Translation: Throughout Nīlācala the news spread: “Lord Caitanya, The crest jewel of sannyāsīs has returned.”

Jayapatākā Swami: wherever the Lord went, the devotees were extremely happy to have the Lord’s association, so when He returned to Nīlācala, the devotees there were immensely happy.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 5.126

mahānande sarva-loke ‘jaya jaya’ bale
“Jaya! Jaya! “āilā sacala-jagannātha nīlacale

Jayapatākā Swami: In great ecstasy everyone exclaimed, “Jaya! Jaya! The moving Jagannātha has come to Nīlācala.” So Lord Jagannātha is Kṛṣṇa Himself in arca-avatāra , but He is not so moving. Lord Caitanya is Kṛṣṇa also, but He is moving.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 5.127

prabhura āgamanavārtā śravaṇe sārvabhaumādira prabhura sahita sākṣāt—

Jayapatākā Swami: When Sārvabhauma Bhaṭṭācārya and the other associates of Lord Caitanya in Utkala heard the news, they immediately went to see Lord Caitanya.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 5.128

prabhu o bhakta-sammelana—
cira-dina prabhura virahe bhakta-gaṇa
ānande prabhure dekhi’ karena kīrtana

Jayapatākā Swami: The devotees had been afflicted for many days with feelings of separation from Lord Caitanya. Now, on seeing the Lord, they joyfully began kīrtana. Lord Caitanya came to establish the congregational chanting of the holy name – saṅkīrtana. And when He came back to Jagannath Purī, the devotees spontaneously started to chant and dance.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 5.129

prabhu o sabāre mahā-preme kari’ kole
siñcilā sabāra aṅga nayanera jale

Jayapatākā Swami: Lord Caitanya embraced everyone with great affection and soaked them with tears from His eyes. So, Lord Caitanya was so happy to see His devotees and with great love He embraced them each and cried profusely and in this way they were soaked by the tears of love from Lord Caitanya.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 5.130

prakāśena gauracandra, dekhe sarva-deśa

Jayapatākā Swami: People from all provinces saw Lord Gauracandra become overwhelmed with ecstasy while constantly dancing and singing. So, Lord Caitanya was always ecstatic chanting the holy names of the Lord, so people saw that and participated in it.

kakhana nācena mahāprabhu sindhu-tīre

Jayapatākā Swami: Sometimes Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu danced at the house of Kāśī Miśra, and sometimes He danced on the shore of the ocean. So, we see that Lord Caitanya was sometimes chanting and dancing in front of Lord Jagannātha and sometimes in the house of Kāśī Miśra and sometimes He danced on the shore of the ocean.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 5.134

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 5.136

jagannātha dekhite ye prakāśena prema
akathya adbhuta!—gaṅgādhārā vahe yena

Jayapatākā Swami: The ecstatic love Lord Caitanya manifested while seeing Lord Jagannātha was wonderful and indescribable. Tears flowed from His eyes like currents of the Ganges. Lord Caitanya’s mood of pure love for Kṛṣṇa was something wonderful and indescribable.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 5.137

dekhiyā adbhuta saba utkalera loka
kāro dehe āra nāhi rahe duḥkha-śoka

Jayapatākā Swami: The people of Utkala were amazed to see this, and as a result they did not feel any bodily distress or lamentation. So, the presence of Lord Caitanya eradicated all the material pangs of lamentation and sufferings and people were overwhelmed with ecstatic love.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 5.138

ye dike caitanya mahāprabhu cali’ yāya
sei dike sarva-loka ‘hari hari’ gāya

Jayapatākā Swami: On whatever path Caitanya Mahāprabhu traveled, everyone would begin to chant the name of Hari bol! Hari Bol!

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 5.139

prabhu-sandarśanārtha svīya rājadhānī ‘kaṭaka’ haite pratāparudrera āgamana—
pratāparudrera sthāne haila gocara
“nīlācale āilena śrī-gaurasundara”

Jayapatākā Swami: Soon King Pratāparudra came to know: “Lord Śrī Gaurasundara has come to Nīlācala.”

kaṭaka chāḍiyā āilena jagannātha

Jayapatākā Swami: As soon as he heard this news, King Pratāparudra left Cuttack and came to Jagannātha Purī.

Purport: Pratāparudra, who was a king in the Gaṅgā dynasty, lived in his capital of Cuttack during the time of Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu. On hearing the news of Gaurasundara’s arrival, he came from Cuttack to Purī.

Jayapatākā Swami: We previously heard how King Pratāparudra was a great devotee of Lord Caitanya, as soon as He heard that Lord Caitanya had come back to Nīlācala, he immediately went to Purī.

By Śrīla Bhaktivinoda Ṭhakura

Translation: Leaving His Orissan associates at the border, He went to Bengal. I meditate on Śacī-devī's divine son.

Śrī Śrīmad Gaurāṅga-līlā-smaraṇa-maṅgala-stotram 50

Translation: I meditate on Lord Gaura, who saw Śrīvāsa Thākura, Vāsudeva dātta, and Rāghava Paṇḍita at their homes, and then went on to Śāntipura.

Śrī Śrīmad Gaurāṅga-līlā-smaraṇa-maṅgala-stotram 51

Translation: I worship Lord Gaura, who visited the home of Vidyāvācaspatī dāsa in Vidyānagara and then went to Kuliyā-grāma and Navadvīpa.

Śrī Śrīmad Gaurāṅga-līlā-smaraṇa-maṅgala-stotram, 52

Translation: Because he humbly worshiped the devotees, Devānanda in Kuliya-nagara attained Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu's mercy, which cannot be purchased by any amount of wealth, followers, beauty or learning. I bow down before Lord Gaura, who is only attained by the pure devotional service of the pure and the wise.

Jayapatākā Swami: Since Devānanda Paṇḍita has served Vakreśvara Paṇḍita he was blessed by Lord Caitanya. So Lord Caitanya can only be attained by serving His devotees.

Śrī Śrīmad Gaurāṅga-līlā-smaraṇa-maṅgala-stotram, 53

Translation: On the pretext of going to see Vṛndāvana, He affectionately saw His mother in the land of Bengal, delivered Rūpa Gosvāmī and his elder brother (Sanātana Gosvāmī) from the mouth of the moslems, and then returned to Orissa. I meditate on Lord Gaurāṅga, the independent Supreme Personality of Godhead, whose heart becomes joyful to deliver the devotees.

Jayapatākā Swami: Every avatar has a particular quality and the quality So quality of Lord Caitanya is that He gives mercy out. On His quick visit to Bengal He gave His mercy to Śacī Mātā, Rūpa and Sanātana and different devotees, and then He came back to Nīlācala.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 5.123

sabāra kariyā manoratha pūrṇa kāma
punaḥāilena prabhu nīlācala-dhāma

Jayapatākā Swami: Lord Caitanya fulfilled everyone’s desires and then returned to Nīlācala.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 5.124

gauḍa-deśe punar-bāra prabhura vihara
ihā ye śunaye tāra duḥkha nahe āra

Jayapatākā Swami: One who hears these pastimes of the Lord Caitanya’s return to Bengal will never suffer any distress. So, hearing these pastimes of the Lord gives special blessings and the blessings one gets by hearing the pastime of Lord Caitanya's visit to Bengal, will never suffer distress or sadness again. How the Lord, He gave His mercy out freely to the devotees in Bengal, this is His special pastime.
