When he went there, the deity of Gopīnātha stole a pot of kṣīra for him, so the deity is known as Kṣīracorā Gopīnātha. So, this pastime was known to Lord Nityānanda and He told that to Lord Caitanya and all the others. Now that He is going there again, the pujaris of the Gopīnātha temple remembered Him and they offered Him all respects.

śuniyā vaiṣṇava-mane bāḍila ānanda
Translation: This same narration was again related by Lord Nityānanda to all the devotees, and their transcendental bliss increased as they heard the story again.
Purport: The words mahāprabhura mukhe, “from the mouth of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu,” are significant because Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu first heard the story of Mādhavendra Purī from His spiritual master, Śrīpāda Īśvara Purī. (See Madhya-līlā, chapter four, verse 18.) After staying at Śrī Advaita’s house in Śāntipura for some time, the Lord narrated the story of Mādhavendra Purī to Nityānanda Prabhu Jagadānanda Prabhu, Dāmodara Paṇḍita and Mukunda dāsa. When they went to Remuṇā, to the temple of Gopīnātha, He described Mādhavendra Purī’s installation of the Gopāla Deity as well as Gopīnātha’s stealing condensed milk. Due to this incident, Lord Gopīnātha became well known as Kṣīracorā, the thief who stole condensed milk.
Jayapatākā Swami: So, Lord Caitanya heard this story from Īśvara Purī Mahārāja and He related this story to Lord Nityānanda and others. Now Lord Nityānanda was telling this to the other devotees. So, we understand like this. We can go on telling the different pastimes of the Lord. its always fresh and ecstatic, and in this way one can be always thinking about Lord Kṛṣṇa, remembering His qualities and His pastimes.
Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Madhya-līlā 16.35

śuniyā vaiṣṇava-mane bāḍila ānanda
Translation: When Nityānanda Prabhu described all the activities of Sākṣi-gopāla, transcendental bliss increased in the minds of all the Vaiṣṇavas.
Jayapatākā Swami: So, the devotees were so happy to hear the pastimes of Sākṣi-Gopāla, and hearing this pastimes of the Lord, their spiritual bliss increased.
Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Madhya-līlā 16.37
prabhu-darśana- vyagra sakalerai drutagatite purīte āgamana:—
prabhuke milite sabāra utkaṇṭhā antare
śīghra kari’ āilā sabe śrī-nīlācale
Translation: Everyone in the party was very anxious at heart to see Caitanya Mahāprabhu; therefore they hastily went on to Jagannātha Purī.
Jayapatākā Swami: So, all the residents of Bengal were very eager to see Lord Caitanya and thus they hastily went to Nīlācala and their love for the Lord is beyond any ability to express. So, that’s why we pray that we can have a little of dust from the lotus feet of these associates and naturally we also feel same kind of ecstatic love for the Lord, and wanting to serve Him.
