29 May 2022|Duration: 00:16:36|English|Public Address

The following is an evening Puṣpābhiṣeka address given by His Holiness Jayapatākā Swami Mahārāja on May 29th, 2022 in Chennai, India.

Jayapatākā Swami: Today we are celebrating the 10th anniversary of this temple. So many sevaites, donors, have participated to see this temple built. The success of this temple is that you are all here. Lord Caitanya wanted people to chant Hare Kṛṣṇa. But you are having the temple to give you the facility to come and chant together. Chanting, hearing, is śravaṇam, kīrtanam. Worshiping the Deity, seeing the Deity abhiṣeka, is arcanam. We want all the devotees to practice bhakti-yoga, the nine practices of devotional service. I am glad to see how enthusiastically you are chanting. You are all very fortunate having His Holiness Bhānu Swami here, he is a very senior devotee, initiated by Śrīla Prabhupāda. Today we saw the Deities having Puṣpābhiṣeka. Some of you could see all the Deities, I could see only Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa! Of course, we have Nitāi-Gaura, Rādhā-Kṛṣṇa, Lalitā Viśākhā, Kṛṣṇa-Rukmiṇī-Satyabhāmā, Jagannātha, Baladeva, Subhadrā, Sudarśana cakra, Narasiṁhadeva. If you can develop your love for these Deities, that will be the perfection of your lives. Here I heard they had very nice dramas for two days. There are many Bhakti-vṛkṣa groups here. How many of you are members of the Bhakti-vṛkṣa groups? Raise your hand. Some people, they did not raise their hand. Contact Raṅga Kṛṣṇa dāsa and go to a Bhakti-vṛkṣa near your house. The secret is to always remember Kṛṣṇa, always chant Hare Kṛṣṇa and read Śrīla Prabhupāda’s books. Bhagavad-gītā As It Is, everyone, that is a national book. In Delhi, they gave a huge Bhagavad-gītā, the biggest Bhagavad-gītā in the world! And the Bhagavad-gītā in Delhi was inaugurated by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. If any of you go to Delhi you can see the exhibition there. So like this Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, the Bhāgavata Purāṇa is another book to read. The grandson of Arjuna sacrificed his life to hear Śrīmad-Bhāgavata Purāṇa. I saw Śrīla Prabhupāda translating that Bhāgavatam from Sanskrit to English. And by His Holiness Bhānu Swami’s initiative, that Bhāgavatam has been translated into Tamil! Haribol! Someone asked me, does Kṛṣṇa know Tamil? He knows every language, not only Tamil. You can pray to Kṛṣṇa in Tamil. Hindi also! Every language! So we want you to read these books, Caitanya-caritāmṛta, if you want to find out about Lord Caitanya, you should read the Caitanya-caritāmṛta. So, this 10th anniversary is very significant, and we thank you all for being here. Did you like the puṣpābhiṣeka? Haribol! In Māyāpur we do puṣpābhiṣeka for the small Deities. Here the big main Deities, they got puṣpābhiṣeka! Haribol! Haribol! So, in 2024 we will have the Mahā-Kumbhābhiṣeka, the 12th year anniversary. They keep asking me to sing but my voice is a little bit down. I will say the mantra twice.
