sending different people from so many I remember one time I went to Thailand and from via Calcutta and then there was some problem and lost my reservation anyway they got me on the flight and just turned out that I was sitting in our row twice whatever twice over and I am sitting in the aisle seat now live over right next to me there is some young man sitting his got neck piece, I said Hare Krsna?

He said Hare Kṛṣṇa maharaj.

So here devotee somehow they are been looking and they said arrived from Vṛndāvan or some Bombay or something like that I was just going off to (In audible: 18.43-18.59)

So many things like that if Kṛṣṇa is in control, the Kṛṣṇa tells Arjuna he’d just be the instrument (In audible: 19.11) simply be the instrument however we fought the battle if we have that understanding of Lord Caitanya is predicted the whole battles some fear come home confinement despair we should surrender ourselves allow ourselves to be an instrument  (In audible: 19.27) a lot of time we have false ego and limited intelligence we block it ourselves or we some or another inhibit our free ability to be an instrument in Kṛṣṇa’s hand.

Even Lords personal provision up there what service they can do.

So like Śrīla  Prabhupāda he said well I want to finish the Caitanya Caritāmṛta so although probably it takes only two or three books a month or a year to coming out he got everything geared up and somehow he translated and published all the seventeen volumes of Caitanya Caritāmṛta in two months and people don’t know that two month which so in Kṛṣṇa Consciousness we are rather than you know I can’t we have to see the mood of you know I’ll try can do and a header to let me try that I can depend on Kṛṣṇa’s mercy whether we were able to do it you don’t think that see I am very very great I could do it, because we think it’s Kṛṣṇa’s mercy.

We don’t kill you know indispensable because Kṛṣṇa can arrange at the same time the devotee always feels the Kṛṣṇa the deity is depending on me if I don’t do the arati to the deity won’t be served.

So up course we live the word of belief some or other with some Kṛṣṇa may arrange it’s another thing but still out of love just like a parent feels obliged to care for the children. If we have that type of consciousness to care of the Kṛṣṇa its very spiritually uplifting a beneficent Kṛṣṇa reciprocates oh this devotee is caring and for all care for the devotee.

And the story I told earlier about Govind gosh deity were saying after someday deity were saying not taking care of me so nicely.

Said “Oh well I am in anxiety. My son was going to do shraddha ceremony after he died ritual is supposed to perform the death anniversary of their parents by perform a special worship for the departed soul so now my son left and who’s going to perform that ceremony, I am such a fallen person then deity said you just concentrate on your service to me and I will do the ceremony for you and your son, serve here the deity does that ceremony for his devotees”.

(In audible: 22.21) anniversary, hundreds of thousands of people attend like same Nitāi Gaurachandra they take up service to the deity in their mood that deities are depending on me not in a mundane sense not to do things but in a loving sense but I have to do this service to Kṛṣṇa offer the best things to Kṛṣṇa the best note the best fruit whatever we can get this your province of the best of what you can grow yourself it’s very good because outside things all are polluted with so much carnage and all the these spraying so much things on in fruits (In audible: 23.14) also they have I mean if they can grow something it’s much better.

If you can’t then the best you can get unfortunately have not yet offered the cow otherwise outside they are putting so many hormones and antibiotics and things in the milk definitely nice to be able to directly offer very often (In audible: 23.35) three times you don’t need the pasteurizer this also gives good intelligence for spiritual life we have fresh (In audible: 23.45) not best dressed a contaminated helps us to understand spiritual so subject matter that it easier had something special ingredients and they are whole fresh milk and this way we tried to offer the best worship we can to the deity. If because of some constraint in temple by itself

Just like say even Sanātana Goswami he was worshipping his deity and he was every day offer chapati and deities some time complaining, you are not giving any salt can I ask some salt for my chapati and he said I am sanyasi and where do I can get salt?

Here in the forest don’t create some kind of complication now you (In audible: 24.40-45) don’t  create complication you know to serve whatever you give me that nothing about my way and gets you some salt it’s a no there will be any other service for you I had to write it to other things like this.

So then Lord Kṛṣṇa He brings one merchant he comes with the whole boat of salt not only does He gives salt but He sees the light from Sanatana Goswami then some kind of storm or something and then he gets he so happy then he decides to build a big temple for Rādhā govind.

So Rādhā govind gives salt and temple both.

So Sanatana Goswami because he was living like that but himself living offered in the simple way his (In audible: 25.49) do he worship every day brother that Bhakti Raghav, Bhakti Raghav pundit.

Raghav pundit was living in his house and he would go he would get the best coconuts and the best fruits from he will go ten miles away those days to walk ten miles together to get better coconut the tree was more sweeping in this tree get coconut in cheapest five miles of layers and there was a better trees he go and get the coconut in a bank.

He was himself worshiping deity so that they can have a personal relationship and the deity.

So, devotees see Kṛṣṇa everywhere at the same time they worship the deities find the Kṛṣṇa is directly present as the deity form.

Liberated Souls can see Kṛṣṇa everywhere we are not so liberated to worship Kṛṣṇa everywhere. They can worship also the deity form those are liberated they also worship the deity form but then they see the Lord presents in a much more direct manner at the same time they also know that Kṛṣṇa is present everywhere.

So, we are seeing this reflection that’s also been reflected on our senses we are the ātmā and we are seeing that reflection in the senses we seen the presence of the others energy so that reflection into our consciousness we can also then accept the presence of the Lord. (In audible: 27.56) said everything is coming from original source “ janmādy asya yataḥ” so he see all these by-products you see this all is the proof of original source.

