Translation: This cosmic manifestation is as it is now, it was the same in the past, and it will continue in the same way in the future.
Purport by Śrīla Prabhupāda: There is a systematic schedule for the perpetual manifestation, maintenance and annihilation of the material world, as stated in Bhagavad-gītā (9.8): bhūta-grāmam imaṁ kṛtsnam avaśaṁ prakṛter vaśāt. As it is created now and as it will be destroyed later on, so also it existed in the past and again will be created, maintained and destroyed in due course of time. Therefore, the systematic activities of the time factor are perpetual and eternal and cannot be stated to be false. The manifestation is temporary and occasional, but it is not false as claimed by the Māyāvādī philosophers.

Translation: There are nine different kinds of creations besides the one which naturally occurs due to the interactions of the modes. There are three kinds of annihilations due to eternal time, the material elements and the quality of one’s work.
Purport by Śrīla Prabhupāda: The scheduled creations and annihilations take place in terms of the supreme will. There are other creations due to interactions of material elements which take place by the intelligence of Brahmā. Later these will be more explicitly explained. At present, only preliminary information is given. The three kinds of annihilations are (1) due to the scheduled time of the annihilation of the entire universe, (2) due to a fire which emanates from the mouth of Ananta, and (3) due to one’s qualitative actions and reactions.

Jayapatākā Swami: So today, we have two ślokas. [No audio] And therefore we have to think in that way, accordingly. Both the slokas are regarding the material cosmic manifestations. Different kinds of creations and destructions. [No audio] The Māyāvādīs say the material world is false, Brahman is true. We are not saying that the material world is false. It is real, but it is temporary. If we think it is permanent then we are fools! [No audio] The material world was there earlier, is there now existing and in the future will be annihilated. I was saying that the material world is created, destroyed, again created and destroyed. Time, kāla, is one of Kṛṣṇa’s forms. Time factor is existent only in the material world. [No audio] The spiritual world stays permanent – past, present and future. In the spiritual world you have eternally present. Nobody gets old, everything is eternal! [No audio] But in this material world the time factor is always existent. So, depending on what planet you are in, time may be shorter or longer. [No audio] Bali Mahārāja, he was told he would be the Indra, three Indras from now. In the earth planet Kali-yuga, we live for a maximum of about 100 years. [No audio] Usually, 70 or 80 or 60 years. According to Life Insurance companies, usually women live longer. Lord Caitanya when He went to Bangladesh to preach, to teach, His wife Lakṣmīpriyā, she was feeling great separation from Lord Caitanya and went back to the spiritual world. So she was playing the part of a woman and [No audio]
I said, Bali Mahārāja, after three Indras, he would become the Indra. Indra lives for one Manu. One Manu is 71 catur-yugas. [No audio] So, if you are going to be Indra after three Indras that means after 210 or something catur-yugas. So if you calculate it is a long time. We were walking on one of the floors’ corridor in the [No audio] Lotus building. We were looking down and saw a group of ants moving, and looking at them and thinking how small they are and how insignificant! How long is the duration of an ant’s life? [No audio] Śrīla Prabhupāda said just as how we are looking at the ants, the devas from the heavenly planets look down at us. Our one year is their 12 hours or 24 hours I forget. So, we are [No audio] Each living entity in different planets, they have different life spans. And so, time is there but how it applies is different. So, [No audio] someone told me this morning quote about Vaiṣṇava-nindā to me given by Śrīla Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura. You can read that.
Vaiṣṇava-nindā by Śrīla Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura,
Section 1 by Śrīla Śrīla Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura: Among all kinds of offences a living entity can commit, there is no offence as terrible as vaiṣṇava-aparādhā. Therfore it is crucial to deliberate upon the meaning of vaiṣṇava-aparādhā according to the śāstras. It is written in the Skanda-Purāṇa as follows:
“Those fools that blaspheme those great souls who are devoted to Lord Viṣṇu fall down into the hell known as Mahā-raurava, along with their descendants. There are six types of behavior that result in such a fall down:
1. Killing a Vaiṣṇava
2. Blaspheming him
3. Feeling malice towards him
4. Not greet him upon seeing him
5. Becoming angry at him
6. not feeling delight upon seeing him.”
You said 5 and 6 together!
When Śrīla Prabhupāda went to the West people were not guilty of these offences. Because there were no Vaiṣṇavas then. Therefore they could not do vaiṣṇava-aparādhā. [No audio] Now we are many, many Vaiṣṇavas. So you have a lot of opportunity to commit aparādhā. You heard the six offences you heard, if you become angry, or don’t welcome the Vaiṣṇavas, don’t become delighted when you see Vaiṣṇavas, [No audio] So Jīvanātha Prabhu takes his kīrtana party and people say, “Oh! How nicely these devotees are doing kīrtana!” You should be in bliss! Ulu-dhvani! Hari-dhvani!
