20180502 Evening Darśana Question and Answer Session

And they were observing Vyasa puja. So Prabhupad was taking care of us. He showed people how to do their basics and like he showed ladies how to wear a saree. I was in Bolder, Colorado and there was this new bhaktin who did not know how to wear a saree. I had never worn a saree either! But it was an emergency so I did what I could. So she still remembers that – the brahmachari who showed her how to wear a saree! Ha!

I was going with Jayananda prabhu to Beverley Hills and we would get flowers for the deities. But one crazy guy started shooting at us. When Prabhupad heard it, he said don’t pick flowers, don’t take the risk. 

So we would go every week before the deities and offer our weekly report to the deities in Los Angeles. This was a very nice experience. Everything we do is a kind of celebration in Krishna consciousness. 

Today we have Nanda Priya Nivedita and Janaki Raman observing their third marriage anniversary. Let us all give them a HARE KRISHNA!

So just in a few days Purushottam month begins. I will be ready tomorrow to give all the details.

We were walking in Mayapur around the Lotus building and a corner of the land was vacant. Prabhupad asked, why is this corner not cultivated? He told us to use every piece of land. So he gave instructions to utilize all the land. Someone said that this land has simply weeds. He said that there is no such thing. Because you do not know how to use the plants you think they are weeds but there are some ways to use them. So like that Srila Prabhupad would make sure we utilized everything in Krishna’s service. 

Once we were walking down the main road and there was a faucet and water was dripping. So Prabhupad said who is responsible for the leaking water? Everybody pointed to me. He said, he is responsible for everything but who is the particular person responsible for the leaking faucet. It was my duty to see that everybody did their service. But Prabhupad wanted to know whose service it was. So like this Prabhupad was training us in various areas.

So Krishna is giving us many opportunities and Prabhupad was showing us the way So it was up to us to see that everything was used in Krishna’s service.

Sometimes Prabhupad would want to take rest early. But we were cooking gud and in the process of making gud a lot of froth came up and the dogs came and licked the gud and became intoxicated and started to howl huuuu…. Prabhupad called me and he said I couldn’t translate the dogs’ were howling. So I had to figure out how to get rid of the dogs. 

We had one dog, who was coming every night and bowing down before Srila Prabhupad’s Vyasa aasan. And first I did not believe it when they told me. So I hid behind the lattice wall and watched. Sure enough the dog came and paid prostrate obeisances. I don’t know what he was in his previous birth but he was displaying his devotion to Srila Prabhupad.

So many things happened in Mayapur. We hope that you all have a good time serving your deities and giving Them happiness. Hare Krishna! Hare Krishna!

Question: Guru maharaj, when we travel in trains for more than 24 hours and we are not able to take bath, what should we do for the Gayatri?

GM: You can take a mantra bath and then say your Gayatri after that. That is called a mantra snaan.

Question: Guru maharaj you said that Prabhupad gave instruction that you should take care of your god brothers and his god brothers. What is the instruction for this generation?

GM: You were not born then. But the instructions go down through the parampara. So we would like you to be very respectful to the vaishnavas and to serve them.
