Śrī Caitanya-bhāgavata, Madhya 1.297

tina putra tāṅra kṛṣṇa-pada-makaranda
kṛṣṇānanda, jīva, yadunātha-kavicandra

Translation: His three sons—Kṛṣṇānanda, Jīva, and Yadunātha Kavicandra—were like bees at the lotus feet of Kṛṣṇa.

Commentary: Kṛṣṇānanda was one of Gaṅgādāsa Paṇḍita’s main students (Ādi-khaṇḍa 8.38). He joined the Lord and His associates in sporting in the waters of the Ganges after the deliverance of Jagāi and Mādhāi (Madhya-khaṇḍa 13.337), and he was an associate of Nityānanda Prabhu (Cc. Ādi 11.50).

Regarding Jīva (Paṇḍita), the Antya-khaṇḍa (5.751) states: “Jīva Paṇḍita was magnanimous and most fortunate. Lord Nityānanda enjoyed various pastimes in his house.” The Caitanya-caritāmṛta (Ādi 11.44) states: “Śrī Jīva Paṇḍita glorified the qualities of Śrī Nityānanda Prabhu.” According to the Gaura-gaṇoddeśa-dīpikā (169) he appeared in the pastimes of Kṛṣṇa as the Vrajavāsī named Indirā.

Regarding Yadunātha Kavicandra, the Antya-khaṇḍa (5.735) states: “Yadunātha Kavicandra was full of the transcendental mellows of love for Kṛṣṇa. Nityānanda constantly showered His mercy on him.” In the Caitanya-caritāmṛta (Ādi 11.35) it is stated: “Yadunātha Kavicandra was a great devotee. Lord Nityānanda Prabhu always danced in his heart.”

Jayapatākā Swami: Ratnagarbha had three sons. They had names Kṛṣṇānanda, Jīva, and Yadunātha Kavicandra. The three sons like bees taking honey from the lotus feet of Kṛṣṇa. Their names were Kṛṣṇānanda, Jīva, Yadunātha Kavicandra.

Kṛṣṇānanda was one of Gaṅgādāsa Paṇḍita’s main students. He joined the Lord and His associates sporting in the waters of the Ganges. After the deliverance of Jagāi and Mādhāi he was an associate of Nityānanda Prabhu. Regarding Jīva Paṇḍita, it says he was magnanimous and most fortunate. Lord Nityānanda enjoyed various pastimes in his house. In the Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Ādi-līlā 11.44 states Śrī Jīva Paṇḍita glorified the qualities of Nityānanda Prabhu. In Gaura-gaṇoddeśa-dīpikā he appeared in the pastimes of Kṛṣṇa as the vraja-vāsī named Indrā. Yadunath Kavichandra was full of transcendental mellows of love for Kṛṣṇa. Nityananda constantly showered His mercy on him. In the Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Ādi-līlā 11.25 it is stated that Yadunātha Kavicandra was a great devotee. Lord Nityānanda Prabhu always danced in his heart. So these residents of Navadvīpa, neighbors of Lord Caitanya were devotees eternally, nitya-siddhas.

Śrī Caitanya-bhāgavata, Madhya 1.298

ratnagarbhera bhāgavata-śloka-paṭhana—

bhāgavata parama ādare dvija-vara
bhāgavata-śloka paḍe kariyā ādara

Translation: That topmost brāhmaṇa had the highest respect for the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, and he would recite the verses of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam with great affection.

Jayapatākā Swami: This topmost brāhmaṇa had the highest respect for the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam and he would recite the Bhāgavata ślokas with great respect.

Śrī Caitanya-bhāgavata, Madhya 1.299

When the hungry cowherd boys requested Kṛṣṇa for some food, He sent them to some brāhmaṇas who were performing sacrifices nearby, but they were turned away by the brāhmaṇas because they considered Kṛṣṇa an ordinary mortal being. Disappointed, the cowherd boys returned to Kṛṣṇa, who then sent them to the wives of those brāhmaṇas. As soon as those brāhmaṇas’ wives, who were spontaneously attracted to hearing the transcendental qualities of Kṛṣṇa, heard of Kṛṣṇa’s appeal for food, they immediately took innumerable foodstuffs of four types with them and, in spite of being obstructed by their husbands, brothers, and friends, they came to Kṛṣṇa with unmotivated and uninterrupted devotion like a river naturally flows to the ocean and saw Him as follows:

yājñika-vipra-patnīgaṇera kṛṣṇarūpa-darśana tathāhi (bhāḥ 10/23/22)

śyāmaṁ hiraṇya-paridhiṁ vanamālya-barha-
dhātu-pravāla-naṭa-veṣam anavratāṁse
vinyasta-hastam itareṇa dhunānam abjaṁkarṇot
palālaka-kapola-mukhābja-hāsam

Translation: “His complexion was dark blue and His garment golden. Wearing a peacock feather, colored minerals, sprigs of flower buds, and a garland of forest flowers and leaves, He was dressed just like a dramatic dancer. He rested one hand upon the shoulder of a friend and with the other twirled a lotus. Lilies graced His ears, His hair hung down over His cheeks, and His lotuslike face was smiling.”

