Jayapataka Swami: I went to the hospital, and they did a CT scan and found there were some water retention in my lungs. So in order to get rid of the water I have to take diuretics. I have to be nonstop on oxygen support, and the oxygen level has to be monitored. I got my award for the Mayapur Book Distribution Award from the Saṅkīrtana Department. 2,36,124 books distributed. Kamalāpati dāsa got second place and His Holiness Bhakti Vijaya Bhāgavata Mahārāja got third place.

Śrī Caitanya-Śikṣāmṛta

The Nectar of the teachings of Śrī Caitanya

Today’s chapter is: First shower—Third stream

Kṛṣṇa is not realized by the material eyes and so on. Even though sometimes Kṛṣṇa appears out of potency, still He remains as if not having appeared. The pastimes of Kṛṣṇa are eternal. Not limited by material space and time. These are seen only by the devotional eye of the pure soul and meditated upon in the devotional mind.

Note: Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 1.7.4–7:

bhakti-yogena manasi
samyak praṇihite ’male
apaśyat puruṣaṁ pūrṇaṁ
māyāṁ ca tad-apāśrayām

yayā sammohito jīva
ātmānaṁ tri-guṇātmakam
paro ’pi manute ’narthaṁ
tat-kṛtaṁ cābhipadyate

anarthopaśamaṁ sākṣād
bhakti-yogam adhokṣaje
lokasyājānato vidvāṁś
cakre sātvata-saṁhitām

yasyāṁ vai śrūyamāṇāyāṁ
kṛṣṇe parama-pūruṣe
bhaktir utpadyate puṁsaḥ
śoka-moha-bhayāpahā

Thus he fixed his mind, perfectly engaging it by linking it in devotional service [bhakti-yoga] without any tinge of materialism, and thus he saw the Absolute Personality of Godhead along with His external energy, which was under full control. Due to this external energy, the living entity, although transcendental to the three modes of material nature, thinks of himself as a material product and thus undergoes the reactions of material miseries. The material miseries of the living entity, which are superfluous to him, can be directly mitigated by the linking process of devotional service. But the mass of people do not know this, and therefore the learned Vyāsadeva compiled this Vedic literature, which is in relation to the Supreme Truth. Simply by giving aural reception to this Vedic literature, the feeling for loving devotional service to Lord Kṛṣṇa, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, sprouts up at once to extinguish the fire of lamentation, illusion and fearfulness.

Jayapataka Swami: Haribol! Normally one feels that we think of the material things and we see it and want to enjoy it. This is called illusion. So they are under this illusion that this false, temporary thing will satisfy them. But through devotional service they can realize Krsna. Thus they can see the temporary nature of the material things. Vyāsadeva, he gave the living entities the aural reception by which they could realize the Absolute Truth.
