Śrī Kṛṣṇa Caitanya Book Compilation
The following is a Śrī Kṛṣṇa Caitanya Book Compilation given by His Holiness Jayapatākā Swami Mahārāja on July 8th, 2023 in Śrī Dhāma Māyāpur, India.
mūkaṁ karoti vācālaṁ paṅguṁ laṅghayate girim
yat-kṛpā tam ahaṁ vande śrī-guruṁ dīna-tāraṇam
paramānandaṁ mādhavaṁ śrī caitanya iśvaram
Hariḥ oṁ tat sat!
Hare Kṛṣṇa! Dear Devotees! Today we will continue with the compilation of Śrī Kṛṣṇa Caitanya Book. Today's chapter is entitled as:
Lord Caitanya Falls in the Sea Thinking It to be Yamunā
Under the section: Rescuing the Lord from the Sea
Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Antya-līlā, 18.24
gopīsaha kṛṣṇera jalakeli-śloka pāṭha :—
ei-mata rāsera śloka-sakala-i paḍilā
śeṣe jala-kelira śloka paḍite lāgilā
Translation: Thus all the verses about the rāsa-līlā dance were recited. Then finally the verse concerning the pastimes in the water was recited.
Jayapatākā Swami: So, Lord Caitanya He was listening to all the rāsa-līlā ślokas and at the end the aspect of Lord Kṛṣṇa bathing with the gopīs in the Yamunā was recited and how Kṛṣṇa He was splashing the Yamunā water on His associate gopīs.
Translation: Everyone was overwhelmed with moroseness and almost unconscious, but out of ecstatic love they continued to wander here and there, searching for the Lord.
Jayapatākā Swami: This love for Kṛṣṇa is something real and when these devotees could not see Lord Caitanya, they started to feel overwhelmed with separation. This is a symptom of intense, ecstatic love. The people have emotions for other things in the material world. But when that emotion is centered around Kṛṣṇa, then it is considered as Prema, as ecstatic love of Kṛṣṇa. So, they were having this attachment to Lord Caitanya that’s described in this verse as Prema.
Thus ends the chapter entitled, Lord Caitanya Falls in the Sea Thinking It to be Yamunā
Under the section: Rescuing the Lord from the Sea
Hearing how the devotees of Lord Caitanya, they felt intense separation, I am personally overwhelmed! Hare Kṛṣṇa!
