āsiyā mililā tīrtha-paryaṭana kari'

Translation: After a few days Paramānanda Purī returned after completing his pilgrimage.

Jayapatākā Swami: So, the way of travelling in those days was by foot, of course very wealthy people may have palanquins but still basically by foot. So, to cover the distance from Navadvīpa to Jagannātha Purī, one would walk very fast but still take may be a month or twenty to thirty days.

Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Madhya-līlā 10.94

Translation: On seeing Paramānanda Purī from a distance, Lord Gaurāṅga stood up with respect.

Jayapatākā Swami: Since, Paramānanda Purī was a disciple of Mādhavendra Purī, it meant he was that Lord Caitanya’s spiritual uncle. Naturally Lord Caitanya would stand up to him.

saphala āmāra āji haila sarva dharma”

Jayapatākā Swami: “Today My eyes were auspicious and My life is fruitful and auspiciouṣ Today all My religious activities have become successful.”

Purport: In this regard one should see Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam (10.84.9-10 and 10.84.21). In Śrī Hari-bhakti-sudhodaya (13.2) it is stated:

“My dear Vaiṣṇava, seeing a person like you is the perfection of one's eyesight, touching your lotus feet is the perfection of the sense of touch, and glorifying your good qualities is the tongue's real activity, for in the material world it is very difficult to find a pure devotee of the Lord. ” In the Caitanya-caritāmṛta (Madhya 20.60) Caitanya Mahāprabhu has declared:

“By seeing you, by touching you, and by glorifying your transcendental qualities, one can perfect the purpose of all sense activity. This is the verdict of the revealed scriptures.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.172

Jayapatākā Swami: The Lord then said, “Today My acceptance of sannyāsa has borne fruit, today Śrī Mādhavendra Purī has manifested before Me.”

Purport: After seeing Śrī Paramānanda Purī, who was an intimate disciple of Śrī Mādhavendra Purī, thoughts of Mādhavendra Purī were awakened in Śrī Gaurasundara.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.173

eta bali' priya-bhakta lai' prabhu kole
siñcilena aṅga tāna padma-netra-jale

Jayapatākā Swami: After speaking these words, Lord Caitanya embraced His dear devotee and soaked his body with tears of love from His lotus eyes.

Purport: The word siñcilena means “soaked.”

Caitanya Candrodaya Nāṭaka 8.28: A Voice from Behind the Scenes: Holding a sannyāsī-daṇḍa to punish the sinful, Paramānanda Purī has now come before us. The sight of him is nectar for the eyes.

My heart yearns for this. Perhaps, after a long time, the time will come when this desire will bear fruit. I do not know what kind of fruit the tree of auspiciousness will bear for me then.

(He walks)

Translation: O Lord Jagannātha, please forgive me. Without seeing You first, I immediately went to see Śrī Kṛṣṇa Caitanya. You know everything, so You also know the very strong desire in my heart.

(He looks ahead)

Translation: Ah! The Lord will be coming to this place, because...

Caitanya Candrodaya Nāṭaka 8.33

Translation: A great tumultuous sound has risen from the direction of the gate to Lord Jagannātha's temple. A crowd has gathered. It does not disperse.

O fortunate earth planet, because of your many pious deeds, the Supreme Personality of Godhead in a golden form will appear on your surface.

I will follow. (He follows).

Translation: (Accompanied by His associates, and overwhelmed with bliss from seeing Lord Jagannātha, Śrī Kṛṣṇa Caitanya enters).

Śrī Kṛṣṇa Caitanya: (remembering)

Translation: Ah! I see Paramānanda Purī is coming here. First, I felt the happiness of seeing Lord Jagannātha. Now I feel a different happiness. My heart suddenly feels very happy. This declares that something auspicious will now come.

(He eagerly waits).

Caitanya Candrodaya Nāṭaka 8.34: Paramānanda Purī: (looking ahead) Ah! It is He! Glories to Him, overwhelmed with bliss by drinking the nectar of the sight of Nīlācala's Jagannātha moon, the hairs of His body erect with bliss, and His splendid chest a great wall of gold and jewels flooded with streams of tears.

Caitanya Candrodaya Nāṭaka 8.35: Śrī Kṛṣṇa Caitanya: (looking ahead) Suddenly he comes this way. (The Lord bows down and then stands up). Lord, are you Paramānanda Purī?

Caitanya Candrodaya Nāṭaka 8.36: Paramānanda Purī: (with reverence) Because I have a great desire to see You I have come here from Vārāṇasī.

Caitanya Candrodaya Nāṭaka 8.37: Śrī Kṛṣṇa Caitanya: You are very kind to Me.

Caitanya Candrodaya Nāṭaka 8.38: Jagadānanda: (approaching) Lord, here, here... (He stops)

Caitanya Candrodaya Nāṭaka 8.39: Sārvabhauma: Lord, this is very wonderful. All streams and rivers of the earth must enter the ocean. They cannot go to any other place.

Paramānanda Purī:
