19810323 Śrī Navadvīpa Maṇḍala Parikramā Lecture at Chand Kazi Samādhi

23 Mar 1981|English|Navadvīpa Maṇḍala Parikramā|Śrī Māyāpur, India

The following is a Parikramā lecture given by His Holiness Jayapatākā Swami Mahārāja on March 23, 1981 in Sridhāma Māyāpur, India.

So here, Prabhupāda said “Now combining our western god brothers and god sisters, and the knowledge available, the Vedic knowledge available here in this land, so that will benefit the whole world. It's all completely beyond any sectarian type of conception. Rather, trying to bring the universal brotherhood, the universal love and the harmony among everyone. Not only among human beings but among animals, plants and insects and so many innumerable living entities in this universe”.

So ISKCON or International Society for Kṛṣṇa Consciousness has been designed by His Divine Grace Śrīla Prabhupāda. Śrīla Prabhupāda is a great transcendental architect. He is a great transcendental scientist. He is a great transcendental engineer who could design such a wonderful platform so that the whole world can participate in the mission of Caitanya Mahāprabhu, in the mission of the understanding about the science of Kṛṣṇa Consciousness. So, we are so fortunate at least to be part of this mission. So, we all of us should be extremely grateful that somehow by the mercy of His Divine Grace Śrīla Prabhupāda, we have been allowed to help him, we have been allowed to assist him in this divine, this great mission. So, for us, the purpose is to at least get ourselves acquainted with the science of Kṛṣṇa Consciousness, also we can make others Kṛṣṇa Conscious, including our… just like so many living entities, plants and human beings in every part of the world. So, it is a great boon or a great blessing given by His Divine Grace Śrīla Prabhupāda.

So, one thing I like to request is that now in… like the process of going in this parikramā, the regular process we are conducting; although it may look strange may be to those people who are not trained up; like going barefoot or like going going in the sun. So this type of austerity is a necessity, is a requirement in understanding about the science of devotion, about the science of how to be a Vaiṣṇava, about the science of to be a Kṛṣṇa Conscious scientist. So these are the ways by which we can be brought nearer to the lotus feet of the spiritual master, to the lotus feet of Caitanya Mahāprabhu and to the lotus feet of the all the Vaiṣṇavas. So, following in the footsteps of the great great ācāryas and serving them with great humility, with great love and devotion, our life also would be successful. So, the Bhāgavata instructs that, "naṣṭa prāyeṣu abhadreṣu nityaṁ bhāgavata sevayā" that this world, this world of scientific and technological advancement is full of false, or full of misfortunes. Abhadreṣu means always full of misfortunes. But all this misfortune can be immediately removed always by serving Bhāgavatam. "nityaṁ bhāgavata sevayā" Constantly; all the time - birth after birth. So that serving… the living Bhāgavatam is the spiritual master. By following the orders and the footsteps of the spiritual master, one can develop this science of understanding of Kṛṣṇa Consciousness. That way, one day, by the mercy of Caitanya Mahāprabhu, by the mercy of his spiritual master and by the mercy of all Vaiṣṇavas, we will be eligible to receive at least, that blessing. So it is a great privilege for me to share these thoughts from the Bhāgavata philosophy and we humbly request that as long as… although we come to this dhāma; just like Mahārāja this morning, Rāmeśvara Mahārāja discussed very nicely that we must be begging so that we can receive that mercy. So, we should be always in that mood so there may be little sunshine, so there may be little hurting on the feet, but we should take it as a mercy of Kṛṣṇa, as the mercy of Śrīla Prabhupāda. So that if we take it in that light, in that mood, you will find that every moment you will be getting that ecstasy.

Hare Kṛṣṇa. Thank you very much!

Jayapatākā Swami: Hare Kṛṣṇa! Śrīla Śrīpāda kī…. Jaya! (*applause*).

So here I am able to explain about why the Chand Kazi’s body is buried here. Automatically. No one planted this tree; it just automatically came from his body, you see. And all the people come here and bow down to the samādhi of the Chand Kazi. And even the Chand Kazi’s descendants are also very favorable to the Kṛṣṇa Conscious movement. So, we can take this opportunity now of everyone paying their obeisances to the Chand Kazi and his samādhi

Devotees: Jaya! Haribol.