[No audio] We are very happy that for the past few days many Vaiṣṇavas coming to Māyāpur. I heard that His Holiness Rādhānātha Swami is coming, I heard different numbers, with 12,000 or 15,000 devotees are coming! But they are coming! Haribol! [No audio] This is a good opportunity for us to welcome the devotees! Haribol! So it maybe a bit crowded in the temple. We should not hate the crowds. [No audio] Our purpose to have a temple is to have people come. Because there is a cyclone ‘Dana’ has arrived in Odisha and West Bengal, yesterday we had less people. [No audio] Usually we have 20,000 or 30,000, sometimes 50,000 visitors. Yesterday we only had 11,000. That was a bad day yesterday! Still, a few people can buy books and take prasāda. [No audio] So if anyone wants to serve in the ‘Help Desk’ you can contact Pañcajanya Keśava dāsa. [No audio] You are all representatives of the Pañca-tattva! And the representatives of Śrī Śrī Rādhā Mādhava, Aṣṭa-sakhis and Māyāpur-candra.
Someone read to us this verse of Śrīla Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura on Vaiṣṇava-nindā. So we are so fortunate we have so many Vaiṣṇavas! [No audio] So those devotees, who go with me they look or seem to look angry at the devotees who throw flowers at me when I come to the temple. [No audio] The GBC said that ladies, men, they are all Vaiṣṇavas, Vaiṣṇavīs. So we have to be careful not to offend anyone. You may have to clear the path respectfully. [No audio] The lady next to you may be expert in wearing her saree if we criticize… I don’t know if the dhotis are that visible! [No audio]
This material world is created and destroyed. So we want to be engaged in Kṛṣṇa’s service all the time. Because we are in the material world everyone will [No audio] will be with us. So living in the material world, we cannot be frustrated if time creates some obstacles. This material world [No audio] comes with some problems. Like we have birth, death, disease, so there are some material happiness and some material miseries. [No audio] We want to engage everything in the service of Kṛṣṇa. If we have children, we pray to have Kṛṣṇa consciousness, long lived healthy children and they can do something for Kṛṣṇa. [No audio] So in this material world everyone born, dies. Old age, disease. So the material world is not a good place! But we can get special blessing by serving the Pañca-tattva, serving Rādhā Mādhava, Aṣṭa-sakhis and Māyāpur-candra. [No audio] and Lord Narasiṁhadeva. And all the Vaiṣṇavas. We could do vaiṣṇava-nindā or vaiṣṇava-sevā.
So these were very nice ślokas, saying the material world existed before, exists and gets destroyed. And then the material world comes again. It comes as it was before. So, [No audio] Some Christians say, born again! That means they want to be spiritually born. [No audio] So in people’s car there are different stickers they put on. One sticker is: Born again and again and again! It is very humorous. Born again and again and again! [No audio] So the nitya-baddhas, they think that they are born again and again and again and they think they are the body. But the nitya-muktas, they eternally live in the service of Kṛṣṇa. So, Śrīla Prabhupāda, he came around the world and he spread this knowledge of eternal existence. So there are seven minutes left. Any questions or comments?
Question: You were talking about how this material world is no good. There is an interesting purport in the chapter, where Kṛṣṇa shows His universal form to His mother in His mouth. This is the next to the last verse in the chapter and describes what takes place after Kṛṣṇa becomes the son of Mother Yaśodā and Nanda Mahārāja. There were some amazing sentences that Śrīla Prabhupāda wrote in the purport. This 10.8.51. [No audio] Looking for your comment on this Mahārāja. Sometimes we may see superficially that a devotee is in difficulty. Because of being engaged in devotional service. But the fact is different. When a devotee suffers for Kṛṣṇa, that suffering is transcendental enjoyment. Unless one [No audio] this cannot be understood.
Jayapatākā Swami: Usually, we like people have a question on the ślokas we read. Anyway, you read a verse and then asked, “What is your comment?” Anyway, if a devotee is suffering for Kṛṣṇa, he can take that as an offering to Kṛṣṇa. I think that this pastime was accusing Kṛṣṇa of eating dirt. And He said, “You look in My mouth, there is no dirt there!” And then Yaśodā looking into the mouth of child Kṛṣṇa, she saw the whole universe and some planets. She was in that planet [No audio] She was looking in the mouth of Kṛṣṇa [No audio] And then she pushed Kṛṣṇa away. It was too much for her! So, all these exchanges with Kṛṣṇa are transcendental and full of bliss! [No audio]
Thank you very much! Hare Kṛṣṇa!
