Jayapatākā Swami: You heard when I was introduced that I have more practice speaking Bengali. But I will try to speak Hindi. I see that you are very organized. Marīci dāsa and the Safari devotees, around 100 have come, from about 30 countries. Devotees have come from some countries whose names even you have never heard perhaps. Tomorrow I will be going to Patna, but now I will talk about Lord Caitanya’s līlā in Jhārikhaṇḍa. All the Safari devotees wanted to take darśana of Jhārikhaṇḍa. This devotee has come from the Czech Republic. Lord Kṛṣṇa, He is the Supreme Personality of Godhead. He has many forms, unlimited. All those forms, every form has different potencies, moods. They are called sva-aṁsa. We are jīvātmā. We are called vibhinnāṁsa. We are very small aṁsa or part of the Lord. The Lord is one who has many forms. And we are all so many souls. The most knowledgeable jīva is Lord Brahmā. Lord Śiva is above the jīvātmā and above him is Lord Viṣṇu. And The original Parameśvara is Lord Kṛṣṇa. In the Brahma-saṁhitā it says:

īśvaraḥ paramaḥ kṛṣṇaḥ
sac-cid-ānanda-vigrahaḥ
anādir ādir govindaḥ
sarva-kāraṇa-kāraṇam

Now Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa’s preaching is going on all over the world by the International Society for Krishna Consciousness. His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupāda personally established 108 temples all over the world. His order was that whatever temples he has established, at least we should take care of them. You can develop the temples, that is nice, he said. Now there are 800 to 1000 temples all over the world. Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa has many pastimes. In Dvārakā, Vṛṣṇi, Kṛṣṇa was there in each and every pastime. And Lord Kṛṣṇa had 16,108 queens. One Kṛṣṇa expanded and went with 16,108 queens. One Kṛṣṇa had one queen with Him. A yogī can expand himself into eight forms but the consciousness of all will be one. Nārada Muni who can fly, went to every palace to see how Lord Kṛṣṇa was with each of the different queens. He was with every queen and was performing different pastimes – with one He was playing chess, with one He was doing political discussions with a minister. So the 16,108 forms of Kṛṣṇas were doing different pastimes.

The same Lord Kṛṣṇa appeared in Gokula and did another līlā in Mother Yaśodā’s lap as a child. But Pūtanā, the witch, came as a beautiful lady and wanted to take Lord Kṛṣṇa in her lap and feed him milk. Pūtanā had smeared poison on her breast. Pūtanā was the sister of Kaṁsa. Her desire was to kill Kṛṣṇa. But Kṛṣṇa saw that she was showing lot of love, she was saying how beautiful is this child. But she was thinking that if ever I have a child; I would like to have child like Kṛṣṇa. I am feeling very sad that I have to kill this child. But Kṛṣṇa says in the Bhagavad-gītā, that in any way whoever comes to Me, I will reciprocate with them in the same way. Pūtanā wanted to kill Kṛṣṇa, and that is why Kṛṣṇa reciprocated and killed Pūtanā. But Pūtanā wanted to have a child like Kṛṣṇa, so Kṛṣṇa gave her the position of a mother in Vaikuṇṭhaloka. Kṛṣṇa gave such mercy! And Kṛṣṇa is the friend of everyone. If Kṛṣṇa kills someone then they are liberated and if someone is a devotee, that is also liberation.

One name of Kṛṣṇa is Triyuga. The meaning is Satya-yuga, Tretā-yuga and Dvāpara-yuga He comes. And there He manifests that He is God. But in the Kali-yuga He comes as a channa, hidden avatāra. But in Kali-yuga many people claim to be God. But the real God never said He was God. In Kali-yuga Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu came.

In Dvārakā, Rukmiṇī Devī told Kṛṣṇa, “You know everything. What Lord Brahmā is doing in Satya-loka, in Kailāsa what Mahādeva does You know, You know what is happening in all the unlimited universes. One thing you don’t know, Rādhārāṇī knows I know, but You don’t know.”

