Highlights
I continue to be in Dallas. I was supposed to go for the Sādhu-saṅga retreat in New Orleans, but because of my health situation, my health team advised me not to travel at this time. So, I sent them a recorded message. I went to the ISKCON Dallas Temple and gave a Sunday Feast class. We also showed some newly developed preaching videos and asked the devotees for their feedback. There was also an initiation ceremony scheduled.
I had my skin treatment done, and I have one more session on the 11th of June. Whenever I go for treatment or dialysis, we distribute Śrīla Prabhupāda’s books and prasāda, and also discuss with people about Kṛṣṇa consciousness. One of my doctors, who is a religious Christian, I had a nice conversation with him about God consciousness, and also we are having email exchanges where we discuss and share about serving God and chanting His holy name.
I am also attending all the meetings, though it is sometimes very early in the morning, due to the time difference from India. I am still trying to attend all the meetings and continue my services to Śrīla Prabhupāda.
Apart from these, every day I meet devotees. Some of the local devotees and leaders came and they presented their preaching reports and updated me about their activities.
Śrīla Prabhupāda’s Message
“...The idea is that everyone should be very serious. It is a very serious engagement...so we should not be lacking. Although, pratyakṣāvagamaṁ dharmyaṁ/su-sukhaṁ kartum avyayam [Bg. 9.2] Whatever you have done, it will be never lost. My Guru Mahārāja used to say—he was stressing on this point—that “Do not wait for another birth. Finish this business in this birth.” That was his recommendation. Although, whatever you are doing, it will never be lost. Suppose you have to do one hundred points. If you have finished fifty points, sixty points, that will never be lost.
That’s a fact. But why should you wait for another thirty or forty points, another life? That is botheration. …Everyone should be very serious that in this life we shall finish this hundred points or do some service and return back to Kṛṣṇa, back to home, back to Godhead.”
—Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 6.2.45, January 29, 1971, Prayāga.
“My request is that you continue your devotional service very faithfully and rigidly, then in this life you will be able to see Kṛṣṇa face to face. That is a fact.”
—Departure Lecture, February 25, 1975, Caracas
My Message
Śrīla Prabhupāda asked me to make 50,000 plus disciples, and with that comes the responsibility of delivering all of you and I want all my disciples to go back to Godhead.
I have recommended some ways you can follow, in addition to chanting 16 rounds and following the four regulative principles. which will help you.
- If you don’t have Gāyatrī, chant one round each at tri-sandhyā.
- Give a minimum of 11% of your income to Kṛṣṇa consciousness. This can include expenses for your personal services, donation to dīkṣā-guru, śikṣā-guru, to the local temple, to different ISKCON projects, to buy Śrīla Prabhupāda’s books, etc.
Husband and wife, if they are both Kṛṣṇa conscious, they can think together and work out what they give out. For instance, if they want to make a donation of 50 rupees or 50 dollars, and if they give to 100 people, that will be 5000 rupees or 5000 dollars. Like that, maybe one gives dīkṣā-guru 500 rupees, to their local temple 1000 rupees, maybe they could divide up their donation.
- Offer all your work to Lord Kṛṣṇa.
- Take shelter of the holy name. Holy name is our best friend.
- One can have four or five śikṣā-gurus and take guidance from them to progress in Kṛṣṇa consciousness.
In Kali-yuga, the holy name is the only way and if we chant the holy name, we can go back to Godhead.
Inspirational Stories
I am receiving many reports from devotees that after the Vyāsa-pūjā lecture I gave in April, many have started chanting three rounds during the three sandhyā and also many have started giving 11% of their income to Kṛṣṇa’s service. This is very encouraging.
I also received some reports of Puruṣottama month outreach programs. Balarāma Govinda dāsa wrote to me that in Madurai they had a two-day program called “Harināma-saṅga Utsava” where about 2,400 new people chanted one round of Hare Kṛṣṇa mahā-mantra, and they took a saṅkalpa of chanting one round daily. They also have made plans to contact and cultivate these new contacts.
Now, for almost a month I have been sending daily japa meditation messages on my Jayapatākā Swami App, so I hope you are reading it and you are engaged in chanting without offenses.
Someone wrote to me that they were taking sleeping pills and antidepressants for almost ten years, but now, after starting to chant the Hare Kṛṣṇa mahā-mantra daily, they do not need any more sleeping pills or antidepressants. Harināma is the best medicine for all our problems!
This is Puruṣottama month, and any spiritual activities we do, we get a thousand times more benefit. There is a video produced by the JPS Media about Puruṣottama month, which is less than two minutes. (https://youtube.com/shorts/vYR82eWghXE?si=S24mBCXVbnd6mqQT) We have two more weeks left in Puruṣottama month!
All devotees should take advantage of Lord Caitanya’s mercy. He gave the saṅkīrtana and by this process we can achieve Kṛṣṇa’s lotus feet in one lifetime. So this is a very great mercy.
I hope this finds you in good health and blissful Kṛṣṇa consciousness.
Your well-wisher always,
Jayapatākā Swami
