The following is a Q&A Session by His Holiness Jayapatākā Swami on 4th March, 2022 in Śrī Māyāpur, India.

Question: Dearmost Gurumahārāja, please accept my humble obeisances unto your lotus feet. My question is in the Bhagavad-gītā 18.44, it is said that kṣatriyas’ work is to fight, vaiśyas’ work is to do business and farming, and for śūdras there is labor work. So is this statement true for both men and women? —Your unworthy insignificant daughter

Jayapatākā Swami: The varṇāśrama system is mainly for the men. The ladies generally serve the husbands. When the lady has taken birth in the family, then to some extent the caste of the family is considered. At the same time, Lord Kṛṣṇa said that ladies, vaiśyas, śūdras can all reach the supreme destination, simply if they surrender unto Lord Kṛṣṇa.

Question: Does holy month of Puruṣottama māsā multiply any activity by thousand times? Kindly guide how to understand this and apply it better into our lives. —Gīteśvarī Viṣṇupriyā devī dāsī and Kairavacandrika devī dāsī, Delhi, India

Jayapatākā Swami: The Puruṣottama month comes every three years. Kṛṣṇa has declared that He is adopting the Puruṣottama month. Therefore, it has His name, Puruṣottama. So that way in the month of Vaiśākha or Dāmodara Kārtika, one gets a 100 times the benefit of different activities. But in the Puruṣottama month one can get a 1000 times the benefit. Now this is because this month is very dear to Kṛṣṇa.
