20201115 Zoom Dipāvalī Visit to USA Disciples

15 Nov 2020|Duration: 00:10:13|English|Darśana|Transcription|Śrī Māyāpur, India

So on this auspicious night (India’s night, America’s morning) on this auspicious day of Dīpāvālī, according to our Vaiṣṇava calendar. We know that Ayodhyā-vāsīs were welcoming Lord Rāma and Sītā back to the Ayodhyā, since it is the dark moon night, they lit up the city with lamps, therefore, it is known as Dīpāvalī. So we want to have the Lord also enter our heart. And this Dīpāvalī festival is actually meant for that.

Recently, in our classes on Lord Caitanya, hearing how Mādhavendra Purī, he was carrying out the order of Gopāla, and he established the worship on Govardhana. He went to Jagannātha Purī by walking to get the sandal-wood pulp, and camphor, on the way in Remuṇa the Gopīnātha Deity stole a pot of kṣīra for Madhavendra Purī. Then, he went to Jagannātha Purī got one mount of sandalwood 40 kgs. And that is 2.2 pounds is one kilo. So 40 kilos would be about 88 pounds. And he also got 20 tolas of camphor. So, he was stopped by various toll collectors on the way. But he had a paper from the Government officials, so they let him go. But in Bengal, west to that Bihar, UP (Uttar Pradesh), was under Muslim rules. So, his paper had no value there. But the Deity of Gopāla appeared to him in the dream and said to give the sandal wood pulp on the Deity of Gopīnātha, so Gopīnātha is non-different from Him, it would cool Him down. I was thinking how Mādhavendra Purī, he had this impossible task, no money, no manpower to go and get sandal wood bring it back to Vṛndāvana. So similarly, we were thinking how Śrīla Prabhupāda, he went to America by the Trader-cargo-ship, with no money 7.5 dollars, it is about two meals. Yet today we have worldwide Kṛṣṇa conscious movement, because of Śrīla Prabhupāda’s sacrifice. It reminded from the pastime of Mādhavendra Purī, with the mission Śrīla Prabhupāda went to the west and brought Kṛṣṇa consciousness all over the world, how much we are indebted to His Divine Grace. I am very happy on this holy month of Dāmodara on the sacred day of Dīpāvalī to visit you. And I do hope that all of you get the mercy of Lord Kṛṣṇa. And, may achieve the success of your life. We see how, Yaśodā was able to conquer Kṛṣṇa by her love. Kṛṣṇa is unconquerable, He is Ajita – unconquerable. But He allows Himself to be conquered by love. So, that is the secret, we should develop love for Kṛṣṇa. And then we can achieve all success. Haribol!