Kṛṣṇa was stumped no one had ever told Him there is something He did not know. He asked Rukmiṇī Devī, “What is that I don’t know?”

Then after long discussion Rukmiṇī said, “How the devotees love You, You don’t know. And how much they love You, You don’t know. There is no one above You. That is why You don’t know the love of the devotees. Rādhārāṇī knows, I know, but You don’t know.”

Then Kṛṣṇa said, “Okay! I will come as a devotee in Kali-yuga, I WILL COME AS A DEVOTEE, I WILL COME AS A DEVOTEE, I WILL COME AS A DEVOTEE!”

He came in the form of Gaurāṅga. Gaurāṅga! Gaurāṅga!

Every avatāra of the Lord has a particular mood. In the avatāra of Kapila Muni His mood was sāṅkhya-yoga. Lord Nārāyaṇa came in Badrinātha āśrama, in the mood of penance. Lord Rāma came in the mood of a king. Narasiṁhadeva came in an angry mood. Hiraṇyakaśipu was ill-treating His devotee, that is why He was angry. Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu, His mood is that of mercy. How many of you want Lord Caitanya’s mercy? Gaurāṅga! Gaurāṅga! Gaurāṅga! Nityānanda! Nityānanda! Nityānanda!

You will see on this stage there will be animals like tigers, elephants, deer and lions now! And in the Jhārikhaṇḍa forest with Lord Caitanya’s mercy the animals did kīrtana. We don’t have the ability to make animals do kīrtana, but at least we can try to make human beings do Harināma and we will be successful them. Now you will do some kīrtana? The yuga-dharma is Harināma saṅkīrtana.

Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare/
Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare!

iti ṣoḍaśakaṁ nāmnāṁ
kali-kalmaṣa-nāśanam
nātaḥ parataropāyaḥ
sarva-vedeṣu dṛśyate

harer nāma harer nāma
harer nāmaiva kevalam
kalau nāsty eva nāsty eva
nāsty eva gatir anyathā

In Kali-yuga the Hare Kṛṣṇa mahā-mantra, chanting the names of the Lord is the yuga-dharma. I desire that all of you experience this bliss in chanting. In this material body, we get both happiness and sadness. The happiness is very less and has a limit. The distress is unlimited. That is why Lord Kṛṣṇa said in the Bhagavad-gītā that this material world is duḥkhālayam. Duḥkhālayam aśāśvatam. Non-permanent happiness and non-permanent distress. So the heavenly planets have more happiness, the Madhya-loka above it has more happiness and more distress. In the lower lokas more distress and less happiness. So the devatas in the heavenly planets say they have so many problems, because they have so much happiness there that they forget God there. Sometimes the Lord fights with the demons.

Lord Caitanya told Lord Nityānanda that We have come from the spiritual world to liberate four types of people – the foolish, they think they are the body, they don’t know who they are, they are foolish; the lowborn, below the brāhmaṇa, kṣatriya, the brāhmaṇa and kṣatriya who work, they are also considered śūdras. Kṣatriya if he works is a śūdra. The third are fallen, sometimes they eat nonveg, they drink, gamble and illicit sex. The fourth are the distressed, who have a lot of problems. Lord Caitanya told Lord Nityānanda that We have come to liberate these four types of people. Are there any of you who come under any of these categories? That is why Lord Caitanya came. He went to Jhārikhaṇḍa. He appeared in Navadvīpa and then went to Jagannātha Purī. He toured South India. He wanted to go to Vṛndāvana and went through Jhārikhaṇḍa. He went to Gayā for doing śrāddhā and piṇḍa-dāna for His father. In Bihar His pastime of prema-bhakti manifested. Not in Navadvīpa. In Navadvīpa He was in the form of Nimāi Paṇḍita. In Bihar He took initiation and there He manifested love of Godhead. So Bihar, Jhārikhaṇḍa here the Lord performed many pastimes here. Thank you for coming to the program. The Safari devotees will be performing a drama for your entertainment.
