20230411 Question and Answer Session

The following is a Question & Answer Session given by His Holiness Jayapatākā Swami Mahārāja on April 11th, 2023 in Dallas, Texas, USA.

Jayapatākā Swami: Any questions? One man and one woman. Ladies first

Question: You have mentioned that Kṛṣṇa and Rādhārāṇī and Balarāma cannot be on the same altar. What is the reason for that?

Jayapatākā Swami: You see the custom in India is that the elder brother, the wife, should not be present where the elder brother is present. And since Balarāma is the elder brother of Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa and His consort should not be along with Balarāma. Kṛṣṇa could be with Balarāma but not with the consort. The consort should not be. That is why in the same temple, in the Ṭoṭā Gopīnātha you have Rādhā and Ṭoṭā Gopīnātha. We have also Revatī and Balarāma but in a different altar.

Question: We are reading that all these Svarūpas are mentioned in the Gauḍa-gaṇoddeśa-dīpikā, who has revealed all these in the dīpikā?

Jayapatākā Swami: The writer. One who wrote it down! One of the associates of Lord Nityānanda, He analyzed the different pastimes. Just off the head I don’t remember his name. I could find out.  I don’t want to guess. Kavi Karṇapura we went to his temple he has Jagannātha Baladeva Subhadrā in a village called Maheśa. But the Deity in the temple was closed. We arrived too late. So we were circumambulated the temple and the door opened!  So he wrote some book but I don’t know if he wrote the Gaura-gaṇoddeśa-dīpikā. I can find it tomorrow.

Hare Kṛṣṇa! Just by hearing the names of the associates we can every easily get love of Kṛṣṇa. And they are mentioned in great detail in the Caitanya-caritāmṛta. So here we have Caitanya-bhāgavata where they have mentioned and then the Caitanya-caritāmṛta where they are mentioned in great detail. This Caitanya Book is a compilation of all the books after I translate, the devotees in Māyāpur they have to compile it.
