2 Oct 2024|English|Question and Answer Session|Śrī Māyāpur, India

mūkaṁ karoti vācālaṁ paṅguṁ laṅghayate girim

Jayapatākā Swami: Any questions?

Question: You said that everybody needs to take care of their parents. Then the brahmacārīs who have left their houses, how will they do it?

Jayapatākā Swami: If they have dedicated their lives to Kṛṣṇa, then they don’t owe anything to anyone. Sometimes people do things to serve their parents. So it depends how you balance your service to guru and Kṛṣṇa and how you take care of your parents.

Question: Could you please clarify the different effects of māyā and Kali-yuga?

Jayapatākā Swami: Mahāmāyā will always test you with material prosperity or property, it is not particularly tamasic, it just tests you. Kali is trying to sell us meat eating, intoxication, illicit sex, gambling. So he was caught by Parīkṣit Mahārāja for beating a cow and a bull. So Parīkṣit Mahārāja was going to punish him. But Kali surrendered to Parīkṣit Mahārāja. So a kṣatriya does not punish someone who has surrendered. So, Kali asked for some place to stay. So he gave him these four places. So he said these places don’t exist in your kingdom, please give me some place where I can stay. So, then Parīkṣit Mahārāja said that you can stay where there is hoarding of gold. Because where people hoard gold all the sinful activities are there.

Thank you all! See you tomorrow!

My blessings! Kṛṣṇe matir astu!
