Jayapatākā Swami: We hope that you also come to the Navadvīpa-maṇḍala parikramā. So what classes have you heard already? So you saw the six-handed form of Lord Caitanya? Actually, Sārvabhauma Bhaṭṭācārya is the avatāra of Bṛhaspati. He appeared in Navadvīpa. His idea was to participate in Lord Caitanya’s pastimes. But instead, he came to Jagannātha Purī. But Lord Caitanya knew his purpose, so he came to Him. When Lord Caitanya saw Jagannātha Baladeva Subhadrā Sudarśana cakra for the first time, He fainted in ecstasy. And the purohits and the guards thought He was crazy. But Sārvabhauma Bhaṭṭācārya seeing His qualities, he stopped Him and had Him taken to his house. [Audio break] finally they take birth as a human being with spiritual liking is very rare. Lord Caitanya taught bhārata-bhūmite haila manuṣya-janma yāra janma sārthaka kari' kara para-upakāra (Cc. Ādi 9.41). So what is that in Tamil? You have taken birth in a most auspicious place. Being born as a human being, when there are other citizens of India – dogs, mosquitos, birds, pūchchi (insect). That was the first word I learnt in Tamil - minni minni pūchchi! Then I learnt many more – kālai vaṇakkam – Good morning! And soukyama? How are you? Nanḍri! Thank you! So being born a human being is very special, we can chant the holy name. You can hear the classes, you can read the transcendental literatures, you can eat kṛṣṇa-prasāda, especially here in Jagannātha Purī, lots of Jagannātha-prasāda! And I heard that Jagannāthadeva He got the blessing that His hand will never dry. So they keep giving Him offerings all day so that His hand is always wet. But being a human being you can eat the prasāda.

There is a history, here Vimalā Devī is very important. Nārada Muni in Haridhāma in Vaikuṇṭha he was serving Lakṣmī Devī for 12 years. She said, “you have been serving so nicely! I will give you a blessing whatever you want!” He said, “I only want one thing, please give me a handful of Lord Nārāyaṇa’s Mahā-prasāda”. Because Lakṣmī Devī gets His mahā-prasāda. She said, “Oh, Lord Nārāyaṇa told Me, don’t give My mahā-prasāda to anyone.” So She was in great anxiety as She had promised Nārada Muni that you can get whatever you want but the mahā-prasāda of Lord Nārāyaṇa, He had told her not to give anyone. So then, Lord Nārāyaṇa could see that Mahā Lakṣmī was in anxiety. Vaikuṇṭha means no anxiety! So He asked her “Why are you anxious? What is the matter?” She said, “You see, I promised Nārada Muni whatever he wanted. He wants a handful of Your mahā-prasāda but You told Me not to give Your mahā-prasāda away to anyone.” Lord Nārāyaṇa said, “Alright, just don’t give it in front of Me.” So, She took the mahā-prasāda and gave it to Nārada Muni. Then Nārada Muni took the mahā-prasāda and ate it. He felt such ecstasy, he was like millions of suns, glowing, effulgent! Haribol! Haribol! Then, he was flying all over, effulgent, So he came over Kailāsa. Then Lord Śiva asked, “What happened to you?” He told everything that happened. “I had the mahā-prasāda of Lord Nārāyaṇa!” “So much bliss, wow! I never had so much bliss in my life! Nārada Muni said. Then Mahādeva said: “I thought we were friends. How much prasāda did you save for me?” Nārada Muni felt very ashamed. He did not save it for anybody. So, he hung his head. He saw that there was a little speck of prasāda in his finger nail. He said “I have a little bit, a kaṇikā, in my finger nail”. Then Lord Śiva, “Kaṇikā-mātram, give me a little bit!” Then Nārada Muni gave it to Lord Śiva and he ate it!” Haribol! Haribol! Haribol! Haribol! Lord Śiva was Naṭarāja, he started dancing! And he was dancing so furiously that the whole universe started shaking. Pārvatī was touring the universe. She saw that there were tsunamis even in the lower talas. She said “It is not time for the mahā-pralaya! Why is my husband dancing like that?” She went back to Kailāsa and Lord Śiva he had his eyes closed, he was dancing in ecstasy. She called him, “Svāmī, Svāmī!” then he stopped dancing and said, “I was in such ecstasy, why did you break it?” She said, “I am sorry, your dancing was starting universal destruction. I am very sorry. By the way, what caused your ecstasy?” He explained how Nārada Muni got the mahā-prasāda, how he got a speck. How he was feeling such ecstasy. Then Pārvatī said “I am your ardhāṅginī. You said so many things, I am very dear to you and all that. So you must have saved a little prasāda for me also?” He said “No!” She said, “Why not? Why not?” He said: “You are not qualified!” She said, “Why not? I am Vaiṣṇavī! I am Bhagavatī, what do you mean, I am not qualified?” She continued: “Oh, this is the worst suffering in the whole world! To be deprived of Nārāyaṇa’s prasāda! I want to see all the caṇḍālas, dogs, and everybody fed with Nārāyaṇa’s prasāda.” Sometimes we have husband and wife disagreement but this was very serious. Who can solve a disagreement between Lord Śiva and Pārvatī? So Lord Viṣṇu, Nārāyaṇa Himself, He had to come down. He called Pārvatī over. He said “I will appear as Dāru-Brahman” that is another name for Lord Jagannātha. “All My prasāda will be first offered to you”. In Māyāpur, in Vṛndāvana, Śiva and Pārvatī are both protectors of the Holy dhāmas. Here only Pārvatī. Śiva is in Bhubaneswar. That is why we get Jagannātha mahā-prasāda. Normally, the Deity’s prasāda is given to some guru or some mahā-bhāgavata and when we take it, it’s called mahā-mahā-prasāda. So, Lord Jagannātha-prasāda first goes to Vimalā Devī and then we get mahā-prasāda. Lord Caitanya came to distribute that prasāda. Haribol! Gaurāṅga! Gaurāṅga! Gaurāṅga!

