Hariḥ oṁ tat sat!

Hare Kṛṣṇa! Dear Devotees! Today we will continue with the compilation of Śrī Kṛṣṇa Caitanya Book. Today's chapter is entitled as:

Maidservant of Kṛṣṇa begging for love of Godhead from Haridāsa Ṭhākura is not surprising
Under the section: The Glories of Śrīla Haridāsa Ṭhākura

Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Antya-līlā 3.260

māyāra antarddhānaḥ—

upadeśa pāñā māyā calilā hañā prīta
e-saba kathāte kāro nā janme pratīta

Translation: After thus being instructed by Haridāsa Ṭhākura, Māyā left with great pleasure. Unfortunately, some people have no faith in these narrations.

Jayapatākā Swami: Some people think that these histories are not true. But actually they are all true histories and there is nothing unusual by a maidservant of Kṛṣṇa asking for Kṛṣṇa-prema. Haribol!

Srī Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Antya-līlā 3.261

aprākṛta viśvāsai śreyera kāraṇa :—

pratīta karite kahi kāraṇa ihāra
yāhāra śravaṇe haya viśvāsa sabāra

Translation: Therefore, I shall explain the reasons why people should have faith. Everyone who hears this will be faithful.

Jayapatākā Swami: So, why these should be believed is explained by Kṛṣṇadāsa Kavirāja.

Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Antya-līlā 3.262

kṛṣṇa-premapradātā caitanyera avatāre kṛṣṇapremalābhārtha sura-ṛṣi-ādi sakalera nararūpe janmagrahaṇaḥ—

caitanyāvatāre kṛṣṇa-preme lubdha hañā
brahma-śiva-sanakādi pṛthivīte janmiyā

Translation: During the incarnation of Lord Caitanya to inaugurate the Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement, even such personalities as Lord Brahmā, Lord Śiva and the four Kumāras took birth upon this earth, being allured by ecstatic love of Lord Kṛṣṇa.

Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Antya-līlā 3.263

kṛṣṇa-nāma lañā nāce, prema-vanyāya bhāse
nārada-prahlādādi āse manuṣya-prakāśe

Translation: All of them, including the great sage Nārada and devotees like Prahlāda, came here in the guise of human beings, chanting the holy names of Lord Kṛṣṇa together and dancing and floating in the inundation of love of Godhead.

Jayapatākā Swami: So, various great devas, great devotees, great māhā-bhāgavatas appeared as human being in order to participate in the pastimes of Lord Caitanya and taste the ecstasy of love of Kṛṣṇa.

Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Antya-līlā 3.264

lakṣmīprabhṛtirao nararūpe kṛṣṇapremāsvādanaḥ—

lakṣmī-ādi kari’ kṛṣṇa-preme lubdha hañā
nāma-prema āsvādilā manuṣye janmiyā

Translation: The goddess of fortune and others, allured by love of Kṛṣṇa, also came down in the form of human beings and tasted the holy name of the Lord in love.

Jayapatākā Swami: So, it was predicted in the eleventh canto of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam that Kṛṣṇa would come in another color. He would be accompanied by His associates, His energies, His expansions and that is why it is nothing amazing that all the personalities appeared.

Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Antya-līlā 3.265

svayaṃ kṛṣṇera svīya mādhurya-premera āsvādanaḥ—

anyera kā kathā, āpane vrajendra-nandana
avatari’ karena prema-rasa āsvādana

Translation: What to speak of others, even Kṛṣṇa, the son of Nanda Mahārāja, personally descends to taste the nectar of love of Godhead in the form of the chanting of Hare Kṛṣṇa.

Jayapatākā Swami: So, the highest pleasure even in the spiritual world is love of Kṛṣṇa and that became available by chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa because of Lord Caitanya. So, this is the greatest opportunity that we have to chant the Hare Kṛṣṇa māhā-mantra and taste the nectar of pure love for Kṛṣṇa.

Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Antya-līlā 3.266

māyādevīrao kṛṣṇa-premāsvādane lobha; ekamātra śuddhanāma o śuddha-kīrtanakārīra kṛpātei kṛṣṇa-premalābhaḥ—

māyā-dāsī ‘prema’ māge,—ithe ki vismaya?
‘sādhu-kṛpā’-‘nāma’ vinā ‘prema’ nā janmaya

Translation: What is the wonder if the maidservant of Kṛṣṇa, His external energy, begs for love of Godhead? Without the mercy of a devotee and without the chanting of the holy name of the Lord, love of Godhead cannot be possible.

Jayapatākā Swami: So, nothing is amazing if a devotee of Kṛṣṇa begs for the mercy and receive the mercy and blessings of devotees and therefore chants Hare Kṛṣṇa and gets love of Godhead.

Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Antya-līlā 3.267

caitanyāvatāre jagajjīvera kṛṣṇapremalābhaḥ—

caitanya-gosāñira līlāra ei ta’ svabhāva
tribhuvana nāce, gāya, pāñā prema-bhāva

Jayapatākā Swami: Lord Caitanya is Kṛṣṇa Himself and He came down to taste pure love for Kṛṣṇa. Kṛṣṇa wanted to taste the love His devotees have for Him and while He was tasting this love He was distributing freely to everyone and we should take this mercy and this is the most valuable thing.

Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Antya-līlā 3.268

kṛṣṇa-ādi, āra yata sthāvara-jaṅgame
kṛṣṇa-preme matta kare kṛṣṇa-saṅkīrtane

Translation: The holy name of Kṛṣṇa is so attractive that anyone who chants it — including all living entities, moving and nonmoving, and even Lord Kṛṣṇa Himself — becomes imbued with love of Kṛṣṇa. This is the effect of chanting the Hare Kṛṣṇa mahā-mantra.

Jayapatākā Swami: When Lord Caitanya went through the Jhārikhaṇḍa forest, all the animals, plants everyone chanted the Hare Kṛṣṇa. they all tasted love of Kṛṣṇa and lost their fearful nature.

Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Antya-līlā 3.269

śrautapanthāya gurumukhe granthakārera eisaba līlā varṇanaḥ —

svarūpa-gosāñi kaḍacāya ye-līlā likhila
raghunātha-dāsa-mukhe ye saba śunila

Translation: I have heard from the mouth of Raghunātha dāsa Gosvāmī all that Svarūpa Dāmodara Gosvāmī recorded in his notes about the pastimes of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu.

Jayapatākā Swami: So, this gives the secret how Kṛṣṇadāsa Kavirāja received this information about Lord Caitanya’s pastimes.

Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Antya-līlā 3.270

svīya dainyoktiḥ—

sei saba līlā kahi saṅkṣepa kariyā
caitanya-kṛpāte likhi kṣudra-jīva hañā

Translation: I have briefly described those pastimes. Whatever I have written is by the mercy of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu, since I am an insignificant living being.

Jayapatākā Swami: So, Kṛṣṇadāsa Kavirāja is a māhā-bhāgavata devotee of the Lord, but he is humbly explaining himself as insignificant jīva or insignificant living entity. So, this is the quality of a great devotee who is always humble.

Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Antya-līlā 3.271

nāmācārya ṭhākurera māhātmya-śravaṇe śuddhabhaktera ānandaḥ—

haridāsa ṭhākurera kahiluṅ mahimāra kaṇa
yāhāra śravaṇe bhaktera juḍāya śravaṇa

Translation: I have described but a fragment of the glories of Haridāsa Ṭhākura. Hearing this satisfies the aural reception of every devotee.

Jayapatākā Swami: These are very confidential subjects and these are actual facts of what happened. So, this is very encouraging for all the devotees to hear these pastimes on the glories of Haridāsa Ṭhākura. By this we can understand how fortunate we are to be in Lord Caitanya's movement.

Haribol! Thus ends the chapter entitled,

Maidservant of Kṛṣṇa begging for love of Godhead from Haridāsa Ṭhākura is not surprising
