20230709 Initiation Address at Assam Tripura Nāmahaṭṭa Sammelan

The following is an initiation address given by His Holiness Jayapatākā Swami Mahārāja on July 9th, 2023 in Śrīdhāma Māyāpur, India. The Address was given to the Assam Tripura Nāmahaṭṭa Sammelana devotees.

mūkaṁ karoti vācālaṁ paṅguṁ laṅghayate girim
yat-kṛpā tam ahaṁ vande śrī-guruṁ dīna-tāraṇam
paramānandaṁ mādhavaṁ śrī caitanya iśvaram

Hariḥ oṁ tat sat!

Jayapatākā Swami: After many days at the end of the Assam Sammelan, there is an initiation ceremony to be performed. Here all of you should discuss about Lord Nitāi Gaurāṅga. The way Nitāi-Gaura gave mercy, this way Rādhā Kṛṣṇa, Jagannātha Baladeva Subhadrā, Rukmiṇī Kṛṣṇa, various devotional practices are taught. Generally, it would not have been so easy but with the mercy of Nitāi-Gaura we are able to get kṛṣṇa-prema. Lord Gaurāṅga told Lord Nityānanda that We have descended from Goloka Vṛndāvana to deliver four types of people. These people are not generally delivered but We will deliver them. Other than the brāhmaṇas and the kṣatriyas, those who are lowborn, those who are fallen and those who are distressed because of various reasons. This way, We have come to deliver all the people. This Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu ordered Lord Nityānanda and that way everyone easily got this mercy. Now, first we do Harināma and we try not to commit any offence. Generally, there is offence we commit while doing Harināma. But Gaurāṅga Mahāprabhu gave such mercy that there is no offence, ied. that the offence is reduced. This way our previous ācārya, Siddha Jagannātha dāsa Bābājī, he used to do bhajana in Vṛndāvana. But in Vṛndāvana whatever good karma we do we get a thousand times the benefit. But there is one thing that if in Vṛndāvana we do any sin or offence, then they also get magnified a thousand times. But here in this audārya-dhāma, Navadvīpa, any good karma gets a thousand times benefit. But any offence is not magnified so much. That is why Siddha Jagannātha dāsa Bābājī, he got the benefit here of devotional service to Rādhā Kṛṣṇa in aṣṭa-sāttvikā-bhāva. So this is the benefit of Navadvīpa, the audārya-dhāma. Benefit a thousand times but offence is not so magnified. This way, here following Gaurāṅga Mahāprabhu easily we can do devotional service to Rādhā Kṛṣṇa. That is why you are all so fortunate that following Lord Caitanya’s orders you can get liberated. I hope that all of you will take this opportunity that they can follow Lord Caitanya’s orders. This way, all of you will get all the mercy! You have to practice and try that I will surrender completely to Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa. If there are some here who have not taken the shelter of Gaurāṅga Mahāprabhu, but in some way or other He will give them shelter. That in this lifetime they are successful. Caitanya Mahāprabhu had said,

bhārata-bhūmite haila manuṣya-janma yāra
janma sārthaka kari' kara para-upakāra
(Cc. Ādi 9.41)

So let your lives be perfected by doing kṛṣṇa-bhajana, devotional service to Kṛṣṇa. Now the initiation ceremony that is going on, is that all our lives we will do Harināma. And we will stay away from sinful karma. This is not very difficult but you have to do this with great enthusiasm. So, you definitely heard the offences to Harināma and also about devotional service to Kṛṣṇa. That is why I spoke shortly here. Who all of you have taken vows?