Do you know that? Maybe! Anyway, that is why this prasāda is prasāda, we give it to anyone. So it is a very special prasāda. And the Deity was installed by Lord Brahmā. Anyway, I hope that you all take this valuable human birth very seriously. How many of you want prema-bhakti? More ladies than men, looks like who raised their hands! Who wants prema-bhakti? I am very happy that you are visiting the holy dhāma. And I hope that you enjoy hearing all the beautiful pastimes.

People like to hear and read the pastimes of stars etc. of Bollywood, Hollywood. What is the cinema studios in Tamil Nadu called – Tollywood! So we hear about different devas, different great people, but actually to hear things in connection with Lord Viṣṇu is very special. Pārvatī asked Lord Śiva, “There are so many types of worship, which is best?” Lord Śiva said “ārādhanānāṁ sarveṣāṁ viṣṇor ārādhanaṁ param tasmāt parataraṁ devī” But there is one exception, my dear goddess.” Tadīyānāṁ samarcanam - Those things connected with Lord Viṣṇu. We talk about Pārvatī and Mahādeva in connection with Lord Viṣṇu, that is very special. Haribol!

Anyway, I don’t know where you are scheduled to go anywhere else today? You are going to see Haridāsa Ṭhākura. He is actually the incarnation of Lord Brahmā. After he stole the calves and the cowherds in Vṛndāvana, he went to Antardvīpa in Māyāpur. Because he heard that Lord Caitanya is always there in His aprakaṭa-līlā. So he started chanting: Gaurāṅga! Gaurāṅga! Gaurāṅga! Gaurāṅga! Gaurāṅga! Gaurāṅga! Gaurāṅga! Gaurāṅga! Gaurāṅga!” Haribol! And Lord Caitanya appeared. He asked him what he wanted. He said, half my life is gone, I am in the dvitiya-parana [?]. I am still committing offences to You. I heard You are coming in Kali-yuga and giving out freely love of Kṛṣṇa. So I want to be purified of this tendency to commit offences. I want to have love of Godhead. I want to be Your associate. Lord Caitanya said, “tathāstaḥ, So Be It”. You will appear in a non-Hindu family, just to teach you humility and to prevent you from committing any offences again. You will chant 300,000 names of Kṛṣṇa every day. This will give you love of Godhead. Kṛṣṇa-prema! And you will be My associate. That is Haridāsa Ṭhākura.