Jayapatākā Swami: There is a verse in the 10th canto of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam chapter 23, 22nd verse where it says: “His complexion was dark blue and His garment golden. Wearing a peacock feather, coloured minerals, sprigs of flower buds, and a garland of forest flowers and leaves, He was dressed just like a dramatic dancer. He rested one hand upon the shoulder of a friend and with the other twirled a lotus. Lilies graced His ears, His hair hung down over His cheeks, and His lotus like face was smiling.”

The cowherd friends of Kṛṣṇa were hungry. They requested Kṛṣṇa for some food. He sent them to some brāhmaṇas who were performing sacrifices nearby. But they were turned away by the brāhmaṇas because they considered Kṛṣṇa as a mortal. Disappointed the cowherd boys returned to Kṛṣṇa. Then He sent them to the wives of those brāhmaṇas. As soon as these brāhmaṇas’ wives were spontaneously attracted to hearing the transcendental qualities of Kṛṣṇa, heard that Kṛṣṇa has appealed for food, then they made and took foodstuffs with them. In spite of being obstructed by the residents and friends, they came to Kṛṣṇa with unmotivated and uninterrupted devotion, like everyone froze with devotion and saw Him as follows.

Translation: The earth became soaked with the tears of the Lord, who manifest ecstatic symptoms like tears, shivering, and hairs standing on end.

Commentary: The word suvidita means “they were clearly manifest.”

Jayapatākā Swami: So the lotus eyes of the Lord, produced so many tears that the earth was soaked by the symptoms of crying and trembling, hairs standing on end all over, were manifesting. Translation: Ratnagarbha wept aloud as he clasped the Lord’s feet. Thus the brāhmaṇa was ensnared in the network of Lord Caitanya’s love.

Commentary: The second line of this verse means “to be captured by the bondage of love.”

Jayapatākā Swami: So Ratnagarbha held the lotus feet of Lord Viśvambhara and he wept loudly. The brāhmaṇa was tied up in Lord Caitanya’s network of pure love. In other words, he was captured by the bondage of love.

Commentary: The word kṛta-kṛtya means “successful,” “glorious,” “satisfied,” “fulfilled in desire,” “successful attempt,” or “learned.”

Jayapatākā Swami: The Lord asked, have I been restless? His students all responded, “Your actions are glorious!” So the original Bengali is kṛta-kṛtya which means successful, glorious, satisfied. So fulfilled the desire. So the students were all amazed with Lord Viśvambhara’s action, but now they were appreciating that His actions of love were truly glorious.

Śrī Caitanya-bhāgavata, Madhya 1.315

Śrī Caitanya-bhāgavata, Madhya 1.316

chātragaṇa-saha prabhura gaṅgātaṭe gamana o kṛṣṇa-prasaṅga—
bāhya pāi’ viśvambhara āpanā sambare
sarva-gaṇe calilena gaṅgā dekhibāre

Translation: Upon regaining His consciousness, Viśvambhara restrained Himself. Thereafter He went with His associates to see the Ganges.

Jayapatākā Swami: Upon regaining His external consciousness, the Lord restrained Himself. He took all the associates with Him and went to see the Ganges.

So we will stop here.

He is going to see the Ganges.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata verse Madhya-kāṇḍa 1.317.

So Lord Viśvambhara, He was manifesting extreme ecstasy when He heard the glories of Lord Kṛṣṇa. And if they had kept on glorifying Kṛṣṇa He would have stayed in His internal consciousness for a long time, but Gadādhara Prabhu interrupted and said don’t say any more. So now Nimāi Paṇḍita after coming back from Gayā after initiation, He is manifesting love for Kṛṣṇa in the most exceptional way. So by hearing these ecstasies we can also understand how wonderful Kṛṣṇa is. We don’t know because we are very much in illusion but by the mercy of Lord Caitanya and the spiritual master, we can quickly awaken our dormant love of Kṛṣṇa.

Hare Kṛṣṇa!