So the devotees isn’t like that and this makes actual perfect sense but the scientists are trying modern, mundane atheistic science there are two kinds of science just like more spiritual (In audible: 28.30) for God conscious scientist and with atheistic scientist some atheistic scientist trying everything they see they trying (In audible: 28.37) I have this rules that there is no ultimate truth everything has an accident.

So Prabhupāda said even that things came from a big bang who lit the fuse who made the made the bang? So Kṛṣṇa said before this creation I existed then I created so by His word the chain reaction began to the (In audible: 29.06) his will let there be exact opening the (In audible: 29.10-12) but before this material creation Kṛṣṇa already existed there was no Brahmā, there was no Śiva manifested but Nārāyaṇa  was there, Kṛṣṇa was there do you remember that?

There was Brahmā, The Śiva  there is so many universe, so many living entities at the end they wipe everything up in the Mahā pralaya and they turn and entering into the body of Nārāyaṇa  again there will be no Brahmā no Śiva  no material universe this is going on countless times nobody could understand this except those who get the information from Nārāyaṇa  how often you know now Nārāyaṇa  was the only one there is only one Who can tell you that He was there and this is the things happen.

So therefore the Vedas are claiming that we should get our knowledge by inductive system my descending knowledge we are getting the knowledge from Kṛṣṇa is it really has been handed down by disciplic succession this is a flawless way of giving knowledge there is no doubt if you have someone who really knows intelligent and is no doubt the deductive way there is always a certain factor of doubt.

Just like you reading in the newspaper they’ll say oh it’s new medicine we tested one hundred and all of people nobody got sick then we tested ten thousand people nobody got sick so it seems like it’s alright.

But she never know that after ten years they actually now all its side effect we didn’t t really see it take ten years to come out you take this medicine and after ten years you start losing your eyesight and hearing will stop bladder starts to whatever you know so this is every doctor assist you you take some evidence and from that you kind of the doctor conclusion but you never hundred percent sure because you always seen so many and you are always studying for so much time and you are only looking at certain results does it cause cancer out of these ten thousand people did anyone get cancer or not that nobody got cancer either the cause cancer.

I thought somebody got something else they destroy your liver over there how many things can they tell because (In audible: 32.04) things as they can but whether it’s really harmless it’s another question.

So, this example the youth that so sometimes he have (In audible:32.20-22) of example in epistemology of how they understand things that as an example of the deductive systems say scientist a study that (In audible: 32.37) it’s in Europe.

As a thousand swans and all swans are white so they deductive swans are white the death someone goes to Australia there they find there is such a thing as the Black Swan then the whole theory that swans are white is no longer valid.

Europeans wants may be white but Australian swans are black you did not know did you, now you know something so that the way that the deductive knowledge works it’s never hundred percent sure it’s one exception throws off the whole rule if you say that okay human beings are all evolved and this is the way it happened then you find a lot archaeological order fossil record of a modern human being for a millions and millions of years ago  they tells away the whole  theory that’s the one wanna accept must be wrong tend because of the whole theory is it’s a deduction is not so actually you never know conclusively every benefit it’s more like it’s it’s always a substantiated theory up to what we know it holds.

So in this way the whole people are tending to this way the knowledge is going now in Vedas they say that we use so many examples and things we can see that that observable reality is one of the truths one of the ways of getting knowledge but is considered a fallible way to their extent that (In audible: 34.35) can be used but if you want to know why did this universe come from why existed before this universe was created obviously that’s beyond our ability to deduct you can dis speculate if you there is no way you can say because my definition if the universe didn’t exist the more information you get from the universe how will that tell you what existed before you can’t tell anything.

So therefore, the only way to act impulsively in anything is by the inductive system by the descending acknowledge from Kṛṣṇa. When we talked to people many times people say to us this is the way you believe and you talk to someone you believe what they really need is well this is your speculation I have my speculation you have your speculation.

Eeveryone can think whatever they want there is no we speculated what we think this is what’s been handed down from Kṛṣṇa. Therefore, it probably different category of knowledge is not just somebody relive for speculation but it’s a very conclusive way of gaining knowledge is the most complete so might be absolute conclusively way.

So, we want to know Kṛṣṇa’s existence He saying with so energy is a symptom of my existence it’s an evidence do this all manifested for me so anytime we see anything we can be reminded that this is Kṛṣṇa’s energy that’s how the greater soul Śrī Kṛṣṇa everywhere Caitanya Caritamrata says the Śrī Kṛṣṇa everywhere they look.

So, they can see Kṛṣṇa directly see Kṛṣṇa indirectly through his energy.

Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare

Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare

Any question?

When you dropped something in the water what is the sound it makes? Bloop right? the devotee is in Kṛṣṇa consciousness is considered is above the ocean of birth and death but if they lead (Inaudible: 37.17)

Jai Nitāi gaurachandra ki jai if they leave and go back into the material karmic activities then that hand of the slang the work group was in the book they went back into the ocean of birth and death like bloop they sinking again we want to stay above the ocean of birth and death not bloop they came to the cycle reincarnation that we can do by chanting

Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare

Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare

and by serving Kṛṣṇa. Is that ok?

(In audible: 37.58-38.28)

Any other question?

Hare Kṛṣṇa
